Of the many groundless slanders that the left aims at…well, everyone not on the left...I let most of it roll off my back. But one line of attack is genuinely offensive, and that’s the accusation that if you don’t endorse draconian gun control laws that disarm the law-abiding and would have had no effect on any actual school shooting incident, it means you don’t care about children. Conservatives care deeply about children (we want to keep them all from being slaughtered, including those in the womb), but wasting time and money on more freedom-destroying laws that would have no impact on shootings is of zero help. There have to be better ways to stop these atrocities that do protect our children but don’t infringe on others' rights.

Well, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott just unveiled a set of proposals for protecting kids without harming Second Amendment protections, and he has some innovative ideas that should be looked at by every state, especially blue states that seem to think more laws on people who don’t shoot up schools will do the trick.

The most interesting of them all is so simple, it’s incredible we aren’t already doing it. Abbott notes that all police officers have to spend a certain number of hours doing paperwork. So why not have the schools set up offices where they can write their reports instead of at the police station? Any would-be school shooters would know that at any time, there would likely be one or more armed police officers in the designated cops’ office who could respond within seconds.

This is not only a brilliant idea for keeping kids safe without having to spend any extra money on hiring guards, it also finally provides us with the first good reason anyone’s ever come up with for requiring so much government paperwork.

A great idea. I think each state should look at doing this to protect our schools. If not this then hire armed veterans to defend our kids at school.

Most mass shooters have history of animal cruelty. What Las Vegas has just done. https://www.reviewjournal.com/news/nation-and-world/animal-abuse-registry-could-help-identify-future-mass-murderers/

What's so innovative about it? The plan, being a starting point, still doesn't address the root cause behind school shootings. It seems we have all of these well paid folks to make hard decisions for us who really have no clue what to do. Quickly scraping up some half baked and obviously not well thought out ideas isn't going to cut it. It is obvious Gov. Abbott doesn't understand the psychogy and motivation behind school shootings as do not many other decision makers. Tired of reactive government. Treat the root of the problem, not the symptoms.

I am deeply troubled that Sen Moody is chairperson looking into the proposed "Red Flag" issue of advanced gun grab of persons accused by "anyone" without due process. His history makes him singly unqualified to be on much less lead such a task force. Governor you disappoint me that this has occurred by appointing Beto's handler for this important issue. We know where he stands and it's not for the rights of the individual. If stabbed in the back by the Out Going Speaker , Please rectify this mistake immediately.

My comment as a concerned citizen is general. I do not think all the school shootings are isolated incidents. You could say my suggestion is far fetched, However, I kind of suspect some kind of underground element involvement which tries to undermine the security of the United States. School children, whether knowingly or unknowingly are an easy prey for these kind of underground political activities which authorities should look into while searching for remedies, or solutions, or investigating each individual case after it happened. The authorities should carefully examine the individual after the incident, his/her ties to any criminal activities. They should not conclude the suspect was bullied and had angry past and committed a heinous crime.

Good idea, also we have homeless veterans male and female that can be hired and if needed we could use go fund me funding to hire thief. Put ROTC in every school for physical training, civics training, weapon training, survival training, team and leadership training. After school programs for kid, so they don’t fall through the cracks, used their talents to help themselves succeed.

This is a great idea. Our taxes pay for both the police and the school. Let's do it. Computer systems will make this rather seamless to perform.
