Speaking of using pointed humor to show people when they’re being ridiculous, here are a couple of hilarious responses to the recent PC pearl-clutching over the classic 1940s holiday tune, “Baby, It’s Cold Outside.”  Warning: there is some profanity in the J.P. Sears clip.  But he’s parodying a ranting “social justice warrior,” so if he spoke like a civilized adult, it wouldn’t be accurate.

A federal judge has ruled it unconstitutional for Massachusetts to ban the secret recording of police and other government officials.  The case was brought by James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas, which argued that the ban was selectively enforced in order to prosecute witnesses who documented police misconduct in public and to criminalize undercover reporter exposes of corrupt officials, like those done by Project Veritas -- and many other journalistic outlets.

As law professor Glenn Reynolds of Instapundit notes, the much-maligned-by-liberal-media Project Veritas is now doing the job of protecting First Amendment rights that used to be done by the ACLU before they started putting PC virtue-signaling ahead of free speech.

For those wishing to avoid the mainstream media and get information from trusted sources instead, here’s an insightful piece in NATIONAL REVIEW by Conrad Black, author of DONALD J. TRUMP, A PRESIDENT LIKE NO OTHER.  It’s quite wide-ranging, but the headline says it all:  ‘Mueller’s Got Nothing.”

Here’s a quick summary (the Readers Digest version), paraphrasing the many excellent points made by Black:

After 29 months, Mueller has found no evidence that Trump has committed criminal acts.

There’s no hint of Russian “collusion” for illegal purposes with the Trump campaign.

Peter Strzok at the FBI acknowledged this from the beginning.

Hillary’s claims to the contrary are not true.

She and Trump’s other enemies will never accept this.

Former FBI Director James Comey is suffering from a mysterious case of amnesia.

Mainstream media assault reasonable accuracy standards, show animosity towards the people.

In that sense, they “lend a color of right” to Trump calling them “enemies of the people.”

Michael Cohen was made to call Trump’s payment a campaign contribution when it’s not.

In any serious foreign jurisdiction, prosecutors would be disbarred for what ours are doing.

Through such tactics, our criminal justice system gets “near-Korean levels of conviction.”

This whole thing has been nonsense from the get-go.

Within the anti-Trump cast of characters, lying to Congress has abounded.

Obama allowed his administration to become corrupted in its support of Clinton’s candidacy.

Trump has been assaulted by “the most venomous of the swamp creatures.”

He dared to fight back with a vengeance, so both sides dug in; the system is dysfunctional.

Trump is so “rough-edged” in his responses that it hurts what would be a tidal wave of support.

No one wins in this nasty political battle, though Trump is likely to prevail legally.

This is a huge distraction from critical issues, and very damaging before “a nonplussed world.”

Maybe when this is over (someday), the new AG will institute badly needed reforms.

Those who participated in this sordidness will want to offer appeasement to the Almighty.

There you go!  But for the full essay, which I highly recommend, here’s the link:

Time magazine has released a list of nominees for its “Person of the Year,” the individual, group or thing that had the most impact on the news in 2018, for good or ill.  Interestingly, it includes illegal immigrant families temporarily separated at the border, and Time illustrates the media frenzy they sparked with the very same photo the media used everywhere: one of a crying little Honduran girl who, as it turned out, was actually never separated from her mother at all.

This would seem to suggest that Time’s choice for what had the most impact on the news in 2018 should be something that’s not even on their list of nominees:  “Fake news.”

Special counsel Robert Mueller has chased “Russian collusion” off the tracks and is now wandering around in the high weeds, hunting for false statements or campaign finance technicalities to prosecute.  But as any country boy could have warned him, when you go poking around in the weeds, something might bite you.  In this case, a furious subject of his heavy-handed interrogation techniques is putting the bite on him with a $350 million lawsuit.

It’s not so much that Jerry Seinfeld and other comedians won’t play college campuses anymore.  It’s that they can’t because saying anything funny would violate their contracts.

At least, that’s what a group of comics in the UK discovered when they were asked to perform for a UNICEF fundraiser at the University of London.  They received a contract that by itself could stand as a masterful satire of political correctness, only it wasn’t meant to be funny.

Comic Konstantin Kisin, who is Jewish, Russian and a free speech advocate, said the title alone “nearly made me puke.”  It was called the “Behavioural Agreement Form.”  Here’s an except (prepare to laugh yourself sick, literally):

"This comedy night…aims to provide a safe space for everyone to share and listen to Comedy…This contract has been written to ensure an environment where joy, love, and acceptance are reciprocated by all…By signing this contract, you are agreeing to our no tolerance policy with regards to racism, sexism, classism, ageism, ableism, homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, xenophobia, Islamophobia or anti-religion or anti-atheism."

"All topics must be presented in a way that is respectful and kind. It does not mean that these topics can not be discussed. But, it must be done in a respectful and non-abusive way.”

In short: “Do ‘comedy,’ but don’t make fun of anything.”  Under those criteria, it’s almost impossible to think of any joke that might be acceptable.  Maybe this: “Why did the chicken cross two roads? To show its support for intersectionality.”

Man, if those students had ever seen Don Rickles, their heads would’ve exploded.  How did British youth devolve from the generations who stood up to the Kaiser, Mussolini, Tojo and (literally) Hitler to today’s hothouse petunias who (literally) can’t even take a joke?

It’s a shame because they don’t realize the important function that humor performs, even – sometimes, especially – when comics are pointing out people’s flaws, foibles and hypocrisies.  Comics perform a valuable public service by letting people know when they’re being ridiculous or have gotten too big for their britches and need to stop acting so self-important.  There’s a phrase for that: “Taking the mickey out of them.”  Ironically, it’s a British phrase.

These days, the very PC Puritans who are trying to ban comedy are the ones most in need of it.  Maybe if they could hear a joke at their expense without curling up in the fetal position, they might realize how hypocritical they’re being by, for instance, insisting on changing the language to keep from offending animals that can’t understand English, or wailing about the cruelty of “microaggressions” or upsetting words while strongly defending the right to brutally dismember the most innocent victims on Earth, babies in the womb.

There’s a reason why kings used to tolerate jesters making jokes at their expense: it was the only way to hear the truth of what the people were saying about them behind their backs.  It was said that you knew you had a crazed tyrant running things when he killed the jester.  So what does that say about the people running today’s college campuses?

The comedians turned down that college gig, but it was a win-win for both sides.  The students won’t hear any jokes that threaten their secure cocoons, and the comics now have an easy source of material. They can just read that laughably absurd contract to audiences, and follow it up with some jokes about what a bunch of humorless, self-righteous idiots are running college campuses.

Subject is climate chsnge. According to evolutionist dinosaurs roamed the earth for 100's of millions of years before the first I've age. Reptiles are cold blooded animals, so the earth must have been hotter. The fact it is warming up means it is getting back to normal, if you believe evolutionist.

Thanks for your reports - they bring the sanity we need in these days of lies, cover-ups, and political turmoil. It is encouraging to see how great things are quietly being accomplished by those who care for our country in the right way.
