Ordinarily, I wouldn’t cover this kind of personal scandal accusation against a Congress member, but this story makes two points that are worthy of note, completely aside from the member’s alleged behavior:
1. Real investigative journalism is still alive and well at the local and independent levels, even if many national outlets have devolved into partisan PR agencies that trumpet unsourced rumors about Republicans while ignoring accusations against Democrats, particularly prominent, far-left, minority Democrats.
2. The Democrats in Congress are demanding to sift through every record of Donald Trump, his businesses, his family and his friends going back 10 years, on a Captain Ahab-like quest to find something – anything! – to impeach him for. But when you have an actual reason to request records from one of them to prove that they haven’t committed a specific crime, you are met with the kind of impenetrable stone wall you only wish they’d agree to build at our Southern border.
