Here’s an update on the latest leftist virtue signaling by Ben & Jerry’s, the premium ice cream for wealthy, decadent socialists. I reported that the brand announced it would not sell its ice cream in “occupied Palestinian territory,” meaning certain parts of Israel, a move that got it praised by the anti-Semitic BDS (Boycott, Divest, Sanction) movement. The prime minister of Israel warned parent company Unilever of “severe consequences” for its boycott decision. Well, here they come…

https://redstate.com/bonchie/2021/07/19/the-stock-market-tumbles-and-joe-bidens-response-is-unbelievable-n413091

First of all, that article points out that no part of Israel is “occupied Palestinian territory.” Israel took over the West Bank when it won the 1967 war against Jordan and its Arab allies, and the Israelis have a claim on that territory going back to Biblical times.

More to the current point, Israeli law requires local distributors to sell products in all of Israel, so this is an illegal decision that could get Ben & Jerry’s removed from the entire nation’s store shelves. In addition, 35 US states have made it illegal to boycott Israel, which hurts both Israelis and Palestinians, so they might have opened up a legal can of worms in two-thirds of the US. Finally, a number of grocers in the New York area and beyond announced that they will stop carrying Ben & Jerry’s ice cream over this.

Moral: Don’t let radical leftists run your ice cream company if you don’t want your business to suffer a complete meltdown.

I usually don’t spend too much time on political developments in other nations because Americans aren’t that interested. But the replacement of Benjamin Netanyahu after 12 years as Prime Minister of Israel is not an Israeli news item, it’s a story that affects the entire world.

https://www.foxnews.com/world/netanyahu-goes-scorched-earth-in-last-speech-swipes-at-biden-administration-over-iran

After a 60-59 vote in the Parliament, Netanyahu was replaced by Naftali Bennett, who is backed by a fractious coalition ranging from Israel hawks to Islamic Arabs. The major concern with a coalition that covers the entire spectrum of left to right is whether there can be consensus without capitulation on critical issues such as sovereignty in Judea and Samaria and building on the Abraham Accords.

Netanyahu has been the focus of Israel haters worldwide because there has never been so tough, eloquent or resolute a defender of Israel’s right to exist and to defend itself from those who aim to eradicate it. The elites who are always pushing Israel to compromise more never explain how you can compromise with people who want to kill every Jew. By letting them kill half the Jews?

In a strong outgoing speech, Netanyahu said that Iran is "celebrating" his loss because "they understand that starting today, there will be a weak and unstable government that will align with the dictates of the international community." He also revealed that he had privately warned President Biden that his attempts to reinstate the Obama Iran nuke deal would pave the way “for Iran to have an arsenal of nuclear weapons with international legitimacy." He even compared Biden’s blindness to the consequences to FDR’s tragic failure to bomb the train tracks leading to Auschwitz when he had a chance in 1944.

He also predicted that he will soon be back. I hope it’s not under similar circumstances to Winston Churchill’s replacement of British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain after a period when he was out of government. He came back because Britain’s leaders tried to appease the Nazis and ended up needing a tough, resolute leader to win World War II.

Benjamin Netanyahu has been a personal friend of mine for many years, and I’m not sure the people of Israel fully appreciate his statecraft that has led to unprecedented peace, prosperity, and security not just for Israel, but for the entire Middle East. It will take years for the new leadership to develop the depth of relationships that Netanyahu had fostered over his 12 consecutive years and 15 total.

Having said that, Israel is where it is because of God, not any one man or political party. I’ve also known Naftali Bennett for over 10 years and have high hopes that he will use his very significant executive skills to keep Israel stable and secure. I hope all my Christian friends will join me as we “pray for the peace of Jerusalem.”

I have always believed that words have consequences, so you should choose them carefully. Many on the left take that to an extreme and claim that words are equivalent to violence and should be criminalized. Even now, they’ve banned former President Trump from social media and are still trying to blame him for the Capitol violence, just because he urged his supporters to “peacefully and patriotically protest.”

