A convenient thread
Hat Tip to Greg Price for creating a convenient Twitter thread enumerating the dangerous, radical, extreme, fascist MAGA agenda. See which part you think is the biggest threat to “our democracy.”
Is it “secure borders”? “Better trade deals that put America’s best interests first”? “Bringing manufacturing jobs back to the US?” “Fair elections?” “Stopping endless wars”? “Saving babies”? “Energy independence?” “Jailing criminals?” “Stopping the genital mutilation of children”?
Whoa, it’s all so horrifying! I’d better stop before I give myself nightmares!
I mentioned recently a bizarre story about podcaster and Proud Boys co-founder Gavin McInnes apparently being arrested live in mid-podcast. But I said at the time that nobody was able to confirm whether it was real or a hoax. There’s been no further information since, which is suspicious in itself. Now, someone who knows McInnes claims that he privately admitted it was a hoax. The source isn’t exactly reliable, but he did provide screenshots of alleged text messages from McInnes confirming it, for what that’s worth. Here are details, but I’d suggest you take anything involving this story with a pillar of salt that makes Lot’s wife look like a single grain.
Biden talks out of both sides of his mouth
Someone at the White House must’ve looked at the instant poll reaction to President Biden’s horrifying speech and turned as red as his backdrop because in less than 24 hours, Biden was already denying that he said what he stood in front of the world and repeated for half an hour.
In his speech, Biden said, "There’s no question that the Republican Party today is dominated, driven and intimidated by Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans. And that is a threat to this country." And Trump and MAGA Republicans “represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our Republic” (at least he finally got it right that we’re a republic, not a democracy.) He had also tweeted that Trump and "MAGA Republicans" are "a threat to the very soul of this country."
Yet the very next afternoon, when Fox News’ Peter Doocey asked if he really thinks Trump supporters are a threat to America, this was his response:
"You keep trying to make that case. I don't consider any Trump supporters a threat to the country. I do think anyone who calls for the use of violence, refuses to acknowledge an election…changing the way you count votes, that is a threat to democracy."
Instapundit’s Ed Driscoll had the most charitable response: Maybe he just forgot he said that.
Incidentally, for the record, every Republican I know, including me, strongly condemned the January 6th violence. The difference between us and the Democrats is that we also condemned the 570+ other violent riots that their side threw. And they are the ones who keep trying to change election laws to benefit their side – see this week’s Alaska House election where a Democrat who actually got only about 40% of the vote took over a seat Republicans have held for 49 years. As for refusing to accept the results of elections, I’ll direct you again to this 10-minute video of Democrats, including him, refusing to accept the results of elections Republicans won:
Former President Trump has responded to President Biden’s train wreck of a speech. It was surprisingly restrained and statesmanlike for Trump, although the phrase “insane or suffering from late stage dementia” does make an understandable appearance.
CNN sends Harwood packing
CNN’s new bosses might be serious about turning it into an actual news network. The latest JINO (“Journalist In Name Only”) and Democrat mouthpiece to be told to hit the bricks is John Harwood. Instapundit compiled a few of Harwood’s career lowlights to show why his departure will not be mourned by fans of objective news reporting.
Bonus: That starts out with a link to this story, which proves how much work CNN’s new owners have in front of them when it comes to housetraining the DNC’s out of control pet network:
Apparently, someone there thought that electronically altering President Biden’s blood-red background to look pink would help improve the visual impact of his chilling speech. In a way, they’re right: today’s Democrats really have moved so far to the left that depicting them as merely “pinko’s” is a kindly understatement.
I JUST WANTED TO SAY:
