NBC, Hollywood and some liberals already have Oprah Winfrey elected President in their heads, but Oprah might already be feeling some reservations after getting a taste of what it’s like to stick your neck out in the political arena. Like the photos at this link that were already circulating before the final credits even ran at the Golden Globes.

I have always warned potential candidates that they’d better not go into politics if they don’t like the sight of their own blood. Oprah has always struck me as a nice lady, and I have no beef with her personally. But you can’t run for President on likability alone. The job requires taking controversial political stands and having everything you’ve ever said in your life dug up and thrown back at you. In her case, that will include, but not be limited to: endorsing gun control, legalizing 12 million illegal immigrants, selling Obama to Americans as “the One,” her unmarried relationship with Stedman Graham, introducing Dr. Oz as a medical expert we can trust, endorsing the books “The Secret” and “A Million Little Pieces,” and giving a platform to anti-vaccination campaigners and other dangerous health quackery, to name but a few.

Does she really want to spend months on the grueling campaign trail, answering questions about all that, when she could be enjoying all her money and hanging out only with people who worship her? On the other hand, if we elect her, maybe we’ll all get a free car. That does sound like a Democratic platform plank that Bernie Sanders could endorse.

I for one do not want to see her become president. She is just like Obama. She is the biggest raciest person I know. She will take our country back 200 yrs if she does become president. WE put up with Obama for 8 yrs. and he did nothing for the american people. Oprah is just another Obama

I agree with you regarding Oprah for president...a crazy idea, but it is unfair of you to constantly attack those who do not advocate vaccination. I am one of those and I am not a quack and am a conservative. I also believed in vaccination until I studied it myself and there is no doubt it is dangerous....I repeat, I am no quack and am sick and tired of being referred to one. People like me are also called uncaring for children and a hippie type. I am a strong conservative ( but oppose BigPharma. Opposition to the enormous amount of vaccination, particularly of our children, does not mean one is "liberal", lefty-wing or a "nut".

Oprah is a racist. She is Obummer in a skirt. She wants all old southern white men to die, now does that make a great president? NOT!!!!!!We do not need to bring hate back into the White House.

Are you serious? That is ridiculous. What we need to start doing is getting Mr. President in for another 4 year term. We need to think ahead and ensure his Presidency and help our Nation to get strong again. Time is wasting, let's fight for our Nation NOW!

With all due respect, I do not believe that Oprah would be good for America as president. As an American I am dismayed by the lack of honesty that exist in part of our culture. They tend to live in a fairy tale world. When our President speaks the truth, they get so angry and upset because they want everything sugar coated.

I am not offended by the truth because we need to face the truth and we must make changes to old policies that no longer apply to today's time. When I first came to America at the age of eight, the very first thing my father said to me was respect America, respect our president and honor him and from now on, speak English.

We came to America legally through hard work, education and always striving to add value to America to say thank you. I understand what the president said and he is not a racist. Some of these countries including the one that my family originated from are horrible places and they are hell on earth. This is why people risk their lives to come to America. We need to be realistic about this and support the president and give him the benefit of the doubt and trust that he has America's best interest at heart and he wants to focus on us and make us a great nation.

I fear that the younger generation has been so dumbed down, and taught to "feel," not "reason or know." I met a woman yesterday who'd never heard of Winston Churchill. There are kids who don't know the location of the Panama Canal or Great Wall of China, and don't know who fought The Civil War or World War II, let alone who won them. But keep writing; you're doing a great job. Hope you'll read my latest on "War in the Classroom."
What is Betsy deVos doing? Who's minding the schoolhouse?

I would never vote for her. For one thing, she lived with someone for 30 years and didn't want to marry him. She has said that. That goes to morality. She doesn't have any.

I believe Mrs Pelosi and Mrs Oprah could be "uncommon " bed fellows. With both them having the mindset of tyrants and nothing for the little man.
I would shudder to think what a Oprah USA would look like. Probably a lit of chaos with no sure answers. I personally think that we have the RIGHT person (FINALLY) in office to bring us back to where we need to be.
Mr. Huckabee I applaud what your doing with the open doors that you have been given. At least I know that there is still some HONEST news reports out there .
    Thanks again.

Oh sweet Jesus HELP US!!! Oprah couldn't lead her way out of a wet paper bag! And folks, as on 'star' tweeted that, "Oprah is everything"... Oprah isn't "everything"! She has a very slanted, twisted view of herself and everything around her. She lives in a cerebral ivory tower!!!

When did common sense disappear. I was surprised to learn in this last election that a proud Socialist had been put in our U.S. Congress!! What are people thinking? So why not Oprah, anyone can run. My vote was against the socialist Hillary, OBama, Sanders team. It’s almost unthinkable in this freedom loving country that they almost won!!

    01/10/2018 09:33 AM

Great article. I like Oprah also, but I don't care about Hollywood thinks. Most need a Savior. Love your shows, your posts on FB, and your newsletters! Love the fact that you see if from the Christian perspective; that's the perspective I prefer. God Bless you and yours! Love your daughter also!!

I recently saw a picture of Oprah hugging Obama if this is true will she spread hate and division the same as Obama did? I am thinking she will. She has also said terrible things about our Lord Jesus Christ and Christians. Would you vote for her yourself?

  • Cynthia Duke

    01/10/2018 08:42 AM

I will never vote for Oprah. I think she needs to stick with her Hollywood friends who live in their own version of reality. I have problems with her not saying anything about the sexual preditors there in Hollywood when I don't see how she could not know what was going on. She then hops up on the #MeToo bandwagon with her speech that sounds good. Too little too late, as far as I'm concerned.

