Evening Edition - May 4

Liberty Counsel is defending a number of churches from unconstitutional attacks leveled in the name of combating the coronavirus. One of the most outrageous yet was a story that the mayor of Kansas City is requiring churches to keep lists of the names, addresses and phone numbers of every person who attends services.

The mayor’s office, hit with a furious backlash, responded with a “clarification”: the city was not demanding a list of every church attendee, but requiring that the churches keep the list for 30 days so that if an attendee was diagnosed with the virus, everyone else could be notified, but the church could keep the list and destroy it in 30 days

That’s better than the first story, but it still requires churches to demand personal ID information from everyone who comes to worship, which is a very dangerous precedent, no matter the justification. The city argues that they require it of every other business except “essential” groceries and medical facilities.

The issue, however, is that churches are not “non-essential businesses.” They are sacred places specifically protected from government oversight and interference by the First Amendment. It appears that too many people in positions of power are unable to grasp the difference. They can ask for cooperation from churches, and most have been more than happy to cooperate. But when government tries to coerce churches into "cooperating," they’ve crossed the line.

Good News on the Virus Front: the FDA has approved a coronavirus antibody test that reportedly provides near-perfect accuracy.

This should help give us an even clearer idea of how widespread the virus already is. Previous studies suggest that far more people have been exposed than we thought and had mild or no symptoms, and that the death rate is actually much lower than originally estimated. That’s not to say it isn’t a very bad, even deadly, disease for those who are particularly susceptible, such as the elderly and those with underlying health problems such as obesity and compromised immune systems.

But if authorities expect Americans to keep complying with safety guidelines, we need to see some solid numbers to justify it, not wild, apocalyptic predictions that are used to impose draconian lockdowns, then are later scaled back.

On that topic, I’ve been hearing about how Sweden, which refused to impose a harsh lockdown and close its economy, was suffering devastating results. But here’s a report from National Review that suggests it’s fared no worse than nations that did destroy their economies.

I am a proud supporter of Samaritan’s Purse, an organization that’s always first on the scene to offer help wherever it’s needed from Africa to New York City. Unfortunately, because it is a Christian organization, some people let their religious bigotry overwhelm any sense of gratitude that they should be showing. I wonder how many people treated by the COVID-19 hospital set up in New York agree with the nasty and ungrateful comments by the city council speaker?

I think the council speaker should look into the origins of the name of Samaritan’s Purse, which is inspired by the parable of the Good Samaritan, as told by Jesus in the Gospel of Luke. A Jew who is beaten and robbed is ignored by members of his own groups but helped by a Samaritan. Jews and Samaritans normally despised each other. Jesus teaches us that the victim’s true neighbor was the person who showed mercy, not the ones who were just part of his own group.

When the speaker figures out who the real friends of the New York virus victims are, he can make his donation at www.samaritanspurse.org.

Bad Metaphor of the Day: After the New York Times called on the DNC to investigate to see if there were any records of former Joe Biden staffer Tara Reade filing a sexual misconduct complaint, DNC Chairman Tom Perez dismissed the idea as “absurd,” saying, “This is like the Hillary emails because there was nothing there.”

I doubt that I’m the only one who thought, “So you’re saying the records were there, but you erased them with BleachBit, then pounded the hard drives with a hammer?”

I’ll give Mr. Perez this much: the suggestion that this could be settled by letting the DNC investigate it is truly absurd. It’s like demanding that a fox investigate the security system on your henhouse.

I wrote last week that it’s common among conservatives to figure out what the left is doing by looking at what they’re accusing the right of doing. So as shocking as this news should be, it’s really not: A retired Army general who served under Obama is working with an anti-Trump Democratic PAC to utilize an information warfare tool funded by the Pentagon to fight ISIS propaganda in order to target social media sites that defend Trump.

For instance, targeting people who dared to refute the media claim that Trump told people to inject disinfectant (which, by the way, he didn’t do – and FYI, nobody paid me to say that, I just watched the press conference.)

If you want to know what this is really about, then as usual, look closely and the people behind it will tell you themselves. This is what they’re calling this blatant attempt to silence free speech and prevent corrections of their own fake news and propaganda: “Defeat Disinfo.”

Dis info should tell you who’s really pushing disinfo.

In response to Laura Ainsworth’s commentary on hydroxychloroquine, reader Ronald B. has sent in his own medical advisory, listing the side effects of a drug called “Leftyprog”…

"Leftyprog has been known to have unlimited side affects including, but not limited to: Socialitis; Econocollapse; Chaoticitis; Hyper Anxiety; Russian Collusion; Problems with breathing; Sudden Death or Disappearance; Heart Attack; Stroke; Extreme Outbursts of Anger; and Death. If any of these occur, please call your physician! Especially before Death!"

