Evening Edition - February 1

February 1, 2019

This week’s sudden focus on the repulsive new abortion-to-the-moment-of-birth-and-even-beyond law passed in New York, the efforts of some politicians to impose it elsewhere, and the disgusting celebrations over it have sparked a lot of great comments from my newsletter and website readers.

I’ve been particularly moved by the messages written by parents of Down syndrome children, who are appalled at the thought that these precious gifts from God were as disposable as Kleenex, and that their lives would have been better if they’d simply thrown them away.  I want to make sure you see these comments, so I’m sharing three of them below.  I thank these parents deeply for sharing their heartfelt thoughts with all of us, and for giving love and life to their children.

As for my thoughts on the value of every human life, including Down syndrome children, I shared them on my TBN TV show last March.  Here is a video of that monologue, and sadly, it’s as timely now as it was nearly a year ago.

https://youtu.be/4wgQW0QFCgs

I’d also like to give a shout-out to a special friend of mine, Wendy Davis, who is Down Syndrome and in her thirties.  She is as beautiful a human being as I’ve ever known.  I’d much rather be around her than the leftists who don’t think she is worthy of life.  She brightens the day of everyone who is around her.

Dear Governor Huckabee:

On behalf of my wife, Anne, and myself, thank you for your beautiful comments regarding children with Down Syndrome and their right to life on The Story With Martha MacCallum. I have a beautiful 13 year daughter named Regan who has Down Syndrome. She was recently featured at the end of the March for Life 2019 video, Unique From Day One. We attended the March this year and had the thrill of having over 100,000 Pro Life people chanting “Regan Regan” as she was introduced on stage after the video was played. What a thrill for us as parents to see all the love pouring out for our daughter.

Again, thank you for your supportive comments in your interview, it meant a lot to us.

Lastly, we are big fans of your daughter, Sarah, as well. She does a terrific job! God Bless!

Thank you for your thoughts on late-term abortions especially when you you stated that the child with Downs Syndrome is as valuable as the football team captain. My wife and I were exited young parents at 23 years old when my first son was diagnosed with Down's Syndrome. We were so young and for many years it was very challenging for us. Kenny is now in his thirties and loved by almost all that come in contact with him. He is polite , thoughtful and so funny. I am amazed to watch him interact with all races without any biases or preconceptions. He sees the inner beauty in people unlike those set to out to dispose babies that are not perfect. He will never be a doctor but he could do a better job than some politicians. He is amazing! He is Fun! However, we may have never got to know how special Kenny is if we had the option of late term abortion. After-all we were young, ignorant, and impressionable and the pressure of society may have steered us in a different direction. Thank God , there wasn't that option to make a horrific mistake of aborting someone who today is so loved and special to so many people. Keep on fighting for what is Right!! Thank you so much!! ...Ken

Hi Governor Huckabee; I'm a mother of a 17 year old son with Down syndrome. My husband and I knew that our son, John, would be born with Down syndrome when I had a prenatel test done during pregnancy. When we received the news that John would be born with an extra chromosome, our doctor advised us that we had time to terminate and he said that he was sorry. We were devastated and sort spiritual help from our family and parish pastor. Our son was born healthy. We love him so much. I'm saddened that society today can even consider terminating these beautiful people. God put my son on this earth for a reason to show his family, friends and strangers that life is special and joyful. He shows that to me every day. I could never see life without him. I pray to God that future mothers that are given the diagnosis of Down syndrome while carrying their beautiful babies will consider life rather than a poor medical excuse to terminate their pregnancy. Thank you Governor Huckabee;

Let’s also throw a big salute to actor Ashton Kutcher, for having the guts and the moral character to risk his career in Hollywood to take a stand for the sanctity of life.  In a Facebook post he titled, “Everyone’s life is valuable,” he shared a video of Special Olympian and actor Frank Stephens speaking before Congress in 2017 about the tragic trend of women being encouraged to abort babies with Down syndrome.

Stephens told Congress that “the people pushing this particular 'final solution' are saying that people like me should not exist,” but "whatever you learn today, please remember this: I am a man with Down syndrome and my life is worth living."

There’s much more at the link.  Please click to watch the full inspiring video and read the whole story.  If you’ve seen it before, then watch it again.  It’s a message that desperately needs to be stated over and over at this dark moment in history, when some people are abusing government power to devalue human life.  And thanks to Ashton Kutcher, for bravely using his popular social media platform to spread this message, which has now generated over 100,000 shares.

The Southern Poverty Law Center (which claims to be a monitor of “hate groups,” but which I believe is possibly the best-funded hate group in America) already had to pay a $3.375 million settlement to a group that opposes Islamic extremism for falsely labeling it as an “extremist group.” That emboldened other mainstream Christian and conservative groups that have been defamed by the SPLC to prepare legal actions.  But one particular new lawsuit must really have the SPLC quaking (I won’t call them Quakers, since they probably think that’s a hate group, too.)

A Baltimore attorney who was branded as a “neo-Nazi lawyer” by the SPLC is suing them on nine counts, including not only defamation but racketeering (under the RICO Act), mail and wire fraud, making false statements on tax forms and other violations.  The attorney says the SPLC's article attacking him referenced documents stolen from a white nationalist group for which the SPLC paid.

