President Trump's Press Conference

August 16, 2017

President Trump’s surreal press conference yesterday was like watching a scene from a gladiator movie. The press seemed to think its role was to jeer and turn thumbs down, while Trump waved his sword and defied their demands for his head. Yesterday’s top outrage was Trump’s explanation that he didn’t immediately make a specific attack on the white supremacist protesters on Sunday because he didn’t yet have accurate information about what had happened and wanted to wait until he got the story right. Naturally, the press wasn’t buying that; if they waited until they got the story right, there’d be hardly any coverage of Trump at all.

It was also interesting to see how many liberals on social media slammed Trump by saying that he often tweets before he has all the facts. And they slam him for that, too. So now, on a subject this important, they want him to do the thing they routinely slam him for?

He did single out the white supremacists for special denunciation at the press conference, which is as it should be. They are absolutely vile. The idea of elevating one race over another is an affront to God. But he stuck to his assertion that there was bad behavior on the other side as well. Even media accounts that lambasted Trump admitted deep into their stories the inconvenient truth that the Antifa protesters did show up with weapons to disrupt a permitted protest.

If you want to see a great example of how a story can be slanted by a headline, try this:

“Trump Doubles Down on Blaming 'Both Sides' of Charlottesville Riot, Compares Lee to Washington and Jefferson”

I lived in Arkansas when you were Govenor. I would have voted for you for president if you had got the nomination. I am not very political and have no ax to grind, but I do ask myself the following:

Is all this Trump bashing coming from this organization, Organizing for Action (OFA)? Is the OFA behind all the groups and individual people who continually push hate towards the president Trump and towards constitutional government in favor of the all of me and none of you style of the former president Obama and his anti this, that and everything being espoused by the Ridiculous media. Should the FBI or IRS investigate the OFA tax free status compared to their activities?

Thank you Mike for keeping us informed. So important in a democracy. How can a man who is praised by community leaders for initiatives in helping inner cities be accused of racism ? The reason Trump is so hated is that he speaks out of a sense of honesty and fairness. Whereas so many politicians and journalists are seeking popularity.

You better look in the mirror before you use the words "violent ways" White nationalists; militia movements; anti-Muslim attackers; I.R.S. building and abortion clinic bombers; and other right-wing groups were responsible for 12 times as many fatalities and 36 times as many injuries as communists; socialists; animal rights and environmental activists; anti-white- and Black Lives Matter-inspired attackers; and other left-wing groups.

There's a plaque that hangs on the wall after exiting the Holocaust Museum in DC. "Never forget what you've seen here today lest we forget." This may not be verbatim, but close. The same words of wisdom surly should apply to the Civil War.

    Hey Mike,

Writing you this letter, asking you to sponsor a new sports team I've thought up. Have all the players, the name, all at the ready. It's called the "Charlottesville Traitors." OK I know! Just listen. Picture the A team. I call them the demorats. B team-the rhinos. Kinda hard to keep them on the field though. Seeing as how they run for the dugout everytime a foul ball is hit. And of course the C team. Probably the most talented at what they do than any. They're the liberal news media! Now isn't that 'spacial'. A is for real dude. Don't worry; it doesn't matter what sport they play. They'll slither into any game with ease. Don't plan on winning the superbowl anytime soon though. All they ever do is sit around running their mouths and complaining about how awful the coach is. But boy can they talk!!! So how about it? Think you could spare a quarter to invest in my dream team? OK! I know. That's a little on the expensive side. A guy can dream can't he!

    Dear Mr. Huckabee,
I try to watch all the cable channels to see what all the (probably a bit fringe) people are saying about the latest subject in politics. Sometimes I can watch even FOX. So when I looked at it today, I found you defending the moral equivalency of Trump on the Charlottesville murder.
Years ago I - brought up a Republican but a pretty consistent voter with Democrats since the age of reason -- thought you were a decent and interestingly candid man. To see what you were saying today made all thought of the man you were evaporate. What can possibly be in it for you or anyone to defend Trump's defense of white nationalist hatred and bigotry.
It would be nice to see you step up again as a candid decent guy. Gods know this is a good time for it.
And you have the bully pulpit of Fox.

I don't know where to begin. In my lifetime I have never seen such hate for a president who wants so much to help all Americans. I pray every night and morning for him. He doesn't deserve any of this. But I have enough faith that all of this will turn around for him. He is going to be one of the greatest presidents if people will just open their eyes.

