Die-hard Democrat leaders and other political enemies of former President Trump might want to put him on trial, but most Americans do not.

Most don’t care to watch it. According to a new Rasmussen poll, just 15 percent of likely voters –- repeat, likely voters –- planned to watch the whole impeachment “trial.” Most did say they would check in from time to time. But 32 percent said they would not watch ANY of it.

Only 31 percent thought that Trump would likely be convicted. Another 64 percent said a conviction was unlikely or definitely would not happen.

Even a majority of the “politically unaffiliated” (independents), 54 percent, said Trump SHOULD not be convicted. Among Republicans, that number is 81 percent.

And so much for President Biden’s favorite word, “unity.” According to an earlier Rasmussen poll, 57 percent of likely voters said that just having the “trial” –- yes, we’re still using quotation marks around that word here, as it’s not really a trial –- will lead to more division. (They are right.) Among Republicans, that number is 83 percent, which is even bigger than Trump’s current base of support, according to the WASHINGTON EXAMINER.

This is in spite of the frenzy from the media, who are completely off their collective rocker. They’re trying desperately to whip up the Capitol Hill incident into a manifestation of widespread domestic terrorism within the Trump ranks. In particular, at CNN they are out of their freaking minds, with Anderson Cooper talking about Trump supporters “other-izing” people who aren’t like them, even making comparisons to genocidal Hutus in Rwanda who called the Tutsis “cockroaches” before killing them. I am not kidding.

Tucker Carlson mentioned this as well in the opening to his Wednesday show, also explaining how wrong the media are getting the real story of how the Capitol riot got started. They’ve lied about how the casualties occurred, too. Major unanswered questions remain, even as the Senate “tries” Trump for “inciting” it.

If the current mass hysteria were a square dance, some producer from CNN would be calling it. These people are psychotic. Someone should tell the men in the little white coats to come and take them awaaaaaaay!!!

Ironically, the “other-izing” here is being done by Anderson Cooper. To him, we are the cockroaches.

Yesterday, I mentioned that Trump’s attorneys, who have gotten some bad reviews for their arguments on Tuesday, are actually last-minute fill-ins for his previous attorneys whose law firm was bullied into dropping Trump’s case. Recall that Jonathan Turley has expressed dismay at others in his profession who try to prevent the former President from exercising his right to legal representation. It’s become difficult for Trump to hire the caliber of attorneys he needs. John Hinderaker, president of the Center of the American Experiment, spoke with Mark Steyn on FOX NEWS Wednesday evening about this.

"That was the worst opening statement I have ever heard, yesterday,” Steyn said, “and I tell you, I would’ve fired that guy [Bruce Castor] in the corridor ten minutes afterwards.”

Hinderaker did say that Trump has at times had “bad taste in lawyers.” But he said the real story is that “major law firms and high-profile lawyers don’t dare represent Donald Trump. We have seen this over and over again. He has hired top-notch law firms...and they wind up having to put out a public statement saying, ‘No, we don’t represent Donald Trump’...one firm after another." He told the story of a good friend of his, a senior partner at a respected global firm, who did a “tiny” amount of “volunteer” work for Trump after the election, it got out, and “the left launched a massive attack on her law firm, and the law firm’s clients.” (!!)

They were trying to put this huge, prestigious law firm out of business because one of the partners had committed a mortal sin. She decided that, for the sake of her partners, she had no choice but to leave the firm!

He added that the governor of Michigan, Democrat Gretchen Whitmer, has tried to get the lawyers who represented Trump in that state disbarred.

So, according to Hinderaker, the “two or three lawyers” who are representing Trump now “have been on the case for a week or less.” He thought the brief that they’d prepared “was not bad...perfectly adequate.”

They did have a laugh over Hinderaker’s observation that no matter how lacking Trump’s defense might be, “that lawyer is gonna win this case.” A month from now, that lawyer will say, “I won the biggest case in my life, rather easily, when the Senate voted.”

