BIBLE VERSE OF THE DAY

"Welcome to the stupidest week in the Senate"

By Mike Huckabee

Yes, that's our Quote Of The Day, from North Dakota Sen. Kevin Cramer.

Next, the “Republican” Hall of Shame:

Sen. Susan Collins of Maine

Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska

Sen. Mitt Romney of Utah

Sen. Ben Sasse of Nebraska

Sen. Bill Cassidy of Louisiana

Sen. Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania

These are the "Republican" senators who joined all the Democrats to vote “yes” on the question of whether the “trial” of President Trump” is constitutional.

All but Sen. Cassidy had already voted, last month, to hold the “trial.” (Note: I will be placing quotation marks around the word “trial” when it comes to this thing, which is being presided over not by a judge but by a politician who's already on record that he WILL BE voting to convict and that others should do the same. There’s another term for this: kangaroo court.) Cassidy said later that the Trump team was “disorganized; they did everything they could but to talk about the question at hand.” TOWNHALL has a good analysis.

Attorney Bruce Castor's argument got low marks from Alan Dershowitz, who tweeted, "I have no idea what he is doing." I preferred David Shoen's presentation. Here's some good analysis at RedState.com.

Given that this is just a big fat exercise in political theater, I honestly don’t see why even some perceived oratorical shortcomings should change Sen. Cassidy's mind. No, I'm thinking it's more likely there's been some serious arm-twisting going on behind the scenes.

You've probably seen the montage of Democrat leaders such as Maxine Waters urging unrest in ways Trump never approached. If Trump can be impeached and tried over language his political enemies choose to interpret as "incitement" --- it doesn't meet the legal definition --- then these folks can be, too, for what they said over the Antifa and BLM "Summer of Love," and a much better case can be made. (And, hey, they're still in office.) Will they think about that? No.

Sen. Sasse is said to have presidential aspirations for 2024. It’s hard to imagine someone this tone deaf even being considered for President. Worse, I hate to think that someone with this little regard for the Constitution would be considered as presidential material at all.

In fact, according to THE EPOCH TIMES, Sasse is facing growing pressure from the Republican Party in Nebraska.

In Sarpy County, Nebraska’s most populous Republican-majority county, the local Republican Party has now voted to join the GOP in two other Nebraska counties in an earlier effort to condemn Sasse, as reported in the OMAHA WORLD-HERALD.

The votes of these 6 GOP senators won’t make any difference in the final outcome of Trump's "trial," as “conviction” requires a “yea” from 67 senators out of 100. At least 17 Republicans would have to vote to “convict.” (Note: we’re using quotations marks around “convict,” too.)

In the House, Liz Cheney of Wyoming is facing a huge backlash as well. Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz has already traveled to Cheyenne to rally against her. “The truth is that the establishment in both parties have teamed up to screw our fellow Americans for generations,” he said. “Now, in Washington, DC, the private insider club of Joe Biden, Mitch McConnell, Mitt Romney, Nancy Pelosi and Liz Cheney, they want to return our government to its default setting –- enriching them, making them more powerful at our expense. But we can stop ‘em, and it starts right here in Wyoming.”

Donald Trump, Jr., said he would go to Wyoming as well to campaign against Liz Cheney. “It’s time to have a change at the top,” he said. “It’s time to have people who are going to start representing the people, not their own agenda, not their own nonsense, but their constituency.”

House Democrat impeachment managers, led by Rep. Jamie Raskin of Maryland, argued in the Senate that not trying President Trump for what they allege he did in January, right before he was going to leave office, was creating a “January exception” to the Constitution. “...You can suddenly do [it] in your last few weeks in office without facing any constitutional accountability at all,” he said.

I guess that was enough to change Sen. Cassidy’s mind about voting to go ahead with the “trial,” but all it did was show that he and the others are just willfully obtuse –- they know good and well that this is all stagecraft.

In fact, speaking of stagecraft, the Democrats were ready with a highly-produced (likely by some Hollywood friends) 14-minute "movie" that edited Trump's words and intercut them with violence to make it look as though these were related. Very deceptive and manipulative. Attorney Shoen went on Tuesday's HANNITY to blast this.

