Parents show their power, fight back against CRT

By Mike Huckabee

Wouldn’t it be great if one day we could all look back on the insanity of 2020-21, slap our foreheads in unison and exclaim, “What were we THINKING??”

At some point, this is going to happen with any number of things: shutting down the whole country...“Russia Russia Russia”...defunding the police...erasing our southern border...thinking we can micromanage the climate...control of speech by Big Tech...and on and on. But one thing I’d really like this to happen with right away is CRT. I refer to the very racist, not to mention Marxist, Critical Race Theory, especially now that we've discovered it’s being taught to our children in school. CRT has to die.

Ironically, if it hadn’t been for the lockdown, with so many kids forced to “attend” their classes long-distance, from home, parents might never have been exposed to the leftist trash their kids are being taught in school. And leftist teachers didn’t WANT them to know. One tip-off, though, was the “anti-racism” agreement parents sometimes had to sign. On the surface, such a pledge doesn’t seem like a big deal –- most parents in this day and age typically have very strong feelings against racism –- but “anti-racism” is not even close to being the same thing as being against racism. It’s actually being FOR racism, just against white people. Fortunately, parents of all races are getting “woke” (to borrow a turn of phrase) to exactly what it is, and how damaging it is.

And they are rejecting it.

Not just white parents, but black parents, too, see the problems with teaching their children to see race first and to believe white people come from privilege and look down on them. If you didn’t see this yesterday, here’s the video that’s gone viral of a father and his little girl, both of whom are black, dismissing CRT as a bad thing. It’s wonderful. Watch these two, and you’ll see there’s still hope for this country.

https://video.search.yahoo.com/search/video?fr=yfp-t&ei=UTF-8&p=video+father+daughter+against+crt#id=0&vid=639d840389d71dffcd811cb6d5d80dc6&action=click

About a month ago, the Carroll School District in the Southlake area northwest of Dallas, Texas, very decisively elected two new school board members who had come out strongly against Critical Race Theory. Three years ago, the district had reportedly embraced the teaching of CRT out of concerns that “institutional racism” needed to be eradicated. The left-wing indoctrination continued until parents finally took action and reclaimed their local schools. Tristan Justice at THE FEDERALIST had the details.

https://thefederalist.com/2021/05/03/parents-vote-to-stop-critical-race-insanity-in-texass-top-school-district/

One of the newly-elected board members, Cameron “Cam” Bryan, said his landslide win –- 68 percent of the vote –- was a mandate “to restore the district’s focus on academic excellence, not leftist politics.”

Justice’s piece mentions a new organization we’ve talked about, Parents Defending Education, which provides a network to support local efforts to rid schools of Critical Race Theory. Here’s that website again.

https://defendinged.org

The organization just completed a drive in Fairfax County, Virginia, after the superintendent of schools “shocked parents and community members,” they said, “by sending out a biased and unscientific sham of a survey, stating that he plans to issue a new ‘Anti-Racism, Anti-Bias Curriculum Policy’ and revise the ‘Controversial Issues Policy’ that makes certain that teachers are fair and impartial when they discuss controversial issues in the classroom.” This survey had been prepared by the New York consulting firm Leadership Academy, which was paid $49,600 to write material “infused with the controversial and divisive ideology of critical race theory. There is no room for respondents to say they reject this scheme.”

We brought you the original story of what was going in Fairfax County. Here are details on some of the 35 questions in the survey.

https://thefederalist.com/2021/05/07/fairfax-va-schools-pay-new-york-consultants-for-critical-race-theory-curricula/

Here’s how Defending Education is helping the parents organize and fight back in Fairfax County.

https://defendinged.org/press-releases/oppose-crt-in-fcps/

Proponents of CRT want black people to see a racist behind every tree. Oh, wait --- even the TREES are racist. Tristan Justice wrote a piece on this, too.

https://thefederalist.com/2021/04/09/a-nation-primed-to-see-racism-in-everything-will-think-only-about-race/

But we’ve saved the latest news on the CRT front for last: In Loudon County, Virginia, parents have filed suit against the school board, alleging that they discriminate against students on the basis of their political beliefs and their race, while also infringing on their right to free speech. This violation of their rights is being done through the implementation of their “Action Plan to Combat System Racism,” which they adopted a year ago.

Spencer Lindquist at THE FEDERALIST has more details on the plan. One aspect of it involves a “Student Equity Ambassador Program,” which excludes white students unless they identify themselves as “allies.” Not sure what that entails.

https://thefederalist.com/2021/06/03/parents-sue-loudoun-county-school-board-for-discriminating-against-students-based-on-race-political-views/

Parents there have formed a group called “Parents Against Critical Race Theory” and are being represented by the Liberty Justice Center, a national public-interest law firm that fights specifically for free speech. Daniel Suhr, an attorney with the LJC, said the case has national significance. “Not only are Loudon school leaders telling students what they can and can’t say, they are imposing controversial political views on students and punishing those who don’t agree.”

