Adding insult to injury

Many of us have been waiting to hear what possible legal or Constitutional justification the White House was going to float for President Biden dumping at least $300 billion worth of other people’s student loan debt onto the backs of the taxpayers. Now, we know: his legal team claims it’s covered under the 2003 HEROES Act (Higher Education Relief Opportunities for Students.) Talk about adding insult to injury!

https://www.westernjournal.com/revealed-sick-trick-bidens-using-cancel-student-debt-slap-face-veterans/

This was a law passed after the 9/11 attacks to provide debt relief for people who were carrying student loan debt while serving “in connection with a war or other military operation or national emergency.” Biden’s Secretary of “Education” Miguel Cardona rubberstamped this outrageous expansion of that law by claiming that the COVID-19 pandemic was a “national emergency.” So apparently, anybody at all who was affected by the pandemic is now due all of the benefits that were passed by Congress to help military members fighting in the Middle East and volunteers helping with natural disasters or terrorist attacks – even Antifa types who spent the summer of 2020 launching terrorist attacks themselves. And even if they got their useless degrees years before COVID was even created (sorry: "spontaneously emerged.")

Under Trump, a guidance was issued reinforcing the limits of this act, making it clear that “Congress does not impliedly delegate a policy decision of massive economic and political magnitude — as blanket or mass cancellation, compromise, discharge, or forgiveness of student loan principal balances, or the material modification of the repayment terms or amounts thereof, surely would be — to an administrative agency.”  General Counsel Reed Rubinstein said if Congress intended that, it would be in the law, saying that Congress doesn’t “hide elephants in mouseholes.”

Not even the White House press secretary was able to justify this ridiculous excusifying, offering baffling gibberish when a reporter pressed her on how they can cite the pandemic as a current emergency warranting massive financial relief when they already argued in court that it was over months ago so they could lift Title 42 and let in more illegal immigrants at the border. As I often say, if it weren't for situational ethics, they'd have no ethics at all.

https://www.westernjournal.com/reporter-puts-bidens-covid-hypocrisy-display-ultimate-checkmate-question-press-sec/

As we’ve all seen, the Democrats currently in charge of Congress and the White House have zero concern about the Constitution. Their house organ, the New York Times, just ran an article arguing for ditching the Constitution completely because it’s impeding their idea of “progress” (yes, and that’s precisely why we have it)…

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/opinion/new-york-times-guest-essay-calls-for-liberals-to-bypass-e2-80-98broken-e2-80-99-constitution-make-it-more-e2-80-98amendable-e2-80-99/ar-AA10Qzna

As that first linked article above points out, this is a transparently bogus reading of the HEROES Act, but who will step up to challenge it? And will the Supreme Court have the courage, after the violent threats following their overturning of Roe v. Wade (that Biden’s DOJ has done virtually nothing to stop), to knock down this unconstitutional power grab?

The Democrats have already used the pandemic “emergency” as an excuse for vastly expanding the powers of government, trampling citizens’ rights, coercing people into taking a vaccine against their wills at risk of losing their jobs and military benefits, and passing ruinously expensive and expansive bills on a one-vote margin. It seems as if every week, they come up with some new scheme to burn another trillion dollars on some government-bloating program or vote-buying giveaway to another Democrat voting bloc, even as the economy is entering recession and inflation is ravaging working Americans’ budgets.

Here’s a hard shot of truth: the pandemic emergency is over. The dire emergency that’s currently threatening America’s present and future is these people being in power. The only way to end that emergency isn’t by spending even more money on it, but by voting it out of office.

PS – Speaking of voting these people out of office, possible Biden successor and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has a much better idea for those who want to cancel student loan debt than making taxpayers who had nothing to do with it foot the bill. He suggests that colleges and universities pay for it.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/florida-gov-desantis-calls-bidens-student-loan-handout-unconstitutional-says-colleges-should-pay

DeSantis said they’re the ones who benefitted from exorbitant student loans. They kept raising tuition at four times the rate of inflation, while the quality of education didn’t improve (some of us would say the opposite occurred.) And some universities like Harvard are sitting on endowments of tens of billions of dollars. So why should truck drivers and waitresses pay taxes to bail out their students?

