Today's Commentary --- Judge Kavanaugh update: the real and the fake -- Leftist virtue-signaling and antisemitism at the University of Michigan -- Huck PAC supports conservatives --John Kerry and the Logan Act -- Time magazine purchased -- Reminder -- Evening Edition - Daily Verse

If the letter from Kavanaugh’s accuser had been made public, say, in July, when Sen. Dianne Feinstein actually received it, we wouldn’t have to quickly try to make sense of the crazed rush of stories about it RIGHT NOW, before the committee vote scheduled for just a few days away.  This calculated delay –- we know that’s what it was –- practically ensures there will be so much fake news, we won’t know what to think about it all and will therefore just have to delay the Senate vote.

But first, the real news:  Now that the accuser has identified herself, Kavanaugh has released a statement that reads, “This is a completely false allegation.  I have never done anything like what the accuser describes --- to her or to anyone.  Because this never happened, I had no idea who was making this accusation until she identified herself yesterday.  I am willing to talk to the Senate Judiciary Committee in any way the Committee deems appropriate to refute this false allegation from 36 years ago, and defend my integrity.”

Leftist virtue-signaling and antisemitism at the University of Michigan

By Mike Huckabee

Bill Maher likes to say that there’s only one prejudice that it’s still okay to practice, and that’s ageism.  But that’s not exactly true.  If you are a leftist, it’s okay to hate and denigrate all sorts of demographic groups as long as they don’t hew precisely to your own narrow-minded set of beliefs.  If you’re a blue-collar Trump voter, it’s okay for them to call you a smelly deplorable or (in the words of Brett Kavanaugh’s accuser’s lawyer) a “miscreant.”  If you’re a black Trump supporter, it’s okay to call you a traitor to your race and smear you with the foulest racist stereotypes.

And of course, the one prejudice that’s perfectly acceptable on the left these days is antisemitism.  The left seems to have adopted musical satirist Tom Lehrer’s sarcastic lyric, “Everybody hates the Jews,” as a personal creed, which is especially ironic coming from people who claim to hate Nazis and fight fascists, yet they support Middle Eastern factions whose beliefs are perfectly in line with those expressed by Adolf Hitler in “Mein Kampf.” (If you think I’m exaggerating, a survey in the late ‘90s found than an Arabic translation of that book was the sixth-biggest bestseller in Palestine.)

Huck PAC supports conservatives

By Mike Huckabee

Thanks to the generosity of thousands of grassroots supporters, Huck PAC donated $74,500 to conservatives running for elected office last week.  The list includes: Marsha Blackburn, Ted Cruz, Josh Hawley, French Hill, Leslie Rutledge and many more.

You can expect another round of endorsements and donations from Huck PAC very soon.

John Kerry and the Logan Act

By Mike Huckabee

It looks as if my observation that John Kerry might have finally provided us with the first prosecutable violation of the Logan Act in over 200 years has caught some people’s fancy and sparked debate. Good!  It’s been instructive to see how many Democrats who wanted to jail Trump officials for violating the Logan Act just for talking at cocktail parties to people from a country we aren’t at war with (Russia) see nothing wrong with Kerry secretly conducting diplomacy with Iran, a hostile foreign nation that supports terrorism (that thing we’re at war with), without official standing in a deliberate attempt to undermine the policies of the elected US government (i.e., “the Logan Act.”)

My comments were just an observation; I don’t really expect Kerry to be charged, because as we learned with Hillary Clinton, federal laws protecting national security don’t apply to failed Democratic presidential candidates.  But I’d love to see the Justice Department take a (for once) serious look at whether he should be charged with violating federal laws.  Oh, look: maybe they actually will!

Time magazine purchased

By Mike Huckabee

Yet another failing dead-tree publication has been purchased by a deep pockets Internet tycoon.  This time, it’s Time magazine.  The venerable news weekly (Holy cow, remember when people got their news in weekly installments?!  That now seems like waiting for dispatches to arrive by sailing ship from the New World!) was purchased for $190 million by Mark Benioff, co-founder of the cloud-based sales and marketing service Salesforce, and his wife.

If $190 million seems like a bargain basement price for a publication that’s been world famous for nearly a century, consider this: for that same amount, he could have bought Newsweek 190 million times over.

Reminder: Tonight at 8 p.m. EST, the Western Journal is hosting a free online premiere of “Trump @ War,” the new movie from the makers of the Internet sensation, “Clinton Cash.”  It chronicles the all-out media war against the Trump Administration (warning: there is graphic language, and not just in Google executive meetings.)  Details on how to obtain your invite code to see the film are at the link, and you might want to share this with any friends who’d like ammunition to fire back when they are attacked by leftist acquaintances for not joining in the 24/7 Trump-bashing that popular culture seems to demand of everyone these days.

A wrap-up of all the news you might have missed yesterday!

Daily Verse

"Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment."

"If the letter from Kavanaugh’s accuser had been made public, say, in July, when Sen. Dianne Feinstein actually received it, "
Agreed! This is pure politics. Regardless of who is victorious the losers will be the american taxpayer.