Well, if they want to criminalize speech that genuinely incites violent and racist assaults, then they’d better start lining up at the nearest federal prison because their pro-Hamas, anti-Israel rhetoric is definitely inciting their followers to commit horrifying and disgusting acts of anti-Semitism. There are so many, I’m not going to try to list them all, but I’ll link to this article that compiles a shocking number of them from across America.

Mostly (surprise) in blue cities, they range from random threats hurled at Jewish families by passing drivers to outright attacks, such as two cars adorned with Palestinian flags, their occupants yelling, “Allahu akbar!” as they tried to run down a Jewish man who was walking home from Synagogue in Los Angeles…

https://www.foxnews.com/us/la-jewish-man-chased-palestinian-flags-yelling-allahu-akbar

…to someone throwing commercial fireworks at Jewish people out of a car in Manhattan, and a pro-Palestinian gang viciously beating an older man in Times Square who was wearing a yarmulke.

These incidents sound like something out of Nazi Germany, and it’s sickening to see them happening in the United States. It’s even more appalling to hear allegedly responsible, high-ranking elected officials in the Democratic Party, media figures and social activists like the leaders of BLM make outrageous false equivalencies between Hamas militants hiding behind human shields as they fire hundreds of rockets at Israeli civilians, and Israel retaliating by carefully targeting the Hamas leaders and giving up their own element of surprise by warning civilians to get clear before a strike.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/democratic-groups-palestinians-denounce-israeli-actions

If you are genuinely incapable of telling the difference between the brutal, heartless terrorism of Hamas and Israel doing its best to defend itself and stop the threat to its people while trying to protect innocent Palestinians, then you are either mentally deficient or so warped by your sick anti-Semitism that you might as well be.

Over the past year, we’ve all had to endure the most disgusting levels of hypocrisy from top level Democrats, as they excused, enabled and justified a year’s worth of violent riots, only to turn on a dime and describe one day of violent protest in the Capitol as the worst insurrection since the Civil War. Now, they have turned on a dime again and are publicly cheering on outright terrorists firing missiles at Israeli civilians, falsely condemning Israel as the aggressor, and obviously encouraging anti-Semitic hatred and violence on our own shores.

If they have any consciences whatsoever, they should hang their heads in shame and immediately and publicly denounce this violence that their rhetoric has encouraged. Sadly, they’re showing few indications that they are capable of that kind of soul-searching or self-awareness.

If it is possible, however, maybe it will be thanks to this amazing 10-year-old Israeli girl, whose heartfelt and heartbreaking video response to alleged comedian John Oliver’s condescending denunciations of Israel went viral. Let us pray this will be powerful enough to smash through the thick bubble of safety, privilege and smugness in which Oliver and other American liberals who actually take him seriously reside.

The left in America is once again making it clear that for all their accusations of Republicans being bigots, they have long been reflexively anti-Israel, and the anti-Semitism behind that political stance has never been more obvious. So far this week, as Israel has defended itself against hundreds of missiles launched by Hamas terrorists at its civilian men, women and children, here’s how America’s Democrat leaders have responded:

President Biden is reportedly pressuring Israel to call a ceasefire, even while they’re still under attack. Even that’s not enough for far-left “Squad” members like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who are criticizing Biden for not being harsh enough in condemning Israel for defending itself.

On a 217-209 party line vote, House Democrats blocked a Republican bill to apply sanctions on Hamas militants and on foreign entities that are supplying Hamas with funding that supports its terrorism. The same bill passed the House unanimously in 2019, but wasn’t taken up for a vote in the Senate

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/house-democrats-block-bill-sanctioning-hamas-financial-supporters

This kind of pro-Hamas propaganda from the top is filtering down to Democrat voters. In a new Trafalger poll, nearly twice as many Democrats blamed Israel for the violence in Gaza than blamed Hamas or the Palestinian Authority combined, despite the fact that Israel is acting in response to hundreds of missiles being launched by Hamas at its civilian population centers.

