Ted Cruz Saved American Democracy Last Night

We should all give a big thanks to Sen. Ted Cruz for being awake and alert at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday morning and saving American democracy.

After 15 mind-numbing hours of amendment votes on the Democrats’ $3.2 TRILLION spending orgy bill, Senate “Majority” Leader Chuck Schumer attempted to sneak the “For The People” Act (aka, the “Legalize Vote Fraud” Act) into the mix, in hopes that sleep-deprived Republicans wouldn’t notice and would fail to object, thereby approving it by unanimous consent. But Cruz rose and objected repeatedly, stopping Schumer in his tracks.

Cruz called the bill a “federal takeover of elections” and a “massive power grab by Democrats” that would do the opposite of its title by ensuring that the people can’t vote politicians out of office. He elaborated that it would “strike down virtually every reasonable voter integrity law in the country, including voter ID laws supported by the overwhelming majority of this country, including prohibitions on ballot harvesting, again widely supported by people in this country. It would mandate that felons be allowed to vote, and it would automatically register millions of illegal aliens to vote. It would profoundly undermine democracy in this country…”

Yes, but “for the people!”

The defeated Schumer hilariously grumbled, “Let there be no mistake about what is going on here. We have reached a point in this chamber where Republicans appear to oppose any measure — any measure, no matter how common sense — to protect voting rights and strengthen our democracy.”

That’s funny, because if you replaced the word “Republicans” with “Democrats,” that would be a perfect description of what Democrats are trying to do all over the nation to block common sense election integrity measures and to destroy them completely with the “Legalize Vote Fraud” Act.

One of our rules here is that we only comment on news that’s actually happened, not rumors about things that might happen. So to be clear: the Biden White House has not decided to try to make Americans show proof of vaccination if they want to travel between states, like Nazis making people show their papers at border crossings. The news is that they have actually thought about it.

Also, while I haven’t mentioned this story yet, since he no longer holds any political power, the story at that link does discuss Arnold Schwarzenegger’s recent controversial comments in which he inadvertently came up with the perfect slogan for today’s Democratic Party: "BLEEP Your Freedom!"

Kudos to the Newberg Public Schools Board in Oregon (and I don’t get to say that about school boards too often these days) for voting to bar BLM and LGBTQ Pride flags and other items from school property.

They are under heavy attack from the left, with the usual false accusations of promoting racism and anti-gay intolerance. But the point is to get back to what schools are supposed to do: educate students without the distraction of divisive political messaging of ANY kind.

I wonder what the people attacking them for this would say if students were allowed to come to school wearing MAGA caps and waving Trump flags? I’m sure they would be “literally shaking” and demand that that be banned. I wonder how any of them would have survived under the school behavior rules and dress codes we had to follow when I went to school.

I can just see this at the Checkpoints during rush hour on the Beltway with a traffic jam all the way on I-95 to the Canadian Border. And I'm sure the Democrats will have their very own "Aristocratic Exempt Express Lane". Oh my! How are immigrants flooding across our borders supposed to travel from south of the border from state to state!!!

Taking a trip down memory lane, I can remember that many of us thought of Schwarzenegger and the late Michael Jackson (each artists in their own field) as being at opposite ends of the spectrum: Schwarzenegger as the "manly" terminator or a "man's man", and Jackson as the eccentric artist so fearful that he essentially lived in a bubble. Now it appears that Schwarzenegger has moved to the fear-filled end of the spectrum.
Re: Snopes plagiarism. I certainly agree that plagiarism is bad and warn students about it a lot. My suspicion of the 'coming clean' by Snopes, though, is that I'm wondering if their motive is less to 'come clean' than to generate suspicion of reports contrary to the liberal perspective. There seemed to be a lot of "conspiracy theory" references in the quotes in that article. And I think we could agree that what we've seen is a rapid labeling of any disagreement with the liberal line as 'conspiracy theory' even though much of the so-called conspiracy theory is later shown to be very close to the truth - quite a few examples could be given here.

No surprise here. I learned that most Republicans are now shills for the left. Confirms me voting independent and Biblically.
As any student of Afghanistan would tell you Afghanistan is made of tribal groups. A democracy needs true Biblical foundations like ours. The Pashtun there will never submit. Most in Pakistan. The Taliban would not last long against them. Even their women are warriors. The British employed them in their wars. Called Gurkha's. I know a couple. A different type of Muslim. If they accept you they will always have your back. If not you are an enemy for life
We still have to use all legal and spiritual means to stop the take over by Satan's hordes. Most pulpits are in hiding now

If the Afghan people and their families are not protected in the long run from the Taliban, as well as the people who supported a democratic government, the US must hang its head in shame. How will anyone trust us ever again? How can we leave a people to the mercy of beheadings, forced marriages, and women’s utter subjugation. Surely, there is some way to maintain enough presence to protect the government and others without our continuing to fight a hopeless war. The Taliban should be regarded as criminals and subject to a firing squad and or imprisonment. Our government is being run by a feckless, mean, nasty, hateful administration who thinks they can buy the good will of our citizens. Come on journalists, haven’t you had enough? You bear a large part of the responsibility for putting this feckless administration in power all because you hate Donald Trump. For heavens sake, search your consciences and stop what your doing. Tell the truth for a change without a biased slant. Surely we are better than this,

Another prime example of why the “For the People” Act is a bad bill: Any bill that cannot make it on it’s own merits should never be allowed to be an amendment on a different bill.