I am praying for our President and our country..... I so hope that the FBI and DOJ look at George Soros.... i bet that he hired and bussed in those Anti Alt Group.... hes got his fingers in tons of them to try and destroy this president.... I am ashamed of what happened there and also that it appears the police didnt step in to do anything..., Why let them get off busses looking like that carrying sticks? You would think they didnt want anything to happen or did they? Were they, the Mayor or Governor wanting trouble to try and cause more problems for this country and the presdient.... there are way to many things going on... I wish he could just fire half of the people up there that may not have hardly anyone in the white house... but at least he clean house..... I am ready for our borders to be secure,,,,,

The left wants to bash Trump(very unfairly) and bash the white nationalists( which they should). However, they want to praise the alt-left and call them patriots and say those people are just fighting for equality. WRONG! The hatred and the animosity that seethes in the heart of the alt-right is the same as the hatred coming from the left. Two sides of the same coin. Neither really cares about their ideals. They only want to fight. It only shows how fickle people are.
The rub comes with the dems and the liberal media, who use the fighting to bolster their own agenda. So which is the worst evil here?? Yes! There will always be those with hatred in their hearts. With racism. But it's seething in the hearts of many colors. And instead of doing what they should be doing, the media and dems have poured gasoline on the fire to produce an inferno of hatred and division for their own selfish gain. They are the ones who should be scrutinized for their despicable acts. Their social agenda has created a fire bomb of anger and resentment that has totally disrupted our nation. Only president Trump has tried to illuminate their despicable deeds and to turn the nation in the right direction. Only when people stop and realize this fact will it get better.
Then there are the republicans, who tuck tail and run for cover every time the water gets hot. They could show the crustations a thing or two about crawfishing. I wish they would muster the courage and do their jobs for a change. Eventually the PC ideology is going to take over the whole nation. What fools we must look like to the rest of the world. This is a sad day for the American people. Arguably the worst. How could so many become so narrow minded and blind. Everyone is covering their on tail and few if any are at the helm. At least the meager few who are are getting pounded for it. America, the fickle.

    Governor Huckabee,
It is unthinkable what is happening to President Trump. He and his family are maligned at every turn. This is not the America I know.
No one performs perfectly but according to the fake news, President Trump doesn't do anything right.
Thank you so much for your "real news" and support of our President.

On July 27th, A message from heaven was received at the 30 year old ecumenical ministry near Cleveland Ohio, www.holylove.org , which mentioned the USA has a righteoous leader. Also, "investigations devoid of purpose". On July 20th, God gives us the names of Kim's guardian angel, and also Trump`s guardian angel. Also noteworth, the posts just before and after the November elections, 2016. Please pass this information on to your daughter, so she can print them out for our beloved president, his wife, and children. Our president needs all the encouragement he can get amid all the daily attacks he receives from the media. Also, little Barrron needs to know that our God in heaven approves and supports his father. Praying the rosary daily for the unborn, and for the defeat of Saten and all his works, Patricia de la Tejera.

    Governor Huckabee,
The surprise for all the republicans may be Trump will be voted back in, but they won't! They should have learned not to believe poles! I am white, my husband is a Jew, and my grand kids are black. My husband and I are educated. We voted for Trump the 1st time and will do so again. We don't appreciate the republicans not working with our President. I watched what happened in Charlottesville. There were two sides fighting. People may not like one sides speech over the others but according to the constitution both have the right to say it without fear. The new morality of the left is, "if we don't like your thoughts, we have the right to harm you in any way we can with impunity!" They will be burning the constitution next. We don't need to destroy history. We need to learn from it.
Thank you and your daughter for standing up for our President and us, the real people who voted in Trump. The silent, unseen, don't make a scene supporters. sara

Governor Huckabee-I agree with you completely. I am disgusted today at reactions from the republican party against the President-he denounced all racism, I can't understand this "moral" outrage at what he said! I think it has become a party of reactionaries and cowards, believe it is time for a new party to emerge that will stand with the people and not self interests.

Thank you for all you do, Mike. Thank you for applying Biblical standards to today's headlines (even if you don't always say that's what you're doing). And thank you for your common sense. It seems like common sense is sorely missing in discussions and debates these days. God bless you, brother. Keep up the good work. Robert