Receiving and paying for stolen documents is not only illegal, it’s an ethics violation that could cost the SPLC its 501c3 “public interest group” status.  Being accused of bias and libel apparently doesn’t faze them, but the thought of losing their tax-exempt status must have terrified them because they’ve just hired one of the best defamation defense attorneys in America.  I’m sure he’s also one of the most expensive, so all you donors to the SPLC should know that the money you give to fight “hate” is not only being spent to mislabel and destroy legitimate mainstream religious and conservative groups but also to defend the SPLC’s right to break the law while doing it.

In its latest smackdown of Vladimir Putin, the Trump Administration announced that the US will withdraw from the 1987 Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty with Russia.  Both the Trump Administration and the EU accuse Russia of violating the arms treaty for years, and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo warned in December that the US would withdraw in 60 days if Russia didn’t stop violating it. It looks as if Trump is making good on his threat.

You know, if Putin really is Trump’s “puppet master” as Democrats keep telling us, he sure is doing a lousy job of keeping his strings untangled.

Despite worries about the government shutdown harming the economy (because we all know that the government fuels the economy and not the other way around), U.S. employers added a whopping 304,000 jobs in January, far more than expected.  Wages also rose by three cents an hour, for a one-year average 3.2% increase, or 85 cents an hour.

Someone tell Cory Booker that if he’s really running for President because he wants to create a country “where parents can put food on the table; where there are good-paying jobs with good benefits in every neighborhood,” then he doesn’t have to go to the bother.  Trump is already doing that for him.

More news you were never supposed to see: President Trump recently held a roundtable discussion with Hispanic pastors from all over the US.  One of them, Pastor Ramiro Peña, presented Trump with a letter of support from 150 Hispanic Evangelical leaders and said this:

“One thing you have not done, Mr. President, is manufacture a humanitarian crisis. It's real and although many people began to declare repeatedly that this is a 'manufactured' crisis, being a pastor from Texas, I can tell you the human suffering that's been going on for many decades has hit a fever pitch, and I'm grateful that you have shown leadership to recognize it, to call it out and to actually do something about it.”

Miami Pastor Guillermo Maldonado said, “We’re here to support you, Mr. President. You know, there’s misconception in the public, thinking that our community is for illegal immigration. There’s a misconception also that we want open borders. And dealing with people every single day, I see that our community supports what you’re doing…That misconception that Spanish people want open borders, they want no laws, that’s not true. We’re here to support you, and what you’re doing is great. The lowest unemployment for Spanish people — 4 percent — that’s incredible. We pray for you.”

The Media Research Center notes that the Washington Times was one of the few media outlets that covered this event.  Not a single national Spanish-language newscast covered it. Gee, I wonder why?

It appears that the Democrats still refuse to learn the lesson of Hillary Clinton’s loss in 2016: Just because your friends in the media refuse to cover your problems (Trump’s popularity, Hillary’s unlikability, her weakness in the Rust Belt, her ethical and security violations with her email server, etc.), that doesn’t mean they disappear.  In fact, liberal media bias actually does a disservice to Democrats by leaving them misinformed, unprepared, overconfident and shocked when their chickens come home to roost.

Also From The “Much Ado About Nothing” Desk:  The New York Times ran an interview Thursday with President Trump in which he said that outgoing Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein assured his attorneys that he was "not a subject" or "target" in the Mueller investigation.  He also denied discussing the proposed Trump Tower in Moscow project late into his campaign and said he never spoke to his longtime adviser Roger Stone about WikiLeaks.

Cue the countdown for Adam Schiff to start demanding an investigation to comb through Stone’s phone records, text messages and carrier pigeon scrolls.

---------------------------------

At the link, Mark Theissen makes the case for former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz running for President – not because he has a chance of winning as an Independent, because that won’t happen.  But because his criticisms of the Democrats might force them to pull back from their lurch to the loony-left, such as embracing socialist giveaway schemes that would cost $42.5 trillion (double the national debt), all ludicrously paid for by taxing the “tippy-top” earners.

https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/marc-thiessen-this-is-the-person-who-would-do-us-a-great-service-by-running-for-president

Here’s the problem: if he runs and attacks the Democrats from the right, he might also draw votes away from Trump.  And if he pulls a Perot and helps elect a Democrat, how long do you think any of their campaign promises not to govern like a loony leftist would last?  For reference, I draw your attention to New York, where the new Democratic majority has been in power for all of one month and has already legalized killing babies in the ninth month of pregnancy.

The abortion laws smack of Nazi Germany, getting rid of anyone deemed imperfect. The left should be publicly compared to the Nazis.

Regarding your comment about Spanish television in your Hispanic pastors commentary.

