Still more proof that Twitter and CNN are not real life, so stop treating them as if they are:

A survey by the American Enterprise Institute’s Survey Center of American Life found that most Americans don’t cut off their friends over political disagreements. In fact, most don’t even talk about politics to their friends.

https://hotair.com/john-s-2/2021/06/08/survey-progressives-are-twice-as-likely-as-conservatives-to-cut-off-friendships-over-politics-n395412

Only 21% say that they discuss politics at least a few times a week, while 55% talk politics less than a few times a month. That held true for both Democrats and Republicans. Both said party affiliation is not a prerequisite for being friends with someone; however, both are likely to have more friends who share the same party as they do.

Interestingly, 53% of Republicans say they have at least some friends who are Democrats, while only 32% of Democrats have friends who are Republicans. Only 15% of Americans have ever ended a friendship over political differences. But the further left you go, the more likely someone is to cut off a friend for having different political views. 28% of liberals have done that, compared to only 10% of conservatives. 33% of liberal women have done that. And the most intolerant of all are extreme liberals or “progressives.” 44% of these crusaders for tolerance have ended a friendship over political differences, making them exactly twice as intolerant as extreme conservatives (22%.)

This won’t come as a surprise to anyone who’s been paying attention recently to leftist media, social media or activists, all of whom live to gin up hatred and cancellation of anyone who disagrees with them by even a smidgeon. Someone needs to have a sincere talk with them about how they’re letting political extremism warp their priorities, narrow their minds and drive away their friends. Unfortunately, that would take someone who doesn’t agree with them on everything, and they no longer talk to anyone like that.

I don’t know what groups were polled, but hasn’t people learned from the past how skewed poll results are? We are inundated with political garbage every day and talk about it every day. And worry about the future our grandkids will have to endure. America is a mess and O’Biden has driven a stake to divide this country like no one else has ever done. We have looked at our friend list and have no democrat friends. For us it is a moral line we will not cross.

As a proud adoptive mother, I resent the use of the term “birthing people” just to keep the few rare transgender people who give birth happy. We outnumber them by the millions, I’m sure and on “Mothers Day” wish to celebrate the strong connections we have formed with our children. We may not have given birth to them, but we certainly are their loving mothers and the grandmothers of their children.

I really hope you read this Mike. My comment is not about the CNN article but is about voter ID laws requiring proof of identity. I think Homeland Security requires REAL ID. Oklahoma(my state) is now requiring REAL ID before October 1st. The list of requirements is staggering. Here is a copy of part of the instructions to obtain a REAL ID: Each document you provide:

Must contain the physical address where you reside and not a mailing address.
Must come from a verifiable business or government agency.
Cannot include any alterations such as erasures or information crossed out.
Cannot include a forwarding address sticker or label.

Select up to TWO of the documents listed below to take with you:

Oklahoma license, permit or identification card, expired no more than one year.
Any item delivered by the United States Postal Service, FedEx, or UPS sent by a verifiable business or government agency.
Utility hook up order or utility statement issued by the service provider.
Any document issued by a financial institution that includes your residence address.
Oklahoma vehicle title or registration card.
Rental/Lease Agreement that includes the original signature of the lessor or landlord.
Oklahoma voter notification card or voter profile report or Selective Service card.
Any document issued by an educational institution.
Any document issued by an insurance company or agent.
Paycheck, paystub, W-2 or 1099 tax form.
A U.S. government-issued marriage certificate or license signed by a government official.
A loan agreement, payment booklet/voucher, or load statement.
An Oklahoma Department of Consumer & Business Services (DCBS) issued manufactured structure ownership document.
    Medical or health benefits card.
Unexpired professional license issued by an agency in the U.S.
Current Certificate of Eligibility for Exchange Visitor (J-1) status (DS2019).
Letter from Department of Veterans Affairs Rehabilitation Center & Clinics certifying your address.
Letter on company letterhead from an employer certifying that you live at a non-business address owned by the business or corporation.
Any document DMV accepted as proof of legal presence which contains an address.
Any document accepted as proof of identity, such as an Oklahoma Concealed Weapon Permit/Concealed Handgun License which contains an address.
And to think that Democrats think it is too burdensome to show any form of ID to vote! What a laugh-their hypocrisy knows no limits!!

Interesting article. I live in Vancouver Washington. Many on the right won't talk about Christ or politics. Their echo chambers just as bad as the left.

My godchild/nephew stopped speaking to me the day Trump was elected and has not spoken to me since because I was so happy and surprised that he was elected. I am 85 and have sent him a birthday card every year. I think he is nuts. Our family always argued politics but never stopped speaking or loving each other. I still love and support President Trump and believe election was stolen. One of our greatest Presidents. Algorithm evidence overwhelming and I am very disappointed in our Supreme Court except for Judge Clarence Thomas. What is going on now as government is pure evil. God bless America.

My college roommate called me right after the lockdown started in March of 2020. She is an MSNBC devotee and big time Dem/liberal/educator. We began discussing the lockdown and I questioned the move since I knew so many people would be impacted financially for sure but now we know, in other ways. She became enraged...called me materialistic because I was putting people's livelihoods ahead of their health and indicated she could no longer talk to me anymore...and we haven't in well over a year. She is a perfect example of a liberal ending a friendship over politics. As I age, I realize it's sometimes better to leave well enough alone. I will not initiate communication. Sad commentary and I would appreciate anonymity. I struggle with the gaslighting the main stream media is doing to too many Americans. But I thank you for your honesty and compassion. I admire your Christian devotion and beliefs. Thank you.

I’m not a fan of Twitter, but one day a woman was bashing Trump and calling all us white Americans racist just because we are born white. I let her know in no uncertain terms what I thought of her and her comments. I was immediately banned by Twitter. That’s what I was expecting, maybe even hoping for. I haven’t lost any sleep over it!
