A while back, I made my “official” prediction of who the 2020 Democratic Presidential nominee would be. If you recall, it was…(drum roll, please)...

Michelle Obama.

As far as I know, I’m the first to have made this prediction, and in light of recent developments, I continue to stand by it. Michelle says she’s not running, but this certainly isn’t the first time we’ve had to consider what the meaning of “is” is. She WILL be running. I think at one point she also said she has no INTENTION of running, but that’s always subject to change, so it means nothing. Michelle is bound to have done some of her own polling, so she won’t be surprised by this:

Right now, Michelle O ties with former Vice President Joe Biden as the top choice among Democratic voters, according to a Hill-HarrisX poll released on Tuesday. She gets the support of 25 percent who say they’d support her over nine other declared or potential candidates, including Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker, California Sen. Kamala Harris, Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, former Texas Rep.“Beto” O’Rourke (who lost to Ted Cruz this time around despite a massive surge of cash), NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Amy Klobuchar, and Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown.

When factoring in the independent voters, who get to vote in many state primaries, Obama and Biden are still just about tied, with 22 and 23 percent, respectively, which is within the margin of error. Biden hasn’t yet said whether he will get into the race, but some sources “close to him” have said he’s closer to running than he was a few weeks ago.

Still, it’ll be Michelle. I have a long list of reasons, updated from before, none of which have anything to do with policy. (Every one of these people would be disastrous from a policy standpoint.) So, here we go…

Commentary continues below advertisement

--- (Most important) She’s perceived by Dems as someone who will beat Donald Trump.

–- She’s a ROCK STAR within the Democratic Party.

–- She’s a rock star with the mainstream news media (meaning almost all media).

–- She’s a rock star with popular culture (note the crowd loving her at the Grammy Awards).

–- She’s guaranteed to have the support of other cultural icons, such as Oprah Winfrey.

–- She can get on the cover of every magazine from now till Election Day if she wants to.

--- She can get one softball interview after another anywhere she wants.

--- She’ll be seen as palatable to Republican/moderate women who don’t like Trump.

–- She’s a rock star with young women, who will work tirelessly for her.

--- Young men will also work tirelessly for her, to please young women.

--- She and former President Obama have a huge power network and tremendous $$$$.

--- She has tons of experience on the campaign trail and as a speaker.

–- She has virtually no negatives, having never run for elective office before.

–- She has a likable personality and is highly educated (Princeton, Harvard Law).

--- She’s relatively young and seems extremely healthy. Must be the veggies.

--- She’s very tall. (Hey, statistically, tall candidates have an advantage.)

–- She is a black female. (Face it, given another option, Democrats WILL NOT choose a white male.)

–- Joe Biden is a white male.

–- He is 197 years old.

--- He’s had countless gaffes and has been way too hands-y with women and young girls.

–- Bernie Sanders is a white male.

–- He is 239 years old.

–- He’s a socialist (no wait; that’s a plus, but he’s still an old, white male).

–- Elizabeth Warren seems too old, too boring and much too non-Cherokee.

–- Kamala Harris, once you see much of her, is incredibly fakey and NOT likable.

–- Cory Booker is the wrong gender, and that’s for starters.

–- Bloomberg, just no.  Disastrous record in NYC.  Plus, he's another white male.

–- Amy Klobuchar, no. Could she try being less white?

–- Sherrod Brown. Sorry, male. Do not pass “GO,” do not collect $200.

–- “Beto” O’Rourke pretends to be Latino, but he’s white and also male.

--- “Beto” O’Rourke lost a major race and will not be perceived as a winner.

--- “Beto” O’Rourke’s journal entries are too embarrassingly bad even for Democrats.

Most of these seem like ridiculous reasons to support or not support someone for President, don’t they? Of course they do, but remember, we’re talking about Democrats here. Republicans tend to choose someone based on what we think –- or at least hope –- that person will do –- or not do –- while in office. Democrats tend to choose someone who says the right things and makes a rousing speech, is the right color and gender, has a great head of hair, and toes the line on key issues such as “reproductive justice” (we all know what that is) and transgender rights.

