Democrats introduce articles of impeachment

January 4, 2019 |

As of Thursday, we once again have a Democrat majority House, and after promising voters to focus on improving the environment and helping Americans with issues like health care, the first thing they did was move to impeach President Trump.  It took California Rep. Brad Sherwood all of 30 minutes before he reintroduced the articles of impeachment that he introduced in 2017 but that went nowhere because back then, adults were in charge.  Also, because his move for impeachment was based on Trump having committed “high crimes and misdemeanors,” and he couldn’t name any then and still can’t – although now, the lack of grounds will be much less of an impediment.

Sherwood, however, seemed downright dignified compared to newly-elected first Muslim Representative Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, who went before a crowd to crow about impeaching Trump and not only used one of the foulest profanities in existence, but did so in the context of quoting what she allegedly told her young son about the President. If she were a Republican, liberals would already be on the phone to Child Protective Services.

Just to make it clear how shaky the actual case for impeachment is, Rudy Giuliani ran down the list of possible allegations and shot them down one by one, like clay pigeons.

Commentary continues below advertisement

It will fall to Speaker Pelosi to hold the lid on her colleagues' self-defeating partisan grandstanding without clamping down so tightly that the far-left hotheads in her party overheat and explode.

One thing that’s become shockingly clear ever since 2016 is that, while the left claims that Trump is “angry” and stirs up fury, hatred and divisiveness (I’ve been to Trump rallies: the people there seem quite cheerful and optimistic, and Trump is often funnier than most stand-up comics these days), the true boiling hot rage exists almost entirely on the left.

Still unable to accept that voters rejected their corrupt, entitled and condescending candidate and took a chance on an unproven quantity who promised to do something other than keep barrelling along in the wrong direction for another eight years, Democrats have rationalized their defeat by blaming it on Russian conspiracies, Facebook memes or their opponents being racists and Nazis…anything to avoid having to deal with the fact that their cherished policies simply don’t work and never have in any place they’ve been tried.

This has led them into a kind of dark, political tunnel vision that cries out more for psychiatric intervention than for the voters to entrust them with power again.

Over the past two years, by virtually every metric, things have been going pretty well.  Taxes were down, business was booming, unemployment hit historically low levels, and Trump was fulfilling his promises to renegotiate trade deals, crush ISIS and bring the troops back home.  Some of these were issues Democrats claimed to support in the past (they’d even voted for building a border wall and moving our Israeli Embassy to Jerusalem, back before they thought anyone would ever actually expect them to do it.)  Even the things they attacked Trump over most furiously (“That monster is separating children from their ‘parents’ at the border!”) were mostly things that Obama did first, and they didn’t even bat an eye.

(At the link, Victor Davis Hanson offers an even more thorough recap of all the ways in which 2018 was actually a very good year.)

Yet while most Americans felt happy and relieved, those on the left acted as if Armageddon was upon us.  They seem locked in an unbreakable cycle of rage and despair. Celebrities couldn’t even gather to hand each other golden trinkets in celebration of their latest billion-dollar-grossing movie without wailing and raging about how horrible everything was because Trump was President.

Now, with Democrats restored to power in the House (maybe, as Trump predicted, Americans got tired of winning, or else voters just put them back in power so they’d finally stop whining), you’d think these sourpusses would lighten up a bit, but no.  They’re still sucking lemons 24/7.

A new Axios/SurveyMonkey poll found that while large majorities of Americans are optimistic about their own futures and the US economy in 2019 (that’s 90% of Republicans and 63% of Independents), 54% of Democrats are pessimistic and think the economy will do badly  (I’d tell them not to worry so much about the economy; the GOP Senate will block most of the House's destructive impulses.) They see nothing but gloom and doom, unless they are in complete control of the government.  This is what happens when you let politics become your religion.

Despite the left’s attempts to politicize absolutely everything, there is more to life than politics.  Most Americans don’t get up every morning and indulge in a Two-Minute Hate because Trump is President.  If they weren’t totally lacking in empathy, maybe they’d realize most people’s lives don’t revolve around whether Democrats have their rear ends in the seats of power or not.

