On Wednesday night’s “Ingraham Angle,” there was a magnificent discussion about the sham Trump investigation with Rudy Giuliani, Joe diGenova and former Whitewater independent counsel Robert Ray that absolutely must not be missed, and I say that not because I was subbing for Laura Ingraham at the time.

After being on defense –- with his hands legally tied –- for the first two years of his Presidency, President Trump is finally able to go on offense, as he can no longer be accused of “interfering with the Russia investigation.” But something else is afoot as well, according to deGenova, and here is the tremendous breaking news: The FISA court has been looking into abuses of the FISA system and has communicated with the Justice Department about its findings. Their chief judge has already determined that for more than four years before the election of Donald Trump, there was an illegal spying operation (yes, SPYING –- and, yes, ILLEGAL) going on by four FBI contractors to break the law to steal personal electronic information about American citizens and to use it against the Republican Party.

It might be good to go back and read that last sentence again, slowly, and let it sink in.

With gratitude,

Mike Huckabee

A developing story out of California

By Mike Huckabee

Wednesday in Sunnyvale, California, a man plowed into a crowd of pedestrians at a crosswalk and injured eight people.  He drove on until he hit a tree at high speed. Police say he expressed no remorse and indicated that it was intentional. The FBI is assisting in the investigation, although early indications are that it was not a terrorist attack but likely a psychiatric issue.  The driver was identified as a 34-year-old Iraq war veteran who has suffered from PTSD.

This is a developing story, so keep watch on the news for more details.  In the meantime, please keep the victims in your prayers.

"1,000 Houses"

By Mike Huckabee

When someone asks to be promoted from mayor of the fourth-largest city in Indiana to President of the United States, you’d think the media would at least check to see how well he’s running the town.  Instead, we’ve been subjected to endless puff pieces about Pete Buttigieg’s glibness, his attacks on Mike Pence’s religious beliefs, his same-sex marriage, his coolness factor compared to “Beto,” the Hollywood gay A-listers planning a big bucks fundraiser for him, and now, his proposal for a “pathway to citizenship” for all 11 million illegal immigrants in the US.

Well, I hate to spoil the party, but I think voters still might want to know, “How are things in South Bend?”  Turns out some residents don’t think their mayor deserves the mother of all promotions.

For instance, there was an initiative called “1,000 Houses” that was supposed to improve economic conditions in poor neighborhoods by demolishing 1,000 vacant houses.  Well, the demolishing was accomplished, but now the neighborhoods are blighted by vacant lots, some with toxic substances such as asbestos. The vacant lots are growing weeds and attracting trash dumpers, crime and pest animals such as raccoons.

There’s more about it at this link, but if you want a more positive spin, I’m sure the mainstream media outlets are already working on a puff piece about the great things Mayor Pete is doing to help South Bend’s raccoon population.

Harris changes her mind

By Mike Huckabee

That was fast: upon 24 hours’ reflection (and a lot of outraged public response), Democratic Presidential hopeful Sen. Kamala Harris decided that maybe she’s not so keen after all on fellow Democratic Presidential hopeful Sen. Bernie Sanders’ proposal to let imprisoned terrorists like the Boston Marathon bomber vote.

On a side note, can we all just agree that when I refer to any Democrat, it should be assumed that he or she is a “Democratic Presidential hopeful”?  That will save me an awful lot of typing.

Fighting Nazis

By Mike Huckabee

Glad to see more people picking up and enlarging on an argument I made when it was first reported that the New York Yankees had banned Kate Smith’s iconic recording of “God Bless America” because some social justice warrior types just discovered that she recorded a couple of songs in the 1930s that are considered offensively racist now. I noted that the Yankees should immediately shut down because they banned black players until 1955, which was far worse and more recent.  Now, that idea is getting around.  They should learn not to kowtow to the SJW mob, because nobody is ever pure enough for them, no past transgression is ever forgotten, and they will eventually turn and devour you, too.

For those who actually care about history, Smith recorded nearly 3,000 songs, and it’s questionable how much control she had over what she was expected to sing, especially that early in her career.  We do know that when she did have control, during a time when it was scandalous for white singers, especially female, to perform with black musicians, she welcomed many great black musicians onto her radio and TV shows of the ‘40s and ’50s.  At this link, Mark Steyn discusses one of the two songs that’s been hauled out of 80-year-old mothballs to incite “OUTRAGE” and notes that it was actually written as a disapproving satire of racist attitudes in the South.

