1. Federal judge grants temporary injunction:

A federal judge in Texas granted a temporary injunction to 35 Navy SEALS seeking a religious exemption to President Biden’s vaccine mandate.

The judge ruled that the mandate does heavily burden their religious beliefs and the government hasn’t shown that it’s the least restrictive way of ensuring a healthy fighting force. Indeed, at least six of the SEALS had conducted large-scale trainings during the pandemic with no incident.

But the most important quote in the ruling, and one that should be more widely applied, quoted and sent to the White House, Congress and Supreme Court as a reminder, is this (I might even get it embroidered on a pillow):

“The Navy service members in this case seek to vindicate the very freedoms they have sacrificed so much to protect. The COVID-19 pandemic provides the government no license to abrogate those freedoms. There is no COVID-19 exception to the First Amendment. There is no military exclusion from our Constitution.”

2. "Presidenting Is Hard!”:

President Biden’s sharp attacks on how President Trump handled the pandemic are coming back to haunt him. Latest example: his accusation that it was a “travesty” that there weren’t enough COVID tests when, over a year later and under his “leadership,” there are still nowhere near enough COVID tests. I assume they’re all stuck out in L.A. harbor, on a boat from China.

3. Texas victims of "bail reform" grow:

Most Americans think of Texas as a state where laws are enforced and rationality still rules. Sadly, some of the biggest cities, like Houston and Austin, have been taken over by “progressive” Democrats who have instituted some of the same insane policies that are driving people to flee states like California for Texas.

And here’s the price that gets paid, even in a state where people are allowed to carry weapons and fight back. Thanks to “bail reform” (letting known criminals out of jail to victimize people again), 113 capital murder defendants in Harris County, home of Houston, have been let out on bail. Thanks to such policies, total murders leaped to 473 in 2021, and since 2018, 156 people have been killed by criminal defendants let out on bond.

You’d think that Texans would be smart enough to know that “catch and release” is a policy for fish, not murderers. Maybe it's because of all the California voters who've moved there.

4. Population growth slows considerably:

If the government is going to keep running up a massive debt on future generations’ tab, we’re going to need future generations to pay them off. But the Census Bureau reports that last year, US population growth was only 0.1%, the lowest in history. The birth rate is so low, we added fewer than one million people last year for the first time since 1937.

If our political leaders want someone to pay the taxes to fund their lavish pensions, they’d better stop telling young people to wear three masks, stay home and keep six feet apart.

5. Feel-Good Story of the Day:

When the surge in COVID cases made it impossible to hold a 102nd birthday party for this World War II veteran, take a look at how his town managed to salute him anyway.

All these issues should concern the American people, however most are looking to what the government can do for or give them. So Sad!!
