“...Having tried the President for treason and [seeing him] found not guilty, they now want to get him for shoplifting and execute him anyway.”

That was Darrell Issa on Maria Bartiromo’s show on Easter Sunday, and he just about nailed it. Of course, a perfect analogy would mention that the President didn’t even ‘shoplift’; he only thought about it (as in, firing Mueller) and, after getting a dose of reality from his lawyers, ultimately decided not to do it. He obstructed nothing. Just the oppostite: Trump ended up being amazingly transparent with investigators, turning over about 1.4 million documents, never invoking executive privilege and even, in effect, waiving attorney-client privilege by allowing his attorney to talk with investigators for over 30 hours.

But remember, the Democrats –- even former high government officials who for some reason still had their security clearances –- spun some big tales and made sure that President Trump was investigated for TREASON. They flat-out lied and accused him of being an agent of Vladimir Putin. (I realize they don’t like his tweets, but, really, a firing squad??) They’ve been yammering about this for so long that I think many Americans have lost sight of the atomic magnitude of such an accusation.

And, of course, the media played along, with fake story after fake story and constant “treason” hype. (They should be embarrassed right now but they’re not, or at least they hide it well. With few exceptions, they’re just getting pricklier and are doubling down.) They all thought that surely the special counsel would be able to get Trump on...something...but there was just nothing. So Mueller had to produce “Part II” of his report on “obstruction” as a gift to Trump’s accusers, still containing nothing substantial but phrased in a way that left the door open to more accusation, more investigation and maybe impeachment.

When Bartiromo asked Issa if Attorney General Bill Barr would be following the truth –- meaning there would be accountability for opening an investigation into Trump for, as she correctly put it, “no other reason than that they just wanted to stop him and didn’t like him” --- Issa said that Barr, being a by-the-book sort, would investigate but in an eminently reasonable, pragmatic, non-political way. In Issa’s words, “There’s a real question of ‘Does he go after that kind of crooked politics, or only after someone who made a false official statement?’ And, again, that’s where this attorney general, unlike Eric Holder, he’s not a wing man to the President; he’s a by-the-book law enforcement person with a flawless history in this job.”

Barr has already said he will investigate, as he believes spying (yes, SPYING) did occur and that he needs to find out if the SPYING was properly “predicated,” meaning there was just cause. Knowing what we know about the origins of the Steele “dossier” and the content of the FISA application to spy on Carter Page (what it included and, perhaps more significantly, what it left out), it’s hard to imagine that Barr would conclude it was done by the book. It most certainly was not, just as the Hillary email investigation followed nothing close to the usual procedure. But being the conscientious law enforcement professional he is, he has to go into an investigation without his mind made up. If only Trump’s investigators had had that kind of integrity.

On the other hand, I have to respectfully disagree with Issa’s suggestion that “crooked politics” shouldn’t be investigated, especially when it appears to have infested our own government institutions: the Obama FBI, DOJ, CIA and State Department. This kind of crooked politics is most seriously against the LAW. I’m reminded of the way legal expert Alan Dershowitz characterizes what Hillary’s campaign did; he calls her misdeeds “political sins” and doesn’t like the idea of going after her. (He supported Hillary in 2016, and I find it a fascinating comment on human nature and our capacity for denial that he is able to rationalize not “going there,” even with all the evidence of actual lawbreaking on her part.)

Should crooked politics be off-limits to law enforcement? That would make it like a sharia community where the police don’t go. (We can’t have that, either, but I digress.) If laws are broken in the name of politics, there needs to be accountability. If there’s evidence that candidate Donald Trump conspired with a foreign power, we need accountability. If there’s evidence that candidate Hillary Clinton violated the Espionage Act while secretary of state and destroyed thousands of subpoenaed documents, we likewise need accountability. Equal justice. But there wasn’t any real evidence against Trump; it was made up by his political opponents. There IS evidence against Hillary, and plenty of it. Just as there is evidence that the FBI, as directed by then-AG Loretta Lynch, gave her special treatment and saved her candidacy.

Dershowitz does deserve a great deal of credit for staying objective on the “Trump/Russia” investigation when he has been absolutely pummeled for that by the left-wing media. In fact, he says he knows for sure that CNN banned him. “What they didn’t want,” he said in an interview Sunday with Howard Kurtz, “was a centrist liberal who went against their narrative...They did not want my kind of analysis.” He noted that CNN preferred the analysis they got from their “go-to guy,” Michael Avenati. Ouch!

