After returning from the latest of my many trips to Israel and a visit with Benjamin Netanyahu, I appeared with Laura Ingraham on her Thursday night FOX News show, THE INGRAHAM ANGLE, to talk about the growing problem of anti-Semitism within the Democratic Party.

The latest evidence of that is the eagerness of Democrat presidential candidates to refuse to attend the policy conference of AIPAC, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, which will take place this coming week. Gosh, it seemed like a race to see who could decline their invitation first. So, who was it that communicated to the Democrat candidates, just one day earlier, that they needed to boycott this event?

With gratitude,

Mike Huckabee

Pray for the Midwest

By Mike Huckabee

Please remember to keep the people of the upper Midwest areas devastated by floods in your prayers.  With the waters starting to recede in some places, residents are returning to what’s left of their homes, with damage estimated at up to $1.3 billion in Nebraska alone.

All those flood waters from melting snow also have forecasters warning Southern cities along rivers to brace for possible record floods this Spring. Those in the pathway should avail themselves of both prayer and preparation.  There’s more info here:

A reminder: one of my favorite charities, Samaritan’s Purse, is already on the scene in Nebraska to help flood victims.  You can read about that effort here, and if you can spare some cash to help your fellow Americans, it’s as easy as clicking the donate button.

First Amendment under threat

By Mike Huckabee

A new survey commissioned by the Samuel Hubbard Shoe Company found that while 6 in 10 Americans fear the First Amendment is under threat, the rest of their rights could also be threatened and many wouldn’t even know it.  About half thought that “liberty” and “the pursuit of happiness” were among the five rights listed in the First Amendment. (I guess we're lucky nobody thought it included the right not to pay a lot for a muffler.) Only 26% knew how many Amendments were in the Bill of Rights (spoiler alert: it’s 10), while just one in five was even familiar with the term “Bill of Rights.”

There’s more at the link.  Along with the growing number of young people who think socialism is just peachy, this ignorance of our Constitutional rights shows the crying need for better civics and history education in American schools.  Music education would help, too.  Then maybe young people would learn the words of the great philosopher Joni Mitchell: “Don’t it always seem to go that you don’t know what you’ve got ‘till it’s gone.”

Follow-up to "Seattle Is Dying": Seattle readers agree that it is

By Mike Huckabee

My commentary on “Seattle Is Dying,” a mesmerizing (and maddening) hour-long news special produced by KOMO-TV, brought in many thoughtful letters. Here are a few excerpts from some that came in from people who have lived in Seattle and the Pacific Northwest…

From Kenneth:

My cousin sent me this video, and for someone who grew up in a quiet suburb of Seattle I was totally horrified by what I saw. My sister, who still lives in the Seattle area, is a Democrat, and we very seldom speak because if the subject turns to politics and I even mention the word ‘Trump,’ she goes into a rage of how bad he is and how he is ruining the country.

Thanks for speaking up Ted

By Mike Huckabee

Today’s major media outlets such as the New York Times or the Washington Post are no longer the professional sources of journalism that they were 50 years ago.  Their open opposition to Donald Trump, the editorializing on the front pages and reporters’ self-descriptions of being part of “the resistance” show that Trump is not mistaken when he views them as being biased against him and not being real reporters of objective facts.

Oh, I’m sorry, did you think that I was saying all that?  Nope, that was venerable ABC news man Ted Koppel.

More on the Electoral College Part II

By Mike Huckabee

This is a useful recap of major Democrats embracing such radical notions as stacking the Supreme Court and eliminating the Electoral College.

It also sparked this thought about eliminating the Electoral College: The EC is designed to insure that Presidents must have broad-based support and not be elected only by a handful of densely-populated cities, where the residents have no understanding of the lives of people in other states.  (Imagine having a President picked by the same astute voters who elected the people who run New York City, Chicago, L.A., Seattle, San Francisco and Detroit.)

Since states are the laboratories for ideas the federal government might consider, what is happening in states such as Colorado and California where people in rural counties feel that the urban liberals who dominate their state governments are riding roughshod over their rights, destroying their livelihoods and showing no respect for their beliefs and traditions?  Those states are seeing secessionist movements that call for splitting the state apart.

In short, eliminating the Electoral College and putting all states under the thumb of far-left urban leaders chosen by New York and California is a recipe for another civil war.  That makes it the dumbest leftist idea since socialism.

Oh, and if anyone on the left wants to dispute that, I would remind them of what happened shortly after they realized that Trump would be their President for at least the next four years and they couldn't live under someone they didn't support: a movement sprung up among California leftists to secede from the union.

AOC wrong again

By Mike Huckabee

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was apparently not correct when she claimed her high school thought she needed remedial education just because she was bilingual. I imagine most of us assumed immediately that that’s not why they thought she needed remedial education.

“Border Emergency? What Border Emergency?”

By Mike Huckabee

“Border Emergency? What Border Emergency?” Homeland Security reports that the number of people attempting to illegally cross the Mexican border into the US is on track to top 100,000 in March.

And just to make it clear that having an open border with Mexico is as smart as leaving your front door open in Chicago, a new report that examined cities by the number of homicides per 100,000 residents ranks Tijuana as the world’s most violent city. That’s largely because of the drug gangs that are, of course, trying to bring their drugs across the border. In fact, four Mexican cities are in the top five most violent, with 15 in the top 50, more than any other nation on Earth.

Oh, and in case you’re wondering, the sole non-Mexican city in the top five most violent is #3: Caracas, Venezuela. Debate among yourselves as to which is the worst liberal idea: open borders or socialism?
