Sunday, two teenage males were injured in a drive-by shooting right outside of New York GOP gubernatorial candidate Lee Zeldin’s home in Shirley, Long Island.

His two 16-year-old daughters were inside doing their homework, and they hid in a closet and dialed 911. One bullet was found to have struck within 30 feet of where they were. Thank God, they were uninjured, and the two victims will recover. Zeldin said he returned home to find that his porch was a blood-stained crime scene. He had been standing on it exactly 24 hours before, giving an interview about the problem of rising crime in New York. He didn’t realize his own home was about to become the latest illustration of the dangerous consequences of Democrat "justice" policies.

In a couple of related stories, Democrat Governor of Illinois J.B. Pritzker admitted that the controversial SAFE-T Act, which eliminates cash bail (one of the main reasons why criminals in blue cities are being repeatedly arrested and released), may need to have its language tweaked.

Pritzker condescendingly said he’s willing to consider “tweaks” because of people “who do not understand the SAFE-T Act and are misrepresenting it. So making changes to the language is such, so that people will understand." Among the poor dummies who oppose the Act because they apparently just can’t understand the language are politicians and law enforcement officials statewide, including 100 of Illinois’ 102 state attorneys.

Finally, the leaders of Democrat-run St. Louis (whose last Republican mayor left office in 1949) know who to blame for the rising epidemic of car thefts. They’re threatening to sue Hyundai and Kia for making their cars too easy to steal.

I wonder if this applies to all the other things that criminals in St. Louis are finding easy to steal? If so, the Democrat politicians should sue themselves, because they’re the ones who made it so easy.

You know, there used to be this thing that kept people from stealing even things that were easy to steal. It was called “Morality.” When that failed, there was a backup plan: “Jail.” The Democrats got rid of both of those things, and look where we are now.
