IG refers Comey for prosecution, but Barr assembling larger case

4 minute read

August 1, 2019 |

This week brings an avalanche of breaking news concerning bad actors at the FBI and Justice Department. Let’s start with one of the baddest actors of them all, former FBI Director James Comey.

According to investigative reporter John Solomon in THE HILL, Inspector General Michael Horowitz is close to completion on his report, and his assessment of Comey’s conduct is scathing. He reportedly has concluded that Comey leaked classified information –- which is a violation of the Espionage Act –- and showed “lack of candor” (translation: lying). The IG even referred Comey for possible prosecution, but Solomon reports that Attorney General Barr is declining to move forward on that.

All right now, get a grip. I know it seems that this decision is just one more example of a two-tiered justice system, and at first glance it sure does look like that. We’ve seen it so many times before. Solomon, however, presents this news as just the first shoe to drop, saying there’s much more to come and that Barr’s decision should be seen as part of a larger strategy. Don’t be dismayed, he says, to hear that Barr has declined to prosecute Comey on this “narrow charge,” because the full story is so much bigger and so much worse. Barr is playing the long game and building his overall case. He wants the first prosecutorial step he takes to be on absolutely solid ground.

According to Gregg Jarrett in an appearance on Wednesday’s HANNITY, Barr can always choose to prosecute Comey on these violations later, at least as long as the statute of limitations hasn’t run out. Let’s hope he does that, as it’s just not right for people such as Mike Flynn and George Papadopoulos to be prosecuted for lying when other far more egregious examples such as Hillary Clinton and James Comey are not. And it would be sadly ironic if Comey wasn’t prosecuted on Espionage Act violations because of the difficulty of proving “intent”; after all, that’s the same rationale Comey himself used for not charging Hillary. And “intent” isn’t even part of the statute.

For now, Solomon advises patience and prefers to focus on the very serious allegations of FISA abuse. Recall that Comey signed the original warrant application to spy on Trump campaign associate Carter Page, swearing that the information in it, based on the Steele “dossier,” was verified when he absolutely knew it wasn’t.

https://thehill.com/opinion/judiciary/455616-james-comeys-next-reckoning-is-imminent-this-time-for-leaking

Speaking of Comey, did you know FBI agents came to his house a month after he got fired and that documents were reportedly found there that it was illegal for him to have? We’re only now hearing about this. Also, when he turned over the documents, Comey reportedly did not tell them –- his own former FBI colleagues –- about some of the leaks from them that he was responsible for. Several weeks passed before the FBI was informed.

But now it's clear, Jarrett says, why Comey admitted he had leaked information from government documents to trigger the appointment of a special counsel. (He even seemed proud of that, didn’t he?) It was the very night before his testimony that the FBI had shown up at his door and found the documents! They had the word “SECRET” printed at the top, but Comey apparently lied to them and said it was the wrong title. Mr. Morality.

Anyway, don’t get mad (yet) at the attorney general for declining to prosecute Comey (yet) on these first criminal charges. If you’d like something to get mad about, get mad about this:

The American Center for Law and Justice, by suing the Justice Department under the Freedom of Information Act, has finally received copies of immunity agreements that prove Clinton allies Cheryl Mills and Heather Samuelson received immunity from prosecution in exchange for...well, nothing. They turned over their laptops --- the ones that had been illegally erased with BleachBit by the Clinton Team but that were to undergo digital forensics to see if some emails could be restored --- with the understanding that they would not be prosecuted for their violations of the Espionage Act and other statues relating to the mishandling of government information.

And here’s something extra sneaky: Mills and Samuelson technically retained “custody and control” of the laptops. That way, the Justice Department would be able to deny FOIA requests by saying they didn’t have “custody and control” of the documents in question. If that move wasn’t enough to keep the emails from getting out, they took yet another step: physical destruction of the laptops, as part of the agreement.

These laptops were what are termed “culling” laptops, in that all 62,320 emails from Hillary’s private server had been stored on them.

The report at the ACLJ website lays out all the details, particularly the various statutes and protocols that were violated, all to keep the Hillary email scandal under wraps so she could go forward as the anointed Democratic nominee for President. The “fix” absolutely was in. Get mad about THAT, while Barr continues putting pieces together.

Good informative article. I do hope that AG Barr is gathering much more evidence for a rock solid major case. As you said Governor, AG Barr can go back and still charge him on the other charges as long as the statute of limitations doesn't run out. But I would say if nothing happens well before the 2020 elections, then I think a lot of Republican voters, Patriots, and yes, Deplorable s who have been waiting and waiting for justice and accountability, will throw up their hands and not show up to vote. Anyone with a little bit of awareness and not a total Trump hater knows all too well of the deep state swamp which of course includes Comey, Hillary and many others. And are the Republicans (outside of a very few) going to actually stand up to the Democrats and their lies, tactics, smearing and their overall agenda? I think many Republican voters are getting tired of the Republicans sitting on their behinds and seem to just let the Democrats run rough shod over them. It is way past time for the Republicans to start taking a stand against the agenda of the Democrats to not only destroy our country, but to hide all the criminal activity of those like Comey, Hillary and a very long list. Wake up Republicans in the House and Senate and get your act together, because many are watching and waiting to see if they can depend on you.