In the introduction Dershowitz wrote to the special counsel report, he says that Mueller got the law on obstruction of justice “completely wrong.” He says it’s not “obstruction” when a President exercises his constitutional authority; case closed. He also agrees with Trey Gowdy that the report shouldn’t have been released to the public. That’s the kind of legal analysis CNN had to keep off their air. Dershowitz gives the media in general an “F” (“even with grade-flation,” he said) for their coverage, which was “awful, terrible.” As he told Howard Kurtz, “I think we’re seeing an elimination of the distinction between the editorial page and the news pages, in some of the leading media in the country.”

Anyway, Darrell Issa says that Congress’s never-ending and ever-expanding investigations of Trump –- led by Jerry Nadler, Elijah Cummings and Adam Schiff (who has dishonestly maintained for many months that he has real evidence of a Trump/Russia conspiracy) –- are their strategy for covering up the way the “Trump/Russia” probe started. Absolutely right...

AG Barr will be testifying before Congress soon, on May 2, and we can look for committee Democrats and the media to treat him shamefully. In fact, they already are, hoping to discredit him and thus to negate any conclusion he makes down the road about the origins of the “Trump/Russia” investigation and special counsel. Barr used his judgment and did what was required of him (actually, more) under the law; he knew that as the messenger he was going to be shot, that he would be savaged for anything even the slightest bit fair to the President. He didn’t mislead anyone, and even if he had wanted to, it would have been ridiculous and pointless to try, as he knew he’d be releasing the full Mueller report shortly. The Wall Street Journal has got the Democrats’ number on this and came out with a great op-ed over the weekend...

Let me also point you to Mark Levin’s weekend interview with Byron York; together they sum up the whole “Russia” mess beautifully --- how it got started, what happened and where it goes from here. And on Sunday, Levin followed up with another show on his own, magnificently exposing the special counsel for what it was. I recommend them highly. Both are at the link:

A postscript –- Here’s how Rep. Adam Schiff ended his interview on FOX News Sunday with Chris Wallace: “The Mueller report makes it absolutely crystal clear that the initiation of this investigation was not only warranted but absolutely necessary, because it revealed a widespread, systemic effort by the Russians to help the Trump campaign, and that, I think, is the overriding conclusion of this report. And we need, I think, to put our emphasis on making sure that kind of intervention never happens again.”

Ah. Actually, that’s right (even a broken clock is right twice a day), but it’s a far cry from “I have evidence that Trump is a TRAITOR!!” Notice that this statement conveniently omits any involvement on the part of Trump. We did need to look into Russian interference, but there was no legitimate reason for Trump to be caught up in that.

I love your show on TV and all the Tweets you make! I wish we had many more patriots just like you and your lovely, courageous daughter!
The whole Russian collusion hoax has really grown tiresome. All that talk about waiting for Mueller's report and that it was going to make all the DemocRATS dreams come true is a massive is like a never ending SNL skit. I will soon be 64 years old and I have NEVER seen politicians this rabid and illogical in my life! And I have studied history and politics all my life. I pray that Trump and his administration can keep us out of a civil war. It may come to that with the country split in half on what they believe the truth really is. Very scary!

this really cracks me up. Mike, There was no crime so how can there be obstruction. If Trump believes he is NOT under investigation, he can't obstruct something he knows nothing about. You are right, there ws so much transparency it was shocking. Dems should take note, but we KNOW they won't. So dems are going to be make to look so foolish when they are demanded to produce a crime. They can't, collusion is NOT a crime in the first place if I remember someone saying. Things are about to get real embarrassing for libs. I do hope like Jeanine says "People need to be taken out in handcuffs" I am ready for it.

Since when do we get prosecuted for our thoughts? Oh, I almost forgot, it's when we express political differences with a homosexual, a Muslim or a person of color and are called homophobes, racists and bigots. Gee, dopey me.

Mr. Huckabee: your blog is one of the very few blogs that make sense. Thank you for your diligence. I wish you would return to Arkansas. Asa is making a mess of things. But that is no surprise as he still has the Bill and Hill stench. Thank you for your fair reporting and commentary. Debbie Joslin

Part II of the Mueller report should be an embarrassment to the author and to anyone who takes office gossip seriously. It should be relegated to the trash bin of partisan politics.

Russia may have lost the cold war, but they are winning the PRAVDA war. It seems that for the price of a a Baltic Cruise, Russia has sown years of discord within the US political system. Fantasies, lies and misinformation fed to voracious Trump haters within the DNC, biased Intelligence agencies and unhinged, corrupt media companies have caused mass division in our Democratic Republic. Putin has gotten a great return on his investment and the left doesn't even see their complicity.

