I wrote yesterday about the Democrats’ favorite smear tactic: accusing anyone who criticizes them or disagrees with their failed policies of being a “racist” (here’s the latest example of responding to detailed, substantive criticism by yelling “racism.”)
But all of a sudden, that worn-out leftist tactic is turning around and biting them. And it appears that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi doesn’t like it when her favorite attack dog sinks its fangs into her fetlock.
Just days after she accused people who think there should be a citizenship question on the Census form of “wanting to make America white again” (FYI: a new Harvard/Harris poll found that that group of white supremacists covers 67% of registered voters, including 59% of blacks and 55% of Hispanics), she was accused of favoring the white bread over the brown bread herself.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who is fast becoming the raspberry seed in Pelosi’s wisdom tooth, tweeted that the Speaker’s attempts to corral her four ultra-left female freshmen members was motivated by her disrespect for “newly elected women of color.” And it gets worse from there:
Federal judges thwart President Trump again and again
By Mike Huckabee
If you’re like me, you probably miss the days when America was governed by elected representatives instead of appointed lawyers in black robes. I’m sure President Trump does, since on Tuesday, he was thwarted again – twice in one day – by federal judges.
In yet another judicial attempt to interfere with the President exercising the executive power to create the Census form, an Obama-appointed federal judge in New York barred the Justice Department from changing the lawyers they want to use to re-argue their case for adding the citizenship question to the Census form.
Liberal media-mogul gives President Trump an A+ for his handling of the economy
By Mike Huckabee
I always enjoy it when something upends a prevailing liberal media narrative. For instance, if I said that I gave President Trump an “A+” for his handling of the economy which is “doing great,” and that his tax cut had stimulated business and helped bring job opportunities even to groups that had problems before, such as taking African-American unemployment to its lowest level ever…and that he deserves credit for taking steps to do what he promised to do…and if I said the Democrats will have a hard time beating him because they’ve moved too far to the left and their programs don’t resonate with most Americans…then I’d probably be called a racist Trump supporter.
So I’m happy to report that everything above was actually said by African-American media mogul Robert Johnson, the founder of Black Entertainment Television (BET.)
Listen closely and you can hear liberals’ heads exploding all the way from DC and both coasts.
And as long as we’re shattering cherished liberal narratives, here are seven largely-unreported facts about immigration enforcement under Obama.
You know all those things they blame on Trump, like deporting people, separating families, putting children in cages, people dying trying to cross the border, etc.? Well, all that happened under Obama first and oftentimes, worse.
And for the record, if they start blasting Trump for using tear gas on illegal immigrants at the border, that wouldn’t even be a first, either. It’s been used by Presidents going back to Jimmy Carter, and it happened 79 times during fiscal years 2012-2016 under - you guessed it - Barack Obama.
Rest in Peace

We’re sad to report that Emmy Award-winning actor Rip Torn has died at 88. His career spanned seven decades of stage, screen and TV roles, from heavy drama to comedies. Younger readers probably know him best as the boss of the “Men In Black” or the blunt producer on “The Larry Sanders Show.” But there’s a lot more info about his life and career here:
Here are two bits of trivia you might not know: his success inspired his cousin, Sissy Spacek, to go into acting. And most people assume that “Rip Torn” was a macho stage name like “Rock Hudson,” designed to help him get attention in Hollywood. Actually, his real name was Elmore Rual Torn, and “Rip” was a common family nickname. In fact, the name sparked ridicule and held him back at first, and his agents pressured him to change it, but he refused.
As long as I’m handling this sad duty, I’d also like to pay respects to “Laugh-In” star Arte Johnson, who died last week at 90 while we were away on July 4th break.
Johnson played a number of iconic characters on that classic '60s show, the most famous being the German soldier who found everything “Veeeeeery interesting” and the dirty old man, Tyrone F. Horneigh, who was always hitting on Ruth Buzzi’s spinster character Gladys Ormphby on a park bench until she hit on him with her purse and pounded him into the ground. Reportedly, the writers would give them half a dozen or so sketches, and when those were filmed, they’d ad-lib half a dozen more, which were usually the funniest ones on the show.
Johnson never became a big solo star, but he relished being a “second banana” and had a long career in sitcoms, movies and on stage, usually disguised as one of his countless comic characters, and as a busy cartoon voice artist. You might be surprised at how many times you saw and heard him without realizing it. Check out the link to read more about this very funny, talented and under-appreciated artist.
##Appellation##, I wanted to make sure you also read these comments
You’d think liberals would be relieved to learn that an alleged racist Twitter “backlash” against the casting of a young black actress as Ariel in a live action remake of Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” was fake news. The viral complaint was generated by a troll account, and in fact, virtually all the responses and retweets of it were people condemning it as racist.
Of course, the fact that it was fake news that hardly anyone agreed with didn’t stop liberal media outlets like the Washington Post from covering it as a real and sad commentary on how racist Americans are, and of course, blaming that on a wave of racist white paranoia connected to the rise of Donald Trump. They even found a college professor to say that, so it must be true.
Here’s the good news they’d rather not talk about: in 2019, hardly any Americans give a second thought to a black actress being the lead in a Disney movie. Now if Disney wants to do something that will bring Americans of all races together in positive celebration, then how about announcing that they’ll stop ruining their animated classics with pointless live-action remakes and start coming up with original ideas again?
Archeologists from Israel and Australia announced the results of a massive four-year excavation of an ancient site in central Israel. Their findings offer the latest in an ever-growing pile of evidence that the Bible is not merely an old book of fables and moral lessons but a record of actual history.
Kyle Smith at National Review reminds us that Hollywood liberals who are straining to use Epstein’s moral turpitude to smear Trump conveniently forget their own industry’s long history of celebrating the defiling of underage girls and boys. Wonder how many of them were actually in the crowd at the 2003 Oscars giving a standing ovation to the Best Director win for Roman Polanski, who couldn’t be there because he’d fled to Europe to avoid facing punishment for drugging and raping a 13-year-old girl? (As Smith reminds us, one of those celebrities standing and cheering was none other than Harvey Weinstein.)
