Kavanaugh

I won’t comment in detail on the Kavanaugh hearings today because as of this writing, they’re still going on.  Just to make a few early observations:

Both Dr. Ford and Judge Kavanaugh presented emotional testimony that their supporters will find believable.  But only Kavanaugh presented any actual evidence. Dr. Ford’s testimony was moving, and it made it easier to believe that something happened to her that affected her deeply and that she may be sincere.  But her testimony actually raised more questions than it answered.

For instance, she claimed that she was too afraid to fly to come to DC, but her testimony revealed that she flies often.  She claimed she didn't know that the Committee offered to send someone to her, but everyone knew that (I wrote about it here.) She dismissed her female friend’s sworn denial that she was present at this alleged attack by saying she has “health problems,” whatever that means.  Even if she did panic and flee without warning her girlfriend of the danger, that doesn’t explain why her friend wouldn’t remember now or notice then that her girlfriend suddenly disappeared from a party with only five attendees when she was seven miles from home and couldn’t drive, or why she didn’t call Ford’s parents to make sure she was okay.  Only the decision to handle her with kid gloves prevented questioners from drilling down on these logical inconsistencies.

Kavanaugh, on the other hand, was also emotional, something some liberal commenters tried to turn against him as showing he didn’t have the “temperament” to be on the Supreme Court.  If he is falsely accused, as he says, then it takes some major gall to use the fact that he’s upset that you have tried to destroy his life, reputation and career as your new reason to oppose him.  But Kavanaugh also offered something Dr. Ford didn’t: not only sworn denials from the witnesses his accuser cited, but a hand-written 1982 calendar/diary showing that he was at other places on every date that this could have happened. I understand why he choked up thinking about his father starting that tradition, but he must also be incredibly grateful that it was passed down to him. I bet it’s something the Committee Democrats never imagined he would be able to produce.

Kavanaugh’s worst moment was probably when he struggled to answer Dick Durbin’s pressing him to demand an FBI investigation of himself.  It was a disingenuous attack, but effective.  Kavanaugh (who has already been through six high-level FBI background checks) tried to explain why, with no evidence or details of the allegation, all the FBI could do is interview the same witnesses who were sitting there testifying now. Plus, as Sen. Mike Crapo of Idaho later noted, the Committee already conducted an investigation to interview all the people the FBI would, and Democrats refused to participate.  Kavanaugh's response might have come across to some viewers as too lawyerly or evasive, but it was accurate.  And he probably didn’t want to say what he knew to be true: Democrats aren’t pushing for an FBI investigation to learn anything.  They want it as a political delaying tactic to get past the midterm elections.  If you don’t believe me, here’s a Democrat explaining the uselessness of an FBI investigation in these situations:

Graham will be remembered

Two moments that will definitely be remembered:  the normally congenial Lindsay Graham finally losing his cool at the Democrats’ sleazy character assassination tactics (one all-time Senate low point being grilling Kavanaugh about a flatulence joke from his high school yearbook) and letting them have it with both barrels:

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2018/09/27/lindsey-graham-tears-into-democrats-over-sham-kavanaugh-hearing.html

The other was a much welcome example of grace and decency in the midst of the slimiest episode I can remember seeing in Washington possibly ever: when Kavanaugh said he bore no ill toward Dr. Ford and her family and was incredibly proud of his daughter Liza for suggesting that they pray for her.  He said, “That’s a lot of wisdom for a 10-year-old.”

It’s certainly a lot more wisdom than I’ve seen on display in the Senate recently.

Unbelievable

President Trump's press conference

Believe it or not, there were other things in the news yesterday besides wild, out-of-left-field sexual accusations against Brett Kavanaugh.  For instance, President Trump held a remarkable press conference in which, for 83 minutes, he took questions, poked fun at the media, and shot from the hip with blunt, no-holds-barred responses on everything from China to Canada to Syria to, yes, the allegations against Kavanaugh.

