Today's Edition: 6 minute read

Today’s must-read article by Byron York asks the question, “Has anyone actually read the El Paso manifesto?”
We’ve now been through almost a week of rising partisan hysteria, accusing President Trump (and by extension, anyone who voted for him) of being white supremacists who were accomplices to the El Paso mass shooting.  This was because the shooter reportedly posted a crazy “manifesto” that made it clear that he was enraged over race-mixing and illegal immigration (the blame-Trump crowd conveniently ignores that the shooter predicted the media would falsely blame Trump when he’d felt this way long before Trump entered politics – just as they’re trying to ignore the mass shooting the next day in Dayton, Ohio, by a Satan-loving, Elizabeth Warren-supporting, pro-gun control socialist, but I digress.)
York makes the point that everyone in the media is talking about the shooter’s motivations and his manifesto, but has anyone actually read it?  Because even though it’s clearly insane, there’s a lot of stuff in it that’s totally at odds with the leftist narrative or with any of Trump's beliefs, but nobody’s saying anything about that. For instance, the shooter not only denies being influenced by Trump, he criticizes Trump for issuing too many work visas to foreigners.
Read the full article for the details, but prepare to be surprised if you thought his manifesto was just a rehash of a Trump rally speech.  He was also furious about automation replacing jobs, Republicans backing corporations, the high cost of college, and most of all, he rants at length about his extreme environmentalist views. He was angry that illegal immigration was bringing in too many people who would exhaust resources (and use up government money that could be spent on universal health care and a guaranteed income.)  He’d obviously been filled with the same doomsday environmentalist messages that are drilled into many kids these days: that people are a plague and we need to “get rid” of a lot of them to save the planet. At one point, he rails against people drying their hands on paper towels made from trees, as if the tree were more important than human life.
I wonder where he got that idea?  I’m pretty sure I know, but I would never blame the sources of such ideas for the killings this lunatic personally committed.

With gratitude,

Mike Huckabee

Must-Read Article: This week, the New York Times accidentally ran a headline about President Trump that was fair and objective. When their readers nearly rioted, they quickly changed it for the second edition to a negative headline about Trump, and apologized for accidentally committing an act of professional journalism.

Chadwick Moore in the London Spectator expanded on that apology to create this open letter from the New York Times to its subscribers, and it is spot-on brilliant and hilarious. Note to This is not an actual letter from the Times editors. It’s meant to make a point through humor (i.e., “satire.”) And we all know that, so you don’t have to fact-check it for us.

Are you lonesome tonight?  Then tune in to “Huckabee” on TBN and get all shook up by our annual salute to Elvis on the 42nd anniversary (it can’t be 42 years, can it?!) of his passing on August 16, 1977.  He was only 42 when he died, which means it’s now been as many years since he left us as he had on this Earth. But what an impact he had in just 42 short years!

Of course, we’ll also have plenty of news and commentary on the big issues of the day.  Dennis Prager will discuss his new documentary with Adam Carolla, “No Safe Spaces,” about the war on free speech on campus.  You’ll hear the incredible life story of a Huck’s Hero who overcame a tragic childhood to become Miss California and one of America’s leading advocates for foster children. David and Jackie Siegel will tell how the shocking death of their teenage daughter inspired them to walk away from a billion-dollar business to fight opioid abuse.  We’ll visit “Our Kind of Town,” and laugh at the news “In Case You Missed It” and the hilarious stand-up comedy of Mark Christopher Lawrence.  Then we’ll top it off with a special salute to Elvis by his friend and country music legend, T.G. Sheppard.

All that and more is coming tonight on “Huckabee” on TBN, at 8 and 11 EST, 7 and 10 CST. Just visit and click on the “WATCH” menu at the top to find all the ways to watch, from local cable and broadcast channels to streaming. You can also stream full episodes of previous shows and see highlights and web exclusives, like extended interviews and online-only musical and comedy performances, all at that same website.

A big thank-you and salute to former DNC Chair Donna Brazile, who showed grace and wisdom that many in her Party and the media would do well to emulate.  She refused to join in the jihad to brand President Trump as a racist and lay personal blame on him for mass shootings.  Ms Brazile called that a “blame game” and said the President “had nothing to do with these shootings.”  She told Fox News Radio’s Guy Benson:

“This is unbecoming of a country. The President of United States, you know, should not be blamed for, you know, these individual killers…What we have to hold each other responsible for is our tone. We all have to set a tone.  We need to set a tone for our kids, for our future, for the values that we share as Americans. And, you know, we like these gotcha questions. Hey, are you a racist or you — I don’t like that. I’m black, yes I’m black. That’s who I am, but that’s not everything. You don’t know anything else about me other than the color of my skin. That’s not how we should do it.”