Dear Mike, You were my first choice for President & my first $100 donation! Not much but for a "country Baptist preacher" significant. We almost met when you spoke at the Pro Life Personhood meeting in Jackson, Ms. Thank you for your time, work, integrity and principled stand of key issues. Please keep up the good fight! Our prayers are with you. Your TV programs have been excellent also. As for Oprah, "Lord please deliver us." Gold bless you and your family Especially Sarah. What a great job she is doing!!! Oprah is not "a nice lady". She has said "first all white racists must die" when discussing how she would improve the country if she could. I heard her yelling at Elie Wiesel when he was discussing the time of Jewish slavery on her show. She screamed (more like screeched) "Don't talk to me about slavery! I know all about it!" I thought that was odd given the fact slavery had been abolished over 100 years before she was born. She was also far too proud to take credit for getting Obama elected, ignoring the massive damage he did. If, by some horrible fluke, she was ever to be elected to any office, the country would be in much worse shape than it was a year ago!

  • Marilee Males

    01/10/2018 01:50 AM

She will not run. The danger is her backing a liberal and anti -Christian person like Obama. She is very comfortable where she is and would have no time for appearing with the Hollywood crowd. I just don't think she would ever want to be under that kind of pressure nor is she well versed on all the issues.

I think Nikki Haley is marvelous at the U N and I would vote for her if she ran. That is the only woman I would consider voting for.

I don't watch television but I have been aware of Oprah's impact on the minds of Americans. I know that she is a liberal and that she promotes human rights, wherever that may lead. However, government should be in the hands of truly responsible and conservative people. It should be seriously considered as a vocation or a calling. I don't feel that 'prah has ever been given that calling. She likes to make people feel good, and yes, she is a very nice lady, and yes, she is a billionaire. However, I think that a President needs to feel that it is his vocation, his calling, and I do not feel that Oprah has that strength within. It is a strong leadership quality that is needed; I don't feel that she has that talent.

The Republican/Conservative media need to ignore the Oprah for President noise. The more her name is mentioned, the more free campaign advertisement she gets. She isn’t a threat. Pres. Trump is slowly becoming recognized for his genius, leadership, domestic and global knowledge, patriotism and genuine concern for ALL AMERICANS.

I'm not one for watching game shows and Hollywoods self-congratulating, back slapping celebrity self-award programs. But when the Main Stream Media has to go there to find someone they believe would be an astounding Presidential Candidate, I cannot follow their line of reasoning. Yes I know she was once a reporter of some sort and made a lot of money writing books of some sort, but other than that, I didn't care to watch her programs or was I swayed by her status and lifestyle. More than that, I never particularly liked Oprah; never did. Her past celebrity rah-rah for the worst President we ever had in office put her in the same circle.

  • Mary Van Winkle

I absolutely do not think that Oprah would make a good president. When I do not believe she knows anything really about politics and second of all I know she is very liberal and love the Obamas. And as far as her saying that she was a Christian she is not. She thinks that we are Gods ourselves. You can go on YouTube and watch a lot of her videos on there and see what her opinion is on Christianity and religion.

Oprah has proven herself in the entertainment business for sure and she is a gifted actress. Listening to her speech at the Golden Globe awards reminded me in many ways of Obama-great orator, but what was he/she really saying....and why? It took me a few months to get used to Trump's very blunt and bombastic manner, but I realize now that he says what he really thinks-YIKES!!!!!-like no other politician I can remember. This mannerism is not only refreshing, but also it portrays a feeling for this country that few express. He puts his message squarely on the table and we know where he stands-keeping those "deplorables" well informed and relieved that this leader cares.

    Hi Mike,

My husband and I absolutely love your emails, TV show and especially your sense of humor which keeps many of us from the temptation at times to despair. I am Christian and conservative as they come and heartily agree with about everything you say. I would however as you to reconsider what you stated about anti vaccines being quackery. I know many well educated medical professionals who think otherwise. This is a very controversial medical and scientific issue. I have studied both sides (historically and medically) to the best of my ability and after the third of my six children had a severe, dangerous reaction to a vaccine I came down on the side of freedom no abstain from vaccines. I know more than a few parents including several physicians who believe their child was stricken with serious consequences after a vaccine. Personally I would not partake of them. Flu shots for instance are lined with aluminum which is not a life sustaining substance and can clearly be toxic. Conservative doesn't mean always going along with traditional medical or pharma options. Respectfully yours, A.O.

I really see nothing in her that impresses me to vote for her to be a president. I really don't think she is a good entertainer either. That would be a prerequisite, since politics is mostly show business anyway.

We have only had one politician, who was a former actor or TV personality, who was worth a crap & that was Ronald Reagan. I don't think Oprah could do as well. She has a lot of money & has used that money for some very good things. But Donald Trump will be a difficult act to follow. And he is not acting; he is sincerely trying to make this a better country. We don't want another person in the White House who is politically correct. We don't want to get back to that agenda!

So, some have said Oprah for President and Michelle Obama for VP..horrifying. Anyway, I was thinking it is SO much more obvious now that the media have BECOME Hollywood! Now they are actors with scripts and made-up situations with thoughts, ideas and "news" that can also be totally made up, like a movie or sitcom. So does that make editors and publishers and owners, the directors, etc?

By the way, could you PLEASE have someone correct the spelling of my first name? It's Cheryl. Not Cheryol.

If we had Oprah for a president, we would all have to read that hokey book, The Secret. Also, we would have to join a New Age non-church and suscribe to Marianne Williamson, probably misspelled, and her tenants of non-religion. Oprah won't run. Couldn't take the hate.

Well Governor Huckabee, perhaps you should view this clip of Oprah, before you decide whether or not you have a beef with her. Personally, she has a beef with you. This woman is seething with racial anger and contempt. If she actually ran for POTUS, this clip would be played round the clock.