Trump attorneys told senators (while Sen. Cassidy was apparently taking a nap), that there's a way to deal with FORMER Presidents who are alleged to have committed “high crimes and misdemeanors” while in office. You treat them like any other private American citizen alleged to have committed crimes: you get an arrest warrant, go out and arrest them, charge them and put them on trial. It's a real trial; senators don't get to make up the rules. The prosecution has to put on a real case with documentation and witnesses. (Note: the House did nothing of the sort in their slapdash impeachment of Trump.)

If the prosecution has no evidence, the judge dismisses the charges. If there is evidence, the judge proceeds to trial, in which a jury (not a bunch of partisan politicians) typically renders the verdict. Then, if found guilty, the accused must pay for their crimes. They might go to jail, or there is punishment in the form of probation, fines, etc. This would put an end to their political careers as well, which, as we all know, is the goal of this Senate “trial.”

Wait, I spoke too soon. If you're a Democrat, it's not that much of a deal to be convicted of a crime and come back to be, say, mayor of Washington, DC. Mayor Marion Barry served prison time on a cocaine conviction and was re-elected after being released. I digress.

Actually, I'm extremely proud of President Trump and his attorneys for the presentation they gave on Tuesday. These attorneys arrived late in the game; recall that another law firm had been intimidated into dropping the case. Of course, it didn’t matter what Trump's attorneys said; the vote to proceed to the "trial" was pre-ordained.

Sen. Rand Paul had already introduced a point-of-order resolution to preemptively declare the “trial” unconstitutional, but it didn’t get to a vote, as it was immediately tabled by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer. That was on January 26, the same day the Senate voted to to move ahead, 55 to 45.

Louisiana Sen. John Kennedy has it right: ‘I think the constitutional defects of this --- both in the House and Senate --- are overwhelming,” he told CNN before the opening arguments. “You don’t have to be Judge Judy to see the constitutional defects.” That’s why I figure that the Democrats see them, all right. They just ignore them.

Tyler O’Neil at PJ MEDIA has some good observations.

He’s also done a great job of concisely laying out the arguments Trump’s attorneys are making in his defense. These were included in their brief filed Monday.

A "Good Dog" story

By Mike Huckabee

I love a “Good Dog!” story, and here’s a really good one: a New Jersey man named Brian saved a six-year-old German Shepherd named Sadie by adopting her from the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Shelter. A few months later, she saved him. He suffered a stroke, and Sadie helped pull him across the room to his cell phone so he could call 911, then stayed with him, licking his face to keep him awake until paramedics arrived. He’s now in rehab and visits with Sadie every night by video call while she’s staying with his family.

Granted, it would’ve been easier for Sadie to bring him the cell phone, but when you’ve got a dog like that, you don’t quibble over details.

Must-read

By Mike Huckabee

Glenn Greenwald, one of the last of a dying breed of brave, honest, liberal journalists, writes about the growing plague of spies, snitches and tattletales from big corporate media outlets like CNN, NBC and the New York Times who are so offended by the concept of free speech that they’re obsessed with ensuring nobody anywhere on the Internet is able to speak freely without being publicly shamed and having their reputations and careers destroyed.

He offers a number of ignominious examples of these professional wokescolds ruining people, including a New York Times reporter who spent months infiltrating a free speech app discussion group before “exposing” that a Silicon Valley entrepreneur said a politically-incorrect word. Problem: he never said that word. Someone else did, but that person was clearly just quoting a Reddit group that used it. When called on her malicious false reporting, the Times snitch just said thanks for the “clarification” and reiterated how hurtful it is to use that word. When that weasel move didn’t work, she deleted the tweet and locked her account.

To quote Greenwald:

“But this is now the prevailing ethos in corporate journalism. They have insufficient talent or skill, and even less desire, to take on real power centers: the military-industrial complex, the CIA and FBI, the clandestine security state, Wall Street, Silicon Valley monopolies, the corrupted and lying corporate media outlets they serve. So settling on this penny-ante, trivial bull(bleep) — tattling, hall monitoring, speech policing: all in the most anti-intellectual, adolescent and primitive ways — is all they have. It’s all they are. It’s why they have fully earned the contempt and distrust in which the public holds them.”

I’ll bet you want to read it all now, don’t you?

"It's a trap!"

By Mike Huckabee

Not satisfied with interfering with elections, destroying competitors and silencing free speech, Twitter and Facebook are apparently concerned that people are getting around their speech/thought control efforts by putting out their own newsletters. So both tech giants are reportedly trying to take those over, too. Twitter just acquired the newsletter platform Revue, and Facebook is planning its own newsletter “tools” for journalists and writers.

