Good article by Dennis Prager on how a vote for the Democrats is a vote for mass hysteria. This dovetails with a suggestion I was going to make for the perfect Democratic midterm campaign slogan: “We’re hysterical! Let us drive!!”
Something in the water
There must be something in the water in San Francisco…or maybe all the drugs flushed down the toilets when the cops arrived during the 1960s have finally cleared out of the water. Either way, for some reason, the notoriously nutty 9th Circuit Court of Appeals has handed down two pro-Second Amendment decisions in one week, which must be a new record for that Court.
Last week, a three-judge panel of the Ninth Circuit backed a San Diego court’s injunction halting California’s new ban on ownership of magazines holding 10 bullets or more, which the NRA argued is unconstitutional. Now, a three-judge panel of the Ninth Circuit has affirmed that the Second Amendment protects the right of Americans to carry firearms in public for self-defense, striking down a ridiculous Hawaiian law that asserted citizens only have the right to bear arms inside their own homes.
Granted, these are only three-judge panels – and the rulings were 2-1, with the two judges who upheld the Second Amendment both being Republican appointees – but two out of three out of 14 judges is at least a start. The 9th has been on a bad acid trip for a long time; we can’t expect them to regain full sanity overnight.
What Lack of Self-Awareness Looks Like
Former CIA chief and known liar and leaker James Clapper, whose attempts to undo the 2016 election and regular unhinged anti-Trump rants recently reached a zenith when he accused the President of treason for holding a summit meeting with Vladimir Putin, declared that by looking into pulling his security clearance, Trump is being “petty” and “abusing the system.”
In a related story, a pot called a kettle a pot.
In Tuesday’s GOP runoff election for Governor in Georgia, Secretary of State Brian Kemp easily defeated Lieutenant Gov. Casey Cagle by 69-30%. It was another victory for a candidate endorsed by President Trump, but Kemp also racked up endorsements from a number of other Republicans, including every other candidate for Governor who lost in the general election.
Despite it being one of the more combative races of the season, Cagle congratulated Kemp, offered his support and urged his supporters to rally around Kemp in November, when he’ll be facing Democrat Stacey Abrams. She’s the first black female major party gubernatorial nominee ever, but she’s also a hardcore liberal. In 2016, Trump carried Georgia by about 5 points over Hillary Clinton, so Georgia Republicans will need to fire up their base and turn out to overcome Democratic enthusiasm and the identity politics vote.
Things That Make You Go “Hmm…”
A bunch of “Abolish ICE” radicals in Portland, Oregon, set up a camp/fortress that has clearly-defined borders that they enforce, along with rules people inside have to follow. I think maybe they should go abolish themselves.
For years now, liberals have been selectively editing interviews with conservatives to make them look stupid and calling it “satire.” But when a conservative site did a deliberately obvious shuffling of an interview with socialist “It” girl Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to poke a little fun at her, leftists were so “OUTRAGED,” they not only didn’t think it was funny, one didn’t even recognize it as satire and took to Twitter to expose it as being misleadingly edited. The responses were hilarious. My favorite: “Thank you, Captain Obvious!”
AG Sessions update
As long as we're doing a round-up of the latest fake news… Many mainstream news outlets reported that during a high school summit in DC, Attorney General Jeff Sessions joined in the crowd’s anti-Hillary Clinton chant of “Lock her up.” The video shows that he plainly did not.
An Odessa, Texas, waiter who got lots of supportive media coverage after claiming a customer wrote a racist message to him on a dinner check admitted it was a hoax and he wrote it himself.
And a bipartisan Senate report found that about half of the government’s public data on federal spending listed at the USAspending.gov website is inaccurate and “riddled with errors.”
So now, both the government and the media are feeding us “fake news.” I keep thinking of the Beatles song, “Everybody’s Got Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey.” But if you see the monkey on CNN, don’t believe him, either.