From Laura:

Thanks to all who wrote in with their own perspectives --- quite similar to mine --- including several MDs. You can bet we’ll be researching the new push for Remdesivir, including the curious patent situation for that drug. China? Really??

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

This retired Canadian watches the US political scene with great interest. Long into the night of November 2016 I watched captivated as the prior pronouncements of Hillary's victory were swept away as the Trump card played out. That adrenaline rush has led to an addiction that I unabashedly feed through such mediums as Fox, Huckabee and nameless others. We join our prayers with yours that our nations would be restored through revival. Blessings! T&L

Just watch; the cure for the coronavirus will come out of China and then China will be back in "everyone's" good graces. This whole scene is scaring me to death, never mind the virus.

Are Americans waking up? I hope and pray so! Are they waking up in huge masses to what Democrat-Socialism-Communism looks like? I hope so! Look around at the "Blue States" and see Government CONTROL over We the People. Are huge masses of people waking up to the evil Democrats agenda for November, to beat Trump and undo all the good things he has done. And no COVID-19 is not Trump's fault, but it is China's fault!!! (whether unintentional or intentional) Are huge masses of people seeing that trusting computer models to make decisions that affect the population is not wisdom, but maybe borderline stupidity, economically and otherwise? Are huge masses of people waking up to the Democrats pushing their New Green Deal and using computer models to predict our doom? Are huge masses of people waking up to NEVER VOTE FOR A DEMOCRAT EVER, EVER AGAIN? !!!!

The Dems say that on line ballots are great and we fear fraud by the Dems as usual and Dems say it is a Republican phobia , Well then I suggest we go on line to petition the recall or impeachment of the Governors of Michigan and Virginia, the Dems would have to agree that the petition is legal and enforceable ! I think this will force Dems to drop their demand for online balloting

I also give to the Samaritan's Purse. It is one of the most worthwhile organizations I have ever had the pleasure of supporting. I grew up in New York and this is not the NY that used to be. It is sad that anyone would say anything nasty about an organization because it is faith based. Sad what our world is coming to.

Politicians are demanding ID's for those who want to pray or use "essential" services, but they refuse to demand ID's for those who want to vote. Crazy!

Interesting about the Remdesivir . My sister-in-laws husbands cousin had COVID-19 in California. She has had liver issues since young childhood and a liver transplant in her 30’s. She was on the local news there. My sister in law told us she had both hydroxychloroquine and about 24 hours later the Remdesivir. She got better very quickly! I wonder how they know which drug made her better? Did she get better on her own? Was it the hydroxychloroquine? This is why with drugs we need to be careful! Just because its safe for one does not mean its safe for all. The physician oath is “do no harm”. Not that it is 100 percent attainable but nevertheless a star to shoot for. I think the Patient above all should be able to accept or decline treatment with direction from their own chosen primary care physician who understands their unique condition. Primary care is the hub of medical care. I don’t want universal government healthcare but I believe that Individual freedom should allow me the responsibility of possessing my own health record and a personal access card to all information as soon as it is entered in the system. Not 8 different health records at 8 different hospitals. No matter what they say the time doesn’t allow for communication of that health information. If I travel then huge problems. This is especially so with chronic illness, cancer, and rare diseases. A personal universal entry system would prevent auditing and altering health information. The patient’s record is updated as the information comes in and It can’t be changed without the patient knowing. Transparency matters! I say this as an RN that has seen many inaccurate documentations and forced documentation tactics in hospitals. I’ve had many reactions to medications that I now have to be forever cautious. I react crazy to so many meds bc I have a neurological congenital condition called Chiari Malformation 1, EDS, a soft connective tissue disease and POTS. I had brain decompression surgery as a treatment. I look fine and that is deceiving to many physicians. They don’t understand my disease so they look at my thick chart and treat me like a hypochondriac. It has almost killed me! Just a few days ago I was given reglan (antiemetic) for vomiting. I had seizure like tremors of all my limbs and severe burning inside my body. The drug states that .02 percent react like this. Well that percent is me and I never want it again. I had told the RN that I can’t have compazine because I get seizures with it. I asked her “even though you are giving this with benedryl is it similar to compazine?” She said no. The Doctor before discharge said it is similar to compazine! This med was worse for me than just fighting through it naturally at home. It usually gets better in a day with my chiari episodes but my diastolic bp was up to 109, they said it was probably due to the Excruciating brain pain. I made the huge mistake to go to the ER. I say this bc it only runs up unnecessary costs and gives me more radiation and reactions. So I left with treatment of fluids only and another cat scan with contrast (more radiation) bc they have to do one if there is a possibility of a stroke. Even though my neuro exam was fine. I have had so many CT’s it has to stop. If I decline then I get treated very poorly bc I look like I’m resisting treatment. My answer is better contact and direction from primary care bc they know their patients! There are 7,000 rare diseases and chiari malformation 1 is only a single disease with 200,000-250,000 in the US affected. In my opinion, Intelligence is the ability to change your mind after listening to the evidence and learning. The reason this doesn’t happen is lawsuits! I’m a strong proponent of the “I’m Sorry” policy that UofM adopted! It is proven to avoid law suits! Truth matters and trusting your physician to tell it to you matters! Most people will not sue if an apology is given and the appropriate covering of their bill. UofM has proven this. This policy Cuts down on over testing and over billing that arises from covering up mistakes of malpractice or incidences! I know this is opinion but I’ve been in the medical field since 1995 and I have seen and heard a lot! I just think the brightest minds could figure out how to make this work! Families with cancer do this. Parents are advocates for their children. Believe me they stop a lot of almost mistakes. They Document every treatment, dose, time, reaction, and medical person in the room etc.. Mayo Clinic has the patient or parent get a notebook. It’s exhausting and really a redo bc the hospital is suppose to do that? Patients and families know that when it comes to their family they must have their own medical record!
    God Bless!

