Not Your Father’s Democrat/Republican Parties

By Mike Huckabee

The Democrats have been getting poor people to vote for them (and keep themselves poor) for years by claiming that they’re the party of the poor and the working class and the Republicans only represent the wealthy. Like much of what they tell voters, that is a hunk of hooey, and there's now official government proof.

As the linked article reports, a new study of IRS data by Bloomberg backs up several other studies in showing that the exact opposite is true: Republicans are now the party of working people and Democrats the party of wealthy elites.

While the demographic trend accelerated under Trump, with wealthy liberal elites flamboyantly signaling their hatred of him while Americans who were finally getting good-paying jobs loved him, it started much earlier (I wrote a book about the growing disconnect between liberal elites and the rest of America, “God, Guns, Grits and Gravy,” before Trump even entered politics.) But here’s some hard proof that the old cliché is now well and truly kaput:

2020 IRS data shows that Democrats represent 65% of taxpayers with incomes of $500,000 or more, while 74% of taxpayers in Republican districts have incomes of less than $100,000. In 1992, the average Republican Congressional district was 14% richer than the average Democrat district. Now, it’s 13% poorer than the average Democrat district. This is because Democrat power is increasingly being concentrated in a handful of big (very badly-run) blue cities that are centers of big money industries such as stocks, show business and high tech.

Of course, my favorite metric in this story is from the Cook Political Report: 85% of counties with a Whole Foods voted for Biden over Trump, while only 32% of counties with a Cracker Barrel went for Biden.

Check out the full article, where author Ameer Benno goes into the details of why the wealthiest among us are so leftist and pushing big tax increases on the evil greedy rich, when they are the “evil, greedy rich.” Maybe they are self-hating rich socialists who think they deserve to be punished for their success. But if so, let me make a suggestion: fire all your expensive accountants and tax attorneys, and quit getting your bought-and-paid-for politicians to put loopholes into the laws to protect you.

Just hand over at least half of everything you own to the government. That way, you can rid yourselves of your guilt, punish yourselves for your success and stop punishing the rest of us along with you.

Perfectly Timed Story

By Mike Huckabee

Here’s a story perfectly timed for May Day, a big holiday on the normally bleak communist calendar:

A Trump supporter secretly infiltrated an Antifa group in Sonoma, California,

This should help destroy the notion that Antifa is just "an idea" and not an organized, far-left group using terrorist tactics to attack, destroy, silence and intimidate. I'm pleased to hear that the leader of this group, who was previously arrested for felony assault on a police officer, is now frantically trying to remove his social media history after his ID was passed along to authorities. But shouldn't our intelligence and law enforcement agencies be the ones infiltrating Antifa to identify and arrest those who violently flout the law? And shouldn't they have been doing it a long time ago?

A Cooling Dish

By Mike Huckabee

It looks as if, despite some Democrats’ dearest wishes, the Senate will continue acting as the Founders intended: as a cooling dish for the overheated passions of the House. Moderate Democrat West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin announced Friday that he would not vote to make DC the 51st state, meaning there will be no 50-50 tie for Kamala Harris to break. Manchin pointed out quite correctly that DC statehood would require a Constitutional Amendment, since the Constitution specifically forbids it.

So I hope that doing away with the Constitution is another Democrat dream that will have to wait for another day.

Biden Administration Quietly Ends Trump Policy

By Mike Huckabee

This week, the Biden Administration quietly ended another Trump policy and will once again allow so-called “sanctuary cities” that won’t cooperate with ICE to apply for a $250 million federal grant program.

These cities can now continue to be rewarded with federal grant money despite refusing to comply with federal immigration laws and protecting criminal illegal aliens from deportation. That policy has led to far too many stories like this one from last December…

The upside of this is that we now have the Biden White House on record as affirming the right of cities and states to refuse to cooperate with federal laws they don’t approve of. That will come in handy, considering all the states that are voting to refuse to allow biologically male athletes to join girls’ school sports teams…

Or to comply with repressive new gun control laws…

Or to teach Marxist-inspired, racially-divisive “Critical Race Theory” in schools…

Or to go along with the Democrats’ push to nationalize election laws and legalize vote fraud…

They popularized the word "Resistance," and now, they're getting a load of it right back. In fact, by restoring grants to "sanctuary cities," I like to think that Biden is restoring federalism by re-empowering local governments that are closer to the people, so that Washington can end all its meddling micromanagement and take a reduced role. That may not be the precedent he believes he’s setting, but I think it’s the one we need to take from this, and carry it all the way to the Supreme Court.

“Not Me!”

By Mike Huckabee

You know those “Family Circus” cartoons where the little kid is standing next to a broken lamp and telling the mom, “Not Me!” Well, imagine the President of the United States being interviewed about a disaster he’s created at the border and using the exact same strategy.

Well, This Is Reassuring

By Mike Huckabee

President Biden just got a big thumb’s up for what he’s done to America in his first 100 days from “Democratic” Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

She’s apparently so happy that Biden’s governing soooooooooo much farther to the left than she expected, she’s now willing to completely overlook the fact that the “children in cages” she was once photographed crying over are now living in far worse conditions and in far greater numbers than under Trump.

Border Preview

By Mike Huckabee

After his address to Congress, President Biden went to Georgia, and it went about as well as you could imagine. To paraphrase Groucho Marx, if you think our immigration law enforcement is bad off now, just wait till Joe gets through with it.

New Podcasts

By Mike Huckabee

Episode 40: On the latest bonus episode of "The People's Podcast," Senior Pastor Dr. Robert Jeffress of First Baptist Dallas joins Governor Huckabee to discuss his experiences as a spiritual advisor to President Trump, his thoughts on President Biden's latest remarks and "abominable" moral policies, and the "catastrophic" immigration policies playing out at the border.

Episode 39: This week on The People’s Podcast, Governor Huckabee hosts four-star Navy Admiral William McRaven for a discussion of his spectacular career and his new book The Hero Code. In the book, Admiral McRaven shares the stories of the true American heroes he’s known and the extraordinary qualities they share. In this hero’s guide to heroism, humility is the main ingredient.