President Trump was set up with the intent to frame him by people in our own government agencies and a grand jury needs to be impaneled to bring all of these people to justice, including those who lied to the FISA court and ommitted the fact that the DNC and Hillary Clinton paid for a dossier that had not and could not be verified. The
mainstream news media also took part in spreading lies against President Trump and they have let us know how much they hate us deplorables. Trump 2020.

My thoughts on the Mauler investigation comes from years of watching the Democrat Party in Congress and White House browbeat the Republicans in Congress and White House until they just went along with them to in the debate. In doing this America lost. The ones left out in the cold world was America and the American people. So both parties in a way are at fault.
But along comes Donald Trump a successful business man, who most people in Government knew personally, or knew how he operated. They also knew he loved America and what it stood for, because he has made this known very early on in his life. They knew he could not be bought off or persuaded to go against American Justice, values, or Freedoms.
Even though the Democrat Party have from day one wanted to own and Control the American Government they needed help to get this done. That happened, when in 1948 the communists party tried and failed to gain control of American Government. The leaders of the failed Communist party said, “we failed this time but one day we will succeed through the Democrat Party”. You see I was there but not yet old enough to vote, but l had a brain and ears, and a dad involved in Politics so I knew what was happening.
The Socialist Democrats in Congress almost succeeded with Obama administration and would have with Hillary as President. But God intervened and the American people elected Donald Trump.
The election of Donald Trump is what they most dreaded, because the Now Socialist Democrats in Congress had to stop him, so they got together with some who could be persuaded to stop him. But when that failed, they then had to Cover their tracks and tricks. So they and a few liberal Republicans screamed loud enough they got the Mauler investigation. This went on for 2years and cost the American $30m.
Now we have the start of the Mauler investigation and for some reason I never really understood he was allowed to hire most all Lawyers whose ties were with the now Socialist Democrats, I did not see any fairness in that, but then we are talking about a Socialist party in charge. Then Rosenstein, who was already involved in the “get Trump” scam, TOLD Trump to fire Comey. I believe this was also in their plan to “get Trump” . This took on an even more sinister plot. But now no one is talking about Rosenstein telling Trump to fire Comey, media and Democrats are saying President Trump fired Comey with no mention of Rosenstein.
For some reason I have not yet figured out Mauler and Rosenstein decided to end the investigation but write a/the investigation report so that it would still indicate that President Trump was somehow involved. This would cover any false narrative that they or any one else was involved in the coverup. They never mentioned any Hillary, FBI, CIA or others that were involved in any wrong doing. To me this is not the way our American “the Rule of Law” was written. There was no true justice for anyone involved, so Again America lost another piece of what the founders meant when they wrote the Documents by which this Nation was founded. If the Rule of Law is lost so will be America and the American people will its/their freedoms.
Sorry this is long but I was compelled to write my feelings. I am not a lawyer or a writer as you can tell. I do believe that God controls all things and will in His own time/way bring justice for those who believe in Him.

I would like to know why when Mueller found out Trump was not guilty, why didn’t he stop! Why did he keep going and waste taxpayer money.?They wasted so much! They also need to investigate Mueller, and I hope they do.

    Dear Sir
I am so sick and tired as a lot of people are by now with all the negative stuff going around and just keep it going on and on.
The very idea of trying to get the President should that not be treason on their part? why aren't doing anything? I may not have some of the smarts they say they do but I have common sense know lots of Americans feel the same way.
I did not vote for the last President but did I pitch a fit and hope it went the way it is going NO I did not, like most people we just went on and did the best we could.
Know my opinion does not count for much and am not as smart as some but really people just shut up and support the President of the United States and get over it. Geeze
Just my opinion for what it is worth just so tired of seeing people acting like one year old's.
    Thank You

Have they not looked at the economy? How about jobs? I am so sick of it. So much evil it makes my heart sick. Thank you for always showing the truth and the way it really is.

Pres. Trump has tried to do everything he promised. But some Repub's and most Dem's/Congress blocks everything he tries to do for this country. And a lot of people still blame him anyway. Even though the fault lies with Congress. Dem's/ Congress don't want him to even defend himself. (NOW) since there's no collusion, they want to impeach him because of something he said, didn't say, thought, or didn't do. Yet big mouth Maxine Waters, and I can't say what I think of Madona,(and some others) want to "take him out tonight!" and Madona "has been thinking an awful lot about blowing up the White House", and nothing is done to them. Yet a poor, unknown person can say something like they did and immediately they are jailed. I thought Justice is suppose to treat all the same. Are they(dem's/congress) really blind?, or do they say and do anything they think people want for a vote?, or are they just plain wicked? With them in congress, Lord have mercy on the U.S. and Israel.

