“That’s the classic prosecutor’s cheap shot.”

So says Gregg Jarrett (who wrote the appropriately titled THE RUSSIA HOAX) of special counsel Robert Mueller’s decision to include the “we-didn’t-exonerate-Trump-on-obstruction” language in his report, which was finally released to the attorney general on Sunday. When a prosecutor loses a case, Jarrett explains, he sometimes just can’t resist adding that, well, even though they didn’t find sufficient evidence of any crime, that doesn’t mean the subject is innocent. So when Mueller found no basis to recommend any further indictments –- on “collusion” (conspiracy), obstruction, anything having to do with the Russia case –- he added that language on obstruction to muddy the waters.

And that’s the line that all Democrats and almost all media will run with --- not the truly stunning line about the Trump campaign not colluding with Russians “despite multiple offers from Russia-affiliated individuals.” Let that sink in a minute. Who were those individuals? Which ones were also affiliated with the Hillary campaign, perhaps trying to lay a trap, perhaps involved in the fraudulent Trump “dossier.” This –- not whether Trump said something disparaging about Robert Mueller in a tweet –- is the important stuff that cries out for more investigation.

Report coming to Congress

In a transparent attempt to keep the “Russian collusion” bandwagon limping along for a while longer, Democratic leaders are demanding that Attorney General Barr immediately release the entire 300-plus-page Mueller report -- knowing that he can’t because it has to be vetted first to redact any classified information, items under executive privilege or private information about people who were not charged with any crimes.  This is all standard procedure, but the anti-Trumpers are trying to convince us that Barr would flush away his career and reputation by writing a false and misleading summary of a report that he knows is going to be released within a matter of weeks. 

In fact, he now says he expects the redacted report to be released by mid-April.  That will give the Russian collusion conspiracy crowd two weeks to wean themselves off their habit gradually.  Maybe they could use that time to prepare themselves for the end by going on the Internet and immersing themselves in 9/11 trutherism or stories about Area 51 instead.

Meanwhile, those who are clamoring for the release of the Mueller report RIGHT NOW might not be too happy to hear that some other documents could finally be seeing daylight as well.



#2:  The Mueller Report

Friday, special counsel Robert Mueller submitted his final report to Attorney General William Barr.  After more than 600 days, $20 million in taxpayer money and countless hours of conspiracy mongering on cable “news” channels, the Democrats’ dreams of impeachment, imprisonment, even execution for President Trump seem to be ending not with a bang but with a whimper.  Plus a fair amount of guffawing from the right and bitter, angry tears from the left.

#3:  Trump is ready to see some accountability, and so are we

Though Democrats refuse to give it up, President Trump is now looking at the Mueller investigation in his rear-view mirror. At a huge rally Thursday night in Grand Rapids, Michigan, he had the enormous pleasure of speaking about it in the past tense. And his audience had the same enormous pleasure of hearing him use the one word we all want to hear:


To those of us who have assumed no one associated with the fictional Russian “dossier” and the sham “Trump/Russia” narrative (hoax) would ever face the music, Trump made it clear that he was tuning up the orchestra. “All the current and former officials who paid for, promoted and perpetuated the single greatest hoax in the history of politics in our country. They have to be, I’m sorry, they have to be accountable.”

At that, the crowd began chanting “Lock then up! Lock them up!” 

He gave Democrats a stark choice: to “decide whether they will continue defrauding the public with ridiculous bull**** partisan investigations, or apologize to the American people.”



Schiff: bereft of humor and intelligence

This week, all the Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee called on chairman Adam Schiff to step down, saying they had no faith in his leadership and he had discredited the committee by continuing to promote a “demonstrably false narrative” that President Trump colluded with Russia in the 2016 election.  That includes claiming on numerous media outlets that he has evidence to back those accusations, yet never providing any. 

After the revolt, Schiff went on a rant and doubled-down, listing all the ways in which Trump or his associates allegedly engaged in illegal or suspicious behavior.  But once again, he provided no evidence, and the things he mentioned that are now in the public sphere he got wrong in easily-refuted ways, as you can read at this link.

One that I’m particularly tired of is the worn-out hooey that Trump, as Schiff put it, “called on Russia to hack his opponent’s emails if they were listening.”  As I noted at the time and have reminded people ever since, Trump was making a joke, and a pretty funny one at that.  

Trump didn’t call on Russia to hack his opponent, he suggested sarcastically that if the FBI, as it claimed, couldn’t “find” or recover over 30,000 of Hillary Clinton’s emails after she’d erased her unsecured email server, scrubbed it with Bleach Bit software and had it pounded with a hammer, they should ask Russia for them. Does Schiff seriously believe Trump was calling on the Russians to hack her off-line, scrubbed, smashed server? How?!

Since Rep. Schiff is as bereft of humor as he is intelligence (he should never be allowed on either an intelligence committee or a humor committee), I’ll try to explain the joke to him: it was funny because everyone assumed at the time that Russia had long ago obtained all of Hillary’s emails due to her cavalier (and illegal) lack of concern for keeping her classified communications secure. 

Trump could just as easily have made the same joke about China or North Korea.  It would've been just as funny and made the same point. But then, we would’ve had to listen to Adam Schiff yammering on for two years about Chinese collusion or North Korean collusion.  Maybe I’d better stop before I give him any more stupid ideas.

Revealing fossils found

Paleontologists digging in North Dakota have found what’s being hailed as the most important discovery of the new century: a “time capsule of the end of the world.” 

It’s the perfectly-preserved fossilized remains of a group of fish, insects, mammals and one dinosaur, all jumbled together, that apparently all died at the same moment 66 million years ago, when a tsunami-like wave and a shower of rocks, sand and molten glass buried them alive.  It's believed to have happened just minutes after a huge asteroid smashed into the Earth near Mexico, ending the era of the dinosaurs.  They even found charred trees and dinosaur footprints from just before the blast. 

Aside from the scientific value, there are two other aspects of this story that should be of interest to us today:

1.  It shows the importance of continuing NASA’s research on diverting asteroids away from Earth.

2.   We can see that the fossilized faces of the creatures who suddenly realized their world was ending have identical expressions to those of Rachel Maddow and Chris Matthews when the Mueller report findings were announced.



“This Is Not How You Oppose Racism” Dept:

First, the “woke” progressive left demanded “safe spaces” for black college students where they could be segregated from white students for their own comfort.  Now comes word that organizers of a meeting at a church in Savannah to unite black voters around one mayoral candidate barred white reporters from the event and posted “Black press only” signs.  Ironically, one of the candidates at the meeting said that his vision was “an inclusive Savannah, a progressive Savannah.”

Looks as if they’re going to have to choose: one or the other.