Why am I reminded of “Star Wars’” Admiral Ackbar: “It’s a trap!” Once newsletter creators get used to the benefits, how long will it be before they start seeing their content censored, their readers spied on, or get taken offline if they dare say something unapproved by Silicon Valley’s leftist thought police?

Thanks anyway, Mark and Jack, but I think I’ll keep sending my newsletter by email and posting at my own website, www.mikehuckabee.com.

Blue vs Red Vaccine Numbers

By Mike Huckabee

New York, whose Governor thinks he did such a bang-up job on the coronavirus that he wrote a book praising himself, seems to have serious problems getting the vaccine that they should thank Trump for to their people.

Jazz Shaw at HotAir.com has some experience in this field and offers some theories as to why it’s such a mess. Surprise: it has to do with mismanagement and having no incentives to operate efficiently or save the taxpayers’ money.

https://hotair.com/archives/jazz-shaw/2021/02/07/nyc-vaccination-pods-ghost-towns-say-blew/

Meanwhile, even the New York Times has started to notice that leftist states and nations that brag about listening to the “science” are doing much worse at handling the virus and the vaccine distribution than the conservative states and nations they condescendingly criticize.

The Times admits that “progressive” leaders in blue states are more concerned with process, and creating intricate rules about who “deserves” to get vaccinated first on their intersectional charts, while conservative states are just getting as many people as possible vaccinated. In short, red states get to work and get things done, while blue states play political games and create pointless rules and expensive bureaucracies that prevent things from getting done. Even a deadly pandemic can’t seem to change that basic, immutable fact of life.

YouTube boots LifeSite News

By Mike Huckabee

In one of the most outrageous assaults yet by Big Tech on freedom of speech, Google-owned YouTube has permanently banned the LifeSiteNews channel, the video arm of the pro-life news website, which had over 300,000 subscribers. They also removed all of the many videos they had posted.

It’s not clear yet why YouTube completely wiped the site's channel. Speculation is that it may be because of the site’s coverage of vaccines, but they aren’t anti-vaxxers. From what I’ve seen, they’ve mostly just covered debates on the legality of mandated vaccines and the morality of vaccines created using aborted fetal cells. LifeSiteNews covers the news from a traditional Judeo-Christian perspective. Is that what got it banned?

Fortunately, all the videos were backed up, and LifeSiteNews is working to build up its alternative outlets on platforms such as Rumble. If you are a subscriber to their YouTube channel and wonder where they went – or if you want to send a message about free speech to Google and YouTube – you can learn where to find them at their new locations at this link:

I am 87 and cannot believe all the evil, lies and violence in America. It is not Trump. He has not burned buildings, it is evil sparked by evil politicians who lie and encourage. I pray others will join me in working to kick them out of office. They are ruining America

Governor, please explain why Nancy Pelosi has so much power. I don't remember any other speaker of the House having this much power. One would think Pelosi was president. Why can she not be stopped or impeached? The woman is pure evil.

Every Congressperson and Senator have sworn on the Bible, before God, that they will uphold the US Constitution. Clearly, everyone who has voted against President Trump in this impeachment proceedings without allowing President Trump due process in the House, and as we will see, without evidence in the Senate, should be impeached themselves. Perhaps they should even be sued for the harm and financial damage they have caused and criminal charges brought for trying to take away Trump's 5th Amendment rights. Is there some process to prosecute out of control politicians? If they keep getting away with this they will keep doing it. If they can be held accountable for being traitors to the US Constitution, then perhaps this can be stopped. What is the answer?

I have found that YouTube, Google, Facebook, etc are so entrenched in our society that an individual can not disconnect from them. For instance, my insurance carrier tracks my travels and applies discounts to my account. The insurancer uses google to do this. Messages to my health care provider use facebook and twitter. So, I have become a prisoner of this condition. Divorcing myself from these tyrants started out as a simple task and turned into a momentous undertaking. On another matter, I see you made the switch. Kudos and continue. It may take a while before the demos figure it out.

