Consider this not just a warning bell, but a five-alarm fire

This week, top Pentagon official Preston Dunlap, the founding chief architect officer of the U.S. Air Force and Space Force since 2019, announced his resignation. In doing so, he released a frightening warning about the state of readiness of the US Defense Department.

https://www.westernjournal.com/chief-architect-space-force-resigns-3-years-issues-big-warning-defending-country/

He described the US government as the world's largest bureaucracy in which people were more concerned with defending their turf than defending America, and competing with each other instead of China. He said on his first day of work at creating what should be a branch of the armed forces on the cutting edge of technology, he instead found a dinosaur:

“I arrived to find no budget, no authority, no alignment of vision, no people, no computers, no networks, a leaky ceiling, even a broken curtain.” He said that as he was writing his resignation, “I received notification that the phone lines are down at the Pentagon IT help desk. Phone lines are down? It’s 2022, folks.”

And in what I assume is preaching to the choir here, he added, “By the time the Government manages to produce something, it’s too often obsolete; no business would ever survive this way, nor should it.”

I hear a lot of complaints about letting billionaires like Elon Musk take over space technology. But when you consider Washington’s recent track record, I fear that if the current government brain trust had been in charge of NASA in the ‘60s, they not only wouldn’t have made it to the moon, they’d still be arguing over whether any lifeforms we might find on Mars are diverse enough.

People are noticing

The Ace of Spades blog reports that a lot of people are noticing that the Biden White House thinks we’re still in such a dire COVID emergency that we can’t let Americans stop wearing masks…but we’re also so far beyond the COVID emergency that we can drop Title 22 and let tens of thousands of illegal migrants swarm across the border, and there’s no need to deport them.

https://ace.mu.nu/archives/398774.php

Ralph Waldo Emerson observed that “A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds.” But a foolish inconsistency is the hallmark of the modern left.

And speaking of foolish inconsistency, Democrats are furious that Florida’s legislature gave final approval to revoking Disney’s power to run its own government.

https://www.westernjournal.com/florida-legislature-votes-strip-disney-self-governing-powers-democrats-shriek-protest/

Here’s Dana Loesch on how leftists who claim to hate corporations and think they have too much power are throwing temper tantrums because Florida is finally making mega-corporation Disney obey the same rules as every other company in the state.

https://danaloesch.substack.com/p/disney-losing-their-corporate-welfare?s=r

In fact, Democrats are acting so much like five-year-olds over this that maybe Disney will endorse teaching them about kinky sex.

Top Athlete speaks out against trans athletes in women's sports

An iconic athlete has spoken up against allowing “trans” athletes with male bodies to compete in women’s sports. See if you can guess who said this:

Current rules allowing “male-bodied people presenting as women, who live as women, with varying degrees of medical intervention and in some degrees, no medical intervention” to compete against women have “crossed the line,” and “it’s a slap in the face to women.”

She said denying the impact of testosterone on athletic performance “is obviously utter rubbish…Anyone with any basic understanding (of) biology and the difference between men and women knows it’s ridiculous. It’s male puberty that really grants boys and men that physical performance in sport. And I think it’s irrefutable — it’s ridiculous to suggest otherwise.”

You probably didn’t guess that that was the opinion of Danish golfer Mianne Bagger, who made history in 2004 as the first transgender athlete in a pro golf tournament at the Women’s Australian Open.

https://nypost.com/2022/04/20/transgender-golfer-mianne-bagger-rips-male-bodied-competitors-in-female-sports/

Bagger acknowledged she’ll be attacked as a hypocrite because restrictions on trans athletes might have prevented her from playing, but she says she’ll just take the abuse and criticism. She said she would be open to trans athletes competing under tougher rules, but not the “current, softened policies that are requiring less and less medical intervention of a male-bodied person entering women’s sport.”

So it’s official: we’ve now reached the point where the push to allow transgender athletes in women’s sports has gone so far beyond ridiculous that it’s actually offending transgender athletes.

Abortion law put on hold

A Trump-appointed federal judge has put Kentucky’s new law restricting abortion on hold. But before anyone makes too much of this, the judge made it clear that the ruling had nothing to do with the constitutionality of the law. She said the problem was with the enforcibility of it: abortion providers can't prove they’re in compliance because the monitoring system it requires doesn’t exist yet.

More details at the link, but for now, this looks less like a roadblock than a bump in the road.

ICYMI: Murders and shootings dropped in this U.S. city

Well, here’s some news you hardly ever see these days! A US city announced that in just one year, murders have dropped by 30% and shootings by 17%. How did they do it? Bail reform? Replacing cops with social workers? Federal grants?

https://www.foxnews.com/us/florida-prosecutor-crackdown-repeat-offenders-drop-violent-crime

No, the city was Jacksonville, Florida, where the Republican prosecutor targeted violent repeat offenders and pushed for stiff penalties instead of letting them back out on the streets to do it again.

Hey, Chicago, Seattle, Portland, New York, et al: maybe you should give enforcing the law a try. It’s crazy, but it just might work!