Obviously, Hinderaker is with the majority of those polled who believe Trump will not be convicted. He called it “an exercise in futility.” Of course, he said, that’s because “45 senators have already voted that they don’t think they have jurisdiction.”

He said Democrats don’t want to focus now on their own administration. “They’re obsessed with continuing to hate Donald Trump as they’ve been doing for the last four years. I find that just astonishing.”

I can imagine them watching the "trial" video over and over for the rest of their lives, remembering the good old days of Trump-hate. Of course, that much hate has repercussions. In a stunning poll from Zogby Analytics, based on a sample of 873 likely voters from around the country, 46 percent believe civil war is likely, while 43 percent believe it isn’t.

Among Republicans, the split was 49 percent likely to 40 percent unlikely. Among Democrats, the split was 45 percent likely to 44 percent unlikely. Among independents, it was 42 percent likely and 44 percent unlikely. So all groups were split somewhat similarly.

Perhaps surprisingly, whites were less likely to see civil war ahead than Hispanics and blacks. Among Hispanics, the split was 53 percent likely vs. 43 percent unlikely. Among blacks, it was 49 to 39 percent. For whites, 43 percent vs. 44 percent. Given that the margin of error is plus-or-minus 3.3 percentage points, this is essentially an even split.

There were regional differences as well. Respondents in the East were much less likely to anticipate civil war (39 percent yes, 44 percent no) than, say, those in the South (49 percent yes, 39 percent no).

People who live in large cities were much more likely to think we’ll have one than those in the suburbs. More details at the link. Obviously, all the pushing, lying, name-calling, tweet-censoring, statue-toppling, power-grabbing and boot-heel grinding by the left is having its effect. Indeed, they seem to be deliberately goading conservatives into striking back, so they'll have an excuse to crack down even more. Don't be foolish enough to take that bait.

Trumps lawyers may have gotten a slow start but boy did they come home for him. Showing the unbelievable hypocrisies of the democrats who praised the rioters all summer - including Kamala saying they SHOULD keep rioting as they burned down apartment houses and beat and killed people in the streets. Just seeing Trumps statements all the way through that were so lied about - like Charlottesville - was inspiring to me. THAT alone proved how he did NOT give people who were violent license to do these things. I think it was a true winner.

I am one who could not tolerate the impeachment hoax--again. I about throw up listening to (and especially watching) pelosi and friends (I know, she's not part of the Senate hoax) pompously exclaiming they will impeach Donald Trump, President or not!!! I don't watch msm, but flipping through the tv guide this week, I noticed there were 2 (that I noticed) channels that were carrying the circus. One was titled Donald Trump impeachment trial and the other was titled Second impeachment of Donald Trump. GMAB on that second one--pretty sure the people there were thinking this was a done deal.

I am sure the attorneys for President Trump who have been reported as jumping ship were not the only ones. I'm wondering what the threats were against Mike Pence and Bill Barr among others that convinced them to "turn on Donald Trump"--per msm reporting I have read. Am certainly glad the attorneys who made it through the fiasco made it through the entire thing. They did a good job, IMO, as the end result was acquital.

Now I'm waiting for the next trick the democrats have up their sleeves. I don't believe for one minute they will let anything go until President Trump is maybe even run out of the country. Because they are scared to death what is to come from Donald Trump, maybe even more than they were scared he was going to obliberate all their efforts to date of 2016 they had used to bring the US of A toward the one world order.

I am sure they blame President Trump for all the rioting that ruined cities in America since last year, but at least so far I have not heard them say he incited each and every riot. If they have, I missed it. If they haven't, they'll probably backtrack and try to impeach him for those riots, too.

These People I mean Democrats taken a lot of good paying jobs taken our ability to feed our family away taken our ability to be energy free why. They tell the Americans in the future you have good paying jobs. I am sorry your American belly does not work that away you can not eat in the future or pay your rent tell that to the grocery store and rent man. Do you think these people will not stage what happen on January 6.2020 to not have a debate the debate was close down after what happen. Why if you like a person would you try to hurt him. Those radicals like who ever pays them. Some how I can not see Trump paying them.

