The mainstream media will paint the firing of former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe as a politically-motivated hit job, but it isn’t one.

Attorney Gen. Jeff Sessions acted on a recommendation from the FBI’s Office Of Professional Responsibility --- their version of an internal affairs office --- that McCabe be fired less than two days before his official retirement (he’s been on leave since January). The recommendation came after they were provided with allegations of his misconduct from the Inspector General’s office. For such a high-level official to be fired after 21 years of service suggests that his transgressions are considered extremely serious. Indeed, the accusation that he deceived the Inspector General while under oath seems awfully similar to the charges made against former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn. No one in the mainstream media is crying for Flynn, who, according to his questioners, willingly submitted to an interview without a lawyer present and may not even have lied.

McCabe has put out a statement that no doubt will be trumpeted by CNN and MSNBC, reading in part: “This attack on my credibility is one part of a larger effort not just to slander me personally, but to taint the FBI, law enforcement, and intelligence professionals generally. It is part of this Administration’s ongoing war on the FBI and the efforts of the Special Counsel investigation, which continue to this day. Their persistence in this campaign only highlights the importance of the Special Counsel’s work.”

Au contraire. Though McCabe had enjoyed a longtime reputation for high ethical standards, after he got to the “seventh floor,” he undermined his own credibility in many ways, not the least of which was the one he was ostensibly fired for. If anyone has tainted the FBI, it is he and his cohorts who were using their positions as “intelligence professionals” to MEDDLE WITH OUR ELECTION. (Who needs Russia to meddle when we’ve got our own high-level bureaucrats to do it?) The IG has no doubt had an opportunity to assess the performance of McCabe and the others who were doing this and will be issuing massive reports soon. Here’s just a sampling of McCabe’s transgressions –- a few that we know so far:

Commentary continues below advertisement

He is found to have lied to the IG.

He allowed two FBI officials to leak to the media about the ongoing investigation into the Clinton Foundation.

He failed to disclose the huge conflict of interest resulting from his wife’s Hillary-connected campaign contributions, and then he stalled in recusing himself from the Hillary investigation.

He apparently conspired with Peter Strzok and Lisa Page on the “insurance policy” to keep Trump out of office.

He was one of the officials tweaking the memo absolving Hillary Clinton of mishandling classified emails before she had even been interviewed.

He knew about the specific political origin of the Steele “dossier” but didn’t disclose it to the FISA court.

Like fired FBI Director James Comey, McCabe sounds enormously self-righteous in his own defense. He’s claiming to have been “singled out,” but he doesn’t have much of a case. It turns out that the FBI has terminated 19 employees for “lack of candor” since March of 2017. None of them were even under oath at the time. McCabe just happens to be the most high-profile one.

Predictably, Democrats are already saying this firing shows the President is obstructing justice, even though this was something handled internally at the FBI. McCabe will undoubtedly try to turn this into a partisan war in order to avoid prosecution and regain his pension. He’ll say the timing was suspect, but it seems to have had more to do with the timing of the IG reports. Sure the President wanted him gone –- with good reason –-but he did NOT cause it. Lots of people, including some lower-level FBI agents whose expressions of frustration have been conveyed to reporters, thought McCabe should go.

Some are saying this is “a sad day for the country.” It isn’t one. A little of the murk just got drained out of the swamp, that’s all, and there’s a lot more to go. The news of McCabe’s firing comes on the same day we learn of more texts between Peter Strzok and Lisa Page in which they talk about setting up cocktails or a “dinner party” with a newly-appointed FISA judge, Rudolph Contreras, who happened to be a friend of Strzok. Judge Contreras presided in the Michael Flynn case but recused himself with no explanation--- after Flynn pleaded guilty.