Naturally, the media went into full TDS meltdown mode afterward, hand-wringing that Trump’s comments were “outrageous,” “narcissistic” and “unhinged.”  They forgot to include “honest,” “refreshing” and “wildly entertaining.”  Also pretty darn remarkable for a man who allegedly is suffering dementia and can barely string two sentences together in meetings, according to at least one recent “insider” tell-all book.

https://youtu.be/mUBMH74OHtY?t=12m25s

Incidentally, look out for the cameo by CNN’s Jim Acosta attempting to play a journalist and lecture the President of the United States on how to conduct a press conference.  Polish up that Razzie Award for Worst Performance of 2018!  Here’s a direct link if you’re in a hurry.

Time to step aside folks

As I’ve watched the attacks on Judge Brett Kavanaugh move from their initial Salem Witch Trial interrogation phase into the full blown mass hysteria of a growing chorus of accusers screaming, “I saw goody Kavanaugh with the Devil!" (and Democrats insisting that the sheer numbers of people screaming hysterically make the story more likely to be true), one thing has become crystal clear:

It is time for someone to step aside from high office in DC.  And I’m not talking about Kavanaugh.  I am calling upon the following people to immediately “step aside” from their positions in the United States Senate:

Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), who declared that a “sworn allegation” was solid enough evidence to force Kavanaugh to withdraw; Chris Coons (D-DE), who said that Kavanaugh “bears the burden of disproving these allegations;” Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-HI), who managed to come out against both due process and free speech rights at once by saying that all men should just “shut up” when a woman makes a sexual assault allegation; Jeff Merkley (D-OR) and the list may yet grow longer.

Note that I’m being incredibly lenient by not including Senators Diane Feinstein (D-CA), Kamala Harris (D-CA) or Cory Booker (D-NJ), despite their outrageous, reprehensible and self-serving behavior during this period, only because, to my knowledge, they have not yet explicitly called for overthrowing due process rights and declaring Kavanaugh guilty on allegations alone unless he proves himself innocent.

Also please note: I am not calling on these Senators to resign for partisan reasons (I’d say the same to any Republican who similarly treated the Bill of Rights like a roll of Charmin); nor because I think that they are acting as vicious, unfair partisans without regard for the terrible damage they are doing to the social fabric of America, although that’s all true.  I’m calling upon them to resign because they have all publicly, blatantly and willfully violated their oaths of office.

This is the oath that all Americans take upon assuming the high responsibility of being a US Senator:

“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.”

Each and every one of the people I named above has now come out publicly against the sacred rights of due process, enumerated in the Bill of Rights (part of the Constitution.)  Although the presumption of innocence isn’t explicitly spelled out in the Constitution, it dates back to ancient Rome; it’s a bedrock of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights; it’s generally held to be an implied right by the 5th, 6th and 14th Amendments; and it was established as precedent in the case of “Coffin v. US” (1895.)

It is up to Judge Kavanaugh to decide whether dealing with this tsunami of slander is worth it or to step aside from consideration for the position of Supreme Court Justice.  But there is absolutely no question that the people I named above have violated their oath of office by misusing the power, publicity and prestige that comes with it to advocate for the shredding of basic civil rights enshrined in the very Constitution that they swore to “support and defend” as a condition of taking office.  Through their words and deeds, they have proven themselves unworthy to hold that office.

Therefore, I call upon them all to resign from the United States Senate.  Right now, before they do any more damage.

Or in their own parlance:  Do the right thing and step aside.

HHS cancels contract

This story happened Monday and got buried, but it’s too important to be overlooked: the Department of Health and Human Services has canceled a contract with Advanced Biomedical Resources to provide fetal body tissues for medical experiments.  In a statement, the HHS said, “HHS was not sufficiently assured that the contract included the appropriate protections applicable to fetal tissue research or met all other procurement requirements. As a result, that contract has been terminated.”

As a reminder, this is the company that was implicated in the undercover expose videos of Planned Parenthood workers allegedly discussing how much money they charged for selling various body parts of aborted children.  PP denied the allegation and tried to suppress the videos, but apparently, the HHS wasn’t convinced.

