Both the federal government and New York State are taking actions to prevent people from having their homes foreclosed due to inability to make mortgage payments during the virus shutdown.

I hope you’re not one of those folks who rushed out and bought up a carload of toilet paper (fun fact: the average person uses only 100 rolls in an entire year.) If so, then you can skip this story. But if you were caught with no Charmin to squeeze and can’t find any in stores yet, here is a list of alternatives to toilet paper that are safe to flush (surprisingly, they claim that “flushable wipes” are not safe to flush. Seems rather misleading.)

If you do have toilet paper, but want to make it last, count on American ingenuity to quickly launch a website that helps you calculate exactly how long your supply will last, based on your personal…uh…habits. That is, if you want to share that information with a website. Although I'm sure some people have already put it on Facebook.

The Gov. felt compelled to answer this letter from Tavane:

Governor, I was with you right up until you said "Goodness knows, that’s a more productive use of funds than just passing out money to everyone." Though it may not make a difference to you, I know many, many families who are in dire straights right now because, like many Americans, they live from paycheck to paycheck and have no reserve funds set aside to buy extras to get them through the shutdown of this country. If they do have a 401k or other savings/retirement accounts you can't just get money out of them when you want to as they have special governing rules to them highly inaccessible and also bear steep penalties if withdrawals are made. These citizens also have children who are not going to school now and they also have jobs that need them there so now have to pay for daycare of some sort so they can keep their jobs. I usually find your comments uplifting but to negate the fact that American's need financial help right now to make it through is very negative and unworthy of a man of your stature.

From the Gov:

Good heavens, Tavane, I never said or even meant to imply that the government shouldn’t offer financial assistance to people who are hurting. I said “JUST passing out money to everyone.” People in many industries are devastated right now and need help. To cite just one example, my staff and I know many in the music business (most of whom struggle to stay afloat during normal conditions) who have lost ALL their work for the foreseeable future and are at a complete loss as to what to do and how to survive. I share all of your concerns. You are right about all of this --- except the part where you say I “negate” the fact that people need help.

What I was saying is that we have to find a medical solution to this because we can’t JUST pass out money forever. That alone is a terrible long-term plan, because if we just print billions and even trillions of dollars while everyone stays home indefinitely, we surely will end up like Venezuela. But, yes, of course, we must help Americans who are hurting right now.

Still, we have to find a cure and/or a vaccine that will allow us to get back to work --- and to stay at work with no threat of a "second wave." The longer that takes, the bigger the pit we'll have to dig out of. In the meantime, though, we certainly have to help each other get through this and come out the other side.

Is Your Microwave Cupcake Russian Propaganda?

By “Huckabee” writer/pop culture guru Pat Reeder (

We’re sure that many of you who are stuck at home with the kids are turning to YouTube to hunt for easy gourmet recipes, quick fun crafts to distract the rug rats, or just tips to make your harried life easier. You will find tens of thousands of them, but be warned: not only are many of them complete lies, but many are literally Russian propaganda.

This video exposing the story was posted yesterday:

It’s by a channel called “How To Cook That” started by a food scientist. She began by offering recipe videos, then moved into videos debunking fake “life hack” videos, like the idea that you can stir some ingredients into a mug, throw it into the microwave for 60 seconds, and pull out a gourmet cupcake (spoiler alert: no, you can’t.) Or that it’s easy to make a dirty sneaker look like new -- if you replace it with a new sneaker (look closely, and you’ll see the video makers were sloppy enough to use an “after” sneaker that’s a different size from the “before” sneaker.)

This latest video reveals that thousands of these videos from channels with millions of subscribers and billions of views are all cranked out by a shadowy Russian content farm interested only in maximizing views to boost ad profits, not in telling the truth or making your life easier. This same producer has even created a few political videos, like one predicting the Russian takeover of Europe and another predicting the decline of America (see the 18:00 mark on the linked video.) Amazingly, sites such as Facebook and Google/YouTube that are stringent about banning conservatives for anything remotely questionable allow these videos to remain online. Some are even dangerous (no, you CANNOT turn a red strawberry into a white strawberry by soaking it in bleach. It gets whiter, but do NOT eat it! It's full of bleach!)

YouTube is filled with great videos showing real crafts and recipes. For instance, EmmyMadeInJapan is one of our favorite legit channels; and Emmy’s new video is about how to make an easy, delicious pasta dish from things in your pantry, including ketchup:

Before you try anything you see on YouTube, check out a few of the other “How To Cook That” exposes of channels such as “Five Minute Crafts.” Be skeptical and remember that if it looks too easy to be true, it probably is. Otherwise, you might end up wasting time and money, injuring yourself or your kids, or having to scrape an explosion of burned-on yuck out of your microwave.

