Today's Edition

I’ve long noticed that about the only time the mainstream media give positive coverage anymore to people of faith is when they can find someone who will attack other people of faith, or who will take the leftist side in a political issue. So naturally, when the magazine Christianity Today, which was founded by the Rev. Billy Graham, published an editorial endorsing the impeachment and removal of President Trump, that got all kinds of media coverage.  The editor even cited Graham’s name.

That fired up the Rev. Franklin Graham, who wrote: “Yes, my father Billy Graham founded Christianity Today; but no, he would not agree with their opinion piece. In fact, he would be very disappointed.” He said Christianity Today had moved to the left and “now represents the elitist liberal wing of evangelicalism.” He pointed out that no Republicans, many of whom are strong Christians, were convinced by the “evidence,” and neither were a couple of Democrats. He called the impeachment vote “politically motivated, 100% partisan,” and said Trump has been a pro-life champion and a staunch defender of religious freedom.

With gratitude,

Mike Huckabee

Working on vacation! Just HAD to answer this "Republican's" letter

By Mike Huckabee

From Sheryl:

Gov. Huckabee, As a registered Republican interested in the truth, I watched the impeachment hearings. When I read your letter, I have to wonder whether you watched them yourself or not. It appears that you did not, because somehow you missed the evidence that was made so clear. I am confused by my party leaders. Are you stupid, or simply dishonest? Please urge the Republicans in the Senate to treat this impeachment hearing exactly the same as they would if the President was a Democrat. Your integrity and that of our party, are at stake.

From the Gov:

The Democrats in the House did NOT treat this impeachment in the way the Republicans treated the impeachment of President Bill Clinton. (By the way, there was incontrovertible evidence that Clinton committed perjury and suborned perjury, for which he was fined and deprived of his law license.) If you go back and look at the Republican Judiciary Committee’s rules for Clinton’s impeachment, you will see that he received the due process that Adam Schiff refused President Trump. On a purely partisan vote, Schiff’s committee approved all new and shockingly unfair rules. So if you’re concerned that impeachments aren’t treated exactly the same regardless of party, you might want to look at that.

The lack of evidence this time was so obvious that I have to wonder if you yourself watched the actual hearings gavel-to-gavel or instead listened to the through-the-looking-glass interpretations on CNN. The mainstream media did NOT report the truth about this, just as they did not report the truth about IG Horowitz’s findings. There was no evidence of misconduct by President Trump in his phone call with Zelensky --- only hearsay and gossip and “presumption –- and in fact the one piece of direct evidence was exculpatory. None of that garbage would have been allowed in a court of law. And President Zelensky himself has said more than once that he wasn’t pressured at all.

If I don’t further debate your claims, it’s not because I’m “stupid” or “dishonest” but simply mystified by them.

I wanted to make sure you also read these comments:

I’ve been referring for a while now to the House Democrats’ “impeachment” of President Trump as theater, but maybe a more accurate comparison would be to a bad movie. A lot of money and trouble went into making it, but once it was done, the producer (Nancy Pelosi) got a good look at it, realized it was a dog that would never play, and is trying to quietly dispose of it by dumping it on the straight-to-video market.

How else to explain the dizzying logic of claiming that Trump is such an existential danger to America that he must be impeached RIGHT NOW, even before Christmas...and then refusing to send the case to the Senate and adjourning until January, after inviting Trump to come to the House and give his State of the Union Address on February 4th?

She claims the invitation is in “the spirit of respecting our Constitution,” but why would she start doing that now? More likely, it’s because she knows Trump will still be President, so it’s in the spirit of finally respecting reality. By the way, if she expects both the nation and the Constitution to still be around in February, then obviously, she doesn’t really believe Trump is an immediate existential danger.

Rep. Devin Nunes, who has a demonstrated history of being able to sniff out fraudulent partisan fish stories, said that Pelosi’s refusal to send the articles to the Senate unless she gets to dictate the terms of a “fair trial” (which she knows she has no power to do) proves this was always a “fake impeachment,” presumably just to mollify the rabid anti-Trumpers in her party who’ve been demanding he be impeached since he was elected.

(On a side note, some conspiracy-minded folks are suggesting that Pelosi will hold off until after the 2020 elections, in hopes the Democrats win back the Senate, then rubber-stamp it for an equally unfair, partisan, evidence-free conviction. Two problems with that: it’s highly questionable that articles of impeachment passed by a House that no longer exists would legally still be in effect for a future Senate. Also, it requires a two-thirds vote to impeach, and just by doing this, the Democrats are making it more likely that they will lose seats in the next election. With Trump on the top of the ticket, there won’t be an off-year “blue wave.”)

Naturally, Trump doesn’t want to let Pelosi get away with this unprecedented dirty trick of using a fake impeachment to hang over his head, so he tweeted this:

“So after the Democrats gave me no Due Process in the House, no lawyers, no witnesses, no nothing, they now want to tell the Senate how to run their trial. Actually, they have zero proof of anything, they will never even show up. They want out. I want an immediate trial!”