I didn't watch any of it. It's the same attacks on Trump we've seen for 4 years. The Dems will vote to convict Trump regardless of a lack of evidence and the action being unconstitutional. They won't stop until they defeat Trump Politically and financially. All ready attacking his assets. The hate is unbelievable.

That's exactly what the radicalized Dems are trying to do! Just goading & baiting ready to swing on the one that does react. The blatant lies they're telling during their mock trial should be accounted as PURGERY..lying under oath I thought was, so why are they getting away with it? If I ever got in trouble you can bet I would be held accountable for I said or did... maddening! ??

Maybe everyone should have watched it to see how the democrat's. lied, took pieces of what Trump said out so that it looked like he was guilty. THE TRUTH BEING. TRUMPS LAWYERS MADE THE LEFT GUILTY OF LYING/ AND CHANGING WHAT TRUMP SAID TO LOOK LIKE HE INCITED VIOLENCE. WHEN IN TRUTH. TRUMP NEVER SPOKE A WORD TO ANYONE TO STIR UP VIOLENCE. IT LOOKS MORE THE THE DEMOCRAT'S WERE THE MEAN AND NASTY DECEIVERS TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. AND THEY WERE CALLED OUT ON IT.
IF ANY REPUBLICAN VOTES GUILTY...THEY SHOULD BE MARKED AND GOTTEN OUT OF OFFICE ASAP. HIS CONSTITUTIONAL LAWYERS DID A GREAT JOB OF HIS DEFENSE.
THE REPUBLICAN'S SHOULD HOLD THEM ON CHARGES OF FALSELY ACCUSING OUR PRESIDENT OF SOMETHING HE NEVER DID. THEY SHOULD BE CHARGED WITH SPLICING TAPES SO THAT IT LOOKED LIKE TRUMP SAID SOMETHING BUT IN REALITY HE DID NOT PROVOTE ANYONE TO STORM THE CAPITOL. THE LEFT IS GUILTY OF TAMPERING WITH EVIDENCE TO SAY WHAT THEY WANT IT TO SAY, B UT NOT WHAT THE PRESIDENT REALLY SAID. MAKES ME SICK TO SEE THESE HATERS OF OUR PRESIDENT DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO IMPEACH HIM, WHEN HE DID NOTHING TO BE IMPEACHED. AND THE PRESIDENT WAS RIGHT ABOUT THE RIGGED ELECTION. THE LEFT IS GUILTY OF VOTER FRAUD. ALL OVER OUR COUNTRY FOREIGN ENTITIES WERE INVADING OUR VOTING MACHINES AND TURNING TRUMP VOTES TO BIDEN. IT'S A PROVEN FACT.
YET THEY KEEP UP THE FALSE RETORIC. WHEN THE TRUTH IS RIGHT THERE IN FRONT OF US.
robertlindell.com is playing that evidence on OANN. the truth about the voter fraud i there.

Children all know the rules of right and wrong...Obviously that is not how the game is played with the Democrats making up the rules! Rules do not exist when the Dems take over because their plan is to cheat from the start Who cares about some rules when everyone already knows who is going to win as long as it is the Democrats ?...Wink...wink! Go home and get a good night's sleep!

Thanks for your newsletter, I read it every morning. I appreciate those that are not watching the Senate proceedings, I understand this is a waste of our time. However, now that I am retired, I am trying to watch things myself whenever possible so I have my own reference vs letting "news" commentators tell me what they think. I feel more able to speak up to my views when I know I heard it for myself. I also found it quite telling that some of the online recorded speeches and a Senate Committee recording I have watched online had 15 or more minutes of nothing at the start. Hum, could they be doing that thinking most people will give up on watching? One example was Senator Ron Johnson's last committee meeting and the other was a speech from President Trump. Disappointing, but not surprising.
Once again, thank you for being someone whose opinions I trust!
God is getting ready to move!
    Blessings! Betsy

I can't watch it ... about 30 seconds are about my limit. It's such a waste of money and time, AND he's no longer in office! The very idea of Impeachment is unconstitutional to begin with. Of course, I guess the democrats need to spend my tax dollars on something besides abortions. I am so sick of Congress! I'm old and worked for an employer most of my life until I retired. If I accomplished as little as congress in the amount of time they spend on everything , I would have been shown the door. That needs to happen there. Send them home, without the exorbitant pensions. They have already made enough dollars off Americans to sustain them several more years.

