Michael Update
At the link is an update on the latest toll of deaths and property devastation from Hurricane Michael. Many people are still missing, hopefully just unable to reach their families due to the widespread power outages. I hope you’ll join me in praying for their safety and their swift reuniting with their loved ones. In the meantime, those who aid the victims of storms are on the scene and need all the help they can get. You can donate at www.redcross.org or at https://www.samaritanspurse.org. The great people at Samaritan’s Purse could also use any volunteers who’d like to help. If you have some time that you could take off to come join the effort, you can learn how at their website.
Here’s what “MAGA: Make America Great Again” really means:
The government just announced that on August 31st, the number of job openings in the US hit an all-time record of 7.136 million. That shattered the previous record for job openings, which had been set in July. Also in August, a record 5.78 million Americans were hired. And more Americans quit their jobs in August, which is a good sign because it means they felt confident of being able to find a better job or already had one lined up.
In three weeks, you have a choice: you can continue on the MAGA path of good jobs and rising income, or you can opt to return to the Democrats’ economic leadership that you suffered through for the previous eight years. Think of that as “MAJA: Make America Jobless Again.” The decision is yours.

"Gosnell" Update
The new film “Gosnell: The Trial of America’s Biggest Serial Killer” earned a strong $1.2 million in its opening weekend, or over $1700 per showing. That was good enough to earn it 12th place on the box office chart, which is amazing considering it was on only 673 screens (fewer than 1/6th as many as the #1 movie “Venom”), and the Hollywood studios, the media and social media sites did everything humanly possible to prevent it from being made, finding theaters or even letting the public know it existed.
This is a must-see film. It’s not one-sided pro-life propaganda, but a gripping police procedural that’s also painstakingly accurate to what really happened in the arrest and trial of the Philadelphia abortionist whose filthy, house of horrors clinic killed countless babies and even adult patients. The cast, lead by Dean Cain, Sarah Jane Morris, Nick Searcy, Cyrina Fiallo and AlonZo Rachel, is first-rate, and Earl Billings as Dr. Kermit Gosnell is so eerily perfect that you’d swear Gosnell was playing himself (they also all deserve applause for taking roles that won’t make them popular with their leftist peers in Hollywood.)
I’m hearing the same comments from people who’ve attended the film (aside from general praise for how good it is). One is that they were bracing for seeing disturbingly gory images, but that wasn’t the case. If that’s keeping you away, rest assured that you are shown just enough to make it clear what’s happening, but it’s mostly suggested or described. Another common comment is that one of the most riveting scenes came when guest star Janine Turner portrayed a well-respected, professional abortion clinic head who is called to the stand to describe how a legally-sanctioned, socially-acceptable, medically-proper abortion is conducted, and Gosnell’s attorney (Searcy) convincingly argues that it sounds more cruel than what his client is accused of.
Finally, everyone has mentioned that instead of rushing for the lobby at the end, audiences tend to sit in respectful silence through the credits. Not just because they’re thinking about what they just saw (an incredible rarity with today’s movies), but because there is a surprise in the credits that drives home the lengths to which the filmmakers went to make this movie almost documentary-like in its accuracy.
This is a rare example of a film that might actually change hearts and minds, simply just by showing people the plain, unvarnished truth about a repulsive societal evil that we’ve covered up for years with phony euphemisms, like slathering creamy cake frosting over a pile of manure. A friend who saw it in Texas related to me a story that encapsulates what may be the biggest fear among those who are so desperate to keep Americans from seeing it: as he was walking out of the theater, there was a young black couple in front of him, and the man turned to the woman and said, “After seeing that, I’m voting Republican and buying a ‘Make America Great Again’ hat.’”
But again, the movie itself is not at all partisan. It goes out of its way to be accurate and even-handed and to give the pro-choice side. As the prosecutors repeatedly insist, this isn’t about a “woman’s right to choose,” it’s about murder and medical malpractice. It simply shows us the straight, unvarnished truth about abortion. It's the truth that sets you free.