I still stand by my solution: If you were told that a degree was the key to success, and encouraged to take out big loans to obtain one, only to find your degree was so useless that you couldn’t even earn enough to pay back the cost of getting the degree, then you’re a victim of fraud. All those people with useless degrees should file a class action lawsuit against the schools and demand refunds.

Whistleblowers: FBI prevented investigation of Hunter's laptop

Have you noticed lately how many stories there are in the news with the word “whistleblower” in them? Perhaps we’ve finally reached a culmination, as it seems many in the rank-and-file at our once-cherished institutions of government have had enough of politically biased, unjust and unethical leadership. Lines have been crossed, especially at the ‘Justice’ Department and FBI, and employees must know, deep down, that saying they were “just following orders” doesn’t cut it. They’ve got to be able to look at themselves in the mirror. So more are starting to come forward.

As we reported last week, Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan of the House Judiciary Committee has said that 14 whistleblowers from the FBI have contacted his office. By now, I’ll bet that number is higher.

Nick Arama at REDSTATE has been following the stories being brought to light by FBI whistleblowers. Here’s one regarding agent Tim Thibault and the push to inflate the danger from “domestic terrorism.”

https://redstate.com/nick-arama/2022/07/28/more-whistleblower-info-on-fbi-padding-stats-helping-biden-narrative-on-domestic-extremism-n602897

Whistleblowers told Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson that after the FBI took possession of Hunter Biden’s laptop in December 2019, FBI brass told agents for months to treat it like Kryptonite and not go anywhere near it. The contents were not examined at all until after the 2020 election. The stated reason was that they were “not going to change the outcome of the election again.”

Never mind that by hiding this information about Biden and his family, they WERE very likely changing the outcome of the election. Obviously, the upper echelon at the FBI were rationalizing; do you think for one minute that if that laptop had belonged to one of the Trump offspring, they would have hidden it away, so as not to change the outcome of the election? No, they would have leaked the whole thing to THE NEW YORK TIMES.

But they really, really wanted to keep this quiet. According to John Paul Mac Isaac, the computer repairman who contacted the FBI after the laptop had been abandoned by Hunter, he was even told by an agent that “It is our experience that nothing ever happens to people who don’t talk about these things.”

https://redstate.com/nick-arama/2022/08/12/hunter-biden-laptop-repairman-alleges-fbi-bias-and-threatening-remark-n611069

THE NEW YORK POST also reports that according to Sen. Johnson, “individuals with knowledge” had told his office that “local FBI leadership” had slow-walked the laptop investigation. The senator wrote to Inspector General Michael Horowitz to say, “These new allegations provide even more evidence of the FBI’s corruption and renew calls for you to take immediate steps to investigate the FBIs actions regarding the laptop.”

“While I understand your hesitation to investigate a matter that may be related to an ongoing investigation,” he wrote the IG, “it is clear to me based on numerous whistleblower disclosures that the FBI cannot be trusted with the handling of Hunter Biden’s laptop.”

https://nypost.com/2022/08/24/fbi-warned-agents-off-hunter-biden-laptop-due-to-election-whistleblowers/

Matt Vespa at TOWNHALL has a good take on the story, pointing out the irony that the FBI’s attempt to –- for once –- NOT affect an election (that is to say, not hurt “their” guy) only served to make them look more like the Democratic Party’s Gestapo.

https://townhall.com/tipsheet/mattvespa/2022/08/25/whistleblower-fbi-officials-ordered-agents-to-steer-clear-of-hunter-biden-laptop-n2612219?utm_campaign=rightrailsticky2

If you subscribe to THE EPOCH TIMES, they have more detail as well, including the reminder that then-candidate Joe Biden called the laptop story Russian disinformation.

https://www.theepochtimes.com/new-whistleblower-claims-fbi-leaders-delayed-key-investigation-sen-johnson

In a stunning turn, billionaire Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has apparently seen the need to reveal conversations initiated by the FBI concerning “Russian disinformation.” Perhaps he was just trying to get ahead of a breaking story. For whatever reason, he said Thursday on “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast that just before the laptop story broke, the FBI came to Facebook and warned them some “Russian disinformation” was coming. (“The Russians Are Coming! The Russians Are Coming!”)