Movie theaters are asking Washington for loan guarantees, tax breaks and emergency funds to help them survive the shutdown caused by the coronavirus. They’d better pray that President Trump doesn’t say, “Okay, I’ll consider that, but first let me check to see what Hollywood’s been saying about me for the past few years…”

For Future (or Distant Past) Reference: If you are ordered to stay inside to keep from spreading the coronavirus, that does not mean it's okay to go outside, as long as you're dressed as a Tyrannosaurus Rex.

If your kids are going stir-crazy (and driving you crazy) being stuck at home, why not let them use their time productively by learning to draw, with free lessons on YouTube from award-winning children’s book illustrator, Mo Willems?

Blood ran down the FACE of this MAN, if one dare call HIM that.
He had been scourged & upon HIM they spat.
Tradition says, "they placed HIM into a Muddy Pit.
There HE sat with Mud & Blood---, Body Excrement & Spit.
HE Smelled & Ached & Throbbed & with determination set His Face.
For His mind was set upon our Salvation & the following element of Grace.
HE had been a servant, & the voices of angry men rang through HIS ears.
He had cried in the garden & His Body was covered in His very own Tears.
His Beard had been plucked and His Face was torn down to the Bone.
In HIS silence, he was hot and sweaty & all alone.
Your sins and my sins were placed firmly upon HIS Back.
It was the most horrible day, yet, this Man's Peace was in tact.
He silently remembered, "THIS IS MY SON & IN HIM I AM WELL PLEASED..
Just by remembering HIS FATHER'S Affirmation, His Sorrow & Pain within was eased.
When we take for granted our Salvation, just remember it came to us at GREAT COST.
The Savior was seeing the Field Saved and NOT the Field Lost.

These multi-million "entertainers could easily pass the "plate" and give money to the less fortunate entertainers, and the people in the theaters, not just the owners but the employees of the theaters. Same goes for the sports teams, the concession people that work for low wagers and could use some of the money overpaid entertainers and sports jocks get. thanks

Governor Huckabee, I consider myself an intelligent person. I am college educated, I am an accountant by trade, so I cannot for the life of me figure out why the Senate cannot bifurcate the stimulus package and just get a portion passed that directly helps individuals and families, along with small businesses? Since the "slush fund" as the left calls it seems to be the sticking point, table that for 24 hours and keep negotiations going out of the Senate chamber. I would love your thoughts on this.

I am leaving a complicated physics question for students whom like a Challenge. In November 1976 James Earl Carter was elected president of the United States. In January 1977 James Earl Carter was inaugurated as president. The national death penalty was abolished during part of James Earl Carter's first of one term presidency. In November 1980 Ronald Wilson Reagan defeated James Earl Carter and several other candidates with significant numbers of votes. Ronald Wilson Reagan was inaugurated in January of 1981 to his number 1 term. Ronald Wilson Reagan continued his first term until January of 1985. Ronald Wilson Reagan was inaugurated to his number 2 term in 1985. The book "1984" was a book about firefighters, escape, concern for state policies and the (dangers and advantages) that can occur from large televisions. At what time would (meteors from Mars or Jupiter) or (satellites orbiting the earth) or (satellites orbiting the (earth and moon) or (plasma ejections from Sol (common name the sun)) have need to strike so that the remaining ballots in states, islands, territories, the District of Columbia (common name Washington DC) or other US regions resulted in James Earl Carter winning the November 1980 election?

That person claiming you cannot make cupcakes in a mug in your microwave isn’t telling the truth or hasn’t tried it. I’ve done it several times and it does work. The ingredients are the same just scaled way back to a single size. Some recipes are better than others. I will also say, after watching numerous videos on quick fixes or 5 minute crafts that many are really good ideas but like anything else on You Tube, such as CNN, you have to verify the information.

I just cannot fathom why he democrat/progressives cannot or will not recognize how much they are hurting their fellow Americans (which may be the wrong words "fellow Americans") since all they think of is themselves NOT the people they represent. Please I beg of you, unite so we can all have an active part in bringing America back to greatness. PLEASE PASS THE CORONAVIRUS BILL for everyone's benefit.

Staying inside is a blast: beeing doing it for some time now....Actually getting the husband to do those things around the house (hahahaha) because he is bored out of his mind. Might even get thos birdhouses made that I've been waiting on for a decade (I know I prayed for patience, but that?)!

Mike, it is true that so-called "flushable wipes" should NOT be flushed. That is especially true for people who have septic tanks rather than sewer connections. I have also read that authorities at sewage treatment facilities are urging their customers not to flush wipes. They simply do not break down easily and clog both sewer lines and treatment equipment.
My wife and I conserve toilet paper by using after-market bidets. I installed them on both our downstairs toilets and they not only conserve toilet paper but also are more hygienic. The manufacturers are currently unable to keep up with the demand as more people realize the advantages. Price gouging is happening on those devices just as it is on so many other items.
    Be safe,
    Doc Corbin

An excerpt from your response as follows, "because if we just print billions and even trillions of dollars while everyone stays home indefinitely, we surely will end up like Venezuela. " That reminds me of super-inflation, or hyper-inflation, which means that, by printing this trillions on the right sort of paper, we will have a solution to the toilet paper shortage that will be doubly pleasing to the hoarders and the socialists.

