Rep. Ilhan Omar and her defenders are trying to spin criticism of her offensive comments about Jews, Israel or 9/11 as anti-Muslim hate speech. However, I wrote when Omar made her “some people did something” comment about 9/11 that it was an insult not only to the victims, their families and all Americans, but also to Muslims who were also victims of the attack, first responders and members of the US military.
So maybe the best way to respond to the transparent tactic of playing victim to dodge well-deserved criticism is to stand aside and let this woman do it. Dr. Qanta Ahmed is a Muslim doctor in New York City who still treats people suffering from the after-effects of 9/11. She wrote an op-ed that pulls no punches about what she thinks of Rep. Omar’s comments and her attempts to deflect criticism by hiding behind her religion. “Disgrace to Islam” is one of her milder phrases.

Poor Chris Wallace also made the mistake of trying to run the Democratic line about criticism of Omar being tantamount to inciting violence past my daughter Sarah. Hope he was able to reattach his head after she handed it to him.

In a lighter tone, Jim Treacher of PJ Media attempted to untangle the Democrats’ frantic spinning over Ilhan Omar’s controversial comments that’s tied them up in logical and semantic knots. They’re now arguing that criticizing her is the same as inciting violence against her, and inciting violence is bad, unless you’re inciting violence against people on the right, which is good because they’re white supremacists who have it coming, like former KKK wizard David Duke, who recently expressed his support for…Ilhan Omar.

Hawaiian Sen. Mazie “To heck with due process” Hirono trotted out one of the most worn-out deflection tactics of the pro-abortion lobby to justify the Democrats’ opposition to the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, a bill that would essentially ban abortion after 20 weeks. Hirono dismissed the killing of children in the womb by attacking Republican policies such as getting rid of Obamacare:
“I hope that supporters of the bills we’re talking about today, both in the states and in Congress, turn their efforts to improving the lives of children who are very much here already and who are so poorly served by the Trump administration and its policies.”
As National Review pointed out, citing her exclusive concern for babies who are “here already” was a staggering bit of hypocrisy, considering she and her fellow Democrats also blocked the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Act, which merely required giving medical care to babies who were born alive during an abortion. New flash, Sen. Hirono: “Born alive” means they are “HERE ALREADY!”
Of course, if she and other abortion defenders would be honest with themselves, they would admit that a baby in the womb at 20 weeks – a baby that can feel pain, suck its thumb, hear its mother’s heartbeat and music outside the womb, and even taste the foods its mother eats – that baby is also “here already.”

You might want to mark down this date in the history books for what I’m about to say: I couldn’t agree more with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
Let me be specific on what I mean. She’s obviously trying to tamp down the perception that a handful of young leftist radicals with no filters on their mouths are taking over the Democratic Party (which isn’t easy when the media fawn over them like movie stars and amplify their every brain dropping.) Sunday on “Sixty Minutes,” Pelosi downplayed them as a faction of only “like five people.”
Then on Monday in London, she said the Democrats can only increase their hold on Congress by winning swing districts, not districts like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s in The Bronx or hers in San Francisco, where “a glass of water” with a “D” next to its name on the ballot would win.
It was diplomatic of her to toss in praise for AOC as “a wonderful member of Congress” and include her district to try to soften the knife blow. But it’s pretty obvious what she really thinks. And for once, I agree with her. A glass of water with a "D" by its name could win in both of their districts.
In fact, I would love to run an experiment to see what else with a “D” next to its name could win in those districts. A ham sandwich (or maybe in those districts, a tofurkey and kale sandwich?) A flatulent cow? A potted plant? The real question is, could they win the nomination if they posed a primary challenge to AOC? Polls seem to be trending that way. If that happens, my money’s on the potted plant to win any debates.

In a rising atmosphere of persecution of Christians by the Chinese communist government, Chu and eight other activists were convicted of the “crime” of “conspiracy to commit public nuisance” related to their work with pro-democracy Occupy Central and Umbrella Movement protests.
Facing up to seven years in prison, the 75-year-old Chu could have tried to curry favor with the judge and Beijing by backing down from his commitment to Jesus Christ, human rights and dignity for all people. But he refuses to be “lukewarm” for Christ. Instead, he gave a ringing statement (some say a sermon) to the court on democracy, freedom, love, faith and the God-given rights of individuals that cannot be taken away by any political regime. It’s already been translated into English, printed in the Hong Kong Free Press, and is inspiring other believers. In case you missed last weekend’s episode of “Huckabee” on TBN (and why would you ever do that, especially when you can watch it online at https://www.tbn.org/huckabee ), I used my monologue to address a recent flurry of criticism against me from leftist and LGBTQ sites. This article has more background on what that was about, how my words were misconstrued and mischaracterized, and how I responded.
Anyone who reads my daily commentaries could tell you that I have made it clear again and again that holding traditional religious beliefs and refusing to endorse a particular lifestyle that you believe is sinful (whether it involves sexuality, divorce, abortion or whatever) does not mean you “hate” people who disagree with you. Christians believe that you must love your neighbor, which means that hating people is also a sin. I don’t know why this is so hard for some to grasp, since, unlike the ever-changing standards of secular society, the Christian belief in hating the sin but loving the sinner has remained unchanged for 2,000 years.
I don't hate anyone and never have. But I don't believe anyone will ever find happiness or fulfillment by demanding that God conform to their standards rather than that they obey His.