He quoted them as saying something like, “Hey, just so you know, like, you should be on high alert...We thought that there was a lot of Russian propaganda in the 2016 election. We have it on notice that, basically, there’s about to be some kind of dump that’s similar to that. So just be vigilant.”

Zuckerberg wasn’t sure if the agents had specifically mentioned the laptop but said it “fit the pattern” of what they'd been calling Russian information. In his discussion with Rogan, he said he “regretted how he handled it” but still tried to minimize what they'd done. He said Facebook’s approach was “certainly more reasonable than Twitter’s stance.”

https://redstate.com/nick-arama/2022/08/25/smoking-gun-mark-zuckerberg-makes-big-admission-to-joe-rogan-about-fbi-censorship-and-hunter-biden-n617962

Recall that Twitter completely shut down the story after it appeared in the NEW YORK POST, and Facebook reduced its distribution to a “meaningful” (Zuckerberg’s word) degree. BREITBART NEWS has some additional details.

https://www.breitbart.com/tech/2022/08/25/mark-zuckerberg-fbi-warned-facebook-of-russian-propaganda-dump-ahead-of-hunter-biden-laptop-story/

And here’s the story as told by the NEW YORK POST.  With that, we’ve come full circle, as it was Miranda Devine at the POST who broke the laptop story that Zuckerberg suppressed.

https://nypost.com/2022/08/25/mark-zuckerberg-criticizes-twitters-handling-of-the-posts-hunter-biden-laptop-story/?

Finally, after hearing about Zuckerberg, Tucker Carlson lit into the FBI for “rigging the 2020 election.” And, yes, the word “rigging” is appropriate, as we know beyond any doubt that they put their thumb on the scale.  "To manipulate by dishonest means" is one definition of "rig."

Even if not a single voting machine were compromised or a single ballot box stuffed, the actions of the FBI prevented the process from being above-board. Combine their lies with the efforts of partisan media, politicians, other bureaucrats, slick election attorneys and social media billionaires tinkering around the edges, and there’s an impact. Why would they bother if they didn’t expect to affect the outcome?

Look at the election like a game of pool. Cheating doesn’t mean reaching across the table and shoving the balls into the pockets. That’s much too obvious, when all it might take is tilting the table a little...

Judge Reinhart releases blacked-out affidavit today

In anticipation of the release on Friday of a VERY heavily-redacted affidavit from the ‘Justice’ Department from their unconscionable raid on President Trump’s home, Jonathan Turley has written a column slamming their attempt to keep the entire thing hidden while strategically leaking to their friends in the press.

“There has never been a more important time for Attorney General Merrick Garland to show leadership in plugging his leaky ship while ordering the release of a redacted affidavit,” Turley says. He calls it “curious” that in court, the judge is expected to uphold extensive redactions while being “able to read an extensive array of the same details at breakfast in newspaper accounts leaked by the government.”