I watched Levin on Sunday night. At the end, he says that we - all us regular citizens - need to be angry. Many of us are. However, he did not offer, nor has anyone else, a suggestion as to what we can do to help the President now. Yes, I know voting for common sense in 2020 will help. But that doesn't help him right now, when so many seem to be against him. I pray for him and his administration. I pray that God will direct him and use him in a mighty way. And I think God has used him. But there seems no way to defend him of all these accusations. They just keep coming and coming and it is an endless barrage of hate and resentment. My congressman is a Republican. Both of our state's senators are Republicans and from what I can tell, they are supporters of what President Trump is trying to do. Is there a way for us "smelly Wal-Mart people" to help?

It is so discouraging to see some of your readers lying or may be listening to CNN too much. The Trump campaign had no clue Russia hacked the DNC until it happened and some are even saying it was an inside job and not Russia. Also you have readers who think President Trump is a lame duck president, when actually he is still accomplishing his campaign promises as we speak. Please Huckabee fans listen to real news not the fake CNN and MSNBC news so you can speak truth here instead of lies like the liberals keep telling.

I want to see Pelosi, Frank, Schumer, and Schiff on the hot seat for 30 hours and turn over all their emails and waive attorney privilege on this one. Then let's turn up the heat on Pelosi and Frank have them testify before a special counsel about what they knew and when with regards to the economic implosion under Bill Clinton De regulation of the mortgage industry. I see prison time in their future along with Bill and Hilary!

schiff, makes a ton of blanket statements with zero facts as usual. There is nothing "abundant" but the obvious facts that is failed to provide evidence of anything an schiff is guilty of perjury. He is throwing out "sstuff" and that is all it is. Yeah they have everything... but evidence of a crime or even the symblance of a crime.. the only crime is the dems for 2 years obstructing justice. And what did comey do in his soliloquy in 2015? He obstructed justice by usurping LL's authority. Think mirror.

After watching the ‘investigation’ for two years and now seeing the behavior of many politicos and the media both during investigation and after the Mueller Report’s release, I can’t help but recall the stage in my children’s lives called ‘The Terrible Twos.’ After not getting the results they expected, some are behaving exactly like two-year-olds and throwing tantrums. My children eventually grew out of that stage and have grown up to become responsible adults. I can’t help but wonder if we’re ever going to get past ‘The Terrible Twos’ and find some responsible adults to govern this country or if we’re stuck in perpetuity with two-year-olds who are incapable of doing anything other than throwing tantrums.

I don't think the founders envisioned people like Nadler, Schiff, Schumer, Pelosi, et al snookering the voters and being placed in positions of power. What makes people like this want the country they live in and serve in be harmed by their disregard for any semblance of truth, honor or integrity? What background and upbringing must these losers have percolated in? They seem to have missed most of the virtues that humans are supposed to be endowed with. You can't become this corrupt by accident, you have to work at it. jm

One of my favorites shows Jerry Nadler (I call him Jerry Rattler!) astride a donkey skeleton, (The Muller Report) beating It with a stick, demanding it get up!! What a trio of 3 stooges the Dem's have left to try to resurrect a Russia / Trump (NO) story! Jerry Nadler, Elijah Cummings and Adam Schiff !! I hope this re-elects Trump 1,000,000 to 1!

The Democrats won't be happy until they hold impeachment proceedings. And they'll pay "on the fence" Republicans whatever it takes to get them to vote for it. I'm literally surprised he's made it this far. Don't get me wrong--I love what he's done. I can only imagine the learning curve it's been for him, having to find out that he can't do what he promised--that the president doesn't run the country, the congress does. He's clearly a lame duck president with only the Senate on his side.

Great, spot on, sharp subjects, quotes, and delivery. "Good for the soul". My concerns continue to be several, particularly concerns for the 2020 election. Republicans must do more beginning now to win in 2020. Republicans now have the political, moral, and truthful high ground and must use it. Use the law to hold accountable congressional democrats who lied about President Trump to me and the American public, use the congressional ethics committee to remove from committee chairmanships liars to the American public. I, for one, am darn angry they lied to me. Use TV, radio, and headlines to shout the truth to the American public, tell about all the good President Trump has done for Americans and our country.