Certainly understandable. But if I were a betting man, I’d say the smart money will be on Pelosi never sending her garbage document over, Mitch McConnell declaring it a dead issue for lack of action by the House (which as even one of the Democrats' anti-Trump law professors told them, would mean he was never officially impeached at all), and then the Senate can start subpoenaing people to untangle the genesis of this whole dark chapter in US political history and maybe uncover the real corruption it was intended to hide.

Starting Monday, my staffers and I will be taking a much-needed Christmas week break from the news.  But fear not: like Santa’s toys, the Huckabee newsletter will continue to be delivered all over the world!

Back when I was doing the “Huckabee Report” radio show and had just written my book, “A Simple Christmas,” I asked listeners to share their favorite holiday memories. We received so many incredible stories, from the hilarious to the miraculous, that it became a holiday tradition.  This year, I’ve gathered a selection of some of my favorite stories that remind of us of the true meaning of Christmas. Some you may have heard before, and others are being shared here for the first time, but I’m sure you’ll love them all.

Of course, if anything happens that’s so important, it’s worth me stopping playing with my grandchildren to write about it, I will (but don’t count on that!)  Give yourself a break, too: just tune out the noise, politics and divisiveness and enjoy this happy season.

And if you have a treasured family Christmas story you’d like to share in the comments, I’d love to read it.  Please be advised though (here comes the legal boilerplate) that by doing so, you grant us the right to share your story with others in the future in various media.  For instance, if you have a great story like the ones I’m sharing this year, I might lift it out of the comments and share it with everyone next year.

Thank you for your support of this newsletter and my website and TV show in 2019.  I hope you’ll enjoy next week’s special Christmas editions, and have a blessed and Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year!

    Dear Governor,
I would appreciate your commentary on the book, "this present darkness by frank e. peretti"
As you are aware, we are told about spiritual warfare in the book of Daniel chapter 10. In these verses we are told about "territorial demons"
I firmly believe that America … ie, the democrats....are governed by these territorial demons.
    Your thoughts please?

Governor, this is a family Christmas story that happened way back in the 60's. My father was like a kid at Christmas. He loved it! He had a Santa Claus suit and would play Santa at church events, or about anywhere he was asked to. One snowy Christmas Eve, in Neosho, MO where we lived, Dad donned his suit and left the house. One of his stops was at the home of a prominent local banker. My father parked his car, walked up to the front picture window and looked in. The banker and his wife were seated facing away from the window, but the children saw my Dad in the window and began yelling out "Santa Claus, we saw Santa Claus"! Of course the parents did not believe them. Dad promptly moved away from the window at that point. The children went to an outside door that was not commonly used but was on the same side of the home, hoping to see him outside. In the foyer, they found all the Christmas presents, where they had been hidden. Then, of course they had no doubt they really saw Santa and ran back into the living room to tell their parents Santa had delivered their presents and they found them! In the eyes and minds of the children, that was absolute proof they had seen him! I don't know how the parents handled that but they certainly were on the spot! This story is true and typical of my Dad at Christmas. I miss him so much, especially this season. God bless you Governor for all you do, and I hope you see Santa Claus!

I was also confused by Cheryl's assertion that she saw/heard any testimony that could possibly be construed as evidence that was made so clear. Maybe she confused the "learned" professors' opinions as evidence? Or, maybe she thinks hearsay is admissible? Bless her heart.

I do hope that all of Washington and all the news outlets will also take a week off to chill, enjoy the Christmas holidays (or whatever holiday those who don't celebrate Christmas may be celebrating.)

Have a great week!!!! Thanks for all your work and your newsletters, the videos, and your show!!!

Sheryl is lacking hearing and listening skills or she as you suggested didn't watch any proceedings relying on news clips People like her reveal why this country needs people like yourself Governor to help us keep everything straight. As a reader of your letters you don't even have to be a fan, which I am, of you just read and absorb the information and anyone with a half a brain could see that the "hearing" which it never was one that only the Democrats 2-3 persons account was the best they could bring to the table. I really do hope that a person who doesn't like you can bring charges against another because I am going to prison for sure!

I have become convinced that anyone with liberal leanings will tell whatever they need to tell, whether true or not, to make their point. I have seen people, on Facebook, claim to be Republican, while slamming Trump, when quick check on their home page tells a totally different story. Truth has no importance to these people. This is the case with the Main Stream Media as well. One really suspects any published story of being a lie or, at a minimum, embellished so that it will cause more ‘shock and awe’. This really makes me doubt that truth will ever return to an place of importance in this country. Lying has become the rule rather than the exception.

“Christianity Today” is definitely NOT the same as it was when the Rev Graham started it. Another project that started out pure and uplifting, has been attacked by the devil’s little helpers.
