Graceland update

For Elvis fans concerned about the fate of his home Graceland after the untimely death of Lisa Marie Presley, rest assured that it will remain as is, a popular public memorial to Elvis.

https://www.foxbusiness.com/entertainment/lisa-marie-presleys-three-daughters-will-receive-graceland

A representative for Graceland said that Lisa Marie's daughters Riley, Harper and Finley will receive Graceland, which is held in the Elvis Presley trust that was managed by Lisa Marie, her mother Priscilla Presley and the National Bank of Commerce. Lisa Marie previously said that Graceland was “absolutely, 100% mine,” “and when it is no longer mine, it will be my children's. And that is that."

The best way to honor Dr. King

By Mike Huckabee

Some relatives of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King are as appalled as most everyone else at that hideous statue supposedly erected in his honor in Boston.

https://redstate.com/nick-arama/2023/01/16/king-relative-blames-woke-algorithm-for-bizarre-sculpture-of-mlk-and-wife-n689685

Coretta Scott King’s cousin, Seneca Scott (who hated that statue), said that if you want to honor Dr. King, “do an [an act of service] that no one knows about.” I second that suggestion.

Instead, liberal politicians let radical leftists destroy countless historic statues that were actual works of art, then wasted $10 million of the taxpayers’ money to put up this monstrosity. That alone is reason enough to kick them out of office. By the way, I don't want to be accused of fomenting vandalism, so I will not even joke that destroying that particular statue would be an act of public service.

Toyota Motor Corp. President warns against going all-electric

The Biden Administration is trying to follow California’s lead by using government coercion to force all Americans into electric cars, despite the many drawbacks of the technology and the impossible strain they would put on the electric grid, natural resources and family budgets. But not everyone is sold on the miracle of EV’s, including a lot of experts in the automotive field.

One such expert is Toyota Motor Corp. President Akio Toyoda, who has become a lonely voice of caution among the big automakers in throwing cold water on electric vehicles (safety warning: NEVER do that!)

https://www.westernjournal.com/toyota-president-admits-silent-majority-auto-industry-leery-massive-electric-vehicle-push/

Toyoda says that a “silent majority” of informed auto industry insiders know that going all-electric is a bad idea for a variety of reasons, “but they think it’s the trend so they can’t speak out loudly.”

One thing the COVID pandemic showed us is how dangerous it is to let proponents of an officially-approved narrative silence anyone who might raise legitimate questions about it. That’s why in this newsletter, I’ve refused to sugarcoat EVs and occasionally run stories warning people that neither the auto technology nor the power generation capacity are capable of sustaining all electric vehicles.

Just a few recent stories:

A Kansas man sold his new Ford electric pickup after discovering that battery driving range can drop by up to 50% in cold weather, which he called “a disaster” for him.

https://www.westernjournal.com/man-exposes-shocking-amount-electric-truck-driving-range-cut-cold-disaster/

Or this advice from Ford about how to handle your EV in winter, and one of the tips is not to run the heater.

https://www.westernjournal.com/not-joke-ford-says-dont-use-heater-electric-truck-winter-save-battery-not/

Or this story about a man who discovered that by plugging his Hummer into a standard 120-volt outlet, charging it took from Sunday to Friday – five full days.

https://www.westernjournal.com/man-plugs-115k-electric-hummer-charge-sunday-finds-wont-done-friday/

To be clear, if you really want an EV, and you are one of the small number of people for whom they make sense (you live in a moderate climate, don’t commute very far, don’t plan on taking long car trips or ever pulling a trailer, etc. etc. etc.), then by all means, go for it. But leftists in power need to get over their hatred of fossil fuels long enough to realize that the alternative they’re trying to force on us is not a viable alternative for the vast majority of Americans.

Maybe they’d be able to comprehend that if they just examined their own hypocrisy and looked at how many liberal politicians and rich and famous green fanatics who want to force all of us to give up our gas-powered vehicles are leaving Yeti-like carbon footprints with their limos, yachts and private planes.

They could start with the more than 1,000 private jets currently landing in Davos, Switzerland, for the WEF’s annual gathering of radical environmentalists, billionaire wannabe dictators and second-rate James Bond villains.

Related: A proposal by Wyoming Republicans to ban the sale of electric vehicles by 2035 is admittedly a tongue-in-cheek slap at California. Still, it makes some good points.

Irresponsible Biden has mishandled classified documents before

President Biden’s criticism of Trump for his “irresponsible” handling of classified documents is looking more hypocritical with each passing day. And if you thought having top secret documents sitting around in his garage was something recent for Biden, guess again.

https://pjmedia.com/news-and-politics/athena-thorne/2023/01/16/that-time-in-2010-when-vp-biden-left-classified-documents-lying-around-the-west-wing-n1662342

Writing in the Arizona Republic on Sunday, reporter Greg Burton recalled a time when he joined some reporters visiting Biden in the White House in 2010, when he was Vice President. Burton noticed a document with a red “Top Secret” label on the cover, just sitting on a table. Only at the end of the press event did a panicked staffer realize it had been sitting there in front of a roomful of people with no security clearances and with cameras. His photographer refused a demand to give up his camera, but did agree to delete photos that the document appeared in.

Maybe the team searching Biden's garage for classified documents should check out the glove compartment of his Corvette while they’re at it.