It seems to me that we have forgotten - the devil is in the details! Not we, not our chosen ones, do not pay to the beginning of all the lawlessness both in the White House and in the field. Let's take a look where it all starts - Everyone we elect gives first of all - WHAT?!?!?! ?? CORRECTLY!! Oath !!! In now let's see - How they fulfill their oath - But nothing !!! Gave and forget !!! And we FORGOT - What did he swear to?!?!?! And from this an AVALANCHE is formed !!! Example - Trump FACTS did not break absolutely the oath! But Biden and EVERYONE who were elected to the Senate Congress simply READ it and immediately FORGOT! And we forgot to ask them - Who did you swear to serve ?? The people of America or their party of lawlessness ??? And now let us read - What is the threat of violation and NOT fulfillment of the Oath!? !! We DO NOT know !! So much for an avalanche !!!

Second if NY work is behind us here In Texas on getting this shot out then they are way, way behind cause to get the shot here in Texas is near to impossible for some 1b people who don't do a good job with computers. I had to get our daughter to get us on a long, long waiting list and a lot of hospital and such are not getting the shots. I guess this is biden's Chinese verius plan.

    Matthew 26:55-56
Yesterday, today, tomorrow in this world we live around consistent evil. But don’t be like the disciples and run away. Evil will follow. Remember Peter. But we have the Holy Spirit with in us and Peter did not have it at that time. So, stand firm and speak the true facts about the Scriptures. It is murder to kill an unborn human being. Biden your Church says it is a murder; therefore, are you a Catholic? Sleep on that Biden in and on your Catholic belief. P. S.: And your order is not the law of the land. And therefore, as a natural born citizen of the United States my taxes should not pay for anyone to have an abortion, period.
One more thing: read again what Jesus said! And think what the elected leaders are telling certain religions to do during this pandemic.

Hello. Still not sure why you keep pushing any covid vaccine. It is experimental, dangerous.... there is a 99.9% chance of getting covid and multiple ways to deal with (same as flu and colds) without getting a shot filled with who
knows what. It makes me sad that people are blindly getting the shot without investigating. I pray for everyone who is. And do not get me started on masks. Do not work, never worked and rarely worn properly. Wake up sheeple, please!

In reference to conservative states doing a better job on Covid vaccinations, I have to brag about my home state, Mississippi. Like every other state, we wish we could all get it and there is a waiting list, but the Mississippi Department of Health has done an outstanding job with its website, updating it as needed with new programming when it got bogged down. They changed the programming to inform us where and when shots are available before we start the scheduling process. Their programmers need a big thank you. And unlike other states where politicians are in control, Mississippi gave control of the vaccine rollout to exactly the people it should go to, the state department of health which is doing a stand-up job here in our state. The appointment process is streamlined and the vaccination sites, well, another big shout out is needed. At least the one I went to in Hattiesburg is being run by the Mississippi National Guard. It is a drive-thru site. Hundreds of workers keep the lines constantly moving. They have a streamlined system of checking your paperwork, double checking who you are and which shot you are getting. The workers were kind and patient and had a great attitude. I love my home state. I have gotten both my shots at this time and both times I moved from the beginning to the end of the line in less than 15 minutes. I spent more time waiting after the shot, where they watch you for reactions than in the actual shot line. The news media would have you believe the vaccination process is a disaster. It is not. People are getting vaccinated all over the country with few the problems that exist being caused by politicians. Interestingly enough. I heard a news story last night that said Biden is sending out this many more vaccines this week. Not one time at the beginning of the rollout did anyone say Trump was sending out vaccines. Biden did not have one thing to do with this vaccine rollout and has nothing to do with it now. The rollout is a result of Trump’s Operation Warp Speed but not one news media outlet or politician has given him credit for this great feat.

Some of the news stories I have seen have complained about Trump's lawyer's opening arguments yesterday, and I can't understand why. I watched almost the whole thing (I - thankfully - missed the "impeachment" managers' presentation), and I thought it was "right on" about how unjudicial and unconstitutional this shame proceeding was going to be. He had good arguments, and a good, brief video clip of Democrats calling for worse things than Trump is being accused of.

I live in the blue state of MI. I’m 84 years old and am in the age group currently approved for getting the COVID Vaccine. Mi has so screwed up its distribution that they don’t even know who’s been vaccinated or how the vaccines have been distributed (by random).
I’m currently on 5 different supplier lists to get the shot. Most of my younger friends have gotten their first shots—the luck of the draw. I never have been lucky at winning lotteries! In this computer age there is no reason not to have had the distribution organized statewide. But then again, this is Whitmer land...sigh.
