In my essay on socialism and why it stinks like last month’s leftover halibut, I noted that when the government provides services for you, you have no choice; but under capitalism, even the biggest corporation can be brought to its knees by its customers if it doesn’t please them.  Little did I know that within 24 hours, I’d have an example of that.

"Huckabee" preview

By Mike Huckabee

If you missed Saturday's brand new episode of "Huckabee" on TBN (or just want to see it again, which you will), remember the show airs again on Sundays at 8 and 11 pm EST (7 and 10 Central).  This week, I welcome Rep. Trey Gowdy and Sen. Tim Scott to discuss  the news of the day and their new book "Unified," about how to heal the divisions that are ripping America apart.  I also talk religious freedom with Mat Staver of Liberty Counsel and check in with actress Janine Turner and her organization that helps Americans of all ages learn about and appreciate the Constitution.  The  winners of her group's contest for best patriotic song, the Jeff Lewis Band, will perform their winning entry, "Land of Dreams."  I also have music from rising country-gospel star, Chris Golden (you might know his dad, William Golden of the Oak Ridge Boys.)  All that, plus a lot more fun and surprises.  And if you have teenagers, especially teenagers who have been bullied or who spend a lot of time on social media, be sure to get them in front of the TV for my monologue, which contains an important message that I hope resonates with them.  For a local channel locator to watch TBN (and to stream previous episodes online), visit

Blacked-out document dump of FISA applications confirms suspicions

By Mike Huckabee

Before discussing the significance of the “document dump” of 412 heavily redacted pages concerning the FISA applications for warrants to spy on Carter Page, it’s important to talk about something else revealed over the weekend that actually confirms suspicions of high-level collusion with a Russian agent.

Unbelievably, Maria Butina, the 29-year-old woman who was just indicted on charges of conspiracy and acting as an agent of the Russian Federation without notifying our government, was able to get meetings with both the vice president of the Fed and with the undersecretary for international affairs at the U.S. Treasury.

Clueless in the Bronx

By Mike Huckabee

I received a thoughtful response to my recent post of a friend’s parody song lyrics about Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (“I’m Just A Wide-Eyed Socialist”), defending socialism and using Finland as an example of a place where socialism works. To show that I do read the comments and appreciate the chance to have a friendly discussion with people who disagree, I thought I would write about the rise in popularity of socialism among American Democrats, particularly young ones.

First, I’d note that one of the most shocking things about Ms. Ocasio-Cortez is not that someone who’s an avowed socialist would win a Democratic Congressional primary in New York (sadly, not a surprise at all), but that someone with an economics degree (!) would not only embrace socialism, but prove to be so clueless on so many aspects of Econ 101, such as thinking that the unemployment rate is only low because “everyone has two jobs” (A. They don’t; and B. Having multiple jobs doesn’t affect how your employment is counted.)

"Death to America"

By Mike Huckabee

For eight years, Iran’s leaders chanted “Death to America,” threatened the US and Israel, and brutally crushed public uprisings against them, and the Obama Administration responded with looks of measured concern, a sweetheart nuclear deal never approved by the Senate and a literal planeload of cash.

Last week, Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani pulled the same tactics with President Trump, threatening to block the Strait of Hormuz, through which Middle Eastern oil is shipped, if Trump escalates sanctions on Iran, and warning that any US hostility to Iran would result in the “mother of all wars."