Talk about ingrates

By Mike Huckabee

I wrote yesterday about a “feel good” story that shows that Trump supporters are not racist thugs, and that Americans are not at each other’s throats. It was about Trump supporter Scott Presler taking it upon himself to clean up the district of Baltimore that Trump accurately decried as filthy and rat-infested, because the entrenched Democratic government had let crime and illegal dumping go on for years. Presler organized over a hundred volunteers who helped local residents bag up and haul away tons of trash. The residents were grateful for the help and the attention Trump brought to their longstanding problem, people of all races worked together to help each other, and the neighborhood was finally a little cleaner. Who could possibly be upset about that?

The editors of the Baltimore Sun, that’s who. It appears that no matter how noble your intentions or how good and effective your works, if you contradict their “racist Orange Man bad” narrative, they’ll find some reason to tear you down, as John Sexton reports at

The editors of the Sun (which, before it was “racist” to point out, ran many stories about the area’s rat infestation) wrote an editorial grudgingly admitting that Presler’s efforts had helped clean away trash and weeds. And then, they got out the knives.

They claimed that by coming in and cleaning away the trash and weeds, those conservatives helped reinforce the “tired image of our failing urban cores,” that poor people can’t take care of themselves and that public officials had failed them. They accused him of not understanding that garbage wasn’t removed from alleys because people feared doing it, since drug dealers like it there to conceal their activities. They demanded to know if he was going to come back every month from now on, to clean up the trash that accumulates again due to illegal dumping. And they said that if he kept coming back, it might give him “better perspective” and “even lead him and his followers to advocate for federal housing, health care, transportation, education, criminal justice, civil rights and anti-poverty policies aimed at urban communities.”

Wow, talk about ingrates! The people who actually lived there were grateful for the help, but the Sun editors (whom I’d be willing to bet live nowhere near those neighborhoods) seem really ticked off that they got cleaned up by any means other than government, which seemed incapable of accomplishing it.

To answer their points: (1.) The effort didn’t “reinforce a tired image” of failed government, it shone a spotlight on the actual failures of government. (2.) If it’s too dangerous to clean up the alleys, how come Presler’s volunteers were able to do it? (3.) If the trash is due to drug dealers and illegal dumping, isn’t it the government’s job to arrest those people and stop it, not Scott Presler’s? (4.) In what Bizarro World is a conservative who helped deal with a problem that leftist government allowed to fester now under obligation to keep coming back and doing it over and over, and worse, to endorse the same failed, top-down, pocket-lining, corruption-ridden, liberal government solutions that created the problem in the first place?

Hey, Baltimore Sun: now that people are finally “taking out the trash,” maybe that should be your cue to replace your editors.

    Governor Huckabee
Your show over the weekend was great, I especially was interested in David and Jackie Siegel's horrible experience losing their daughter. The did not mention the WHY that she took to drugs etc. and as a parent and grandmother, I am always interested in the WHY young people turn to drugs. The youth of today has so many more opportunities with their lives then we ever had when we were young I do not understand how they "need" drugs, are depressed etc. maybe it's their social media causing their problems !

Hey do you think the Clinton machine had anything to do with the Epstein death? Maybe Bill just didn't want the world to know he was associated with Epstein or flew around the world on the peddifile express plane! Something to think about !

I wish Republicans could take a page from the Democrats playbook. EVERY Republican should announce over and over and over again their refusal to consider the removal of fire arms from "Red Flagged" people because Every Deplorable would fit into the category per every Democrat's description. We would be giving them authorization to disarm us.

Why are we blaming government (democrat or republican) for the all the problems in our cities e.g. “... failed, top-down, pocket-lining, corruption-ridden, liberal government solutions that created the problem in the first place”. Aren’t you following a conservative ‘narrative’ like it is often claimed that liberals are guilty of doing? Isn’t it true that private industry abandoning the USA and moving our industry overseas to China had a devastating effect on jobs and neighborhoods in cities like Baltimore, Detroit and many others in the ‘rust belt’?

The FBI seems to have all its resources on monitoring anyone who is a Capitalist so with all resources monitoring the right . The whole blame should be on the FBI. With the WALL in place the who dynamics and language and news about the BORDER would be 100% different. And the anger would not be so intense also the NUT Nadler should be investigated

So enjoy your articles. Frankly, Mike, I really wonder why the 21 year old gunman drove eleven hours from the Dallas area to El Paso to eliminate Mexicans. Many reside in his area of the state and of course there are millions of Mexican illegals throughout the U.S. As stories go, it was announced there were three gunmen at the Walmart area. We heard one of them had been shot and the other two were on their way to the west side of town where I live. My daughter called and asked me not to go outside. It turned out the story was false, but I'm sure you can imagine that we were all very concerned. I was ashamed of the Democrats here in El Paso who criticized President Trump and didn't even have the grace to shut up about his visit. In all my 90 years I've never seen such disrespect of our President. I think Donald J. Trump is one of the finest Presidents we have ever had. Yes, sometimes he talks too much, but lots of people do. I wish you the best.
