It’s easy to dismiss Bernie Sanders’ grandiose pie-in-the-sky socialist ideas, but now that too many people are actually voting for him, let’s take a look at just how high in the sky his pie is flying (take that, Cole Porter!)

Bernie has been notably vague about how much his socialist transformation of America would cost or how it would be paid for, but like all purveyors of questionable, overpriced goods, he assures the suckers that they will pay for themselves in the long run. Greg Re at Fox News reports that Sanders released a “fact sheet” (quotation marks intentional) Monday night on the financials, and both the costs and his plans for paying them make the mind reel. It’s a ruinous cocktail of massive spending and government expansion into every corner of your life, paid for by a mountain of new taxes, mandates, lawsuits, deep cuts in defense, and wishful thinking.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/bernie-sanders-payments-green-new-deal-medicare-for-all-explanation

For instance, he claims that the “Green New Deal,” which has been estimated to cost more than $90 trillion over ten years, would actually save $70.4 trillion over 80 years by averting climate catastrophe. No figures are given to back that up, but as Re notes, “the Trump administration's National Climate Assessment found that it was possible climate change could reduce the size of the U.S. economy by 10 percent by the end of the century, assuming no substantial changes in technology (including carbon-reducing innovations) or policy occur in the meantime.”

Aside from stressing the word “possible,” I’ll note that the end of the century is 80 years from now. Do you think there will be no policy changes or substantial changes in technology by then without massive government intervention (incidentally, in socialist nations, that always stymies technological advancement.) Think back to 80 years ago. How many changes in technology have there been since 1940? Today's young people laugh at the technology they see in reruns of "Friends"! And how many of the tech advances since 1940 have been led by the government? Sure, we learned a lot from the space program, but it was the private sector using that data that gave us home computers, smart phones, etc. It was only five months ago that the government finally updated the computers controlling our nuclear weapons systems so they no longer use floppy discs.

https://www.businessinsider.com/military-replaces-floppy-disks-used-to-control-nuclear-weapons-2019-10

Elsewhere, Bernie seems to think there’s an endless supply of super-rich people just waiting around like cows to be milked by the government. Like a communist Old McDonald, he plans to have a wealth tax here and a wealth tax there, oblivious to the fact that people don’t get rich by letting the government take all their money. They will simply shelter it or send it overseas, which will pull it out of productive investments and kill US job creation, reducing federal revenue. But never fear: he’ll stop people from doing what they want with their own money by expanding and empowering the IRS and having a lot more audits (does that make you feel more secure?)

Some other “revenue enhancements” include suing and taxing the daylights out of oil companies (goodbye, affordable gasoline!)…a range of taxes on everybody to pay for “Medicare For All” (but don’t worry, he says this will replace what you currently pay for insurance – but it will also replace the choices you currently have with a one-size-fits-all government health care program)…and a “modest” tax on Wall Street stock and bond transactions that would not only hit everyone with retirement accounts, it also adds up to five times the average online brokerage fee. Ironically, the federal government won’t let brokers charge that much because they’d consider it to be ripping off consumers. But socialists always believe that when the government rips you off, it’s for your own good.

PS – This article also mentions some more blowback on Bernie’s praising of Fidel Castro for implementing a literacy program. Critics say that literacy was already rising in Cuba before Castro’s revolution, and the program he instituted was largely to indoctrinate Cubans by making them read communist propaganda. I wonder if Bernie’s response to that will be “So what’s wrong with reading nothing but communist propaganda?!”

And here’s a little more about what really happened to education in Cuba under the benevolent Castro regime…

I heard Bernie 's strongest group of voting support comes from the 18 to 29 age group which matches the bulk of the military age group. I live near Fort Hood in an area that has grown over the past ten years and is predominately in that age range. I hope soldiers and their families vote the American dream to Make America Great Again and Keep America Great instead of the high hopes and high in the sky hopes of Bernie Sanders. But after the census it was predicted the precincts surrounding me might split into two or three precincts each to keep each precinct under 5000 population. Unless more soldiers register to vote and vote Republican the whole county may turn Republican.

