Joe Biden went to Iowa Tuesday to attempt to right his floundering campaign by giving the voters what his handlers think Democrats crave (judging by Stephen Colbert’s ratings): a lot of hyperbolic attacks on President Trump. CNN got so excited at the thought, they forgot about their sensitivity guidelines on violent rhetoric and billed it as Biden preparing to “eviscerate” the President.
Biden’s speech was filled with the red meat (or soy-based vegan meat substitute) that his crowd demands, with lots of attacks on Trump as an “existential threat” to the world (funny, I thought ISIS was an existential threat to the world, but I guess that doesn’t apply anymore since Trump took over from Obama/Biden and crushed ISIS.) Joe also unveiled his new campaign slogan: “Make America America Again.”
(In typical Biden fashion, that’s plagiarized from someone else – not only Donald Trump, but in this case, taken verbatim from much-indicted sleazy lawyer, Michael Avenatti):
Aside from being amused that this could lead to Democrats walking around in caps that read “MAAA!” as if they’re whining for mommy government to help them (oddly appropriate), I couldn’t help wondering what he means by making America “America” again? What is his concept of an America he wants back? It can’t be the type of America where our economy is booming, jobs are back, we actually defeat our enemies, put our own people’s interests first and lead the world instead of bowing to dictators, since we have that now and Joe seems to disapprove highly of it.
And I won’t be disingenuous enough to do what liberals do to Republicans and pretend to think that by wanting to restore some great things of the past, they mean they hope to bring back slavery, Jim Crow and the KKK, even though those were all renowned Democratic institutions.
So what is this version of “America” that he wants America to be again? I assume he means bringing back the period from 2008 to 2016 when he and Obama were in power.
Does that mean “America” is a country with no borders and where nobody speaks English? Is America a place where people have to work three part-time jobs to put food on the table? A nation that sends planeloads of cash to other nations whose leaders publicly pray for its death as regularly as the rest of us take coffee breaks? Is America a nation that sends its soldiers into battle against conscienceless murderers in numbers too low to win and with their hands cuffed by impossible rules of engagement? Is it a nation that cripples energy production, making itself dependent on hostile nations in the Middle East? Is America a place where Christians are prosecuted for expressing their beliefs, nuns are hauled into federal court for refusing to pay for abortion and contraceptive drugs, women are punished for complaining about creepy guys hanging out in their bathrooms and showers, free speech is allowed for only one viewpoint, the levers of government are used for harassment and spying on political enemies, and people take a knee when “The Star-Spangled Banner” is played instead of standing up?
If that’s Joe’s version of America, I don’t want it back. It would be more accurate if his slogan were “Make America Bizarro America Again.” That would also have the added benefit of letting him plagiarize Donald Trump, Michael Avenatti and DC Comics all at once. A Joe Biden hat trick!