How can conservatives not be angry after the abuse we have had to take over the past four years? Then added insult to injury by refusing to hear the millions of voices who had election fraud concerns. We did not need to hear President Trump to tell there was fraud, we saw it with our own eyes! We are not mindless sheep and will not willingly be lead to slaughter. Please check out and support Convention of States Project to protect our futures. Meanwhile, there is only one shepherd I will follow, our Lord Jesus Christ who leads us with light and truth!

My sister who has worked on the hill as a LD says the same thing -don’t take the bait . I fear however the left is pressing us too far . As Tucker once said , their polices are going to press someone into doing something crazy . A few years ago in a family discussion I was blathering on about civil war when my WWII father (101st airborne D day to Berlin , battle of bulge saw way too much action . 250 men in his original company 17 lived to end of war) said “you don’t know what you are talking about, that is the last thing you want “ . That really made me think , in reality the emotions are very high but when one considers the carnage of war it cannot be an option. I am 65 but my kids 30s and young grandkids (5) . In a civil war they would come to irreparable harm . So what are we to do ? Stand by living by the rules until our country is destroyed ? We simply cannot live with the consequences of this election . I have many who depend on me for a job. I may not survive in business with these morons in power . I have always been a two feet on the ground kinda guy , but I am almost embarrassed to say how troubled I am .

What can the normal average common sense law abiding American citizen do to stop the liberals from ruining this great country more. If we write letters to congress will they even be read? What about a good old fashioned sit in? I'm tired of doing nothing.

This trail against President Trump is nothing more than a Kangaroo court. How can they get away with this in America? All of those pressing to do this should be held accountable and tried themselves. This is the biggest outburst of evil ever.
When Maxine threatened to kill President Trump, why was she arrested and charged? If an ordinary citizen had threatened him or any other official, they would have been arrested. How do I know this, cause it happened to a family member of mine. They are not living by the laws that the private citizen has to live by. This all needs changed as they are NOT ABOVE OUR LAWS.

This is so true! I have not even checked in to it. Not because I don’t care- I do. But because the Dems and their double standard b.s. and lying, fault finding, blame game crap just gets me so mad that they think we are so stupid and watch them waste money on this pretend story they’ve made up, yet again! When in actuality they need to be impeached and hauled off to jail for treason. On a more positive note if they do get away with this then it’s open season to do the same thing to obama, fake pres. biden, and clintons too right! Time to pull off the gloves!

I am one of those who won't watch this witch-hunt by the Socialists to besmirch a former President (who still should be President) who's only fault is that he loves this country.
As for a War (no war is civil), as President Thomas Jefferson said, we need a revolutionary type war every 20 years in order to keep this Republic and its Constitution pristine. To my mind, we're long overdue.

I was wondering where Jay Sukalo (sp) was and why he was not representing the President or any of the other lawyers from the first trial. Such a shame but then who knows a principaled lawyer any where??? There is a day of reconing coming but just do not know what form it will take but one by one, they will fall. They will hang themselves one way or another all we must do is not let them know what is being planned and act like you are not interested and then get to the polls and vote them out but do not tell the poll estimators. Keep them guessing. This past election a reporter was outside the voting building and ask our son, after voting, how he had voting and he simply said, that is why we have curtains and he never told him anything. Not that he was not proud of his vote, is was for President Trump, but he did not wish to give them the satisfaction or chance to misrepresent what he said.