There’s much more detail at the link, along with a comment from the group behind the PP undercover videos noting that this is just a “small first step” in ending the trafficking of body parts of aborted children for taxpayer-funded medical experiments.  True, but a small first step is more than the victims of Planned Parenthood’s abortion mills ever get to take.

I listened very carefully to Dr. Ford and I was not swayed that she Is working on all 8 cylinders. Anytime Therapy is mentioned I'm sent back in time 40 years ago when I attended a show by a Hypnotist accompanied by my work mate. He was selected as a participant and it was funny watching him quack like a duck, etc. the show ended and he had earlier told two or three of the participants that in 12 hours they would repeat " We Need Oil" ( kind of appropriate since this was during the Oil Crisis in the 70's) . The next day as we were at lunch Bob stood and in a voice loud enough to be heard "WE NEED OIL". I quizzed him and he did not remember being given a POST Hypnotic Suggestion. He accused me of having drank too much and was just trying to embarrass him. Dr. Fords spotty memory leads me to believe that during therapy it was suggested she had been assaulted. I have no reason to believe this except for the fact I had a Son, since passed, that was subjected to hypnosis trying to overcome a drug problem and he could never remember anything about his sessions? He managed to kick his drug habit but AIDS caught up with him. The Drug Councilor would never admit to using hypnosis because to the best I could find out it was NOT accepted as ethical at the time and he thought I might cause him to lose his job.

I remember when a person could not get a problem taken care of by using the legal system or a standard public avenue. The person could look to the President of the nation for help , to over ride a hurdle. Now days for President Trump that's not the case. The Media governs and runs the country. The president is slandered, harassed , lied about and more. There is no accountability for disrespecting the President, seems like anyone can do it , now days. Years ago these things were punishable and against the law.

My heart is broken for Judge Kavanaugh and his family. Only by the grace of God has he been able to continue standing under this horrific treatment. The liberals should be totally ashamed of themselves, but they are not. I understand this isn't really about a claim of a sexual, it is an attempt to get a liberal appointed to the Supreme Court. It is so clear to me that they are using anything they can to stop this appointment at any cost. It is shameful. They are seeking power and power only. America will never be the same again if the liberals are effective in this campaign. To the liberals, I say woe unto you, you Pharisees. Thank you for being a source of information that I feel like I can trust.

Gov. Huckabee: Right on! The entire Democrate Committee needs to resign their positions for their outrageous conduct on the Judicial Committee that is destroying the Constitutional authority of Advise and Consent responsibility of the U.S. Senate. Why would anyone want to subject their entire life, career, families and reputation to serve in the government when subjected to such a national circus?

There's been a lot of political incidents during my 74 years, but I truly have never been so deeply saddened, embarrassed and frightened by some of our media and elected officials during the Kavanaugh proceedings. Equally, the joy some citizens are expressing in this crucification. I'm saddened for the Kavanaugh family in what, no matter the outcome, will be difficult recovery from the deep personal attack. I'm embarrassed that those we've elected have demonstrated such low moral standards and disregard for their job. I'm frightened this behavior gives others permission and teaches citizens and our youth to act the same way.

If Feinstein, et al, were really interested in truth, she would have referred the letter to the FBI for investigation the same day she received it in her office.
Instead, the Democrats held a 3-ring-circus and paid-off the performers who were arrested in the Senate chambers. Entertaining, but hardly the decorum we should expect of our representatives.
On the other hand, I am proud of how Grassley and the Republicans on the Judiciary Committee have bent over backwards to make Dr Ford comfortable and to treat her with respect.
They gave almost a week postponement to make sure the testimony could be heard.
They named Rachel Mitchell who oversees prosecution of sex crimes for the Maricopa County Arizona Attorney's office to do the questioning. She's a woman and a prosecutor and therefore can be expected to err toward the woman's side.
They offered to come to Palo Alto due to her alleged fear of flying although her attorney apparently didn't tell her about that.
It is now time to end this charade and vote.