(In fact, since Turley’s column appeared in the NEW YORK POST, U.S. Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart has indeed accepted the document with redactions and will make the redacted version public on Friday morning, after finding that “the Government has met its burden of showing that its proposed redactions are narrowly tailored to serve the Government’s legitimate interest in the integrity of the ongoing investigation and are the least onerous alternative to sealing the entire Affidavit.” I know, we don’t buy it, either. )

https://www.theepochtimes.com/fbi-search-warrant-affidavit-for-trumps-home-to-be-made-public-judge

Those leaks about the raid that ended up in THE NEW YORK TIMES and WASHINGTON POST aren’t necessarily even true. After reading so much fake news about Trump in those papers, do you honestly believe anything reported there by way of “high-level intelligence officials with knowledge of the investigation”? Regarding the raid, we’ve seen an evolving series of unverified stories there, even one about Trump possessing highly sensitive and dangerous nuclear secrets. If most of the affidavit is blacked out, there will be no way for the public to know if those stories were even in it –- and, if so, if they were documented –- or if they were just concocted and leaked after the raid. (The judge knows, but we won’t.)

Despite the leaks, Turley says, “the Justice Department is still implausibly insisting that no substantive information can be released in a redacted affidavit.” Seems to me, the big take-away is that nothing leaked from the ‘Justice’ Department can be believed. Not a word. Those leaks are either outright lies or out-of-context factoids devoid of any exculpatory information –- right on par with what we’d hear from the January 6th committee hearings. There’s no way to know if the information they’re releasing is presented fairly and accurately.

And that’s a big concern, given that the ‘Justice’ Department and FBI have actively falsified information and been extremely misleading in the past when it came to Trump and his associates. If some of the factual and legal background in the affidavit were released, it might help explain why the FBI acted as they did, and why the search warrant was so ridiculously –- I would say unconstitutionally –- broad. According to Turley, this raid “had all the selectivity of a cyclone.”

“The legal section of the affidavit,” he says, “could disclose how such a seemingly limitless warrant was justified under the law.” My research team and I are not attorneys, but if the DOJ has blacked out that section, it tells us that they HAVEN’T justified such a warrant. If they could justify it, they would show us.

Turley points out that some of the sections might also tell us how the DOJ could treat Trump so very differently than they did Hillary Clinton and her associates when they resisted inquiries into highly classified material kept on unsecured servers. Again, if those sections are blacked out, it tells us the DOJ is not ABLE to explain that. If they could defend the indefensible, they would.

“Garland cannot ignore his department’s checkered history in Trump-related investigations,” Turley says, “or the contrast in treatment with past investigations like Clinton’s classified emails.”

The attorney general lamely defended the DOJ’s integrity while failing to take steps to demonstrate it. One reasonable way he could have shown some fairness and decency after such a crazily overbroad search was to appoint a neutral “special master” to go through documents and assess their relevance. But he wouldn’t even do that.

With the DOJ’s image of integrity and fairness still swirling down the toilet bowl, Garland has just flushed again.

FB runs interference for Democrats

Still going above and beyond to run interference for Democrats, Facebook blocked a post by the GOP House Judiciary Committee on Biden’s student loan “forgiveness,” claiming that it “goes against our community standards.” The post read, “If you take out a loan, you pay it back. Period.”

https://www.westernjournal.com/gop-house-judiciary-committee-facebook-post-blocked-11-words-bidens-loan-forgiveness/

I didn’t realize that the Facebook community was such a collection of deadbeats that they get triggered by the very idea of having to pay back their debts. Let this be a warning to any loan companies thinking of advertising on Facebook.

Biden's abuse of the HEROES Act goes hand in glove with his Afghanistan catastrophe. Both show his complete and total contempt for our heroes who fought the War on Terror.

Gov Huckabee: Article of Fox News states that after the FBI Raid on Mar a Lago, that President Trump was told to improve the security of his storage facility. Question: Shouldn't document security arrangements/requirements at Mar a Lago have been made between President Trump and the applicability agency well before he left the White House? -- Or shouldn't they have been more specific about security requirements during the NARA visit earlier this year? Why are they telling President Trump all this long after the fact? The Fed Government had to have known that he was taking highly sensitive documents to Mar A Lago before Trump even left the White House in 2021. Even if they had been declassified they still needed appropriate security and document security requirements have LONG been in place. If a former President is permitted to keep documents under Executive Privilege and Attorney Client Privilege, said documents MUST cover the entire spectrum of security classification levels. Therefore the DOJ's assertions that they had to raid because of such documents seems to be a farce.