When Democrats rant and rave that we have a President who’s an unqualified narcissist; who thinks he knows more than everyone else around him, but who really knows nothing about foreign policy, defense or economics; who lies to our faces and surrounds himself with power-abusing, pocket-lining knaves and yes men; and who is violating people’s civil rights, dividing Americans, politicizing and corrupting our institutions, and shredding the Constitution by issuing illegal executive orders, we can just reply:

“Welcome to how the rest of us felt from 2009 to 2016.  But we didn’t let it turn us into raving lunatics.”

I believe there are more Americans than is being told that believe in President Trump. He's what we've needed for many many years. I'm so proud of Sarah for standing up to the liberal bullies. Love you guys!

Amen they can suck it up and endure just like we did for 8 very long years. Wish I could buy them for what they are worth and sell them for what they "think" they are worth. Be one of those "rich" people they want to tax out of existence. Another thought for them - Never did get a pay check from a poor person.

First let me say we need to call the Democratic party what it actually is...The Socialist Party. Secondly we (The American People) elected these people to do a job, which is to focus on what is best for this nation. BUT what we have is a group of CHILDREN who whine and cry and are going out of their way wasting time trying to get rid of our PRESIDENT. If anyone needs to be impeached we need to start with Pelosi and work out from there. Sadly our politicians live in a sheltered world of their own creation truly believing they are more important than they are...and sadly for us we are stuck with them.

Thank you for putting humor and hope in your posts. When I read other articles on internet I get such a negative feeling and fear for America's future. I am a worrier by of those who "give it to the Lord" BUT somehow take it back again! I fear for my daughter and grandchildren as to what kind of America will be there for them. People think they have accomplished or can accomplish their goals/jobs by themselves not once thinking of the talents that God gave them that has made this possible! May God bless you today and always. May God bless our families, America, and our President.

I agree with everything you said, especially that last statement -- “Welcome to how the rest of us felt from 2009 to 2016. But we didn’t let it turn us into raving lunatics.” I wish your comments would get more publicity, but the leftstream media keep on hammering away like toddlers having a tantrum, marching lockstep to the screaming crybabies in the now Democrat-heavy House of Representatives. Your views are so commonsense, I can't figure out why the rest of the country can't see that. The loudest talkers from Bubbleville East and West shout down the sensible, quiet logic of Bubbaville, unfortunately.

The reason Trump isn't liked by the Democrates and some republicans is they can't control him. That is really what pisses them off.

Your comments are spot on! Democrats are never going to stop whining even though they are in power and they blame Trump for causing all the hatred yet they are the ones who started it all by being furious Trump won. The names some of them call Trump such as Nazi and racist are simply what they feel and attribute it all to Trump. I have never seen such hypocrisy in all my 79 years as an American citizen. I still can't figure out how they took back the House unless all the hatred spewed on CNN and other cable channels actually worked. Thank goodness the Senate is ok.

I agree with everything you said! I get so angry at the Dems. outrageous vitriol, I have to turn off the TV and go out for a walk.
I was shocked when they regained control of the House. Nancy & Chuck are costing us millions, and the road looks dim to me as far as working "a team effort". I'm a Christian; I pray for God's intervention! You and Sarah do a great job! Good bless you as you fight for us.

THEY" keep wasting our tax dollars, they could build the WALL, 3 times over; if they stop using money against TRUMP. Their problem IS they have no clout, not even in Congress. Trump just made them a lame duck Congress. The next two years of the Partial Shut Down, (SHOWDOWN). TRUMP will win in 2020, just over this issue! Congress will become Republican in 2020.
The real question is whom will be President in 2024. I would vote for a Republican FEmale President Ticket. It would be a shoe in landslide election, to the Female Candidate.

I am so sick and tired of these news organizations that seem to forget everything the Liberal Democrats wanted before Trump came into office. They all wanted the wall, it’s on the news reels. They are the ones who have made this country become so divisive it’s appalling, they’re the bullies that they preach about, they are destroying America, not Trump. I may not lie everything about Trump, but he’s doing what I want done for this country. If you want to live in the US, do it the right way. And why don’t we take care of our homeless and veterans first before an illegal ? I had friends that moved back to the country because when they applied for citizenship, 9/11 happened and everything was put o hold. These were hard working people that paid taxes, had a social security number and did everything they were, yet we should allow the illegals to come in without anything, living off of our dime ?? I don’t think so. Obama created an environment that was so racially charged it was unbelievable, and to put at risk those that protect us was horrible. Our police force had a target on it’s back because of Obama and his lack of support, a support he used to protect himself and his family. I could go on for hours, but I won’t. Thanks fro sharing all the info and Sarah is awesome !!