I no longer consider democrats and liberals as true Americans. I see them as incredibly evil individuals, rediculing normal people for their choice to live clean life. I see them as enemies of Christ and God and His people. To prevent upcoming civil war on us, Christians, I would let them concentrate in liberal states, and all Republican people and businesses to move out to conservative states.
As a result of their ideology, these states eventually become like Detroit, Camden NJ and Bronx NY. They are heading to self-distraction with that liberal, homosexual , pro-abortion ideology. Let them destroy themselves as soon as possible, b4 they destroy us, our children and this God given Country.
I see no use to spend my life trying to argue and convince them that they are wrong.
To save judge Kavanah reputation, I think Trump should act more radical.
They should investigate accuser like and make her life and her children miserable. I am calling for Christian protest with slogan
"Liberals and Dems! STOP False Accusations on Kavanah!!!"

As a registered Republican, loyal supporter of President Trump, and defender of Judge Cavanaugh, I need to focus on what the REPUBLICANS perpetrated today. We all knew the Democrats would create a grand illusion. Taking the testimony of one individual that has no witnesses, is not corroborated in the least, and presented at a time to derail the approval process. All that is expected. What is sickening, revolting, and very troubling was to view the tact taken by the Judiciary Committee. To have no retort to the trash spewed forth by each Democratic senator, to not respond to specific allegations, and to have no intention of defending Judge Cavanaugh is unforgivable. That was the Republican plan, a plan of total and complete abdication. The absurdity of thinking five minutes intervals of questions followed by segments of lies and accusations by the Dems was not an error in judgement but direct intent of the Republicans to avoid any involvement. Tomorrow I leave the Republican Party for good to join the Conservative Party. I can no longer be proud to be a Republican.

    LISTEN TO ME:
Genuine grave emotion ebbs and flows. When recounting a tragic event, it is normal to be overcome with tears here and there throughout the recitation of a lengthy written statement talking about it. We saw this with Brett Kavanaugh's opening statement. One of his memorable trigger moments was talking about how this whole mess has affected his 10 year old daughter.

But with genuine emotion, you pull yourself together and soldier on. At least for a bit. You may relapse later.

Now, contrast genuinely spontaneous displays of emotion that come and go like Kavanaugh's, with Ford's opening statement. HER VOICE NEVER CHANGED. She maintained the same gravelly, ostensibly shaky-with-tears voice, throughout the entire statement. She is supposedly on the verge of tears, or actually crying, for 17 solid minutes. THIS IS NOT HUMAN NATURE. Either you break down, or you pull yourself together. Her emotion was a forced fabrication, period.

The ONLY time her voice changed was when she recounted online harassment. Why did her voice change then? Because that emotion is real. I don't doubt for one second she has received much vitriol.

I will graciously add that faked emotion does not necessarily mean she was never a victim of assault. It could simply mean that 36 years have passed and the experience is nowhere near as raw as it once was. But she feels to be believed, she must appear to be crying. Look at her closely. Not a single tear fell from her face.

And that is where my generosity ends. The much more likely explanation is that she knows Brett Kavanaugh is not her attacker, hence the need to force emotion. I would not even be surprised if she made the whole thing up when she originally talked about it in her counseling session as part of some kind of master manipulation plan targeting her husband for a guilt trip. Anyone that would fake emotion about a crime this serious could very likely have schizoid personality disorder. Total fabrication of the entire story may be unlikely, but it is not completely off the table.

I completely agree with your assessment of the Kavanaugh hearing today. You brought up the same points (for both sides) that my husband and I noticed in the hearing. We're faithfully praying that God's desire and plan will be carried out in the votes. We were touched by the prayer that Judge Kavanaugh's 10-yr-old daughter suggested for "the lady" (out of the mouth of babes...), and also for the grace that he and his family are showing toward Ford, who obviously does have real problems. I was so impressed with Judge Kavanaugh that I'd really like to have an opportunity to meet him and his family!