Mr. Barr being a veteran AG probably knows best like a seasoned hunter the hunter may wait for a bigger and fulfilling animal to come along especially if he can have only one. Why tag Comey with a small crime when Barr can get him for a more serious crime. In Religion God will look at our venial sins and if we commit mortal sins the outcome will be more severe. I do hope Comey will be convicted of severe crimes while on earth he is considered by most loyal Americans a incurable cancer and if prison will keep him away from our citizens for now that is good he still has one more judge to go before what Comey has been as a human may not not sit so well with his next judge there will be no mixing words no INTENTIONS Jim just reaction to your actions!!!!!!!!

However, I am skeptical enough to believe that Barr is actually from the swamp but knows where the stumps are and is waking on top of them to look like he is above the corruption. If he and republicans do not prosecute these anti-Trump conspirators such as Comey, Hillary, Clapper, Brennan, McCabe, AG Loretta Lynch and even Obama, I fear that 2020 will be a disaster because many conservatives and even moderate republicans will say "What's the use" and not vote. MISPRISION:

Deliberate concealment, participation, knowledge, etc., of neglect/violation/offense/wrong performance of official duty/maladministration/misconduct by one in office or official capacity.

Commission and concealment of serious offenses, crimes, including erasure of computer and browser info. Also includes treasonous intentions.

Could this apply to Comey and other compromised libs and dems involved in their partisan conspiracy to enact a coup by making up fraudulent charges against Donald Trump to usurp his rightful position as President, ensuring false info as genuinely authentic evidence to obtain fisa warrants for no other reason than to illegally spy on him and his admin staff?

And treason is treason, BEC they not only used false "trumped up" charges to frame Trump, an innocent victim, they used false evidence they verified as positively authentic to compromise the court as a participant of their illegal manipulations.

It was a failed coup, not a failed coup "attempt" BEC they got the court to authenticate false/fraudulent accusations in issuing a genuine warrant that permitted their illegal surveillance/spying.

Every single bad actor that was/ were/are/is committing questionable, wrongful, criminal, intentionally illegal manipulations against President Trump, republicans, conservatives, Christians, or against any anti liberal entity, group, individual are of course part of a corrupt group of partisan liberal demoncrats.

    1. Their appalling intentional partisanship mishandling, deterrence of conservative, Christian, etc., nonprofit irs tax exempt status applications.

    2. Their overtly irregular partisanship investigation into the arrogantly intentional rebuff of subpoenas demanding clinton's classified emails, that were allegedly destroyed rather than handed over/supplied.

    3. The absolute disregard of ethical govt employee standards and conduct unbecoming ANYONE enjoined in the service of this nation, by their willful partisanship compliance to fabricate non verifiable allegations to fake out the fisa court in order to obtain a warrant in a pursuit to illegally spy on the Trump admin staff.

    4. Biased Partisanship of Mueller's lib/dem/anti-Trump hating investigation/interrogators.

NOT ONE qualified republican or nonpartisan investigator was/is involved in any of these demonstrably destructive, dereliction of duty commissioned intentions to thwart justice using the Justice system to abet their misuse of authority against Republicans and President Trump.

Had there been one uncompromised Republican involved in any of these lib/dem contrivances to subvert and manipulate their govt positions, not one of these stains on our nation's integrity would have been attempted.
Why? Bec they are inherently dishonest and they know we are not, and would not agree to or comply with their misuse of any type of gainful, self enhancement agenda.
That's why they hate us and the Constitution, we prevent them from getting their way to control our lives the way they think they should control us, according to their rules.

Since when has "Intent" become a "Get out of jail" card? Just another example of the swamp people taking care of their own.

Insist that Barr gets his report to the Grand Jury by the end of this year. I think several Liberals would be persuaded by the results, and not want to be associated with that group.

How about calling the "squad", the "Odd Squad" !

There's obviously a 2 tiered Justice system. Trump's people get their doors kicked in and they walk. Don't take up for this bunch of Yahoo's. Barr and these guys are best buds, going way back. Good grief. If anything a low level bureaucrat will take the fall. The swamp protects it's on.

This is mind boggling!! The democrats under obama's presidency, Hillary, the congress, IG, FBI, DOJ, etc. What a cover up while they tried to prosecute and blame others for the crimes they themselves have committed. Hope it all unfolds and justice served while President Trump is still in the White House or it will be swept back under the carpet.

Having watched the latest debates and reading about the latest Saturday morning cartoons I see two distinct trends. 1. The comedy writers are coming up with fresh routines every day. 2. The Democrats have digressed to the point of carrying clubs, dressing in Ill-fitting animal skins, and dragging their LBGT prospect mates by the hair back to the cave.

Governor, thanks for all that you report. It is very informative and you are a source for reliable information. It gets harder to fight that urge every day that goes by and not even a hint of holding that crew responsible for anything.

Then all of us will be under their "social justice" rule.
