Either Wall Street elites are out of their minds, whistling past the graveyard, or else just extremely confident of their ability to buy off Rep. Maxine Waters (not an unreasonable assumption, considering her history). You make the call after reading these two stories side-by-side:

From Bloomberg business news, a story about how the bankers are warming up to the idea of Mad Maxine becoming the chair of the House Financial Services Committee, and think all the worries about having a raving, angry leftwinger in the job are more headlines than reality.

Huck PAC invests in critical races

By Mike Huckabee

My political action committee Huck PAC is a grassroots organization that relies solely on the financial support of individuals and our endorsements reflect their views.

Yesterday we invested in Ron DeSantis' campaign for Florida Governor, John James' campaign for US Senate in Michigan and five new US House races.  This year, Huck PAC has donated $231,300 directly to candidates (10 US Senate races, 32 US House races and 33 state races).

For a full list of our endorsements and donations please go here >>>

At the end of this week, we will announce another round of endorsements and donations.

One woman's view: Why did media drop Kavanaugh story like a hot potato?

By Laura Ainsworth

During these last interminable days before the midterm elections --- I voted early for the first time because I knew I’d be out of town on Election Day --- it seemed like a good idea to get away from the mind-numbing stream of poll numbers and partisan spin and find something else in the news to catch up on.

I know!  How about the Brett Kavanaugh case?

That’s all people were talking about for weeks, from mid-September through the first week in October.  I wrote at length about it.  So did everybody else.  The news cycle was completely dominated; God knows what else was going in the world, because it wouldn’t have been on anybody’s radar screen.  The confirmation process ended with protesters losing what was left of their tiny minds, literally pounding on heavy, locked doors and screaming “Rapist!!” at the top of their lungs as Kavanaugh became the new face and judicial perspective on the Supreme Court.  It was horrifying, bizarre and embarrassing.

Trump order will end "catch and release"

By Mike Huckabee

President Trump announced that next week, he will unveil a comprehensive executive order to reform immigration policy and stop those who abuse the welcoming nature of Americans by crossing our borders illegally in large numbers.

The order will call for ending the so-called “catch and release” policy in which people caught entering the US illegally are released on this side of the border with a date for a court hearing that most are less likely to show up for than a Trump rally.  Instead, Trump said that people apprehended coming in illegally will be housed in tent cities or detention centers until their case is heard by authorities.  He added that “Asylum is not a program for people living in poverty.”  Asylum is meant for people who would be in danger if we didn’t take them in, not people who would rather be here than where they are now.

Naturally, there are already howls from the left about the inhumanity of tent cities and threats to challenge the order legally, but Trump insists that it is absolutely legal.

Again, I know I’m getting old because I remember when sneaking across the border did not automatically grant you a right to stay in America.  We also didn’t used to think that staying temporarily in tents was unspeakably inhumane, since we expected our troops to do it.  Come to think of it, we still do.