I wasn't able to watch the hearings today because I knew it would be despicable and I have had about all I can take of those despicable Democrats. What an embarrassment they are. I was hoping your take would make me feel better and it did. My heart breaks for the Kavanaugh family. I prayed for him all day and continue to pray for him and his family and their healing from this travesty. I was thankful for my senator, Lindsey Graham and his courage to put the despicable Democrats in their place. I pray Judge Kavanaugh is approved but honestly, if he isn't, who in their right mind would want to be subjected to this "sham" as Lindsey Graham described it? All because the Democrats want women to have the right to murder their children. Like Judge Kavanaugh will step in and change the law. He is not an activist judge like the Democrats put on the court so he knows he doesn't make laws or change them. The Bible says, as you well know, that in the end times, right will be wrong and wrong will be right, I think we are there.

I watched today while doing other things, but the conduct of the Democrats today was typical - attack and destroy take no prisoners! They have fallen far below anything ever seen before. To grill a human being like they did is reprehensible! I wonder what they will say to God when they have to appear before Him some day!! Like they are so pure!!! The Obama/Clinton era was the worst in history and no one grilled any of them like this - that is reprehensible as well. What has our government turned into - a lynch mob so they can have total rule under their regime!!!! God forbid! I pray for the Kavanaugh family that God will give them courage to see this debacle through and hopefully have some sort of life after it is over! If they get away with this, what can the every-day human being do when they are attacked for no reason and thrown into a concentration camp or hauled off to jail for no reason - just like the poor Jews and Poles and everyone who didn't believe in Hitler! America has strayed far far away from God and I pray that He will hear the prayers being sent His way each and every day to save this country in spite of the Dems!!

Surely someone within Trumps administration is looking into why Dr. Ford? Not just any woman from high school...someone pretty, intelligent, educated, someone “credible & believable”. She definitely sounded afraid, but was it because she’s being blackmailed? Has someone in her family suddenly gone missing and is being held hostage? I just wonder if they ever questioned why a 15 year old Dr. Ford was at a collegiate party to begin with and why she would be parading around a group of 17 year old boys in a one piece uncovered bathing suit inside the house as she described at the beginning of story.

And why would her parents let their underage girl attend something like that?

I don't believe I heard those issues being addressed.

I won’t comment in detail on the Kavanaugh hearings today because as of this writing, they’re still going on.  Just to make a few early observations:

Crazy conspiracy I agree, but gosh, you just have to wonder!

HHS cancels contract

This story happened Monday and got buried, but it’s too important to be overlooked: the Department of Health and Human Services has canceled a contract with Advanced Biomedical Resources to provide fetal body tissues for medical experiments.  In a statement, the HHS said, “HHS was not sufficiently assured that the contract included the appropriate protections applicable to fetal tissue research or met all other procurement requirements.

Everyone knows if Kevenough gets elected he will vote against Abortion.

Is violating an oath of office a prosecutable crime? If so, who needs to prefer charges against those you named? How do we stir up that person(s) to do the right thing?

If they should resign, and do not then, The Ethics committee or some body should investigate them. Would feel like a little "whirlwind" reaping.

Gov. Mike, thanks for all you do to provide some balance and common sense...

Gov. just to say that it is such a blessing to hear on national TV about an oncoming program that is reminding students to "not forget to bring their Bibles to school". As I'm in my sr. yrs, I thought I would never again think that this would ever happen. I do give our POTUS credit for this wonderful new MAGA! God Bless to You!

Crazy conspiracy I agree, but gosh, you just have to wonder!

As always, right on target Governor !!! Our government needs to get a grip. Sad that when we were attacked on 9/11, our Congress met on the Capitol steps for prayer, then, almost a day later, went back to their fighting like children. Wish they would begin each day with prayer and scripture. Maybe they would find some answers from The Source that has them.
God Bless You Governor !!! Keep up the great work. Big fan !!!

AMEN!!! You have not overspoken the call for those Senators to resign! As I stated in response to you previously, these Democratic Committee Senators and their “leadership” are not worthy of their position and should resign!
I find them to be part of the current coup against this United States of America!