    Dear Mike,
I appreciate your vigilance. Thank you.
Am I naive to think the majority of people are as 'insightful' as I. I am not all that brilliant but it takes no insight whatsoever to see that it is all about power between Nancy P. and Pres. Trump. A power struggle that the Pres. doesn't seem to be participating in. Which is good. He doesn't need to stoop to her level and I use her to represent the Democratic mind frame. It appears that they have no concern for the people. I am hopeful that the vast majority of people can see this though Dem. did gain control of the house. It was troublesome until the Lord reminded me to '"pray first for all men, kings and those in authority" etc. with the eye to the results of that prayer which can also be found in Isaiah 32...the effect and fruits of righteousness. I assume you are very familiar to my references so I paraphrased. I was reminded that Prayer changes things and that is my hope. The Lordship of Jesus Christ prevailing through them and in spite of them so that the people of this nation are blessed and safe and free from hopelessness and depression etc. And that the people of this land can see clearly what is going on. I don't watch the news and I don't listen to all the opinions of the commentators because I think my opinion is as good and acceptable but unfortunately many people do and it is astonishing to me how friends and family can turn on someone because they have a conservative viewpoint or a favorable viewpoint toward the President. That 'civil war' has to stop and the soul of America needs healing and that's a God-job.
As I said, I don't watch news programs, but the information is EVERYWHERE! So I look to you for clarification and understanding of what is really going on....we don't trust the media at all....but I trust you. I believe you are a godly and honest man and I value your insight and information. Thank you for what you are doing. MB

Mike Huckabee, I absolutely agree with your comments about the Democrats! My uncle and aunt, John Whorton and Lucretia Whorton, loved you. I wanted to vote for you for president, but I'm sure many things not seen occurred to change that, for you to drop out. I hated the whole time that Obama was in office, committing numerous acts of treason with the Democrats SAYING NOTHING! Obama even allowed family members to come to our country and stay with him in the White House. Why anyone would trust Nancy Pelosi after she told everyone that you can't know what's in Obamasnare (care) until you vote for it is absolutely beyond me! How insulting! God bless and protect Trump!!! God bless America!!! God has promised that NO WEAPON that is formed against us shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against us in judgement He will condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness if in Him, saith the Lord (Isaiah 54:17)!!! As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord! Thank you for your article!

Well said Mike! I haven't seen a single policy from the left that actually helps the American people since 2016. They, the "Progressives", are the hate mongers. I'm surprised I haven't seen any of them foaming at the mouth. Thanks Mike for continuing to fight the good fight.

Correct, Mike. I was one of MANY who knew Obama never had a right to the Presidency in the first place, which is proven in the youtube video entitled "Born in Kenya II" where Barrack's paternal grandmother/"Mama Sara" can be found proudly claiming to have been an eye-witness to his birth...there IN MOMBASA, KENYA. Anytime his destructive policies were even questioned, the critic was labeled a racist even though the criticism had absolutely nothing to do with his ethnicity. We were forced to put up with 8 long years of that insanity. Trump won the election of 2016 honestly and should be respected as well as appreciated for the excellent job he has been doing for America throughout the past 2 years. If anyone should be impeached and removbed from office, it should be Maxine Waters and her ilk who go about trying to incite citizens to violence against conservatives. My B.A. in psychology taught me that those who become a danger to themselves OR others belong in psychiatric wards, PERIOD. Again, thanks for all that you and your daughter Sarah do to bring reason to the discourse. May the Lord bless you!

Unfortunately for Democrats they don't seem to realize that our "checks and balances" system should work on the basis also of a firm commitment to bi-partisanship and not unilateral "judge and jury" target practice in a War of Attrition.. "last man standing" of course usurps the position and accolades... Their appreciation for seniority, expertise, authoritative and experiential leadership leaves them empty handed in the realm of communication.. So clearly they are resorting to monosyllables, apocryphal authoritativeness, relativity of Truth and oblivion to Civic Duty.
