A heartfelt thanks to reader Shannon for this response to my “20 questions for James Comey.”  Not only do we get a view from inside the FBI, but we’re also directed to some MUST-READ material, especially the letter to Judge Emmet Sullivan from Robyn Gritz (link below).

NY AG vows to target Trump and his family

By Mike Huckabee

This post from Conservative Treehouse sums up my thoughts pretty well about newly-elected New York Attorney General Letitia James declaring that she plans to target President Trump, his businesses, his associates and his family members for multiple investigations.

After years of Democrats denying that the Obama Administration oversaw the corruption, politicization and weaponization of what should be nonpartisan government offices (remember the absurd defense of the IRS’s “fairness;” that it had also targeted a few liberal nonprofits among its all-out assault on Tea Party groups?), the mask is finally off.  The blatant abuse of government power to intimidate and persecute political opponents is no longer hidden or denied, it’s announced to the world on live TV as leftist supporters lustily cheer the death of the rule of law and due process rights – but only for the other side.

In America, investigations are supposed to be launched only after there is compelling evidence that a crime has been committed.  Unless you’re Robert Mueller, prosecutors don’t get handed an unlimited budget, a stack of blank warrants and subpoenas, and an open-ended mandate to “dig until you find something.”  The fact is, America has so many laws that we all break a few before breakfast without even realizing it.  If we allowed authorities to investigate everyone until they found a crime, any crime, we’d all be in prison (the only good news is, that would also include those prosecutors.)

Of course, if by some miracle, they couldn’t find a crime, then they could always set a perjury trap by getting someone to say he didn’t remember saying something they secretly taped him saying.

At the link, Mark Levin warns Republicans that they’d better wake up to the threat from liberal “lawfare” and rogue prosecutors like Ms. James, who is already vowing to open at least five areas of investigations into Trump and everyone associated with him before she’s even taken office or seen any information or evidence of wrongdoing.

You know, if New York has no actual, verified crimes already awaiting investigation, then it sure has changed since the last time I was there.

Russian influence

By Mike Huckabee

A new report shows that Russia was very busy in trying to influence the voters in the 2016 election via social media. According to researchers, over the course of the 2016 campaign season, Russian meddlers created memes (photos with captions saying things such as “Hillary Clinton is the worst presidential candidate in history!”) and social media posts that reached 126 million people on Facebook, posted 10.4 million tweets on Twitter, uploaded over 1,000 videos to YouTube, and reached over 20 million users on Instagram.

No doubt this is will be more ammunition for the Democrats and the media (but I repeat myself) to claim that Russia stole the election from Hillary by brainwashing Americans.  But allow me to add a little perspective. Those numbers sound staggering when you look at them by themselves.  But consider this:

Facebook users post an average of 350 million photos per day, and generate 4 million “likes” every minute of every day.  An hour’s worth of video is added to YouTube every second.  About 500 million tweets are sent on Twitter every day, which is around 6,000 per second.  That means those 10.4 million Russian tweets work out to only about 28 minutes’ worth of Twitter traffic over the course of the entire campaign. Thinking that could have a serious effect on a US national election is like Russia believing it could kill everyone in Chicago by pouring an entire pint of poison into Lake Michigan.

That’s beside the fact that there’s no proof any of those tweets, posts or memes changed a single vote.  Anyone who saw that meme about Hillary and “liked” it probably did so because they already agreed with it, not because they planned to vote for her until a meme changed their mind.

Don’t get me wrong: I don’t want Russia or any other nation trying to interfere with our elections, and the social media companies should be held to account to police this.  But in terms of effectiveness, I don’t believe that all of Russia’s tweeting and Facebook posting had anywhere near the success at undermining confidence in the American electoral system that the sore loserdom and lame excuses of Hillary and the Democrats have had.

Miracles really still do happen

By Mike Huckabee

Continuing my efforts to bring you some good news to counteract all the gloom-and-doom the media are promoting to try to ruin your Christmas, here’s proof that miracles really do still happen:

Last June, 11-year-old Roxli Doss of Hays County, Texas, was diagnosed with diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma, or DIPG. It’s an inoperable brain tumor that’s very rare, but when it happens, it’s usually devastating.  Roxli underwent weeks of radiation, while her parents prayed to God for a miracle.

And…it looks as if He gave them one.  Her doctor said her MRI scan is “actually unbelievable.”  The tumor is now “undetectable.”  In other words, it’s simply vanished.  Roxli is continuing to undergo immunotherapy, but she’s already back to her old self and enjoying her favorite activity, horseback riding.  Her mom said, “It’s kind of our family thing that God healed Roxli.”

For those who refuse to believe that God played a hand in her recovery, despite the fact that the radiation was so unusually successful and her recovery so swift that it stunned and baffled even her doctors, then I will simply say this:

“Thank you, Lord, for blessing that little girl with such terrific and humble doctors.”

Perfect response

By Mike Huckabee

You know you’re blessed to be living in the best of times when the biggest thing you can find to complain about is the 70-plus-year-old song, “Baby, It’s Cold Outside.”  There have been a lot of responses to the recent silly “controversy” over this tune, but the final word may have come from a Kentucky radio station that honored its listeners’ overwhelming rejection of the PC censors by playing “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” non-stop in a two-hour marathon.  That made the point, although it might have been a case of “Be careful what you wish for.” After the first hour or so, I might have left the studio, no matter how cold it was outside.

Still, I commend the station for standing up to the leftist Twitter mobs. I think a lot of people are tired of the generation that made stars out of rappers who glorify rape and murder lecturing us that “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” is too offensive to play on the radio.

Best gift book of Christmas

By Mike Huckabee

Here’s a scary sign for the health of the publishing industry, and for literacy in general: Barnes and Noble released its annual list of the 20 best holiday gift ideas.  It includes mittens, a Buddha board, Mickey Mouse speakers, several kinds of socks…and only one book.

Even worse, it suggests that the people at Barnes & Noble don’t even know what the best gift book of Christmas 2018 really is:

Thank you for the story on the little girl in TX. It brings some good news from all that is going on yes baby it is cold out side, so sad to see people reacting to such small things in our government. I feel hurt over Gen. Flynn keeping secrets from the so call Mueller investigation to protect this nation like he always did. I pray that this nation could come together for the NATION not for their political stand. This cold shoulder to each other. GOD BLESS AMERICA of old and new.

In the matter of Russia trying to influence our election, would someone please explain why Russia could have gained by causing Hillary to loose the election. They already had Hillary in their pocket, she sold them American Uranium, gave money to Clinton Foundation, paid Bill $500,000 for a 30-minute speech. Trump would have been an unknown while the Clinton's could be counted on to do practically anything for money and power. What could have been the advantage for the Russians to trash Hillary? Just follow the money.