Sweden suffered nearly as many infections and more fatalities than the other 4 Nordic countries combined, 22,700 to 24,900 infections but 2,770 to 957 deaths. Some say the lock downs in the other countries simply pushed the number of infections and fatalities out into the future. I doubt it. Diseases don't behave that way.

How does New York survive with so many idiots in charge of its programs. Are the voters asleep, drugged, or have the children been taught to be idiots. So many lunatics elected to prominent offices in the city and state of new york. The New Yorkers that I knew thru my sporting days were entertaining sharp and fun to be around they were confident good ballplayers attitudes that indicated they love life so how does New York end up with all these imbeciles leading the State. Who or what counts the votes after the polls shut down? Or did New York put imposters, out of state people to play ball for New York I cannot see those guys voting for the "elected officials" that make decisions for the State of New York Shameful. I see why the good people are leaving New York A nice place to visit now truly people do not want to live there the last couple of Generations built a fun town this Generation is letting it fall apart. Shameful low life new york. I liked the Old York 35 years ago. It has become a Adam Shitff City.

I am so glad you have this comment section. Even if no one actually reads this, it's a good place to vent. Today I saw my chiropractor and mentioned hydroxy...he says oh, that will kill you! I begged to differ and told him about the French doctor who has treated 1,000 patients and only lost 7 with hydroxy as the first line of defense, and the 7 had underlying conditions. I also told him about the doctor in Cedar-Sinai in California who has been treating lupus and rhuematoid arthritis patients for 42 years and has NEVER had a hospitalizion for side effects! Also menioned that the reason the internet says it kills people is due to the crazy fishtank cleaner story and apparently now, his wife is under suspicion for murder. Yes, THAT is dangerous! I'm so sick of the uninformed "professionals". It's obvious they don't watch Fox or OANN or Newsmax or the Drudge Report, etc. I am glad my regular doctor (Preventive Medicine Center) in Gainesville WILL get the combo cure for me if I ever get sick. He just said he has to go outside of Gainesville.

Gov., please consider the article from DailyMail.com from 5-4-2020 titled: "Is remdesivir REALLY a wonder drug for coronavirus patients? Doubts cast over experimental Ebola pill as another major study finds it has NO benefit for the infected---despite a separate study showing 'fantasic results'.
Please also know that on-going studies are still being done to establish the efficacy and overall safety of hydroxychloroquine + zinc in successfully treating COVID-19 patients seen soon enough.

I remember taking a shoe box and allowing my child to select its contents at Christmas. There was so much precious memories for me at least of giving that child box away And he wanted to know who got the box. >>>> I remember my Grandpa telling me of a young man from North Carolina who would have many jewels in his crown for he has brought many souls into the kingdom of God.>>> But, we did not know that (most probably) Mrs. Billy Graham was the one that reared those precious children and see what a great job she did keeping those little ones close to God's Word. I am so proud of Samaritans Purse. I am asking my Jesus to always keep his Holy Angels around this precious group. And I KNOW he will. The Mayor of Kansas City is an American Law Professor. I'm can't comprehend why a Law Professor would not see anything wrong with this issue.
I'm pretty hyper-sensitive on this issue as I have had good friends who had a tattoo'd ID number on their wrist. And my Father was a Combat Engineer who was on patrol and came across a concentration camp and the pictures he took were a pretty ugly reminder of human nature.
How soon are liberals at forgetting history is really sad, pathetic and disgusting.

Every church I've ever attended already has the names & addresses of everyone anyway. Visitors fill out cards & place in the offering plate. Someone sick? Well, the church prays for that person. No. It was a stupid effort to take control of the churches. How about Walmart taking the names & addresses of all their customers so they could be notified if one of the customers gets sick? How about grocery stores? Banks? etc. etc. etc.