We just hope and pray that justice will be done. Is it possible to make the issues less confusing? It has become nearly impossible to follow all of the twists and turns. We realize that the devil is in the details, but busy people just cannot follow all the details. An old lieyer trick is that if the facts cannot be argued, they simply confuse and baffle people with their baloney. It would be very unfortunate if this whole issue ends up in the baloney bin, but it is now getting to be sort of like a tired old tire that is running out of air. One question that remains, that no one is touching is: What about the FISA Judges?? Were they really ignorant and uninformed of the facts, or are they a part of the swamp??? And why wouldn't they be????

After all his years of, apparently, exemplary service, McCabe decided to put all his eggs in Hillary’s basket. This is not the same basket as her “deplorable” one. I’m in that one. He was sure she would be elected President and whatever he could do to denigrate President Trump would never be investigated. He had said if he were fired he wasn’t going “down” alone! Hopefully, he will be true to his word but he must know what happens to most who “finger” the Clintons. They die-suddenly-with self-inflicted bullet holes to the back of the head, die of a heart attack or just die from no apparent cause.

I fully support the firing of McCabe. He violated his oath of office, lied to people trying to gain facts, and apparently covered up for people, and in general was a bad actor in all of this mess. A small part of the swamp seeped out last night with a whole lot more to come. I just hope that McCabe keeps the promise he made that if he goes down, he's going to take everyone with him. I support that promise and belief he should keep it. DRAIN THE SWAMP! Restore the faith of Americans back in law enforcement, starting at the TOP of the ladder! How can a government expect citizens to abide by laws when those in the higher eshalon totally ignore them. One can only expect the acused to plead, “Hillary and Bill got away with it”. Andrew McCabe should have been fired, along with his pension. This goes for anyone, regardless of their status. If they break the law, they should be punished. No one is above the law. There are many more in Washington who should follow, and quickly, so that this doesn't appear as if the individual has been singled-out.

You are absolutely correct about how the media handled the information on the firing of Mc Cabe. FOX reported the reasons for the firing and all of the people on the Ingraham Angle understood and agreed with it including Alan Dershowitz. I then turned to CNN and their report said that the firing was because Jeff Sessions was trying to curry favor with President Trump. Several months ago, McCabe said that if he is fired, he will bring everyone down. If the truth is reported, it may stir the swamp a little more. It is so sad to see the left encourage and promote hate of President Trump and the conservatives.

"Lacking candor" equals lying when you are under oath. FBI professional group and OIG agreed McCabe should be fired - no POTUS input on decision. The “beloved” media among other things is saying this was absolutely terrible to do at the very last minute. I do agree with you about the timing of the IG reports, but is it possible that AG Sessions, being fair, was trying to find a way to fire McCabe and still let him keep his pension? He should be in prison and maybe that will happen.

We (Republicans) live in a "Damned if you do, Damned if you don't" society. If you take any kind of position on just about anything the Dumacrates will jump on it in one way or another. It is probably better if we just stick to the truth in whatever we say. I have a motto I try to live by "It's the Bible, The whole Bible, & Nothing but the Bible" so help me God.

Will be very good day when they too are charged for all, or even some, of their crimes.

Indictments forth coming - I hope from OIG report / findings.

Thank goodness that some of the wielders of power in the FBI are being dragged out of their dens! "Some of the federal officials use and abuse their power against private citizens and they behave inappropriately when doing things with those powers." After all his years of, apparently, exemplary service, McCabe decided to put all his eggs in Hillary’s basket.

Acting just like Killary. Not man enough to admit he is at fault for being engaged in criminal activities. The IG report will bring out even MORE things Macabe did that he KNEW without question were not proper for an FBI agent to do. This man thinks he is above the law just like Killary. He and other narcissists ARE the problem. Shows me, he is gripping because he got caught, he knows what he did and his guilt is showing.. This man needs a jail cell.

Looks as though the "true seditionists," like cockroaches, are venturing into the light. What these enormously egotistical brainiacs FAIL to see when they make statements like that first one from Brennan, is, they are perfectly describing themselves, showing where the true "venality, moral turpitude, and political corruption exist!