Since that first mention here, the Philadelphia Flyers have also turned against Kate Smith, not only banning her recording of "God Bless America," but covering a statue of her with a burqa-like black tarp, then removing it.  This despite the fact that Smith’s song had been a good luck charm, and she had been gracious enough to them to sing the National Anthem in person before their Stanley Cup win in 1974.

By the way, while the Flyers have never explicitly banned black players, they are a hockey franchise, and in their 52-year history, they have employed a grand total of six black players.

As long as we’re turning Kate Smith into a non-person for violating 2019 PC standards in 1931, why don’t we also talk about the prejudices she suffered that we would never tolerate today?  For instance, at 5’10” and 235 pounds, she was not acclaimed as a body-positive, “big beautiful woman.”  Instead, she was the object of endless cruel jokes about her size.  She smiled and played along, but friends recalled her crying in her dressing room after nearly every performance because the mockery hurt her so much.  Even the headline of her New York Times obituary referred to her as “outsized.”  Did any of the PC moralists in Philadelphia think about that when covering her statue with a tarp and removing it because they don’t think her image is fit for the public to see?

During World War II, Kate Smith helped defeat real Nazis by working tirelessly to aid the war effort, helping to sell nearly $600 million in war bonds, far more than any other celebrity.  That’s over $10 billion in today’s money.  The “social justice warriors” who attack her think they’re fighting “Nazis” when they put on masks and punch elderly men in MAGA caps.

And while we’re on the subject, just what did the Philadelphia Flyers ever do to fight Nazis?  Yes, I know the team was founded in 1967.  But if we’re going to crucify Kate Smith for not living up to standards that weren’t even invented until 80 years later, I don’t see why we can’t demand that the people attacking her live up to the standards that applied 25 years before they came on the scene.

Project Veritas triumphs in Court

By Mike Huckabee

Every time there is an undercover video exposing the truth about Planned Parenthood or some other liberal organization, the subjects of the expose howl that it’s “deceptively edited” to mislead people into thinking they said something they never said – even when the unedited video is made available to prove that it’s true. The media usually ignore the video evidence and trumpet the denial as true.  James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas gets a lot of this type of treatment.

But when the President of the Wichita Teachers Union sued Project Veritas for defamation, claiming a video of him making profane and threatening comments about how he treats students was deceptively edited, the group refused to settle.  Instead, they went to court. After nearly three years and $350,000 in legal fees, a Florida judge threw out the case, ruling that any edits did not materially change what the plaintiff said, it was not illegal to record the comments, and the statements the plaintiff claimed were defamatory were merely recitations of his own admitted statements and actions.

The mainstream media likely won’t even acknowledge Project Veritas’ triumph in court, but if they weren’t so politicized, they would be thanking them for defending the First Amendment and the right of undercover reporters to expose the truth without fear of civil or criminal penalties.

As for the plaintiffs in these cases, if they are truly worried that their reputations will be destroyed by the public learning what they actually do and say behind closed doors, instead of suing the reporters, maybe they should stop doing and staying those things.

Quotes from our Presidents

"While men inhabiting different parts of this vast continent cannot be expected to hold the same opinions, they can unite in a common objective and sustain common principles."

Babylon Bee

By Mike Huckabee

I hope by now that you’re checking out the Babylon Bee every day for topical comedy that’s actually funny, something the late night shows largely gave up on in 2016.  There are several great stories today, with this headline being a favorite (but read the whole thing -- and note to this is satire! You don’t need to “fact-check” it!)

“Ocasio-Cortez Calls for Boycott of ‘Sesame Street’ After Discovering Show is Sponsored by Numbers.”

I sincerely hope that the growing popularity of the Babylon Bee is a signal that this Bee story really is true:

“New Poll Reveals Americans Strongly In Favor of Legalizing Comedy.”

Must-Read Column

By Mike Huckabee

Neil Steinberg of the Chicago Sun-Times offers a wickedly funny eulogy for Rahm Emmanuel’s term as Mayor of Chicago. He definitely comes to bury Rahm, not to praise him.  Pray that you never have a funeral eulogy that involves comparisons of your accomplishments to a proctology exam and a slug’s slime trail.