Remember, Obama expounded Hope & Change and was a Faux Conservative at best. Once in office he dumped the sheep's clothing. And boy did we get Change! No Hope!

That base is still looking for the change and Bernie's message is full throttle, for us to see. Obama wore many masks to conceal the same message, his beaurocrats still moving that agenda forward today.

This movement is ugly now. When they lose in November, the Leftists could go full militant in thier pursuits to change America.

We must have Revival, so that God can put His thoughts into the heart of our Nation to turn the tide.

All Bernie wants to do is re-distribution of wealth by taking it from the ones who earn it and giving it to the ones who didn’t. Socialism fails every time because the earners stop producing and then it becomes Communism because they have to be forced to do what the government says.

  • Cindy Taylor

    02/25/2020 01:03 PM

    Dear Governor Huckabee,
The hype about Medicare for all is ridiculous. We already have Medicare for all. And we are forced to enroll in this government controlled medical insurance, even if we are still working and have excellent medical coverage. It only covers hospital expenses, if you want prescription coverage or coverage for office visits to see your doctor, they are 2 additional parts you have to get separately -and pay for them based on income. So if you have paid into it your entire working life, and your payments redistributed to those who didn’t, you then get to pay extra for medicine and doctor visits.
When managing a family practitioner’s office, I saw the ridiculous restrictions and reimbursement rates. Example: back in those days, we charged $26 for an office visit. Medicare “approved” $16 and paid $10.80. The patient paid the difference. The doctor was not allowed to forgive the difference. If he did, he could have been fined and/or jailed and they would reduce the “approved” amount. One real life situation stands out. We had an elderly patient who had difficulty paying her part. We told her we were required, by law, to send a bill but she did not have to pay. The sweetheart sent a quarter taped to a note, every week, delivered by a one of her young neighbors. When the doctor found out, he told us to stop charging for her visits.
We were in a very small rural town, surrounded by farms. The nearest hospital was 10 miles away and did not have full time ER coverage, but had 3-4 local doctors who shared a call schedule. The closest hospital, large enough to offer full service, was 24 miles away, in th opposite direction. We had some tough winters and our patient population included many elderly people as well as young families. The doctor had an X-ray machine and a basic lab installed and we hired techs with the qualifications to use them, so patients, especially elderly and families with children, would not have to drive in bad weather to get a simple blood test or an X-ray of a suspected broken bone. The government decided to not allow doctors offices to use this equipment, because they were afraid the doctor would order too many tests to make more money. A crazy assumption, especially in rural practices. So were paying for equipment we could not use and could not sell (no other office could use it either) and had to fire an employee.
The government has so many regulations and restrictions on medical care, it’s increasingly difficult for providers and support staff to practice they way they think is best for the patient. They spend a huge amount of time documenting. In our hospital, the ER doctors have trained scribes to follow them and keep up with the documentation, allowing hours of time the doctors can spend with patients.
Large scale government, one size fits all, medical care does not work. They are the biggest contributor to rising costs.
And please, take a look at the job they have done in the VA medical system.
    Thank you for your time.
    With deep respect,
    Cindy Taylor

If you've ever wanted to be rich, vote for Bernie. In the first month or two of his administration, Sanders will have taken all he can from those we now call rich, and then guess who the "rich folks" are who are going to start getting taxed at super high rates. that's right - its you! Oh, Crony capitalism will continue like it did i the Obama administration, as a way of redistributing your money to those Bernie and the Bernie Bros favor.

When Obama launched Obama Care, I lost my great doctor and wonderful health insurance, now if Bernie gets in I am fearing this will happen again. OH and neither he nor other candidates are event discussing seniors. Obama Care wanted to just let senior die! I fear same with Bernie's plan. This is very bad as many seniors are very productive, I work from home and am very healthy. My Medicare supplement only costs me $1.30 per month, I bet Bernie will take that away.
    Something to think about.

Wow, how did we stray so far, that Americans would consider communism. Blame our education system. They prepped & groomed our young people. While everyone else sat on their hands & allowed them to do it. I remember the school board being so upset that my dad challenged them on their textbooks back in the 60's. And they got worse & worse ever since. I think a goal for the next 4 years should be teaching history & civics, the real deal. Not the changed version. Young people need the truth given to them. And people should realize, Hollywood is a bunch of actors & not smart people. Should never allow them to speak on politics. And news people need to be re-educated on what telling the truth is. I do not want their opinions. I have a brain. I can make up my own mind.

I am a retired active duty USAF Veteran, having served in Vietnam for three tours. I risked my life, in a fight against Socialist A-Holes (Sorry) like this! I am worried America's young people are buying into Bernie Sanders' communist revolution plans for the United States of America. They
are our future leaders. I have wondered if his 2nd campaign for
president was launched to give him a national platform to spread
his agenda, because even "crazy" Bernie must know he will not win.
He's trying to build an army to do his dirty work.
It was Stalin who proposed adding "democratic" to the word "socialist"
to make it more acceptable to Americans. There's nothing democratic
about a socialist/communist government. Stalin also said the goal of
    socialism is communism.
To get an idea of how that works, I suggest all your readers get up to
date on how communist China is now cracking down on Christians,
rewriting Bibles, closing their churches, detaining/jailing pastors and members. Also Muslims. It is only the tip of the iceberg for Chinese residents who refuse to conform to the government mandates.
I don't have the link, but the Guardian newspaper published a story,
    and there are other outlets.
Pray for America, then get up off your knees and help President
    Trump win re-election in November!

Kids believe Bernie, because he tells them what they want to hear, but, not what is true. Schools will not be "free" without the highest taxes that their parents will need to pay. They will get free school, but what good will that do, unless there are jobs. The USA will suffer and will then we will be subject to Russia. That is what Bernie wants in the long run.

Bernie is a very scary person. Young people, who have very little life experience, are listening to him & all the other Democrats with wonder on their faces. Our country needs more prayer now than it has ever needed.

Governor Huckabee, I really enjoy your TV shows, and your daily emails; they are truly positive and so inspirational!

“Breadline Bernie” is popular since he’s the leading spokesperson for the anti-American, neoconstitutional crowd who are desperately intent on destroying USA in their misguided wish to profit from “Bernie’s rubble.”
Bernie’s commentary is reminiscent of what a pre-Marx, 17th century Russian serf might have thought.

He is a disaster waiting to happen...God forbid......I can not see how anyone with a rational mind can vote for him unless they are lazy, stupid and shiftless wanting something for nothing on someone else's dime.

Bernies Socialist Policies of tax and spend have never worked and will never work! look at the Historical Record of all those who have tried and failed. BIG GOVERNMENT WITH FREE HANDOUTS will destroy this Country. The voting public should be educated in THE HISTORY OF SOCIALISM!

It seems to me more and more that the evil powers are getting stronger and stronger every single day, even though they could not impeach Trump. This is the time that republican party must act urgently and start educational TV programs for teenagers about UTOPIA of SOCIALISM, and tell the kids that FREE CHEESE is ONLY in a MOUSE TRAP ! Someone HAS to pay for your FREE STUFF, but WHO? Rich MILLIONAIRE? You gotta be smarter than that!

My concern is that it is rumored that "I will take your gun, and limit the size of your soda" Bloomberg and "Lock Her Up" Hillary Clinton are working together to create a Brokered Convention, allowing Hillary to run again. What is wrong is that the Democrats know Sanders can't win against Trump and will block him from winning the primary and losing to Trump.

They think he is some magician with all the answers. WAKE UP, EVERYONE. Think for yourself, read & make your own decision & don't let politicians think for you!! Our country needs more prayer now than it has ever needed.

I am more worried about the epidemic of Bernie psychosis than the coronavirus. I understand the people of MD are moving his way. This is collective, pardon the pun, madness. I don’t think it is a hate Trump thing. There are other somewhat saner candidates. Again, I do not think Bernie would survive a year under the stress.

On another subject, is Biden losing it?

I am scared to death of all of the Democratic candidates! I can't see why anyone would support them and in particular, Bernie! What has happened to the intelligence of this nation? It's the dumbing down of America, as Neil Boortz used to say!

Bernie is a lazy politician that has never done anything. He needs to retire while he is still ahead.