Asra Nomani, a vice president at Parents Defending Education, noted that this divisive ideology works to “turn students into snitches on each other.”

It’s interesting that two of these stories are in Virginia --- specifically, affluent counties that are suburbs of Washington, DC. Many, perhaps most, of the parents who live in these counties have very highly-paid government jobs and contracts. (As it happens, the two counties often trade places with each other as the #1 and #2 most affluent counties in the nation.) So it’s heartening to know that many of them are rejecting the garbage that schools want to immerse their kids in. If THESE parents want to fight back, I'm optimistic for the rest of the country. Critical Race Theory needs to go the way of other “what were we thinking?” belief systems and fads, like EST, the Branch Davidians, Jonestown, eugenics, primal scream therapy and, of course, phrenology.

A Jobs Update

By Mike Huckabee

The Labor Department released the May jobs report this morning. While unemployment inched downward to 5.8%, the 559,000 jobs added was well below the predicted 650,000.

https://www.foxbusiness.com/economy/jobs-nonfarm-payroll-report-may-2021#&_intcmp=hp1r_1,hp1r

Still, the media are spinning it as good news, signs of a recovery under Biden. But as I already pointed out and as this article from Redstate echoes, there are still many jobs going unfilled because Biden and fellow Democrats want to keep paying enhanced unemployment benefits that make it more lucrative to stay on the dole than to take a job. Ironically, the jobs that are being created are largely because red state Governors are cutting off those benefits, which means Biden is taking credit for the positive results of people reversing his own policy.

Fauci-Gate

By Mike Huckabee

The story of Dr. Anthony Fauci’s emails continues to reverberate so loudly throughout the land that the mainstream media are having to undertake herculean efforts to ignore it. Or in CNN’s case, to actually pretend that the emails make Fauci look good.

https://pjmedia.com/news-and-politics/matt-margolis/2021/06/03/cnns-take-on-the-fauci-emails-is-really-disturbing-n1451919

But since you’re my readers, I assume you’re not fans of willful ignorance, so here are some updates:

ICAN (Informed Consent Action Network) has also obtained over 3,000 pages of Fauci’s emails through the Freedom of Information Act. They list some of the major points here:

https://www.icandecide.org/ican_press/ican-obtains-over-3000-pages-of-tony-faucis-emails/

Many have already been covered, such as his knowledge of the ineffectiveness of masks and that reputable scientists believed the virus was likely bioengineered in a lab. Some you might not have heard are that he ignored reports of positive results from some drugs to focus on developing a vaccine and that he wrote privately in April 2020 that many tests for COVID that “have been used thus far are not accurate and are misleading.”

And Western Journal dug up this nugget: Dr. Fauci recommended canceling religious services on March 5, 2020, and four days later, okayed campaign rallies and cruise ships for healthy people.

https://www.westernjournal.com/emails-fauci-recommended-canceling-religious-services-supporting-cruises/

And for those just coming in on this story, Matt Margolis at PJ Media lists his picks for the five biggest bombshells. So far.

"Shrinkflation"

By Mike Huckabee

You might not have heard the term “shrinkflation,” but you’ve been dealing with it for years. That’s when manufacturers don’t want to raise the prices of products, so they make them smaller instead. It’s why things like candy bars and canned goods are much smaller than they used to be in your parents’ day, so if you use an old recipe that calls for a can of peaches, you might have to use one-and-a-half or two cans.

Well, with President Biden and the Democrats going on their massive spending spree and pumping trillions of dollars into the economy, inflation is starting to spike. That means you’ll not only be paying higher prices for everything you buy, but those things will also come in smaller packages. Hungry Man Dinners may become Hungry Boy Dinners, Brawny paper towels will become Puny paper towels, and a pack of M&Ms may contain only one M.

Tyler O’Neil at PJ Media explains further how shrinkflation works and what to brace for.

"Race Norming"

By Mike Huckabee

Another term you might never have heard is “race norming.” Kira Davis at Redstate.com hadn’t heard of it until it was revealed that the NFL had been engaging in it. Considering how “woke” the NFL has become, and how judgmental of other people’s alleged racism it is, you may be shocked to learn what they’ve been doing under the heading of “race norming.”

https://redstate.com/kiradavis/2021/06/02/what-in-the-actual-hell-is-race-norming-and-why-is-the-nfl-just-now-admitting-to-it-n390309

This was another terrible liberal idea introduced under the Carter Administration. It was the idea that aptitude tests for federal jobs were racially biased, so minority applicants’ scores were adjusted to counter that. Or as George W. Bush called that, “the soft bigotry of low expectations.” Federal race norming was later banned under the first President Bush in 1991.