More Twitter Secrets

Monday brought another drop of revelatory Twitter secrets, and this time, they expose a new villain: Big Pharma. Rebecca Downs at Townhall.com has a good detailed recap:

https://townhall.com/tipsheet/rebeccadowns/2023/01/16/new-batch-of-twitter-files-makes-clear-the-lengths-big-pharma-went-through-to-lobby-social-media-n2618351

In a nutshell, when COVID appeared, some people saw it as a cue for experts worldwide to work together to swiftly create and share inexpensive generic treatments. But Big Pharma, like Pfizer partner BioNTech, saw it as an opportunity for unprecedented profits if they could develop vaccines that were patented. To that end, they lobbied the US government to sanction any nations that violated their patents by providing low-cost generic vaccines to their people. They also pressured social media to silence accounts for spreading “misinformation,” even if they were just calling for low-cost generic vaccines or objecting to vaccine mandates and passports.

Some Twitter employees internally knew that shouldn't be labeled as abuse, but BioNTech contributed $1.275 million to a campaign to help Twitter create “content moderation bots.” Pfizer and Moderna also ran a campaign that regularly pressured Twitter to censor and label “COVID misinformation,” but tellingly, this only applied to drug industry critics and not to drug companies that exaggerated the risks of low-cost generic vaccines.

Read it all. If you swallowed everything you were told during the pandemic, this might red pill you.

“The Willies”

Speaking of the confab of would-be Masters of the Universe at Davos, check out this Twitter thread about what they’re trying to do, and how they’re trying to cover it up now that us normal people have started to wake up to it. Elon Musk is the richest man in the world and even he replied that “this does kinda give me the willies.”

NYC Mayor: The Border is a "national crisis"

If President Biden had made a real visit to the border and seen the humanitarian and national security nightmare he’s caused instead of a cleaned-up photo op, maybe he would have had the kind of revelation that New York City Mayor Eric Adams apparently experienced when he visited El Paso last week. Adams said, “No city deserves what is happening. This is a beautiful city, and what happened over the last few months undermines this city.” He blasted the federal government for its lack of coordination in dealing with illegal immigration and said he’d bring it up at the US Conference of Mayors starting today.

Adams also backed away from New York City’s self-proclaimed “sanctuary city” status, saying that New York is at its breaking point and “doesn’t have enough room” for more migrants, who are filling homeless shelters and destroying hotels where they’re being given free room and board.

https://news.yahoo.com/york-city-mayor-eric-adams-005949856.html

It hasn’t been that long since Republican Governors like Greg Abbott in Texas were being attacked and mocked by the media for busing illegal border crossers to Northern blue cities, but in retrospect, that now seems like a brilliant strategy. It's the only thing so far that’s forced Democrat mayors to face up to the crisis their party leader’s policies have caused.

It was easy for them to virtue-signal about Republicans hating “immigrants” and “There are no illegal people” as long as the disaster they caused was 1,000 miles away. But once the migrants started showing up in their cities (as many as 800 in one day in New York, and an overwhelming 50 in Martha’s Vineyard, compared to thousands a day in El Paso), suddenly, it became a real problem.

It’s too bad it had to come to that, but unfortunately, the only thing that can blow away the thick fog of liberal self-delusion is a harsh blast of cold reality.

Fake News Alert

The Trump presidential campaign was slammed for allegedly sending out what appeared to be a letter supporting Ron DeSantis, but which actually collected money for Trump. But his people say they had nothing to do with it and that it’s fake. More details here, but scroll to the bottom for the latest update.

Update on the Gas War

Last week, the news media, in one of those simultaneous blitzes of stories that look suspiciously coordinated, suddenly inundated us with stories about how baaaaad gas stoves are and how we need to be saved from them by having Democrats ban them (thank you for looking after us when we can’t do it ourselves!) But they didn’t anticipate how much Americans love their gas stoves, and there was a gas explosion among the public.

Suddenly, the Dems and their media stenographers turned on a dime, and the story somehow became “Hysterical Republicans falsely accuse Democrats of wanting to take away gas stoves.” AOC even made a video mocking Republicans (she was probably sore from all the mocking she's received for claiming gas stoves cause brain damage when she has one herself.) She failed to mention that she’s from a state where the Governor just that week pushed a new bill banning gas lines and equipment in new buildings. As I pointed out earlier, they can say they’re not trying to ban gas stoves because they’re actually trying to ban natural gas power altogether, which would render your gas stove useless. They’ve already done it in several blue cities like San Francisco.

But this particular attempt at gaslighting isn’t working because the very real anti-gas stove stories were still so fresh that the papers that ran them hadn’t even made their way to the bottoms of bird cages yet. For those who really do have brain damage from whatever source and have lost their short term memories, the Wall Street Journal reminds them and us that the Democrats' current narrative on gas stoves directly contradicts what they said a whole seven days ago.

    1. Eliminating gas creates the need for electricity, which is much more easily centrally controlled. It's being done in conjunction with releasing prisoners while limiting police, which will eventually have the public welcoming military intervention. You can't have socialism without government control.
    2. Joe Biden's push to eliminate petroleum - before there is a suitable replacement - reminds me of:
Luke 14:28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?

29 Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him,

30 Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.

Have liberals said that CO2 is used by crops and other plants in photosynthesis to produce carbohydrates. It also uses water also.

I learned this back in the 1990s while pursuing my Fruit and Vegetable Horticulture degree.

You may want to read a book by Dr. Fred Singer "Hot Talk, Cold Science."

It is documented in historical records records that the climate has changed since the time in of the Roman Empire. It may be hard to find records online but it is recorded documented records. It is documented in the archeological and fossil records. I been reading history since grade school.

In the name of truth in advertising, I think the Democratic Party should have to change the name to the more accurate designation of Socialist/Communist Party or CPUS. The Communists in China (CCP) are at least honest enough to admit what they are.

Where is the Republican Congress wrt the January 6th prisoners? Why is no one (including you) talking about them. 2 years without legal due process and it seems they are forgotten.

Those who want to destroy the petroleum industry apparently don't realize that a substantial amount of crude oil is used to make the plastic products they can't live without.
