Over the weekend, the powerful movie “Unplanned,” based on the true story of former Planned Parenthood clinic manager Abby Johnson, made it to #5 on the top box office list, with an estimated $6.2 million gross.  That’s more than double the most optimistic estimate, and more than the entire production budget.  Even though it’s on only 1,059 screens nationwide, it made $5770 per screen, more than “Captain Marvel.” It also grossed over a million dollars more than the new animated movie “Wonder Park,” which is on over three times as many screens.  The producers announced that they will add another 600 screens next weekend.

And congratulations, too, to lead actress Ashley Bratcher for a riveting performance that should earn her awards consideration, but will most likely get her blacklisted in Hollywood instead.  (Hollywood only hates blacklists of leftists from the ‘50s; blacklists of conservatives and pro-lifers today are fine.)

If you haven't seen "Unplanned" yet, you can find out more, locate a screening near you and buy tickets at this link:

The fact that it did so well is something of a miracle, considering how desperately Hollywood and liberal media and social media outlets worked to keep Americans from knowing it existed and to discourage them from seeing it. This is a movie that could change hearts and minds about abortion by ripping off the fuzzy, fell-good euphemisms like “reproductive choice” and showing the truth about what it really is, and that terrifies the pro-abortion movement. So they struck back on multiple fronts:

The MPAA slapped it with an unjustified “R” rating (so a 13-year-old girl can get an abortion without her parents even knowing, but she can’t see a movie showing what abortion really is without being accompanied by an adult until she’s 17?)

A number of TV networks refused to sell commercial time to the filmmakers.  They air grisly commercials for horror films, so that’s not it.  They claim they refused because it’s “political,” but some have had no problem with airing pro-Planned Parenthood programming.

https://www.westernjournal.com/ct/tv-networks-launch-disturbing-attack-pro-life-film-attempt-stop-viewers-watching/

Note that at the movie site Rotten Tomatoes, it has only a 53% positive rating from critics, but a 94% positive rating from viewers (some critics, like Owen Gleiberman at Variety, seemed to be more interested in writing pro-abortion op-eds than reviewing the movie – a fact that didn’t go unnoticed in the comments.)  I’m curious: have any of the movie critics smugly telling us this is a biased and inaccurate view of what happens inside a Planned Parenthood clinic spent years running a PP clinic, the way former PP “Employee of the Year” Abby Johnson did?

And then there was Twitter, which blocked the movie just before it opened, then kept mysteriously blocking people from following its site, or removing 99,000 followers who had already signed up.

Naturally, when called on it, Twitter had an excuse that had nothing to do with bias; it was just one of those pesky algorithms that purely by coincidence always seem to block conservative content and never liberal content.

Just ignore the biased reviews and social media assaults.  They’re part of a frantic attempt to keep you from learning the truth about abortion (in that regard, both Planned Parenthood and its media defenders are exactly the same.)  Here are my two simple words of advice:  “See it.”

I also have two words for Twitter:  “Public utility.”

Wow! Who would have thought a businessman And TV personsality who ran for President and won, could have so much power to effect all of the terrorist bombings, fake crime reporting, anti antisemetism, etc. I don’t believe even George Washington had that kind of power. It is like he is Superman and Batman all rolled into one. I find it really comforting to know that I have no responsibility because I can blame everything on Trump. Here I have been all these many years thinking I needed to ask forgiveness for my sins when I am not really responsible for them. I guess that means people can pretty much do anything because Trump made them do it. I imagine his Jewish daughter and grandchildren are feeling terrible that he is against them because they are Jewish. I must say Inanka covers her feelings well. I can’t imagine how Netanyahu must be having to cover up his feelings and the Jewish people must be really upset about putting the Embassy in Jerusalem and his saying they. should have the Golan Hgts. Funny think about Trump being responsible for the Libs anti semetism. I never thought they would cede that kind of power to him.

I was blessed to be invited to a private viewing last Wednesday. When I got home, I immediately posted on FB, encouraging all my friends and family to go see it this past weekend. I also assessed whether or not it was appropriate for my very Christian granddaughter, who is turning 13 this month. I decided "no". Unless a girl is already sexually active, I think 16 is a better age. What do you think?

Saw this movie on Sunday afternoon, and the theater was quite full. Very well-made film; the lead actress should get an Oscar nomination but won't, of course. (She was brave to take the role.) This movie should NOT have received an "R" rating but is still rough going in spots and should best be seen with a parent, anyway. I promise you, no one will leave the theater with the view that abortion isn't a big deal. I especially hope teenage boys will see it, so that maybe their reaction to a girlfriend's pregnancy won't just be "Don't worry --- I have enough money and I'll drive you to the clinic." Also, I personally know of one very dear child whose life was saved when her mother was approached "at the fence" and talked out of going through with it. It's a matter of changing hearts, and this movie could go a long way towards doing that.

My husband & I saw "Unplanned" yesterday. It is no surprise there is such an effort to downplay this movie from the abortion industry. I highly recommend seeing this. Thank you for your humor in dealing with the ridiculous statements by Congressman Adam Schiff. It is my belief that Schiff and his friends should be nominated to the "Flat Earth Society". Flat Earth Society people are those people who in spite of ALL the facts, still believe the Earth is flat and we all will fall off the edge of the world if we aren't careful. We need to make up a bunch of buttons and certificates to present to all the Never Trumpers and Elitist Democrats so they can wear the buttons and proudly display their membership on their jackets and office walls.

They will NEVER believe the President was legally elected in 2016 no matter what evidence they are given. Therefore, the EARTH IS FLAT PEOPLE! Do not believe what those crazy deplorables say!

I watched Unplanned on Saturday. I highly urge everyone to go to see this movie. The truth is clearly portrayed and the lies behind the abortion industry and Planned Parenthood.
I am 63 years old. When I was 22 had an abortion. I was told that it was a bunch of cells which is a lie from the pit of hell. I was married to the same man that I have been all my life.
I knew that it was going to be very hard for me to watch this movie but I knew I had to go see. The abortion seen in the sonogram was very hard for me but it just strengthens my calling to speak to women to choose life, never to end it, no matter what circumstances you are going through.
For the past 30 years, I have been trying to educate women and to always choose life, never abortion.
Abortion kills the baby that the woman is suppose to protect and destroys her physically, emotionally and spiritually.
Praise God that I found forgiveness, salvation and healing in our Lord Jesus Christ and is there for every single woman as well,
We must inform everyone that we know to watch Unplanned.

Great commentary Governor. Thank you for always being here for us! Hope to meet you in person one day. You have made my family and I better for your efforts.

Powerful movie!! Wish parents of every teen would make sure they take them to see this (since it received an unfair R rating).

My wife and I watched "Unplanned" and were moved by it! The largest impression that it left in my mind was the lies that exist about abortion and we should know who is the father of all lies! As the "innocent blood" flowed from the suction apparatus, our hearts were truly stirred!! Taking an innocent human life is simply "Murder" and a breaking of one of God's 10 commandments. God have mercy on those that do!!