The most egregious of all is “Squad” leftist Rep. Rashida Tlaib, who claims Palestinian heritage and is openly siding with Hamas and spreading slanderous falsehoods about Israel. Rep. Dan Crenshaw shared a video from Arab journalist Yoseph Haddad, who lives in Israel and who ripped her claims to shreds. This is a MUST-READ:

https://www.westernjournal.com/dan-crenshaw-shares-devastating-video-palestinians-lives-not-matter-rashida/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=huckabee

Haddad said that while Tlaib accuses Israel of unprovoked violence against Arab Muslims, Hamas has fired over 1600 rockets (“each one a war crime”) into Israel, where Arab Muslims like him also live. He said she makes “no mention of the fact that Hamas murdered Israeli Arab Muslims in Lod, no mention of the fact that Palestinians started a violent riot…which is why police were forced to [be] involved in the first place. No mention of the fact that this terrorist organization is targeting 1.9 million Israeli Arabs or that they have already murdered 17 Palestinians in Gaza with rockets intended to hit Israel. Do those Palestinians’ lives not matter, Rashida?”

She even blamed Israel for a power failure in Gaza that Haddad points out was actually caused by an errant Hamas missile, and it’s hardly the first time that’s happened.

Haddad went on to blast Tlaib for trying to hijack the Palestinian cause the same way she tries to hijack the black struggle in America to make it about herself, concluding, “Rashida, I’m telling you, as an Arab-Israeli on the ground, your words contribute to division and violence in my country…you don’t have to live with the consequences. Represent your people — in Michigan. Because you sure as hell…don’t represent us.”

I have nothing to add other than to point out that she also uses her words to contribute to division and violence in this country and seems to have zero interest in representing the people of Michigan either. If she were really concerned about racism, she might acknowledge her own, since as Dennis Prager has pointed out, anti-Semitism is the worst form of racism because it seeks to exterminate an entire ethnicity.

Prager also has an excellent premium article in the Epoch Times in which he observes that the dispute Hamas and its backers in Iran have with Israel isn’t over anything Israel has done, it’s over Israel’s existence. And nothing will satisfy them short of Israel agreeing to destroy itself, which also seems to be what it would take to satisfy American leftists like Tlaib. As Prager writes:

“For most (not all) Muslims and for most (not all) Muslim states and for the left, there is room in the world for 22 Arab countries and for more than 50 Muslim countries, but there is no room for one Jewish state, even one the size of New Jersey and smaller than El Salvador.”

The New York Post posed a question that I addressed a couple of days ago, about the AP’s claims that it was unaware Hamas was sharing their building in Gaza that Israel leveled (the AP ridiculously called that a “war crime” to “silence the media,” even though Israel gave them advance warning to clear out of the building.) The Post asked, "If the A.P. didn't know it was sharing space with terrorists, how can we trust its reporting?”

https://www.westernjournal.com/ny-post-ap-didnt-know-sharing-space-terrorists-can-trust-reporting/

I’ll point out that I already answered that question: we can’t trust its reporting, at least not from Gaza. That branch of the A.P. has a long history of covering up for Hamas, including not reporting when Hamas threatened them or that missiles were being fired from right outside their own building, and turning off their cameras at hospitals when wounded militant fighters arrived, to give the illusion that only civilians were being injured by IDF retaliatory strikes.

https://victorygirlsblog.com/yes-associated-press-did-know-hamas-was-in-the-building/

One of their own reporters slipped up and accidentally reported the truth in 2014, that Hamas regularly operated in and around the A.P.’s building.

So if it’s any conciliation, the answer to the Post’s question isn’t “No, we can’t trust them because they’re too stupid to be competent reporters." It’s “No, we can’t trust them because they’re lying propagandists for Hamas terrorists." Is that really any better?

Predictably for a Democrat Administration, President Biden is reportedly pressuring the Israelis to “wind down” their offensive in Gaza.

https://www.newsmax.com/politics/israel-palestinians-diplomacy/2021/05/18/id/1021869/

Hamas is still firing rockets at Israel, but liberals think that nine days of fighting to stop them is enough and Israel should pull back now. Where have I heard this strategy before, of pulling out before the enemy that attacked you is defeated? Oh yes, it was under Obama/Biden, when the troop pullout to meet an election deadline created a vacuum that allowed for the rise of ISIS.

How about if the Biden White House lets Israel make its own decisions about protecting its people? They’re obviously far more competent at it than anyone in the Biden White House.