Last year, I spent a month living with my mother. She is a Hispanic 90 year old who was born in Texas. Her Spanish is limited, so she watches Univision and Telemundo for her news source.
It did not take melong to realize that both networks, without a doubt, are heavy into indoctrination I compared their broadcasts to reliable news sources and there is no doubt in my mind that their entire purpos to portray Trump as aracist and dictator.
Sadly, too many Hispanics believe what they say. I sat with mother during dinner more than once and clarified what the actual truth was when discussing the broadcasts for that day. My mother admitted that she was not aware of what both Univision and Telemundo are doing.
As a Hispanic, I find it disgusting that a Spanish network wouold take advantage of other Hispanics in order to further their agenda. But, then again, look at the American mainstream media.

I was and "advanced maternal age" mom. The OB suggested I have an amniocentesis which I didn't want because of the complications--however so slight. He said that Downs syndrome is more likely in older moms. My response was--well, I wouldn't do anything about the pregnancy even if there is a chance of Downs, so it would be stupid to have the test. All of the Downs Syndrome people I have known are the nicest, the kindest, the most sympathetic, actually the most sensitive to the moods of others. They are happy, they are glad to have a job--and take extreme pride in doing the best doggone job possible. We could all take a page from their book about how to live. I don't think they have an ounce of intolerance in their bodies--they don't care who or what you are, your race, creed, color, sexual orientation, etc, they just like you because you are a human being.

Evidently my sisters found information regarding SPLC among my brother's effects, and either he supported this organization, or they assumed he did. His obit noted to make memorial donations to SPLC--I just couldn't bring my self to do it. That was 3 1/2 years ago, and the SPLC has drastically gone downhill even since that time. They are among the groups who go out looking for trouble, and, IMO, if they can't find it--they'll manufacture it.

    Hi Gov Huckabee,
One issue regarding all of the hoop-la around late term abortions I have not heard a peep about is the father's rights. Everyone is talking about a mother's rights but what about the father. What if a mother wants to abort her 9 month old baby because she broke up with her boyfriend/husband and she decides to abort the baby but the father wants to keep it. From what I understand about the laws being passed, the father would have no say in the killing of the baby. Wow, talk about a war against men. I saw a bunch of men at the Women's March and I thought to myself, don't they realize they are giving up their rights. It is their baby too. Men should be standing up for their right to decide what happens to their child.
    Keep up the great work!

Thank you so much for your stand against abortion. Every conception is a work of God, created in His image. I firmly believe that the only right a woman has is to bear a child. God has neve given women the right to abort and any stage. King David writes in Psalm 139:13-16 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me om my mother's womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and couriously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

When Michael, the "middle" son of our three sons was born, his Mom-wife of 59 years and counting-noticed something "different" about his nursing! I, a "macho"man and Surgeon, kind of "poopooed" this. Michael was evaluated by pediatric neurologist and determined to be "special". The pediatrician suggested putting him in an "institution"! We were insulted! Michael IS our son! We are honored to be his earthly parents! He brings joy to us and those who get to know him and he know them! He has lived with us 56 years! He is my constant companion as much as possible!
You know all the "uproar" about boycotting North Carolina because of the no men in women's rest rooms "law"! I suggest we boycott New York because they have legalized homicide/"premeditated murder" in legalizing abortion at time of birth! We will boycott New York!
    Thank you!

What the states of New York and Virginia are doing regarding the death of babies even at the time of birth is nothing more than MURDER IN THE FIRST DEGREE and should be so treated! When these politicians stand up and pretend to be quoting the Bible they should learn to do so as it is written, not as they want to write it! I am appalled at these two states and pray to God that no other state goes this far! They may want to start worrying about the wrath of God for what they are doing and how they are behaving! May God have mercy on their souls!
I have a friend who has a Down Syndrome son who has reached the age of somewhere in his 50's and he is a delight! Such a caring man, loving, great sense of humor. When I lived in their area he often visited my mother and husband when I was at work, and when my husband passed away, he cried so hard! He is loved by all in the area and brings much joy to all!
God bless you Gov and your wonderful daughter, may she continue to uphold her beliefs and those of our President, both of whom deserve our prayers every day!

The GOP continue to do a horrible job educating the voters on what the actual policies of the DNC, the party of death, stand for. Why are they not running ads all over the MSM letting voters know this. Unlike Hannity, I believe the majority of American voters are ignorant and just push the party button they normally push with no clue what they are really voting for. Do you really think anyone who only watches the MSM has any clue what is going on at the border? Do you really think these same ill informed people have any clue what the DNC policy on abortion is. I'm not referring to the fools in or just out of college and the indoctrination they were fed, I'm talking about the adults.

Die-hard President Trump supporter, served in the USAF and Twitter suspended my account - it was a news article I shared. Tried signing up again & Twitter wanted my cell phone number so they could call me? Like I have anything in common with Jack or leftists at Twitter. Refuse to participate in their data mining. Facebook forced me to remove an article from the paper about how many illegals entering our nation with chickenpox & other diseases. Had to agree to remove the news article or they would close my account. Our 1A is under attack - the leftists have free speech but not us. President Trump, Sen. Cruz and Rep. Jordan need to know this as it is being done to silence us in the 2020 election. My conservative ‘friends’ on FB, whom I have never met, are having similar experiences. Love your daughter and your humor and articles. I have been silenced by the Gestapo and felt compelled to contact you. Thank you and God bless you and our nation.