I still don't know how Tavane could have read negativity into your comment regarding DC cranking out money in unlimited amounts.
On the plus side: My wife and I are 77 and 78 and retired. We have a cabinet full of games, particularly Scrabble and Rummikub, at which we're evenly matched. We also have a yard full of chores and the normal accumulation of things needing everything from polishing to repairing. Interspersed with that, we have closets, drawers, file cabinets, a garage, photo albums, recipe books and an attic all in need of being cleaned out and organized! We even held our own 2 person Bible Study on Sunday during our normal church hours. Bored? Not a chance!

03/22/2020 11:22 PM response to your helpful suggestion about figuring out how many rolls of toilet paper one uses, may I ADD to your suggestion? Thank you....

Since, in an emergency situation like this, there ARE things we can do to improvise, what one of those "improvisations" could be is....lining a hamper with a garbage bag so you can use napkins, instead OF toilet paper, and that way you don't have to worry if it is going to flush or not....AND you can hang one of those clip deodorizers on the inside of the hamper!

One might want to try using napkins for a day and count THEM and then buy as many napkins one wants to use for a backup for x number of months. AND, if one runs out of toilet paper, and has stockpiled paper towels, one can use a sheet of paper towel instead of a napkin!

Now if stores begin to run out of hampers...because people READ some of these comments....LIKE this one....then, maybe, you will learn that more people read your newsletters than you think!

AND if this suggestion proves to be an ingenious one, I want YOU to get the credit for it! I mean the ad could read, "Mike Huckabee's genius ways of uncovering we can dispose of all the garbage 'waste' that comes WITH it... ...reaches an all time high as he has solved the toilet paper crisis! This man's genius really needs to be used now to replace....thereby disposing.... the garbage of the late night shows, including Saturday Night Live, because this Huckabee is really on a 'roll' !"

An honest person can do a better job of judging who has need of handouts . Many can't take a life that isn't smooth and comfortable at all times, and they want more than they earn even though they could budget, and do well enough. I hope very much that government will be wise and help the helpless poor, and they can do a better job of it if they choose carefully.

My response to this toilet paper drama is, don't be so dam greedy when buying at the stores..Second, if you cant find TP their are other alternates. For example, using paper towels..their are more paper towels in stores than their is TP..Also use napkins and baby wipes they work just as well..if all this fails, go back to the day using other means to wipe your booty before TP was invented.

This bail-out crap has gone far enough.
Unless Martial Law has been declared--no Gov't has the right to close a personal business--they can ask, but not demand. Every State Constitution(including the US) does NOT have emergency powers to close citizen's livelihood due to what "they" think is justifiable----in particular a "pandemic". Each document specifically describes "natural" disasters(floods/storms/earthquakes) or "technological/acts of aggression" ie. an attack-----READ the STATUTES---the "flu" is not identified--nor should it be.
Because the gov't has asked folks to "shelter" or businesses to "curtail" DOES NOT give them the right to demand MY federal tax dollars to pay them for their lack of preparation.
Am I expected to 'pay' for the hotels who have lower than expected bookings???
Next thing we know, everyone will be screaming for the gov't to reimburse them for their losses in the stock market---

You want to know what it will be like if the dem left gets in power?? take a look at the current situation--we will see congressional bills and media blasts that the Country is in jeopardy because of Kavanaugh and Gorsuches' rulings--calls for $ in compensatory damages by schumer/pelosi--they are waiting in the wings til they can emerge with the demands---
Until this "flu" kills more than the 230,000 H1N1 that obama/biden let slide, I'll object to the current response.

Tavane, Tah-vah-nay, Tah-Vane, however, appears to be afflicted with liberal comprehension syndrome. They only hear one thing and because they want it to be negative, they spin it that way and cease all other brain functions that would clarify them a cognitive. Regarding the passing out of money. All of the essential people that have to stay on the job may or may not require financial assistance. Also, retirees (like myself) who's income is not dependent on going to work may or may not require financial assistance. One major problem with government programs is that they treat most things like "one size fits all", and that is seldom if ever the case. We must use "hand out" funds wisely.

Dear Governor Huckabee, Wouldn't it be better to send money to each state for unemployment to give every person unemployed $1,000.00 a month. There are many who are able to work from home and may not be adversely affected by the Coronavirus. That way it goes to those who need it? Thereby sending fewer people money and you can give those who need it more.

A China plan perpetuated by the overly liberal, Trump hating media and aided by the deep state to bring down the US economy and thus, President Donald Trump. Will it be successful? I pray daily that the general voting public can see through this.