Anyway, Michelle “ticks all the boxes,” as they say on HGTV. (“Awesome!”) She’ll enter the race with fervent support from every area of media and culture. And if she wins in November 2020, she’ll be bringing back the same policies and corrupt power structure that were in place when her husband was President.

That, to me, would be deplorable.

Dear Lord help us if Mrs. Barack gets to be President. Or any other of the currently professing Democratic contenders.
This is one of the many reasons that we as committed Christian believers can not give up our praying about the upcoming 2020 election.
Even though it's been a very rocky road (and I'm not talking about the ice cream) ever since God put President Trump into the Oval Office, there have been so many wonderful, positive and amazing things that have taken place with President Trump and VP Pence at the helm of our country.
Just the mere fact that we have both of them as strong Christian leaders is unprecedented. It sure would be nice if this could continue Making America Great Again...again.
P.S. Governor Huckabee I laughed hysterically after reading the ages of the two "old" white guys who are thinking they are going to be the next Democratic President.
Thank you for all of your hard work along with your staff in bringing us these excellent newsletters. You are in our prayers.

She would be a disaster as a President--and we know the "first man" would actually be running her show, along with the socialist/leftist democrat money bags. The obamas maybe rich (but I bet not as rich as clinton got after their foray as President and Secretary of State and NY Senator, among their other money making things) but big bucks from socialist backers--or should I say policy formulators--never hurt. I can imagine she would make all schools and maybe even all citizens revert to her healthy nutrition idiocy. Probably make all grocery stores quit selling anything but what she approves. Except for the elite--they would have stores where they could get all the meat products they want. Anyway, I'm betting she would at least put an agenda out there--socialist though it may be. That was probably one of hilary's biggest problems--no agenda. Because I've been in politics for 30 years working to become the first woman President, because I am woman, every woman voter should vote for me. I'm not sure she really ever came out with an agenda, mostly mocking Donald Trump (even on the wall her husband, and I'm betting her was for when HE was President) on everything he said, and picked up on the false reporting of anything he said, taking a snippet of a remark instead of the entire comment. Anyway, I pray every day for our country, for people to wake up and smell the coffee, and for President Trump and his administration.

Sad to say Michele could win, and she would undo the Trump successes that the media buried.

Oh my that would be worse than her husband!!! What a scary thought. Racism was brought back by her husband with a vengeance and would be worse with her in charge!!!

    Hi Mike,

Prior to reading this tonight I had a scary thought. What if the Lib nitwits are planning a ticket of Obama/Clinton OR Clinton/Obama which I feel sure Hillary would prefer. Is that not scary?

With all the illogical people out there that have voted in people like Cortez and Obama in for 8 years, it wouldn't surprise me if she got elected President in 2020. Democrats have turned into a gang of hate and in my opinion, do very little for the betterment of the US and its people. So with that logic in mind, I can see her (he?) being voted in.

Sounds like a winner for the loony left, please God let her implode, we are finally making up for the ground lost after 8 years of Obumer.

I would hate to see Michelle O. run for president. She might win for all the wrong reasons.

Once Her husband is indicted for his role in corruption, she may be too embarrassed to run. Trump is going to win again, believe it or not.

Oh, no! Hopefully, her husband will be facing trial by then and it will never happen.

I (an 87 year old white male) say:" let these dolts prattle on. I am compiling their comments and endorsements to flesh out my book entitled 47 ways to destroy a major political party" I can hardly keep up. Hysterical, some of them.

Gov. Huckabee the way I see the 2020 election is Mr. President Donald J. Trump will really have a fight on his hands. I know he can and is capable of taking care of anything that is threw at him. He also has the democrats, rino republicans, fake news media, and some in the FBI, CIA, and DOJ pulling against every move he makes. If he is elected President I believe it will be through the electoral college vote again. Surely there are enough sensible people in the U.S. left to not let a socialist, progressive, far left leaning so called democrat win.

So, the 2020 Presidential Popularity Contest will include Michelle....

And an genuine American birth certificate?
    OK. Imminently qualified, apparently.