RE:"Judge Reinhart releases blacked-out affidavit today". I read the affidavit and all I see is unverifiable accusations and a palimpsest of impenetrable jargon that should be self evident to anyone reading it. ( Self evident a Thomas Jefferson way of saying " Any idiot should be able to discern ").
A good investment this and coming weeks would be Magic Markers.

Look I get the complaint about putting the price tag of the student loan forgiveness debt on the backs of the taxpayer...as I am one of those...a taxpayer and a student loan recipient, i.e. Parent Plus Loan. Not everyone who went to college got useless degrees. I took out a Parent Plus loan for my daughter in order for her to fulfill her dream of becoming a fashion designer. Is it a degree that I would have picked…no, but I am not her and that is what she wanted to do! She worked hard and got good grades. So, the next time you put on clothes, you may want to re-think if it is a useless degree. How can you say a degree is useless if it what the person is trying to achieve their goal in life and provide a living for themselves doing what they love to do? That’s like trying to say that a particular religion is useless or ways of life are useless! I may agree that there are some pretty wild majors/degrees out there that may or seem useless, too. However, it seems like you are lumping all the degrees in your article as being useless...not acceptable. In order for my daughter to achieve her goal in life she had to go to an arts school that...yeah...charges 2 arms and 2 legs to get a degree. I work for a University that would have given her a 75% discount on tuition, but they didn’t have her major, nor would they partner with another art school, either. Since the pandemic when she graduated in May 2020, she didn't get to walk in order to get the degree she work so hard to get, and not being able to get a good job for at least a year, but then took a job in which, I believe she had reverse-racial discrimination against her, and she had to leave due to lack of sales and work, still due the pandemic. She had to move home because she couldn't afford the area she was living in. Here's the kicker, I am tied to that Plus loan until I die. They didn’t explain certain things that go along with that Plus Loan: over $150K in loans in 4 years with $17K in interest accrual that attached to my Social Security when I retire and no bankruptcy if I lose my job, and I can't get any other loans like a home equity loan if I wanted to because of the large debt attached to me for my daughter's education and while all these students are getting $10K forgiveness, apparently no $10K forgiveness for Parent Plus Loans which has to deal with education. The only relief I got so far has been the deferment without accruing interest. If the government should do anything, it should go after the schools that are charging an outrageous amount of tuition and board, to subsidize this forgiveness, whereas if they wouldn’t have charged 2 arms and 2 legs for the education a lot of students wouldn’t be in the position they are in. And by the way, I am a Republican/conservative and my incomes with my wife’s income is less than $75K. So, I am not a rich person getting any benefits from this!

Thanks for your commentary on the student loan bail-out. The mantra that a good student can go wherever and pay whatever simply by tapping into government money has fed the explosive rise in tuition. As long as the flow of dollars continues, so will the inflationary costs.
Community College remains an excellent local source of lower-division college education and it is there that a good student will get a good 2-year education at an affordable price. Then it's on to the state university. It's not rocket economics.

A crazy ending to a crazy week. The left has been conducting a "cold " civil since Trump voted in. They have have idea that the right is buzzing like a nest of angry hornets. In order to get legal voting there will be the need for armed patriots at each site or patriotic police if they can be found
Now that the Left has built it's Tower of Babel we desperately need God to intervene.

Big deal, a whole 14 whistle-blowers have come forward. There are thousands of DOJ and FBI employees. Not coming forward means you are complicit. Every single one of them beyond the 14 should be fired. Most of the leadership should be prosecuted.
At least half of America is ill informed fools watching only MSM with no clue what is happening. The clown in charge had his ratings actually go up this week. Why are these fools so ill informed? Because the GOP and it's candidates do a terrible job getting their message out. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see a red wave when half the country is clueless.

If Biden and the Dems want to forgive loans how about forgiving Americans the National Debt?
