A salute to Ellen DeGeneres, who was attacked by the usual leftist Twitter mob for daring to be seen sitting next to former President George W. Bush at an NFL game. In a delightful surprise, she didn’t react with the usual groveling apologies, but instead said this:
“I have friends who don’t think the same things that I do. When I say be kind to one another, I don’t mean only the people who think the same way you do, I mean be kind to everyone."

Wow, how refreshing and how desperately needed! Unfortunately, both the Twittersphere and Hollywood are filled with people whose credo is “Civility? What’s that?!” So her pleas for kindness and tolerance were savaged by many, including some of her fellow Hollywood liberal celebrities, who feigned general agreement with respecting people’s differences (in theory), but… (any rational-sounding statements they make are always followed by “but…”) Bush is an exception because he’s been called a “war criminal.” (By whom? By them, I believe.)
But Bush isn’t really a special exception because we all know there isn’t a conservative alive for whom the left couldn’t haul up a “but” to justify being rude and nasty. Show them any conservative, no matter how kind and inoffensive, and they’ll show you a fascist. I assume that’s even what they call me, “but…” Life is too short to read their brain drool on Twitter, so who cares?
One other interesting point about this story, as noted by someone on the Fox News comments board: isn’t it telling that conservatives, who are painted as being rigid and intolerant, are all praising Ellen, a liberal LGBTQ icon, for defending civility…and liberals, who pride themselves on their tolerance and diversity, are ripping her to shreds for daring to be decent to someone she disagrees with politically?
A lot of people are predicting that the increasingly violent and unhinged left in America won’t be satisfied until they spark a second civil war. But that’s the wrong term. If they spark anything, it will be an uncivil war.

With Speaker Nancy Pelosi allowing Democrats to shred the Constitution and House precedents in their zeal to impeach President Trump, Republican Rep. Ralph Abraham of Louisiana has introduced the perfect counter-measure, and unlike most House documents, it’s blessedly short. Here’s his proposed resolution in its entirety:
“Resolved, That pursuant to Article 1, Section 5, Clause 2 of the United States Constitution, Representative Nancy Pelosi be, and she hereby is, expelled from the House of Representatives and the Office of the Speaker is declared to be vacant.”
You have to admire the multiple layers of symmetry. Pelosi allows an unconstitutional push to oust Trump without following proper procedure, Abraham cites the Constitution while following proper procedure by introducing a resolution to oust Pelosi. The Democrats have yet to prove or even cite any actual “high crimes and misdemeanors” committed by Trump as grounds. Abraham released a statement citing his specific grounds:
“Nancy Pelosi’s vicious crusade against our lawfully-elected President is nothing more than a politically-motivated witch hunt and it must be stopped. She has disgraced the people’s House and weaponized the Speaker’s gavel for her party’s political gain. House Democrats spent nearly three years obsessed with election meddling only to dwarf any such efforts with their own deceitful plan to nullify the 2016 election and prevent President Trump from winning in 2020.”
And to complete the symmetry, while critics say Abraham’s resolution has no chance of passing, he can reply that impeachment has no chance of passing the Senate, but that hasn’t stopped Pelosi from wasting the people’s time and money pursuing it.
Let’s just hope for one more example of symmetry in 2020: when the phony impeachment mania dies with Trump’s reelection and the resolution to remove Pelosi from the Speaker’s position becomes unnecessary because she’ll be moving back to the minority.

Fox News’ Tucker Carlson has unearthed a “smoking gun!” It’s a transcript of a phone call in which the President openly sought help from a foreign leader to help influence an upcoming election in the US in his favor.
Oh, wait: that was Bill Clinton in 2000, leaning on then-British Prime Minister Tony Blair to help Al Gore.
Never mind!
