Here’s how you know you’re over the target: Rhode Island mom Nicole Solas wanted to know what her daughter was being taught in kindergarten, so she asked for a copy of the public school curriculum, which she has a right to see. For some reason, they refused to hand over the document. That made her suspicious, so she starting filing Freedom of Information Act requests for more documents. They fought those, and even tried to make her go away by billing her $74,000 for their alleged efforts at having to compile those documents.

Now, the powerful teachers’ union, the National Education Association-Rhode Island, has declared full-out war on Solas and is suing her, claiming they’re trying to protect “private” information. But the emails Solas is seeking were sent on public school servers, which makes them public record (anyone else getting a Hillary Clinton vibe here?) For the record, the NEA backs teaching Critical Race Theory in public schools and boasts that its president, Becky Pringle, is a “fierce social justice warrior.”

Bryan Preston at PJ Media has lots more details at this link:

If the intent was to try to intimidate Solas into backing down, it didn’t work. She’s now represented by the Goldwater Institute, and her response to the NEA lawsuit was, “Game on.” If they were trying to hide public information from FOIA requests, then they’re not going to enjoy the discovery phase of this lawsuit.

Sounds like the self-flattering “social justice warriors” are about to discover what a truly fierce warrior looks like. And by that, I mean a mom who’s being told that she has no right to know what’s being taught to her kid.

You go mom!!!! Don’t you dare back down. You have right to know what curriculum they will be using especially in a public school where you pay taxes.

It seems that no matter where you go evil abounds We have to rise up and be counted to speak out against the evil that is rampant through out our communities A lot of people are ignorant of this war it is very real and has come to consume us We need to ask questions and educate ourselves then we must cry out to our leaders that these wrongful acts are not acceptable The most important thing we can do is pray and ask God to forgive us for allowing our leaders to try and take him and his word out of our governments schools and courts Now that we are in such a miserable state that will only get worse our only hope is that God will expose all evil intent and that he will heal our corrupted land

This is a little frightening, After all look at all the unlimited money supply that Unions have access to against a mother who is trying to protect her child. I see the Supreme court maybe getting in on this one. Its time to slay Goliath and stop protecting evil who has shown for many years that learning is not their first priority.

I can't believe what the children are learning is to be hidden, especially from a parent. As a former teacher, we always welcomed any parent to spend time in the classroom if they wanted. I guess that's one difference in R.I. and MS schools.

Remember that NEA does not stand for National Education Association... it actually stands for Never Educate Anyone...
That has been my belief during my 35 years in the classroom... and my 12 years (so far) of retirement!

The article about, "Rhode Island mom Nicole Solas", was interesting. She is indeed a fierce warrior. I am saddened these days about what is going on in America. I don't know how it all got started and organized up, but it is sure an attack on our freedoms. I feel helpless that we cannot stop what is going on. Those people, are starting to change America by indoctrinating are children (the future generation). We may very well be in the last days (years) of civilization leading up to the return of Christ.

Way to go! I'm proud of this mom going after the school and what they are teaching the kids. I think it should be posted in the school information of courses. Just what they teach the kids!

    Hello Governor Huckabee,

Forty years ago, the NEA was under the radar, pushing mind-numbing drugs like Ritalin. When they tried to hit my son with it, I said no and started looking into the courses. I read the teaching manual for Washington State. Back then it stated a goal of seven attributes each student should come away with, one of which was ambiguity. I asked his teacher why in the world any child would be taught to be ambiguous. Her answer was that ambiguous means-- with an open mind, able to learn. A TEACHER told me this forty years ago. Is it any wonder that our children and grandchildren are so brainwashed?

I have never commented before, but now I am. Being a retired school teacher from Texas......thank goodness we never unionized....I am watching our public schools decay across this country. In the beginning unions were needed to fight for the rights and benefits of workers. But over the years unions have become as powerful as government, and POWER is a like an addiction. I support Mrs. Solas for standing up for her child, her school, her city and state! I support all parents who are being courageous across America and standing up and being "social justice Warriors" for their children. If parents don't, who will? Our children are the future of America........or are they?

Gov: Sounds to me like Mrs Solas should be "Mother of the Year". I applaud her efforts and would stand beside her if I were in her space.
