Today's Edition: 6 minute read

It’s not news that Hillary’s makeshift private email server was very likely hacked by China and other foreign powers while she was Secretary of State. That was revealed about a year ago. But the curious indifference of FBI officials when they were told about it in late 2015 or early 2016 --- that IS news.

The strategy of both the State Department and the FBI apparently was to play it all down. According to a new report from FOX News’ Gregg Re, Senate investigators allege that State Department officials sought to “downgrade classified material found on the server.” The senators conveyed this assertion in a letter, along with evidence in the form of interview transcripts, to Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley.

Now, class, why would the State Department try to lower the classification of Hillary’s emails? (I see all the hands are going up. What a smart class.) Yes, at that time, Hillary was all-in as the anointed Democrat candidate for President. She and the DNC had already decided this, long before. She was going to be the next President of the United States. We’ve already seen the lengths then-FBI Director James Comey went to in order to “save” her; here we see that the State Department was getting into the act. They had to make Hillary’s transgressions look less serious than they were.

Israel update

By Mike Huckabee

Israel’s cabinet has decided to bar a planned visit this weekend by Reps. Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, who have become notorious for their anti-Israel statements and support of the anti-Semitic BDS (Boycott, Divest, Sanction Israel) movement. An emergency meeting was called after Israel learned that Omar and Tlaib planned to visit the Temple Mount with Palestinian Authority officials, just days after riots there.

Israeli officials suspect the two were planning to use the meeting as a provocation and BDS promotion stunt.  Israel’s Interior Ministry has the authority to bar anyone who promotes BDS.

It’s unfortunate that they won’t be able to visit Israel, as I have dozens of times over the years, and see that what a thriving, free, open democracy it is. Maybe they would have learned something valuable and come home with desperately-needed attitude adjustments.  But if they were planning to come only to cause trouble, then Israel has every right to slam the door and tell them to go back to where they came from: America.

Fake news

By Mike Huckabee

No, despite the media hysteria and the furious calls for his resignation, acting USCIS Director Ken Cuccinelli did NOT say that the poem on the Statue of Liberty applied only to European immigrants or that we should accept only immigrants from Europe.  Details at the link, but you'll have to weed through a lot of OUTRAGED claims about what he didn't actually say before you find out what he really did say and why.

Who are they representing?

By Mike Huckabee

Many observers have noted that for all the talking they do and all the media attention they get, the four members of the leftist “squad” of freshmen House Representatives don’t seem to be spending much – if any – time representing their districts.  They all seem more interested in remaking America or doing away with Israel than, say, creating more jobs back in the Bronx (AOC even bragged about chasing away thousands of jobs from her home district.)

It makes one wonder just whom they’re supposed to be “representing”?  I know you could never, ever “follow the money” to trace the motivations of socialists, but if you could, this story might raise some suspicions.

Also note this interesting factoid: the top eight House members who get the largest percentage of donations from outside their districts were all Democrats, including three of the four “squad” members.  Texas Democrat Rep. Sylvia Garcia was the only member whose FEC-recorded campaign donations all came from outside her district.  Meanwhile, “on the whole, freshman Republicans took in more money from their own districts than freshman Democrats.”

So if you wonder why some Congress members don’t seem to care what the folks back home think about an issue, maybe it’s because that’s not who they’re working for.

I wanted to make sure you also read these comments:

If you despair of partisan rancor preventing anything from ever getting done in Washington, here’s a video that might help lift your spirits.  It’s a list of 10 major pieces of legislation that actually got heavy bipartisan support over the past two years and were signed into law by President Trump. The bills cover a range of subjects, from reducing medical costs to helping veterans.

One caveat: you might notice that almost all of these bipartisan bills passed before the Democrats took over the House this year.  When Republicans ran both Houses of Congress, bills were passed that Democrats supported.  Since Democrats took over the House, actual legislating has taken a backseat to endless investigating, trying to impeach Trump, dividing Americans, never-gonna-pass radical bills like the “Green New Deal” and partisan and inter-party warfare.

It’s been said that voters like divided government because they like gridlock since it prevents either party from going too far.  But putting Democrats in charge of the House creates a kind of gridlock ensures that literally, nothing worthwhile is ever going anywhere.

Thursday, NASCAR star Dale Earnhardt Jr., his wife Amy, their one-year-old daughter Isla and two pilots all survived the fiery crash of a small plane that ran off the runway in Bristol, Tennessee.  They were taken to a hospital for evaluation, but are all reportedly safe.

Let’s say a prayer of thanks for this miraculously safe outcome. The Earnhardt family has endured enough tragedy from crashes.  Dale’s father was killed in one in the 2000 Daytona 500, a tragedy that led to several NASCAR safety reforms.

A brutally funny new column from Kurt Schlichter about the idea that we must be crazy kooks if we distrust various elite institutions that have given us zero reasons to trust them in recent years.  Sample quote: “Our elite is a burning dumpster fire of failure that would have to exponentially improve to achieve mediocrity.”

In a way, government gridlock isn't always a bad thing. It also prevents them from burying us with more rules and regulations. Let the libs keep chasing their tails with the Russia collusion myth. It reminds me of my golden retriever that chases squirrels in the yard.......with a tennis ball in his mouth. Lots of huffing and puffing, but little else.