But now we learn that the NFL has been using it as a basis to make it harder for black players to sue for brain injuries caused by concussions. The NFL was reportedly adjusting settlements for black players downward on the assumption that they have a “lower cognitive function base.” In a nutshell: they assumed that black players’ brains aren’t as good as white players’ brains to begin with, making it harder for them to prove they suffered brain injuries and deserved money. Two black players sued over this shockingly racist practice, and it made news only after the NFL promised to stop using it.

I find it hard to believe that anyone would ever think this was acceptable. The NFL's claims they’re stopping it or that it was only individual doctors who applied it should cut no ice with anyone. The fact that it was ever considered remotely acceptable by anyone is horrifying, and I never want to hear another word from them about anyone else being racist.

A Reader Writes Back...

Dear Gov. Huckabee:

You urged, "“Three cheers for parliamentary procedure!”

I second the motion!

Especially when it's used to save us all from ignorant socialist disaster.

    Mike

Regarding my prior "comment" about nation standards for guaranteeing election integrity,
I’m taking the following quote from your NFL racist crap item this week, and turning it into a nation-wide voting integrity item:

When we heard that state governments made their own rules for the critical facets of voting - ballot mailing to all voters, collecting ballots by all sorts of means, not having members of at least both major parties witnessing ballot counting, not certifying ballot computer hardware and software before using them, not having audit parity resources guaranteed to be there, etc.,
I find it hard to believe that anyone would ever think this was acceptable. The (NFL's) states’ claims they’re (stopping it) cleaning up their state voting laws, or that it was only individual (doctors) election officials who applied it should cut no ice with anyone. The fact that it (these state/ county/ poll processes/procedures changes for the benefit of any party) was ever considered remotely acceptable by anyone is horrifying, and I never want to hear another word from them about anyone else being (racist) dishonest at election time.
Make election laws uniform, and make the states all ratify the final version after it's been matured following a couple elections in the most offending states.

With regards to your shrinkflation article. I’ve been seeing this for years. Here is just one example. My local stores have almost completely stopped carrying powdered laundry detergent. Your choices are now liquid detergent or those crazy expensive detergent packs. Why? Check the ingredients, did you know liquid laundry detergents, liquid dish detergents, the shampoo you use for your hair and yes, almost every brand of pancake syrup contain thickeners. What used to be liquid soap is water thickened with cellulose thickeners so they don’t have to put as much soap in it. Most pancake syrups have less actual sugar and more water and cellulose gum. You are paying more for thickened water. As a mom and a consumer I am outraged that I will now have to pay premium prices for liquid detergents that don’t have the soap I need to clean my clothes. This is just a very small example of the changes I have seen in food and household products over the years. Honesty and pride in your product are not the norm in the consumer product industry.

    Dear Gov.

I keep reading that only about 20% or less of the United States population are liberal. I guess that means true liberals, not just feel-good liberals that after a few drinks, during the hangover, when things come home to haunt you, they still feel that way. Still, that seems like a tiny percentage to wield the kind of controls they seem to be wielding over the Democrat Party. Is that because the Democrats have such a malleable brain, or is it because the true liberals are mentally overpowering the majority of their party? Please help me to comprehend this.

Mike, not only are trees racist, but apparently birds are also. One of the charities I donate to is the NWF. Apparently, there is a move on to rename birds that are deemed to have racist names. On page 16, there is an article by Jacqueline Gray Miller. She admits that she is a novice birder but claims to be an expert on racism ("while I'm mindful of the dark history associated with their names"; referring to the Townsend's warbler and the Bendire's thrasher). She says Townsend "desecrated graves of Native Americans" an assertion without any verification or referencing, and Bendire fought in violent attacks on Indigenous people, again without reference, an unverified opinion as to the action, activity, which side, or anything else. She also denigrates John James Audubon because she claims "after the Battle of San Jacinto in 1836, (Audubon) collected the skulls of several bodies in a vain attempt to prove the superiority of white Europeans over other races". This, too, smacks of a proffered opinion and there is no reference or verification. Even if he did collect skulls, the actions need to be examined in the situation in the times in which they occurred. This may have been a hot issue at the time and probably was. Proper Science does not start with a conclusion and work towards its verification, as the leftists are wont to do. It starts with one or more hypotheses and lets the science come to its own conclusions. In this light an investigation of this type if approved may very well have been proper. She proudly concludes, "Named after a Confederate general (unlikely but this is her assertion) the McCown's longspur is now known as the thickbilled longspur after a multiyear struggle for change. That change came in August 2020 amid a larger push to have all eponymous birds renamed. It came as Confederate monuments came down, ad as our nation's understanding of Black Lives Matter went up." There are many things wrong with all of this, most of which I cannot change. However, the change I can and will make is to no longer support the National Wildlife Federation. My donations will go elsewhere. God bless. By the bye, she is a college instructor and certainly should know all of these concerns, definitely about referencing and also about proper punctuation and capitalization (I have put the words in the quotes exactly as she had them without using "sic" repeatedly).
