Today's Commentary --- Mueller's wayward witnesses, part 2 -- Vitamin H -- Climate change and cars -- More on GM -- The Baltic Experience 2019 -- Christmas at the White House -- Another ridiculous idea -- Evening Edition - The Scroll -- Daily Verse
After my commentary yesterday about Robert Mueller’s wayward witnesses, a lot more has come out about the special counsel’s treatment of Jerome Corsi and Paul Manafort. (Not so much about George Papadopoulos, however, as he’s cooling his heels in a medium-security Wisconsin prison for 14 days.)
Corsi appeared on Tuesday’s Tucker Carlson show and demonstrated that he’s not going along quietly with what the special counsel would have him do. Mueller is trying to piece together his and fellow conservative author Roger Stone’s relationship (if one exists) with Julian Assange of WikiLeaks, who leaked John Podesta’s emails, which were damaging to Hillary and the DNC during the 2016 campaign.
Jerome Corsi is often dismissed as an Infowars conspiracy theorist, infamous for his furthering of the “birther” theory that suggested Obama was actually born in Kenya and therefore wasn’t qualified to be President. (He was also accused of being racist for this, although the theory is no more racist than questioning the qualifications of a white person who might possibly have been born in, say, South Africa.) But, as Carlson pointed out on his show, Corsi, age 72, has a Ph.D. in political science from Harvard and has written two New York Times bestsellers. The felony charges he may be facing could easily put him behind bars for the rest of his life.

Thanks to reader Kipp B, who wrote to express appreciation for the Huckabee Newsletter. He had a great line: “Have you taken your Vitamin H today?”
This made me curious about the real Vitamin H, so I looked it up. Vitamin H, more commonly known as biotin, helps the body metabolize food and supports healthy hair, nails, eyes and liver. It also helps the nervous system function properly.
That makes perfect sense, especially if you get your Vitamin H every day in the form of the Huckabee Newsletter! If you do, your digestion will be better, your hair will be less likely to fall out due to stress, your nails won’t be bitten to the quick, your eyes won’t glaze over from reading boring material, your liver will be healthier because you’ll be less likely to drown your sorrows in booze, and you will be less nervous than if you were focused on ‘mainstream’ news.
So...be sure to take your Vitamin H, every day!
Climate change and cars
By Mike Huckabee
You’ve probably heard about that new federal government “climate change” report that predicts apocalyptic global warming if we don’t all move into caves and start eating gravel (I paraphrase.) You’ll hear a lot about it in the media, but you probably won’t hear much about the sources and methodology that caused the report to predict catastrophic warming that’s two times the most extreme prediction made in UN forecasts, and many experts are now disputing those. And unless you click on this link, you probably won’t know that it’s based on research funded by two very wealthy Democrat donors, one of whom is one of President Trump’s most virulent critics.
As the University of Colorado professor who analyzed the report and pointed out its “embarrassing” flaws puts it, can you imagine the media response to a report that refuted manmade climate change if it had been funded by Exxon?
“Democratic” Socialists such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez are waving around that new government climate change report as justification for massive emergency legislation in the form of a “Green New Deal,” which would, like the old New Deal, bloat the government and reduce freedom and prosperity. The promised silver lining would be millions of government-created “green jobs.”
It’s worth reminding those with poor short-term memories that we’ve driven down this dead end before, and not that long ago. The most famous of many examples of the government trying to pick winners and losers in the marketplace was the Solyndra solar panel company, which took about half a billion dollars of our tax money, built a luxurious headquarters, then immediately assumed room temperature.
On a related topic, the day that GM unveiled the Chevy Volt electric/gas hybrid, President Obama declared that he would buy one when he was out of office. He’s been out of office for almost two years now, and he could actually afford a Volt without a government subsidy, but there’s never been any report of him buying one. And now (sad trombone sound), he’s lost his chance.
Hybrids aren’t selling because most consumers want a gas-powered car while the green-oriented types want an all-electric car. GM announced that it will cease production of the Volt and its small gas-powered counterpart, the Cruze, as part of a restructuring to cut back on unpopular sedans and “focus production around the bigger vehicles in favor with U.S. consumers.” Those are the same Americans who always favor bigger vehicles as long as gas is affordable, which it is now because it turns out that not being able to drill our way out of an oil shortage was yet another thing Obama was wrong about.

More on GM
By Mike Huckabee
Speaking of things that Obama wasted billions of tax dollars on and was wrong about, remember his self-congratulations for his bailout of the auto industry saving all those jobs? Well, GM has decided to close seven North American plants, including a plant in Lordstown, Ohio, and cut 15% of its work force. That's set them on a collision course with President Trump.
GM blames the move on “changing customer preferences in the U.S. and…market-related volume declines in cars,” and the need to shift its focus to all-electric and autonomous vehicles.
“Autonomous cars” means self-driving cars, which I suspect are farther away from being safe and accepted by the public than a lot of people want to believe. Aside from giving up control of the brakes and the steering wheel to a computer, there are other problems that nobody wants to talk about, like motion sickness:
And “backfield in motion” sickness:
There’s also the question of whether it’s really going to reduce CO2 emissions and pollution to have everyone driving an electric car, when those cars will all come with environmentally-harmful batteries that have to be constantly charged from some power-generating source. Renewable energy production has been rising, thanks to free market investment in the most efficient, profitable new technologies. But it won’t be enough to power billions of electric cars or all the electric tow trucks needed to haul in the crashed self-driving cars.
If all the green leftist politicians really wanted to do something to make energy production cleaner and more efficient, they would slash some of the ossified regulations they’ve built up to prevent anyone from building new nuclear power plants. But does anyone seriously believe that’s going to be part of the “Green New Deal”? That would require “progressives” to actually embrace an idea that was new. I bet we’ll see safe self-driving cars long before we see that.

Christmas at the White House
By Mike Huckabee
Let’s start the day with a break from all the divisive, hateful political vitriol: First Lady Melania Trump unveiled this year’s breathtakingly beautiful White House Christmas decorations. At the link is a video (you’ll want to hit “pause” often), and don’t miss the link on the bottom of the page to see more info and photos on Christmas at the White House.
And for those who can’t get through their day without a pointless two-minute hate that just reminds everyone of how scarily small-minded some people can be, here’s a story about how leftist trolls on Twitter viciously attacked the First Lady for unveiling the White House Christmas decorations. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that maybe this year, Santa will bring them a life.
Another ridiculous idea
By Mike Huckabee
Another brilliant suggestion from New York Representative-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: instead of 5,000 troops to guard our border, send 5,000 case workers to process all the visa applications. She tweeted that it would save an “enormous amt of resources. But we don’t talk about the financial recklessness of GOP admins, do we?”
Sure, I can think of no better way to reduce reckless spending than to open up our borders to everyone in the world who wants to come here, at the same we have politicians like her pushing for Medicare for All, free college for all, guaranteed government jobs and a guaranteed wage. But I don’t think 5,000 case workers would be able to handle the crowds. How about 5 million?
And how would we cover the cost of 5 million immigration case workers? Well, she already told us: you “just pay for it.”
On behalf of all the conservative bloggers in America: Thanks, New York voters.