Seth Meyers announced that his late night NBC show will expand to 90 minutes on Thursday to do a “deep dive” into analyzing the Mueller Report and putting it in “context,” and that his guest will be Democratic Presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg. So good news: if you think a late night comedian is qualified to analyze a 400-page legal investigative report in a matter of hours, then you probably also think the mayor of South Bend is qualified to be President, so set your DVRs, this is the show for you!

On behalf of myself and my staff, I wish to extend our sympathies and prayers to the people of France and to Catholics worldwide after the devastating fire that ravaged the 850-year-old Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris yesterday. It’s said that if the Eiffel Tower is the symbol of Paris, Notre Dame is France, representing its faith, culture and history. Shocked bystanders watched as firefighters fought the blaze, praying and singing hymns as the famous 300-foot-tall Gothic spire that was once the tallest structure in Paris collapsed and fell. It’s suspected that the blaze started due to chemicals from an ongoing restoration project, but that’s not yet officially determined.
This story from the Daily Mail probably features the most photos, videos, history and information of any I’ve found.
But with the sunrise in Paris came some hopeful news. One firefighter was badly injured, but there were no fatalities. While the Cathedral suffered massive damage, particularly to the roof, much of the building appears to have miraculously survived. The Paris fire chief said “the worst had been avoided” and “we can consider that the main structure of Notre Dame has been saved and preserved,” as well as the two towers. Many of the statues had already been removed prior to the restoration work, and people formed human chains to remove priceless artworks and religious relics. And as sad as the loss of the famous spire is, it was added in the 1860s and wasn’t an original part of the Cathedral.
Experts had warned for years that the Cathedral was badly in need of restoration, but the government was reluctant to allocate the money, offering only about a fourth of the $170 million estimate. Private donors were being sought to try to make up the difference. But to quote the great philosopher Joni Mitchell, “You don’t know what you’ve got ‘till it’s gone.” President Macron announced a fund drive to hire the best talents to rebuild and restore the Cathedral, and French billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault (husband of actress Salma Hayek) pledged 100 million euros (about $113 million) to kick it off. Fellow billionaire Bernard Arnault, owner of the luxury goods group LVMH (Moet, Louis Vuitton, etc.), then pledged $226 million. Darn those evil billionaires.
It’s a terrible loss, but maybe having to rebuild it will serve as a painful reminder of the importance of the culture, history and religious faith that it stands for and that too many people in recent years have forgotten or turned their backs on. It’s also a reminder that as beautiful, important and historic as a building may be, it is still only stones and wood, and subject to the elements.
Let us never forget that what the Cathedral stands for is eternal and can never be destroyed by fire, wind or flood. That is faith in Jesus Christ, who “continues forever, holds His priesthood permanently” (Hebrews 7:24), is “with you always, even unto the end of the world” (Matthew 28:20), and “is the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8.)

Since you likely watch our show, I suppose I need to warn you that according to some recent news articles, you are watching a show hosted by a hateful bigot. And that was about the nicest things said about me.
I recently spoke at the National Religious Broadcasters meeting in Anaheim, CA and was interviewed by the Christian Post. They asked me what did I believe was the biggest threat facing our culture. I replied that it was the abandonment of the Biblical standards of the family. The view that there is no such thing as maleness or femaleness anymore. That marriage doesn’t really matter so therefore divorce is no big deal and any form of marriage is equally valid—not just between a male and female. That fathers aren’t that important to the development of a child. That gender is fluid and we can just choose a gender based on how we feel rather than how we were created. And that the Bible is an old book that no longer represents our changing culture and it often fails to be on the “right side of history.”
Since that article, virtually every left-wing publication in the country has blasted me for what they called homophobic and anti-LGBTQ hate. Most fail to point out that I said virtually NOTHING about LGBTQ anything. My main point was the reason for so much cultural confusion and moral decadence was the Christian church. Too many modern churches have decided to preach a gospel that doesn’t offend anyone by basically saying “do whatever you feel good about. “ We have ignored or dismissed Biblical standards so we can be modern, relevant, in-touch, hip, and relatable. Surely God would never want us to hurt someone’s feelings or disagree with THEIR beliefs. I certainly don’t think God wants us to be obnoxious, judgmental, hateful, or self-righteous, but without apology I believe God has created a standard and we need to challenge our culture to tune itself to God’s truth rather than to demand God tune Himself to “my truth” and our culture. Before I can play a piece of music, I must first tune the instrument to the musical standard. Whether the standard is a tuning fork, a well-tuned piano, or an electronic tuning device, even the most virtuoso musician will only make noise if his/her instrument isn’t tuned to the fixed, absolute notes of the musical scale.
I didn’t make the rules. If there is indeed a God and I believe there is, then He creates the rules since He created the game. My job as a human is not to persuade Him to agree to MY behavior or standards, but to change my behavior to HIS standards. I don’t hate anyone, but I refuse to ignore or deny God’s law or natural law. If I fail to tune my life to those standards, how can I hope to make music of my life? When every instrument in the band plays according to its own standard of tuning, the result is chaos and noise. The instruments are not the same in tone or volume, or sound, but they join together to make music only if they agree on the tuning device. You are free to live the life you wish to live, but you are not free to tune your life to what YOU feel, believe or think instead of a standard of God and end up with a result that is beautiful.
If that makes me a hateful bigot, then it’s because those who label me that are tuned to a different standard. With no apology, I’ll do my best to tune my life and beliefs to God’s unchanging standard rather than ask Him to re-write the Bible and tune His standards to me.