Related: At this writing, we’re still waiting for comment from the Black Lives Matter organization on a new FBI report showing a disproportionate 32% increase in murders of black Americans from 2019 to 2020, and various experts saying this was not due to the coronavirus but to BLM-endorsed policies such as defunding the police.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/blm-silent-when-confronted-with-data-showing-massive-2020-spike-in-black-murders-victims/ar-AAWnegb

And if you’re scratching your heads over how a virus that forced everyone to stay home and watch TV could have sparked skyrocketing crime and murder rates, you’re not alone. But some people are still pushing that idea. In her latest column, Ann Coulter takes a look back to remind us of what happened, how some people did indeed try to blame it on the pandemic, and how they were unable to provide any more evidence of that than if they’d blamed all the crime and murders on UFOs.

RIP ROBERT MORSE

By “Huckabee” pop culture guru Pat Reeder (http://www.hollywoodhifi.com)

If you’re a baby boomer, I’m afraid this will make you feel old: the great stage and screen musical comedy star Robert Morse, who embodied the youthful, impish go-getter of the ‘60s, died Wednesday at home in Los Angeles at 90.

https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/robert-morse-tony-winning-actor-dead-at-90

Playwright Paul Rudnick summed up Morse’s appeal well: "He radiated a wicked joy; it was impossible to watch him without instantly sharing his giddy delight."

Morse had some great film and TV roles, including “The Loved One” and “A Guide For the Married Man,” and a late career resurgence on “Mad Men.” But his greatest successes came on stage, with shows like “Sugar,” “Showboat” and his one-man show “Tru,” for which he won both a Tony and an Emmy for portraying Truman Capote.

But of course, he will forever be associated with his big Broadway breakthrough in 1961 as J. Pierpont Finch in “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.” The musical satire of big business was made into a movie in 1967 that included the stars of the Broadway version, Morse and Rudy Vallee. It was a box office disappointment at the time, but is now considered a classic.

Morse overcame substance abuse problems and career setbacks, and always kept working. He once said, "I didn’t think it was going to end or not end. I just plowed on. One day you hear, `We love you, Bobby.’ The next day you’re doing voiceovers."

If you haven’t seen “How to Succeed…” do yourself a favor and watch it (you don’t have to be like me and own the original book by Shepherd Mead to enjoy it, but if you want, you can find it and his other books here: http://www.shepherdmead.com/Home.html.) Here are two classic scenes from the movie: the men’s room rendition of “I Believe In You”…

https://youtu.be/bLEXE3oT3KA?t=61

And this is guaranteed to get your toes tapping and your face smiling: it’s the rousing gospel revival-style finale, “Brotherhood of Man.” The Democrats should use this as a last-ditch argument for reelection (“Remember, mediocrity is not a mortal sin…”)

https://youtu.be/8n_4t7KcJsQ

Finally, let’s all hope that Morse’s great “lost” TV series, “That’s Life” (1968-69) finally makes its way to DVD or streaming. It was an incredible show that presented an original one-hour Broadway-style musical every week about the lives of a young married couple, Morse and E.J. Peaker. Like “WKRP in Cincinnati,” it’s been blocked because of the cost and difficulty of securing the song rights. But here’s a clip from YouTube to give you a taste of what lawyers and greed are denying to the world. RIP.

Joe biden and his collection of supporters and the leadership of our important agencies have zero integrity, compentency and are people without an American Conscience for the Constitution or the value of American life. Sex trafficking, Human trafficking, drug Trafficking, Poisoning of Americans, mindless spending of our tax dollar, a weaken Military with Woke leadership and an inside General that is a possible CCP plant. Our Commander in Chief, yes your President is on mental reflexes is relying on what he had done the last 40 years the policies he had then are as Tragic now. our countries condition is on its way to become Humpy Dumpy that fell and is cracked I can only hope that his broken country can be put back together again.

Great posts always, Guv! How about a story about the huge negative impact Biden’s badministration has had on the financial security of retirees. We may get back to Carter’s days of seniors picking thru garbage cans for food!

While in the military overseas I dealt with making sure every type of equipment had fuel, oil and lubricants to be ready for defense or offensive ready ness everyday as Vietnam and North Korea were a major problem in the late 60's and early 70's. I felt secure in our leadership on our base t and would do what our link to the Commander in Chief ordered. No hesitation we trusted our leadership and our Commander trusted us as we trained and made ourselves ready for almost anything. Today I shutter at the thought of todays leadership its questionable to say the least I would have trouble following these nitwits to a hotdog stand and I enjoy hotdogs . We could not withdraw without failure and disgrace what would defensive or offense look like in case of confrontation with our enemies look to our Southern border for starters if one is unaware.

With trumps policies to bring back manufacturing was spot on the dependence on supplies from enemies from around the world weakens America as is the life of America today. This administration is weakening the US and our enemies are loving every minute China cannot wait till the next sunrise as Biden weakens the country every day

RE: "world's largest bureaucracy in which people were more concerned with defending their turf ".
Please read up on Parkinson's Law.
    Then, The Peter Principle.
Next, restructure / define the upper echelons of FBI, CIA, DOJ, & Defence - more important than Space Force.

People Are Noticing; "...but we’re also so far beyond the COVID emergency that we can drop Title 22..." Should be Title 42. Don't publish this comment. But you might want to make the correction for future readers.

The rise in power of China sounds Biblical to me. Gog and Magog and all that stuff.
