A BIG Republican win in South Texas

While there were higher profile races on the ballot in Tuesday's primaries, the biggest news came in a special election to fill Texas’ 34th District House seat that was thrown open by the resignation of Democratic Rep. Filemon Vela. In the largely Hispanic district that runs from east of San Antonio to Brownsville, Republican Mayra Flores flipped the seat to red by beating Democrat Dan Sanchez 51-43%.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/republican-mayra-flores-flips-texas-house-district-special-election

Sanchez is a Catholic and a very rare staunch pro-life Democrat, which made him less than popular with the national Party, but should have helped him in that district. Despite that, the Republican won big in a district that Joe Biden carried by 13 points in 2020. Ms Flores thanked God, her family and the voters, and said, “I look forward to standing strong for our conservative values of faith, family, and freedom and to earning the opportunity to serve our community further in the months to come.”

Her parents brought her to the US when she was six, which makes her not only a woman who flipped a seat against long odds, but also the first Mexican-born Congress member in history. All of that would no doubt make her a media darling if she were a Democrat. Since she’s a Republican, we’ll have to wait and see whether the media decides to vilify her or just pretend she doesn’t exist.

But she does. And she will occupy a seat in a Hispanic majority district that used to be blue.

More Election News

In other closely-watched races, Trump- and DeSantis-backed former Nevada Attorney General Adam Laxalt easily won the GOP nomination to challenge Democrat Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, who is considered one of the most vulnerable incumbents.

Also in Nevada, Trump-backed Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo defeated 14 other Republicans to win the nomination for Governor. He’ll be challenging Democrat incumbent Gov. Steve Sisolak. Republicans are hoping that a red wave will help flip Nevada, which is so dependent on tourism that the people really suffered under Democrat COVID shutdowns and restrictions.

In South Carolina, Rep. Nancy Mace fended off a challenge from Trump-backed Kate Arrington. But five-term incumbent Rep. Tim Rice (one of only 10 Republicans who voted to impeach Trump) was trounced by Trump-backed challenger Russell Fry.

And the endorsements of Bernie Sanders and far-left “Squad” members failed to help Amy Vilela defeat incumbent Nevada Democrat Rep. Dina Titus. They claimed Vilela was running to fight for “bold, transformational change,” which I hope sent a chill up voters’ spines.

Material to make your mind reel

I don’t report on every gaffe or baffling speech given by President Biden because that would take up most of my time. But when he gives one like his speech on Tuesday to the AFL-CIO that was so filled with mind-bogglingly obvious falsehoods and angry old man rants, I think it’s my duty to at least point it out to you. And to those in Congress (or who soon will be) who will have the responsibility of deciding whether the President is mentally fit for the job.

https://www.westernjournal.com/watch-biden-shakes-screams-afl-cio-speech/

And here’s more material to make your mind reel: in a series of letters to oil company CEO’s, Biden blamed them (and Putin, of course) for skyrocketing gas prices that have been rising since the minute he took office and launched his war on domestic oil and gas production. He threatened the oil companies with the use of “emergency powers” if they didn’t increase production at refineries to bring down gas prices.

The oil company CEOs have yet to issue a response. I’m popping popcorn and looking forward to that.

Musk votes for Republican Mayra Flores, says a big red wave is coming

Elon Musk revealed that he voted for Mayra Flores, the first time in his life that he’d voted Republican, and he’s leaning toward supporting Ron DeSantis for President in 2024. He also predicted a “massive red wave” in November. Although I don’t know whether he really means all that, or he just said it to encourage more leftist rage-aholics to quit Twitter and save him the trouble of rooting them out and firing them.

https://www.foxbusiness.com/politics/elon-musk-mayra-flores-texas-desantis-president

Speaking of Musk, tomorrow, he’ll speak in person for the first time to Twitter employees in a company-wide meeting and answer their questions. I hope their safe spaces are well-stocked with puppies and Play-Doh. They may need it after the triggering they’re likely to experience.

https://www.westernjournal.com/twitter-employees-come-face-face-elon-musk-first-time/

As long as Musk is answering their questions, I’d like to see him ask Twitter employees a few questions of his own, like how about explaining this?

Gov. Huckabee: Let's all repeat the facts over and over, shut down of the oil and gas industry in America by Joe Biden is the cause of America's inflation, supply chain cost and problems, and the real pain and suffering of the American people Biden said he would shut down the oil industry in America before being elected. Biden shut down the oil industry in America by Executive Orders after he was elected as he said he would. The pain and suffering of the American people is unreasonable, it is intentionally made by Biden and his administration and fixable.

Americans do not need to double up in a fetal position as economists and Federal Reserve are making us do. Delete Biden's Executive Orders that shut down the oil and gas industry in America, increase supply, get American gas and oil flowing, bring down the price to the consumer. We have the oil and gas!

Three signs of dementia: defensive, agitation, confusion.

Pres. Biden and his climate czar Kerry keep harping that we don't need oil drilling and petroleum use. Do they not realize that machines need oil and grease for lubrication? That our society is highly reliant on plastics for everything from car bumpers and dashboards to plastic forks and spoons? Plastics are all around us, wherever we go -- our computers, our keyboards, dishes and food preparation utensils, vacuum cleaners, brooms, plastic bags, zip ties, etc. -- you can't go two steps without encountering something made of plastic. Where does plastic come from? We don't mine it from the ground, like iron ore, it comes from petroleum. Does this administration want to take us back to the Bronze Age?
