Sitting through Tuesday’s all-day impeachment “inquiry” hearings was like listening to an endless loop of “Seasons In The Sun” while sitting on hot coals under an angry wasp nest, eating tofurkey with kale stuffing and being forced to watch Joy Behar’s home movies.  I thought Democrats were supposed to be philosophically opposed to torture.

Of course, most people didn’t watch; network ratings for the impeachment spectacle were appropriately dismal and continue to tank. (CBS even returned to regular programming.) But if most people found Adam Schiff’s hearings too boring or complicated to watch, they might still have caught a mainstream news report or two, or gone online, and if they did, they were shamelessly, dramatically, repeatedly lied to. Adam Schiff, a man with the conscience of a Burmese python and the personal appeal of a bedbug, is being hailed as a patriotic hero in some parts. Really?? Come on, would anybody out there buy a used car from this man?

DACA Update

By Mike Huckabee

I’ve been writing for several years now about how anti-Trumpers keep attacking everything Trump does, even things he clearly has the power to do, because they can’t mentally process the fact that he really is President. They’ve even managed to convince a fair number of judges to go along with their partisan delusions.  And despite being constantly characterized as a Hitler-like dictator, Trump has never once put one of these judges or critics in front of a firing squad.  Instead, he’s abided by the rulings, no matter how patently absurd they might be, and simply appealed them to a higher court.

And so now, we will soon see the United States Supreme Court being forced to rule on what should be the most obvious, slam-dunk, why-would-you-even-need-to-ask, dumb question in history: does President Trump have the power to rescind an executive order written by his predecessor (who himself admitted that he didn’t have the Constitutional power to issue it)?  It relates to DACA, the program for people who were brought to the US as illegal immigrants when they were children and have known nothing but life in America.

Let me be very clear: I oppose any sort of blanket amnesty for illegal immigrants.  But I was a supporter of some sort of program to allow this small group to access citizenship way back when I was Governor of Arkansas.  Our state already had to spend all the money to educate them, and since they were completely Americanized, it seemed pointless and cruel to send them to nations where they didn’t even speak the language just as they were about to start paying taxes and contributing something back. President Trump has a similar view and offered to work with Congress on some remedy just for this group, but the Democrats would rather toss the “Dreamers” (their term!) under the bus than work with Trump.

And so, the Supreme Court is now being forced to waste its time ruling on a non-question: yes, no matter whether you agree with the order or not, the President obviously has the right to issue executive orders rescinding previous executive orders. Yet, there is actually some doubt that this SCOTUS might rule correctly, due to Chief Justice Roberts’ tendency to pluck some justification out of the air for maintaining the status quo, which shows just how degraded our Constitutional system has become.

This is all stuff I’ve been writing about for years, but at the link is an excellent summation of it by a Professor of Legal History Emeritus at Northwestern University.  If Chief Justice Roberts doesn’t read my newsletter, then maybe he’ll read what this guy has to say.

I wanted to make sure you also read these comments:

After this weekend’s latest publicity stunt from Colin Kaepernick, even many of those who’ve tried to defend him seem to have at last reached their limit.  At the link, Matt Walsh of the Daily Wire finally calls him out in plain language, declaring that he’s not a football player, “he’s a con man.”

Walsh contends that the last thing Kaepernick actually wants is a job with the NFL because it’s far more lucrative to be a SJW/”victim” with a Nike contract than it is to be a benchwarming backup quarterback that nobody pays attention to.  What this weekend’s “tryout” was about wasn’t landing a contract to play football, but landing publicity.  On that count, it worked; but it’s the kind of publicity that may be backfiring because it just proved that the critics who called Kaepernick a spoiled, self-promoting prima donna who demands special rules just for him were absolutely right.

It’s not likely any team will be dumb enough to offer the job he obviously doesn’t really want, since as Walsh says, Tom Brady in his prime wouldn’t be worth all the headaches that Kaepernick comes with.  Although it would serve him right if they called his bluff and he were forced to take a job offer from the Bengals.

In California, where it’s easier to blame Pacific Gas & Electric (or “climate change”) for wildfires than to blame years of incompetent and short-sighted leftist government, PG&E is accepting monetary claims from people who claim they lost things in the 2018 Camp Fire.  One of those applicants is a man who claims the fire destroyed an emerald, and he’s seeking $280 million in damages.  If that seems a lot for one emerald, well, it’s not just any emerald.  He claims it was a 500-pount emerald.

PG&E is seeking evidence that the alleged giant emerald actually existed. I suspect they’ll have a harder time finding that than finding evidence of intelligent life in San Francisco.

Okay, I admit that this is really too gaseous to qualify as news. Normally, I wouldn’t touch it with a ten-foot pole. But it’s blowing up the Internet, so I guess I should at least let you know about it.  The best comment was Donald Trump Jr’s. He called this the “most intelligible thing to come out of Eric Swalwell in years.”

Gov. Huckabee: Thank you for your support in the release from the Ft. Leavenworth Stockade and a full Presidential Pardon for 1Lt. Clint Lorance, USA. Finally, a grievous and malicious UCMJ "rules of engagement" injustice to a decorated "military warrior" has finally been addressed and rightfully ended.

I got a good laugh on your definition of torture. Mine would be stuck in an elevator with "Feelings" (the song that you can't get out of your head) playing through the speakers; or "Island Girl" by Elton John; or virtually anything by Kenny G (he actually has am upcoming Christmas tour). As for shifty Schiff.....I would't accept a free car from that low life! Ewwwww......make the madness stop!

I was thinking--so, what would the democrats do if President Trump says, "okay, I'll testify--what date, what time, and where will this be?" They would first be discombobulated and it would take a week before they would be able to pick their jaws up off the flow and begin to discuss with each other--"Crap!!! What are we going to do now?" Of course, first of all, they'd make up a new rule that he would not be allowed to answer any questions!!!! It might take a while for their addled minds to come up with anything to prevent him from actually testifying, but they'd sure work on it!!!

Thanks for your commentary on the DACA children. I believe that a huge majority of us believe they deserve to experience genuine citizenship via a fair vetting process. It is pathetic that the never Trumpers are so shortsighted the issue has been forced to SCOTUS. I can only hope that Roberts holds to the Constitutional issues in this case. We do not need another precedent setting case that uses the Court as cultural arbiter rather than preserving the Constitution. If the Court upholds Trump's right to overturn the wrongful Obama exec order, then I do believe the President will work with the Dems for a DACA solution.

    Dear Governor Mike,

My Mississippi Momma always told me to look for the bright side of things, and if there is a bright side of Adam (the lying sack of) Schiff and his silly circus it is this. While they are clowning for the cameras, the dems are not passing legislation. I'm thankful for that.