Democrats pretending to be something they aren't
There’s a lot of talk about Democratic strategists urging candidates not to tell voters what they actually want to do because their policies are so unpopular. If they admit that once in office, they’ll vote for Pelosi and Schumer as leaders; try to impeach Trump and Kavanaugh; launch a bunch of expensive, pointless, divisive investigations of political enemies; abolish ICE; throw open the borders and raise taxes, people might not vote for them. So instead, we get this crop of shiny, new “moderate centrists,” who honest-to-gosh and pinky-swear don’t want to wreck the economy and take away your guns and free speech! Trust them on this!
This hiding of the real agenda has been a tradition for years with many Democrats, who go back home at election time and tell the voters what moderate guardians of the Treasury they are, then once they're safely reelected, go back to voting like Alec Baldwin and spending money like Johnny Depp. But that kind of duplicity is getting harder to pull off, now that there are cameras everywhere.
Just ask Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill, now polling in a dead heat with Republican challenger Josh Hawley. She and her staffers are the latest to get caught by the hidden cameras of James O’Keeke’s Profect Veritas Action, admitting that she has to say she won’t vote to impeach Trump or to grab your guns because she’s got to win some moderate voters, but once she’s safely reelected, she is so going to grab your guns and impeach Trump.
As one staffer put it, “People just can’t know that” because “it could hurt her ability to get elected.” But isn't exactly why people should know that? I'm reminded of the leak of those DNC emails exposing the rigged primary system. Democrats attacked the messenger but never did refute that the emails exposed the truth that everyone already suspected. What do you bet the official response to these McCaskill videos will be to accuse James O’Keefe of being a Russian bot?

Witches
Well, after two years of engaging in witch hunts, the Democrats finally found some witches. Just not where they expected.
On the other hand, when you're a Senate candidate in Arizona and you have a history as a far-left anti-war activist who depicted US troops as death’s-headed terrorists; called Arizonans “crazy” when you were out of state; promoted campus appearances by the radical lawyer who represented Omar Abdel Rahman, the “Blind Sheikh” behind the 1993 World Trade Center bombing; once said that when attending an event sponsored by anarchists it would be “inappropriate” to impose your beliefs on them by asking them not to destroy property or carry a weapon; and compared Arizona to a meth lab, inviting a few witches to your rally seems like pretty small potatoes.
Senator Warren's DNA
Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s DNA test revealed that she does indeed have Native-American blood. But after the Boston Globe repeatedly botched the math, gradually reducing the proportion with each new bulletin, we finally learned that she is as little as 1/1024th Native American. For the record, that’s considerably less American Indian blood than the average white American of European ancestry has.
Some on the left are trying to say this “proves” her claim to Native American heritage. Warren even expects President Trump to pay up on his $1 million offer if she actually was proven to be Native American. But like the left’s attempts to bring back segregation in schools, treating women like delicate flowers who need fainting couches, and importing an oppressed Third World underclass to do their field and house work, it’s yet another throwback to the unenlightened past when the “one drop of blood” rule meant that having just one drop of black blood meant you were legally black. And they claim Republicans want to turn back the clock!
As for Sen. Warren, Harvard denies that she got set-aside privileges meant for Native Americans (Harvard has enough racial scandals to deal with now, over their alleged bias against Asian applicants.) But if she did, then she not only unfairly benefited from those programs, she took a slot meant for someone who really was a victim of racism. That’s the type of fraud that shouldn’t be rewarded with public office.
However, there may be a bright side to Sen. Warren’s now scientifically-proven “cultural appropriation.” A number of people have noted that this reinforces the traditional idea of America as a melting pot, something that’s been under siege by the left for years as they attempted to attain power by sowing suspicion, hatred and victimhood to divide Americans into warring tribes. There’s a new documentary that shows how out of touch with reality are today’s officially-mandated racial categorizations, grievance politics and the well-funded diversity industry that needs to keep racism alive to stay profitable.

If leftists can defend Warren by claiming that being 1/1024th Native American makes her Native American, then they’re admitting that virtually all of us can claim to be Native American…and black…and Latino…and Asian…and everything else in the rainbow. We’re all a beautiful mixture of all the races of the world, just in different increments. And we're growing more mixed with each passing year. We all have that in common. And that gives us something else beautiful that we have in common: regardless of where our ancestors came from or what our bloodlines show, we are all Americans.
That’s what America is all about, and it's time we remembered that that's what really matters.