Case in point: House lawmakers are frustrated with the Biden White House’s “total lack of a sense of urgency or a plan” to aid thousands of Afghans who worked as interpreters and in other jobs for the US. They’re in danger of being hunted down and killed by the Taliban after Biden pulls all our troops out by September 11th. Florida Republican Rep. Michael Waltz, a former Green Beret who worked with Afghan interpreters, said, “The day the last U.S. soldier goes wheels up out of Bagram air base, we’ve handed these people a death sentence.”

https://www.politico.com/news/2021/05/18/lawmakers-visas-afghans-us-troops-489290

House members sent a bipartisan letter to Biden on April 21st, urging him to expedite special immigrant visas for Afghans who helped Americans. The average time to process a visa is 800 days, there are now only 115 days until the planned Afghanistan pullout, and Biden hasn’t even responded to the letter they sent nearly a month ago. It sounds as if he put Kamala Harris in charge of it.

The State Department says it added staffers to process the visas, but that’s not sufficient considering the “massive bureaucratic delays” they have to deal with.

Does anyone else get the feeling that if we still had Trump in the White House, those bureaucratic delays would be cleared out of the way if it meant saving thousands of lives?

President Biden’s suggestion of a ceasefire is being ignored, and understandably, since most Western liberals who call for ceasefires in the Middle East really mean that Israel should refrain from responding with deadly force when its own people are attacked without provocation. In this case, not only are attacks continuing to come from Gaza, but there were reports of missiles being fired at Israel from Lebanon as well.

https://www.foxnews.com/world/live-updates-biden-expresses-support-for-a-cease-fire-in-call-with-israeli-prime-minister-benjamin-netanyahu

The Washington Post seems upset that Israel’s Iron Dome defense is working so well. Even though it saves innocent Israeli lives, and prevents a bloody ground war that would kill innocent Palestinians, it prevents Israel from having to knuckle under to international pressure to compromise with terrorists, which is a bad thing, apparently. Incidentally, this is a two-fer of dumb liberal know-it-all-ism, since it also reminds us that the liberal “fact-checkers” of the Reagan era assured us that missile defense systems like Iron Dome, which they derided as trying to “shoot a bullet with a bullet,” were physically impossible.

https://redstate.com/streiff/2021/05/18/washington-post-frets-that-iron-dome-means-not-enough-israeli-civilians-are-getting-killed-for-hamas-to-win-n382056

Israel announced that its fighter jets had destroyed a length of Hamas’ terrorist tunnels equal to “163 football fields, 46 Eiffel Towers, 34 Empire State Buildings, 18 Burj Khalifas, and nearly 2 Mount Everests.” They said that’s 9.3 miles of tunnels that can no longer be used to facilitate terrorist strikes.

https://www.westernjournal.com/israel-destroys-miles-terror-tunnels-kills-senior-islamic-jihad-commander/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=huckabee

The IDF is also targeting structures used by Hamas, which includes liquidating a number of top terrorist leaders. One of them killed on Monday afternoon was Hussam Abu Harbid, aka “Abu Ubaida,” the commander of the Northern Brigade of the Saraya al-Quds, the armed wing of the Palestine Islamic Jihad. The Islamic Jihad confirmed his death, calling him a “beloved martyr.”

Ironically, he’s believed to have been one of the top planners of the missile strikes on Israeli citizens that set off this massive retaliation, as well as a number of previous such attacks going back 15 years. The IDF tweeted, “He won’t be committing any more terrorist attacks.”

Speaking of Israel destroying buildings that Hamas uses to plan terror attacks, that story from the Associated Press about them being “shocked and horrified” that Israel destroyed their building and that they had no idea Hamas supposedly met there has just been blown up like a Hamas terrorist leader. Someone dug up an A.P. article from 2014 that reported that Hamas regularly operated in and around the A.P. office in Gaza.

https://townhall.com/tipsheet/mattvespa/2021/05/16/israel-shared-intelligence-to-us-showing-hamas-operated-inside-building-where-ap-aljazeera-had-offices-n2589525

And while we’re at it, here’s more on how A.P. operatives in Gaza actively slant their reporting to cover up for Hamas and make Israel look like the violent oppressors. So cry us a river about your office being a pile of rubble.
