BIBLE VERSE OF THE DAY
Democrats' Surefire Remedy
By Mike Huckabee
Today’s leftists are like Granny Clampett from “The Beverly Hillbillies.” No matter what ails you, from a cold to rheumatism, she had a surefire remedy. It was always the same noxious brew, concocted from possum guts, white lightning and superstition. Except it didn’t really cure anything, and it usually left people feeling sicker than before they took it.
So it is with today’s left. They have a surefire useless nostrum for everything. Every social problem can be fixed by creating more government programs. Low grades and juvenile delinquency can be fixed by giving failing schools more money. In fact, every social and economic problem can be fixed by throwing money at it. Racism can be cured by blaming all of the world’s ills on white people. And all crimes can be prevented by making it harder for law-abiding citizens to obtain guns.
Sunday’s horrific mass shooting at a Boulder, Colorado, supermarket that left 10 people dead presented those on the left with two chances to apply their one-size-fits-all “solutions.” Before knowing one thing about the shooter’s identity, motives or the races of his victims, and instead of waiting for more information or simply praying for the victims, they leapt to the conclusion that he must be a white male racist and probably a Trump voter and tried to politicize a mass murder.
That giant leap for leftkind included a number of prominent people, even Vice President Kamala Harris’ “social influencer” niece, Meena Harris, who tweeted that "violent white men are the greatest terrorist threat to our country."
That racist tweet and others were quickly deleted after it was reported that the shooter was Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa. He’s a Muslim and it’s not clear where he’s from, but the DA said he’s spent most of his life in the US. All ten of his victims were white. Schoolmates described Alissa as short-tempered, unstable and paranoid; a “good kid” who would go crazy when he got mad, one time threatening to kill everybody after he lost a wrestling match. A teammate said, "Nobody believed him. We were just all kind of freaked out by it, but nobody did anything about it." He also wrote Facebook posts criticizing Trump.
(Instapundit has an excellent round-up of some of these quickly-deleted racist “anti-racist” tweets, including a collage of mugshots of all the mass shooters of 2019, showing that not only are they of no particular race, but a couple of them were women.)
Predictably, when the “blame racist white male Trump voters” narrative collapsed, leftists immediately and unapologetically pivoted to “blame the gun” and started calling for more gun control laws, with President Biden and Hollywood celebrities leading the charge.
Again, just as they keep retrying socialism in hopes it will work this time, the Democrats want to revive the “assault weapons ban” that was allowed to expire in 2004 after it was found to have virtually no effect on gun violence.
As that story notes, more people are killed with clubs or bare fists every year in the US than with AR-15 rifles. Most of the places with the highest levels of gun violence also have the most restrictive gun control laws. Without a criminal record, no background check would have stopped Alissa from getting a gun. If he really wanted to do something like this, no laws would have prevented him from getting a gun; they just would have prevented other people from being able to protect themselves from him. Like this…
But here we are again. Instead of waiting to find out the facts, the left isn’t letting a crisis, no matter how tragic, go to waste when they can politicize it to revive an agenda that’s failed over and over again.
By Mike Huckabee
Not surprisingly, one of many leftists who immediately jumped to the wrong conclusion to try to make the Boulder shooting about race and “white supremacy” was Rep. Ilhan Omar.
She doubled down on the racist disinformation by referring to a debunked story by leftist “journalist” Aaron Rupar of Vox.com, who got an Atlanta police officer suspended and publicly vilified by falsely accusing him of brushing off the Atlanta massage parlor shooter’s crime as him just “having a bad day.” In fact, the unedited video showed that Cherokee County Sheriff's Capt. Jay Baker was merely repeating what the suspect told officers.
For Rupar, it seems that promoting a cherished "racist cop" narrative is more important than getting the facts straight, or not destroying the life of an innocent public servant, or not handing our enemies a propaganda tool to use against America. You can see at this link from Instapundit how the official Chinese news agency used Rupar’s false narrative to slam Americans as racists.
If nothing else, it proves something I’ve long suspected: China’s communist party leaders read Vox.
Inside the Crisis
By Mike Huckabee
After Project Veritas obtained photos inside the jam-packed border detention facilities for unaccompanied minors (or as that was called under Trump when they were much less crowded, “kids in cages”), the Biden White House finally released some photos to the media, which had been blocked from seeing the crisis for themselves. They were assured it wasn’t a crisis, it was a “challenge,” and then a “circumstance.”
But the Epoch Times got an exclusive interview with an anonymous border agent who described what it’s like inside, and “crisis” is putting it mildly.
Sample quotes: “Any diseases that are in there, it’s being kept in there, like a petri dish. The smell is overwhelming.”
“We’re getting them out of here as quickly as possible, but we are so overwhelmed right now. It used to be easy to get them out in 72 hours. Not anymore. They’re staying here for 10, 12 days. It’s horrible.”
“Everybody that shows up here—even if it’s a 3-year-old kid with no one around—they all have an address on them. And they’ll give it to you: ‘Here’s my address; this is where you are sending me. And that’s what we do. This is the way we are being played.”
“We’re dealing with a different culture who’s not afraid to send all their kids under the age of five, knowing they’re going to get raped, knowing they’re going to get killed. You talk to the adults or the teenagers and they’ll tell you, ‘They raped three or four girls, and they kicked them off the trains.’ They’re going to die.”
“There’s no end in sight. The people that we’re apprehending are warning us of the larger caravans that are on their way.”
And whose fault is all this? He said it’s due to Biden’s reversal of Trump’s policies, “One hundred and ten percent. They were already ready before Biden was even in office. They knew that the doors were going to be open. And now we’ve got a point where we cannot stop it.”
Needless to say, read the whole article. But be prepared to get very angry. And if you slammed Trump over that “kids in cages” narrative, but you don’t get furious over this, then please don’t lie to me that the lives of children are more important to you than politics.
THIS is Racist
By Mike Huckabee
I can’t believe I actually have to tell a university history professor and failed California Democrat Congressional candidate how incredibly racist it is to send an icon of a KKK hood to a black conservative commentator on Twitter. He claims he was trying to make the point that she was promoting “white supremacist arguments” by stating accurate crime statistics.
Fortunately, I don’t have to tell him how racist he is, because his would-be target, the wonderful Candace Owens, told him in no uncertain terms. Her grandfather dealt with the real Democratic institution known as the KKK, so there is no way she would be intimidated by some jerk throwing around Klan hood cartoons on Twitter.
A Reader Writes Back...
I enjoy your newsletter immensely. It is well thought out. I don’t feel I’m being tutored but just given the facts for me to make my own conclusion. I feel like an intelligent well informed adult.
